And the Mets keep making garbage trades. Kevin Plawecki to the Indians for Walker Lockett (0-3, 9.60 ERA in '18!) and another guy I don't know.

The guy you don't know is an infield prospect that is 24 and has hit .240 in AA last year. 24th round pick. Should become a quality player... in softball. How deep Plawecki has fallen.

PS: I'm not even a big Mets fan, but I love baseball discussions where people don't start throwing rocks at you when you state your opinion

Hey, Plawecki landed us at least TWO turds, not just one!

And given your location you are sure glad to have somebody, anybody to talk baseball with. I know a thing or two about that.

Exactly, none of my close friends watch, understand, or care about baseball... however, we atleast have a 2. Bundesliga baseball team here in Dortmund, so if i'm starving for live baseball, I could go there... they even have a female softball team.

Compared even to a lousy MLB team, say, the Tigers... the level in the second tier in Germany is shocking, I bet. And I can bet because I once saw a first tier playoff game, and the level of play *was* shocking there, too.

Is the new GM trying to lower our expectations? if so it's certainly working

They should indeed run that intro to that old Mad TV bit - "Lowered Expectations" - before every Mets game in 2019.

Mets reportedly land Jed Lowrie for 2-yr, $20M. - https://www.mlb.com/news/mets-land-j...?tid=282421090

...which sounds weird to me, because that would actually be a useful player. Although he is also old, so he fits into the Mets always yearning for players only four months away from developing chronic hip conditions that will cripple them for the rest of their lives.

But why did they even bother with ... J.D. Davis...?

I like Lowrie, but this makes sense only if we are a real contender right now, and we ain't.

The A's fanbase would often complain about how slow Lowrie was in the field.. both with the glove and on the basepaths. So.. he's perfect for the Mets then.

Tim Tebow - the most meaningless player in baseball that gets the absolute most applause whenever he shows his nose over the dugout railing.

Also, next Bird to hit a Met will have a reason to be red in the face. (thumps down on the table with a stern expression)
