On the other hand, if the Universe is speaking, we'd be fools not to listen.... |

We fixed the transmission. It is secure. Freeside did it! The King was happier than I have seen him in years. I think he even said something about where the NCR could go right after they won. I told him not to be cruel. 18 years, and they got one. I am blasting this out. I hope you can see it. I am attaching parts of my journey west from January. I hacked my Pipboy to collect more data, but I still had to break this up. I call this part "The Glitch." I'll send out the rest later. You have so much explaining to do. See this. Please.

2302 CBO Playoffs - Sole Survivor Series
Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (#1, 73-35) vs University Point Deathclaws (#4, 64-44)
Game 6: University Point 10 at Nordhagen Beach 3, Series Tied 3-3 Story SS Engill Lights Up Party Boys for 6 RBIs as Deathclaws Tie SSS The University Point Deathclaws and the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys will take the Sole Survivor Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Deathclaws beat the Party Boys 10-3 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. University Point shortstop Austin Engill hit 3 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring three times. Engill had a consequential at-bat in the top of the second for the Deathclaws. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and University Point trailing 3-2, he hit a 3-run home run. "We were able to get some things going offensively," said Engill. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Nordhagen Beach. Special Notes: Austin Engill sets the SCA playoff game record for home runs with 3. He also became the third player ever to hit three home runs in the postseason in a game, all three happening in this season's Sole Survivor Series (Dustin Mart in Game 1 and Jonathan Angelou in Game 4). Boxscore Game 7: University Point 9 at Nordhagen Beach 3, UP wins series 4-3 Story Deathclaws Beat Party Boys in Sole Survivor Series With a 9-3 win over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium today, the University Point Deathclaws wrapped up their 1st title in team history. The Deathclaws left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said University Point manager Woody Lumpkin. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as University Point celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order. "I hope they have a big celebration," Nordhagen Beach manager Matt Ballhawk Getman said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it." Despite being a part of a losing effort, Party Boys' 1B Dustin Mart was named Series MVP, edging out teammate Jonathan Angelou. In the series, Mart was 12 of 27 with 6 home runs and 14 RBI. Angelou added 7 home runs and 11 RBI. Boxscore Final Playoff Tree University Point Championship Banner

Plenty of excitement in that series, and that's even an undersell! One thing I like about any dynasty that "starts from the beginning" so to speak is when these things like records/firsts come up, so I want to say I appreciate the special notes but in particular the deep dives into history of the other occurances.
I know we have our favorite teams, but I like that the Deathclaws won to keep it fresh. Yeah, maybe it isn't too big a surprise in the "here and now", but if you take the story as a whole it's a big shift. Interested to see where the "story" elements take us soon too. |

I know your Boys had a chance, and I am convinced they run away with the title if Fogcrawler did not get injured. Now let's see how they adjust their team for next season. Assuming they don't get any major or unlucky abilities hits in the offseason, they should be right back as a contender in 2303.

Exciting series! Always love a game seven and the Deathclaws stomped the home team, which was a huge surprise.
I will say I'm a little anti-Deathclaw as early on in my New Vegas save there was a path I wanted to take and let's just say it didn't agree... Congrats on another exciting season, and looking forward to what you have in store next! |

The University Point Deathclaws are also one of the no-doubt names (along with the Diamond City Swatters) that I had in my baseball universe: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Univ...int_Deathclaws

