Happy New Year all,

Not sure why but there seems to be a lack of color pics of catcher - Bruce Benedict as a Brave as part of his '78 or '79 seasons. I've checked the usual haunts and hopefully I simply have missed it.

Might anyone have a color image of him in the cap and uni below or even the red batting practice tops from the late 70s?

George Spriggs was pictured, hatless in a Pirates uniform, as a Red Sox Rookie Star in the 1968 Topps set. Acquired in the Rule V draft, he instead was returned to the Pirates for the 1968 season at the end of spring training, and spent the entire year in the minors. Purchased by the fledgling Royals in October of 1968, he would return to the majors in Kansas City.
Here is a Flexibell file shot from his 1968 spring with the Red Sox, running alongside Jose Tartabull.

The Baseball Birthdays/Lexibell files will only remain accessable until Jan. 16th, so I wanted to post as many cool/important images as I can before then. This is extremely, cool, because you don't see photos of Cy Young every day.
This is from the Yankees' 1954 Hall of Fame day, posing together Hall of Fame pitchers who threw no-hitters.

This was buried in those same files. Not impossible to find with the Cardinals, but pretty scarce given that his tenure there was spring training 1968 and half a season, during the MLBPA boycott of Topps.

Looks like a quality scan of a J.D. McCarthy postcard proof.

Minor league slugging behemoth (313 homers) and major league itinerant (76 homers in six MLB years and four partial ones) Steve Bilko in spring training, before his 31-game stint with the Cincinnati Reds in 1958:

Note that Miller was also a missing umpire. Baseball-Reference.com and the 2015 version of the Lahman database also list Miller as the manager for the 1872 Washington Nationals, a role Retrosheet assigns to Warren White. As there is still quite a bit of fluidity in the determination of National Association managers, I'll include Miller in the managers pack for at least the time being, until there is some consensus.

Cheech is correct. Those are all Jim Maloney. Topps never shot Richards.

Looking at it again, in point of fact the first image was used on Maloney's 1961 Topps card.

You want some dramatic evidence of how far Topps has progressed in its ability to photoshop photos -- look no farther than the new Bowman set. Dansby Swanson, last year's No. 1 pick by the Diamondbacks and this winter's stunning pickup by the Braves, is portrayed in a spot-on Braves uniform despite having been in the organization barely over a month.
