Yea, lots of moves. Buddy Bell is making $186k this year vs Phil Garner's $24,320. Some of the other moves got rid of bench players making more than the minimum to replace them with call ups making the minimum. Essentially strengthen the front line a bit and weaken the backup a bit. My payroll started the season at 18th, fell to 20th as other teams brought on more expense and is now back to 18th.

Aside from the pen that's a solid-looking squad for bottom third percentile payroll...

The Pirates farm produced a lot of talent 69 into the 70s. The Golden Years of the team. In the 70s, 6 1st place finishes, 3 seconds, 1 third. Need that young and cheap talent for moneyball!

You'll enjoy the entire 70s in your Bucs save.

Lots of the 79 Bucs were not home grown so I'm probably at a disadvantage toward the end of the decade.

The pen is stronger than Gene Garber's 24th ranking as the top Pirate reliever would indicate. Rich Gossage is there but the game rates him as a starter.