The Cats second baseman took the honor by hitting .276 in 92 games this season and finishing with 95 hits, 7 home runs, 39 RBIs and 60 runs scored. He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Whokill Poole of the Roxbury Rad Sox finished second in voting, while Purple Gupta of the Roxbury Rad Sox finished third. Hargraves will take over control of the team immediately after the caps distribution has been sold. Staples plans to return to commerce for his remaining days. According to a report released on WRVR, Hargraves said, "We're excited to shift our role in the Commonwealth Baseball League. While we are maintaining our commitment to the CBO and broadcasting games across the league, we also will launch a secondary broadcast that will be 24-7 Ninjas baseball. Stay tuned for WEGR coming in early 2303." Asked in an interweb interview if she had plans to make changes in the coaching staff and player personnel, Hargraves noted that every part of the franchise would be evaluated. "We'll be aggressive in building a winner," she wrote. 10/19 - NCA Manager of the Year Award Given to Getman: When Matt Ballhawk Getman was hired to lead the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, fans were expecting improvement over the last manager. Today, flanked by team officials, Getman accepted the North Charles Association Manager of the Year Award, noting the level of passion for the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. "The biggest challenge was the fans. I don't know how many times I was asked, if I thought the club was good enough. It was as if they expected failure. It was much easier to win over the ballplayers. Slowly but surely the fans began to believe in us." Getman led Nordhagen Beach to a first place finish in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League. The Party Boys ended up with a 73-35 record. Getman is looking forward to the offseason. "We're reviewing our options. You never stand still in baseball. You either get better or worse, 'cause everyone else is out to get your free agents or deal for your prospects. It's going to be a challenge." But the skipper has more than proven he is equal to the task. 10/19 - SCA Top Skipper is Lumpkin of University Point: University Point manager Woody Lumpkin caused quite a stir when he came to town. Noted for his feisty, no-nonsense attitude, Lumpkin threw his all into the 2302 campaign, winning over critics and fans as he went. He also won a few ballgames, running up a 64-44 record, which was good enough to take the second place spot in the South Charles Association Minutemen League standings. "These guys are grown men. They don't need psychobabble, they need to win ballgames," Lumpkin snapped at his first press conference. While his approach was controversial, even for University Point, it netted the 41-year-old the South Charles Association Manager of the Year trophy. In response to which he replied, "It ain't molecular physics, it's baseball," and began discussing potential free agents with the local media. 10/20 - Top NCA Pitcher for 2302 Named: The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Beachboy Nut, this year's North Charles Association Vim! Pitcher Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Nut compiled a 17-6 record in 26 starts, tallied 169 strikeouts in 200.2 innings and recorded a 2.20 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .231 batting average against him. He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Chet Arthur of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys finished second in voting, while Gavin Eviritts of the County Crossing Bloodbugs finished third. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the North Charles Association Nuka-Hitter Award. Pawlak hit for a .329 average while collecting 141 hits, 23 doubles, 7 triples, 26 home runs, 84 RBIs and scoring 92 times. He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 24. At the age of 23, the Atom center fielder has been named the winner of the South Charles Association Nuka-Hitter Award. He had a .324 batting average and a .429 on-base percentage this year. In 108 games he piled up 136 hits, 30 doubles, 3 triples, 11 home runs, 39 RBIs and 92 runs scored. "I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year." He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 24. Will not swing at bad pitches ever. Will probably win a few home run crowns. Not the most gifted as a defensive player, so there could be a shift out of the SS position but his offense will make up for any deficiencies with the glove. Will probably be in the CBO before anyone else in the draft. A can't-miss prospect that will make the T-51s relevant again. Personality: Highly intelligent with good leadership and work ethic. Not ever 100% committed to his team but gives his all every day. 1-2 The Slog - SP Cassie Cryar OSA Ranking: 7th overall; 2nd SP OSA Scouting: Three-pitch pitcher with an amazing curveball. Already has great stuff and can follow it up with decent movement and control. Expected to be the eventual staff ace for the Ghouls, thus the high pick over a pitcher with more potential in Ryan Downing (selected 6th overall). Some concern with stamina since he did work a lot and is coming into the draft as a 20-year-old. Personality: Workaholic who tries to improve each time he takes the mound. Decided to forego playing in the BYDL because he did not want limitations on his pitching opportunities. A competitor who wears his emotions on his sleeve win or win. Did not lose in three years with a Travel Team A