Perhaps Terry was thinking of this Sakata, shared by Merkle last year?

Yup...saw it too which is why in my original I had posted:

"Mil Lenn Sakata (like Merkle's found on here. Anyone have him with a hat on circa 1978 unis)"

Appreciate all the efforts!

Tommy Hanson dead at age 29

Former Braves and Angels pitcher Tommy Hanson, who seven years ago was widely considered to be one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, passed away shortly before midnight from what was described as "catastrophic organ failure." He was 29.

Known to Braves fans as "Big Red," dealt to Angels for Jordan Walden following the 2012 season. Pitched one season for the Angels, then was a farmhand for White Sox and Giants.

Gerry Pirtle 1978

We've all seen the frustrating shots of this very brief Expos' reliever from 1978 in the Yankees' camp of 1973. Now we have the other end - after his Expo stay, in the Cubs' camp in 1979. At least this one will give photoshoppers something closer in base uniform color and hairstyle to work with.

Tommie Agee 1962

One of the great up-and-down careers in baseball history: a 6.4 WAR, Rookie of the Year, 8th in MVP in 1966, two years later down to a .562 OPS with 15 RBI. The year after that he was the lynchpin of the Miracle Mets' offense and immortalized with two of the greatest catches in World Series history in the same game and three seasons after that, he would be traded three times and released once in a span of 16 months.

Of course Tommie Agee preceded this roller coaster ride with a remarkable four consecutive seasons (1962-65) in which he broke into the majors yet failed to play more than 15 games. The first three of these were with the team depicted in the Topps upload today, Cleveland (which adroitly dealt him away for the last two full seasons of Rocky Colavito - throwing in Tommy John in the process).

Ron Clark - Seattle Pilots

For years, we only had the one picture of Ron Clark with the Seattle Pilots (you know the one). This is the second Clark as Pilot the Vault has released (both capless). The other was in the HT series. There were also a couple of B&Ws sold on eBay by dr.jteee awhile back.

Hi,

Does anybody have a nice pic of Ken Hottman with the 71 Chisox with red uniform (vs blue from 1970) from Topps Vault?

Thanks,

BRobby05

Paul Ray Powell 1971

Much-hyped catcher-outfielder of the Twins who resurfaced with the Dodgers in 1975. I've seen Topps images of him in Minnesota but they have not (yet?) been posted.

Bob (Bo) Polinsky

Technically doesn't belong in this thread but the story is too good to skip.

When George Steinbrenner demanded the Yankees get a "real shortstop" in 1977, Bill Veeck's people were able to get Oscar Gamble, $200,000, future Cy Young winner LaMarr Hoyt and a "throw-in" from New York for Bucky Dent. The Yankee baseball department was horrified to learn Steinbrenner had tentatively agreed that the throw-in could be some "useless short lefty" named Ron Guidry. They pleaded with him and he went back to the White Sox who wisely realized they had gotten about twice Dent's actual value already - and settled for Bob "Bo" Polinsky instead.
