Bob Chance
Here are a few more of Chance. The Senators images are eBay offerings from Kyle's Sports Cards, while the Cleveland image is from The Cat's Pajamas.

Three from the Topps Vault (including the image used on the 1969 rookie card, I believe) and one from the already greatly missed Baseball-Birthdays.

Al Yates 1971 (in 1966)
There's still only a mediocre Brace batting shot, and a tiny image from a team picture, from this outfielder's only major league stint with the 1971 Brewers.
But Yates was widely photographed while in the Red Sox system, and at two Mets' spring training camps. This photo was dated 1966. Last edited by Merkle923; 08-03-2017 at 12:12 AM. |

It's like he has a photoshop batch routine that is simply "screw this pics' aspect ratios up to the point that it looks bizarre and ridiculous." I just don't understand how every single pic he posts can have completely screwed up dimensions. Seems to me he's simply a troll, and is somehow getting off on his ridiculous, ludicrous posts of players with alien heads and monster bodies or vice-versa. He really seems to be doing a disservice to the guys who do so much work here in making this THE place for historical MLB and MiLB photos, just an incredible resource. I can't really see why he hasn't been banned or censured, or something. Is he really anything beyond a troll? Last edited by Lukas Berger; 02-11-2016 at 12:10 AM. |

Al Yates 1971
Unless your requirement is that the photo be in color, this J.D. McCarthy photo of Yates should be considered. The head shot portion of this photo was also used to produce an Al Yates card in the 1994 Miller All-Time Brewers set.

Just wanted to clear up my previous post.
tnfoto assures me cheech isn't a troll, so I apologize for calling him one and really for the post in general. It was bad form on my part to say the least. Thanks to all you guys for all the hard work you do. I don't participate here much but I'm always as excited as a kid in a candy store to open this thread and see what new treasures you guys have found. |

Nice photo of Phillies' reliever Ron Reed on the previous page (1354) - Section 27067. It seems that Reed has never gotten the proper credit for his role on those division championship Phillies teams of the late 1970s and the World Series championship team of 1980.
In the category of "Relief wins Plus Saves". Reed set the franchise record with more than any Phillies reliever including Jim Konstanty and Reed's contemporary, Tug McGraw. (This record may possibly have been broken since by long-time Phillie. Ryan Madson). The more colorful McGraw seemed to get all the credit, but actually Reed and McGraw formed a powerful 1-2 righty/lefty punch out of the bullpen from the mid-70s to the early 80s. While McGraw made the Phillies Wall Of Fame, quite easily after he became eligible, Reed still hasn't been elected and he's been retired since 1984. Reed, 72, once made the National League All-Star team as a starting pitcher and in a long MLB career that stretched almost 20 years for which he started the first half of his career and relieved the second half, he is 146-140 lifetime. . Ron Reed... 1965-66
OK, top this:
Here is the long-time reliever in his other major league career: as a two-season forward for the Detroit Pistons. That's Reed in white, uniform 20, going against what was literally his opposite number on the 76ers (Dave Gambee). The game took place as part of a doubleheader in New York in November, 1966. In less than a year Reed would make his baseball debut with the Braves. Incidentally, the Pistons' player-coach as this photo was taken was Dave DeBusschere, who by then had concluded his other career - as a pitcher for the White Sox.