in the Commonwealth Travel League, a group of four teams that would play other teams around the travel team. 1-3 Warwick - SS Pipewrench Mathis OSA Ranking: 4th overall; 2nd SS OSA Scouting: A bit small but could become a power hitter as he fills out later. Probably going to be a good to great hitter in time. Definitely a defensive star with the top glove coming out of the draft. Expected to make his way to the CBO for his glove but will need to spend some time in the GBRL and BMU to work on hitting. Expected to be a solid pick. Personality: Just wants to play baseball. Plays it when awake and dreams about it when he sleeps. Gives the Mirelurks a ton of confidence in his ability to make it to the CBO. Has a solid mind and can adapt well to different environments. Not expected to be the leader in the clubhouse but will support the brass. 1-4 Abernathy - 2B Emerald Sapphire OSA Ranking: 10th overall, 3rd SS OSA Scouting: Middle infielder who was good for the State House Orphans (BYDL) at SS but expected to shift to 2B with the Adamantium. Great range but needs to work more on cleanly gloving balls and then making clean throws to 1B. Expected to hit for average, so may find himself at the top of the lineup. Not the fastest runner but showed that he can swipe a base if needed. Needs to work on patience at the plate. Personality: Not always focused on the task at hand. Was considered a lazy student at the State House Academy. Loyal to a fault. Not likely to ask out of Abernathy regardless of what is happening around him. Not going to ask for anything but a nearly holeless roof and a nearly radless meal. 1-5 Salem - CF Beckett Quantum OSA Ranking: 8th overall, 3rd RF OSA Scouting: A bit of a surprise to be the first RF off the board but not at all a bad pick. Has good power. While he does not hit for average, he is a speedy asset when on the bases. His long, lanky build will give him that extra reach to swipe bases others could not. Can play all fields but projected as a RF because of his power. Could be a CF because of his speed. Expected to be a solid addition in all three phases: hitting, running, and defense. Personality: Not known to stay in one place for very long. Likes to solve a problem and then move on to another problem, barely remembering the last problem he solved. Coaches say he has swiss cheese for a brain because of his memory lapses. Continuously has animated conversations with empty space, which concerns scouts. Does well turning failures into successes. Scouting: Other Featured Picks 2-27 Warwick - 3B Rico Tub OSA Ranking: 2nd overall; 1st 3B OSA Scouting: The reason the Mirelurks win the 2302 Draft. Has the potential to win the Triple Crown. Waits for his pitch and then punishes it. Not only expected to make the CBO, but expected to be a star. Possesses decent speed but not a base stealer. Good side-to-side movement and a strong arm that makes him 100% a 3B at all levels. Personality: Questions about his commitment to baseball seems to be the reason for his large drop as the 2nd overall prospect to the 2nd round. Warwick scout Eric Foster questioned what he had missed in scouting Tub, rating him as his 4th overall prospect. Always willing to play second violin. Cool in all situations. 1-23 Fort Hagen - 1B Amazing Jeremy Grace OSA Ranking: 33rd overall; 7th 1B OSA Scouting: Great fastball hitter that can help him hit a bunch of home runs. Struggles with off-speed pitches and needs to work on those pitches in the GBRL. Patient at the plate and needs to learn to lay off of strikes when they are not in his sweet spot. Expected to be an eventual piece in the Silver Shroud's puzzle. Not great at defense, but OK for a 1B. Personality: Wants to play for a winner so will be ecstatic to be picked at the end of the 1st round. Not an outspoken person and will not disrupt the dugout. Could use more effort on the practice field. 1-24 Nordhagen Beach - Ogre Olmstead OSA Ranking: 23rd overall; 3rd SP OSA Scouting: Three-pitch pitcher that leans on his fastball and curve. Great stuff but will need extra time in the GBRL to work on control. Can ve a walk machine when he is just a little off. Needs to work more on stamina. Not a lot of decisions with Freeplat of the PJPL. Projected to be a middle of the rotation guy in the future. Personality: Good all around demeanor. May not be team captain but can be a leader. May not be the hardest worker but does what he needs to do to improve. May ask for more from the team from time to time but expected to fall in line if its best for the team. 2-42 Atom - LF McCrew Gillens OSA Ranking: 12th overall; 1st LF OSA Scouting: Potential to be a good all-around hitter. Good eye at the plate helps him succeed. Not the best defensive player but typically handles the easy fly balls. Does not have the range nor arm to play anywhere but LF. Not going to steal bases. Personality: Like Tub, questions about why he fell so far in the draft. Exceptional teammate. Teammates like him. Smart. Gets up and brushes off the dirt when he falls. 2-33 Lexington - C Jesse Revolution OSA Ranking: 15th overall; 2nd C OSA Scouting: Known as a defensive catcher. Stops just about every bad pitch. Not the best at throwing out runners but not going to let the run all over him, either. Has potential to be a solid contact hitter. Not a chaser for pitches outside the strike zone but also not one who draws a lot of walks. Personality: Willing to do what it takes to make himself better. Understands that catchers are undervalued in the draft and prepared to go late. Could end up as a leader in the clubhouse.
