Bob Mahoney 1951

Bob Mahoney, 1951 Chicago White Sox

Mahoney was selected by Chicago in the Rule V Draft following the 1950 season from the St. Louis Cardinals. He made his big league debut with the White Sox in relief on May 3,1951, came out of the bullpen again on May 8 and May 13, and was then waived and claimed by the Browns. The image is sampled from a recently purchased wirephoto.

Hi Guys,

Do any of you Yankee or A's fans know what Ron Klimkowski's pitch types were (fastball, curve, etc.)?

Thanks,

Here's your answer, but I'm not a Yankees or A's fan. Klimkowski was primarily a sinker-ball hurler. The clipping is from the Racine (WI) Sunday Bulletin of January 18, 1970.

Pronunciation please...

Can someone assist? I'd like to figure out how to pronounce the name of one-time White Sox, Braves, etc. catcher Bill Nahorodny.
Many thanks!

That almost sounds like a 2 seam fastball or sinking fastball. Can anybody think where I can find a little more of a completed list? I'm sure that he had more than 1 pitch. Thanks for the efforts. I've already checked my book of pitchers & pitches and I also googled Klimkowski.

Thanks again,

Sorry about that. He did have 2 for being a reliever...a fastball and sinker. Since my pituitary tumor brain surgery back in 2009, I can't read and concentrate like I used to do. That's MY stupidity.

Bob, Ed & Ted Sadowski

Can anyone post photos of the Sadowskis (Bob, Ed & Ted), who all played in the majors in the early 1960s? While maybe not as confusing as the two Hal Smiths (both catchers) and the three Bob Millers (all pitchers), whose careers also overlapped, I've often been confused over which Sadowski is which. As a Phillies fan, it would be a bonus to me if anyone had a photo to post of Bob Sadowski with the Phillies (1961).

Nahorodny

He's Na Huh Rod Nee - slight emphasis on the "rod" syllable, but nothing excessive.

Bob Sadowski 1960

Here are a few options for Bob Sadowski in a Phillies uniform. The first is from the Pittsburgh Press of 4/4/1961; the second from the Tennessean (Nashville) of 5/8/1961; and the third from Pinterest.

Curt Simmons 1947

Not a lot of him during his stay with the Cubs, his penultimate stop in an underrated 20-year career (his WAR is comparable to Herb Pennock, Dolph Luque, and Sam McDowell).

The image is from 1967 at Shea Stadium (April 20, I believe).

Ed Sadowski 1960

Ed Sadowski, ToppsVault HE372 orginal, then de-saturated and colorized. The Red Sox scan came from one of the Historic Images sellers on ebay many years ago.

Looks like Sammy Drake to me.

Edit: Yep. Just found the same photo (a different copy, obviously) in my Mets photo files...it's Sammy.
