PHI Phillies 3
NY METS 8
Citi Field

12 strikeouts by Corey Kluber and the Mets take the series over PHI.
Jose Altuve, Buster Posey and Daniel Murphy had 3 hits tonight in the win.
Its our 70th win of the year.
Luis Severino, Ken Giles and Andrew Miller combine to close the game out, although the Phillies were threatening in the 9th inning.
If the AI tried to cheat me today, the Mets were too far ahead.
Maybe?

PHI Phillies 2
NY METS 6
Citi Field

A well pitched game by Noah Syndergaard helps sweep the Phillies.
Thor went 6.2 and gave up 2 runs on 5 hits.
He did strikeout 10 batters.
Jose Altuve, once again had a great game at the plate going 3-4 with 2 RBIs.
Bryce Harper hit his 23rd HR of the year.
A nice sweep over our division rivals.

Series Preview: WAS Nationals @ Citi Field (4-Games)

Before we hit the All-Star Break, a four game set with the Nationals is required.
Adam Eaton is the lone guy left from a team that we gutted with forced trades at the start of the season.
Erick Fede and Tanner Roark are the pitching leaders of this group.
Without their main stars, Harper, Murphy, Scherzer and Strasburg, the Nationals are a shell of their former selves.
Kershaw, Strasburg, Sale and Kluber will be the headliners of this series before going into the Break.

WAS Nationals 6
NY METS 16
Citi Field

At first, I thought this game was going to be crazy.
But then, the Mets settled down and did their job versus the Nationals.
Clayton Kershaw did not have a good night.
He did go 7 innings, but he gave up 6 runs on 9 hits.
Fortunately for him, the lineup bailed him out big time.
Everyone in the lineup got a hit.
Jose Altuve was 4-5 and he hit his 12th HR of the year.
Bryce Harper hit his 24th HR and Mike Trout smacked 2 HRs, his 26th and 27th.
The Mets got 20 hits off of WAS pitching.
What a way to start this weekend series.

WAS Nationals 2
NY METS 11

Its Friday the 13th and it was an unlucky day for the Nationals.
Stephen Strasburg goes 6 and gives up 2 runs on 7 hits while adding 9 strikeouts to his season total.
Aaron Judge went 3-4 and he hit his 20th HR of the year.
Bryce Harper (25) and Freddie Freeman (17) also went long tonight.
Freeman did have 4 RBIs, so he brought in the runs for the Mets.

WAS Nationals 1
NY METS 7
Citi Field

Another well pitched game by Chris Sale gives the Mets the win.
He goes 7 and gives up 1 run on only 2 hits.
He had it today.
Meanwhile, Gary Sanchez (10) and Giancarlo Stanton (20) hit a dinger each tonight.
But it was Francisco Lindor, who went 3-4 getting the Golden Bat Award for the game.
Can we sweep a 4-game set from the Nationals before the All-Star Break?
It will be up to Corey Kluber tomorrow afternoon to do it.

WAS Nationals 5
NY METS 4
Citi Field

There are some days when you just don't have it.
Corey Kluber had a rough game going 7 innings, but he gave up 4 runs on 7 hits.
Three of them were HRs.
We almost came back in the 9th, but we head into the All-Star Break with a loss.
Jose Altuve had 3 hits today, while Bryce Harper (26) and Giancarlo Stanton (22) did hit the long-ball.
Another 1-run loss.

This Week in Baseball---NY METS

We head into the All-Star Break in cruise control.
Are we where I expected this team to be at this time?
Of course.
So what are our weaknesses?
We are 3-4 in extra inning games and 8-12 in one run games.
Should I be worried?
Yes!
With the AI constantly changing things up and playoff games being usually close, I am very concerned about the upcoming postseason.
But for now, we are the best team in baseball and I don't see that changing for the rest of the year.

This Week in Baseball---MLB

Its All-Star Week so lets how the Majors stack up!
Only one division is pretty much decided, but what about the rest?
ALE: BOS holds a 4-game lead over TOR.
ALC: The MIN Twins have just captured the division lead over the CLE Indians, but that will change I believe pretty soon.
ALW: Still very tight between the LAA, TEX, HOU and OAK here. This division will go to the wire.
NLE: The NY Mets still lead!
NLC: The CHC are still ahead over STL, but the Cardinals are staying close.
NLW: The Dodgers have a very slim lead over, yes, the Padres. Don't count out the Diamondbacks just yet.

MLB Trades:

Here is an interesting trade on the day before the Break.
Nice move for the Cubs and the Rangers get Yoenis Cespedes.
Very interesting indeed!
