Does anyone know where the Lexibell and BBdays zip files can be found? I know a link was posted here at one time but I can't find it now. Thanks.

As a general rule of thumb, the higher the number on the folder, the newer the images. Each folder is alphabetized, more or less. But there is not a hard and fast structure. Just load WinZip (what I did) and open as many as you can.

Its likely there's also no image of Tom Fisher in Pilots garb as he wasn't invited to spring camp with the team in 1970 (though, in that case, its at least possible). There might be images of Foster and Coggins with the Pilots from spring training 1970 in the Topps Vault, since both were expected to make the team (both were traded to the Indians on April 4, in what I believe was the first ever trade made by the newly minted Brewers), but none have been released that I know of (and, indeed, the Vault's Pilots inventory seems unusually thin, if you're asking me). Felix was in camp in 1969, but primarily served as a scout for the club. Given that the disputes between Topps and the Players Association were ongoing until late March of '69 (IIRC), they might not have felt it worthwhile to shoot pictures of him or other spring instructors, if indeed he was still in camp at that time. At that point, Topps was rather in a hurry to get some shots of players in the new unis for that years set. The fact that the team, itself, did not have a picture of Felix in a Pilots uniform (as they did for Bob Lemon, for example) suggests to me that none were taken. If they were, it would probably have been taken by AP and they haven't released their complete stash either. I think we got most of what the Seattle papers had (that weren't destroyed) when they released a batch of "forgotten" photos a few years back. I'm actually most surprised you never see snapshots of the Pilots taken by fans. Did nobody in Arizona bring their camera to the ballgames? |

Tom Barry 1904
On April 15, 1904, Tom Barry made his major league debut as the starting pitcher for the Phillies in the second game of the season, at Philadelphia against the Boston Beaneaters. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, allowing six hits and walking one; he was charged with five runs (three earned). He never again appeared in the major leagues, leaving him with a career ERA of 40.50. Barry's contract was transferred to the Kansas City Blues later that spring. |

Dave Bristol
I was looking for something other than the 1968 Topps image for Bristol with the Reds wearing sleeves. I found this one. Dave Bristol Cincinnati Reds 35mm Baseball Slide | eBay

Topps, Pilots
I don't know where the idea comes from that Topps didn't shoot a lot of Pilots in both their camps. They've sold dozens of them on eBay and to my knowledge the only players in the 1969 camp they missed were John Gelnar, Lou Piniella, and Steve Whitaker. I don't believe they have sold any yet but I have seen 1970 Topps images of Foster. They did not shoot Fisher. I do not recall seeing a file for Coggins, though clearly there was one as some of his 1965 and 1967 Senators images have been sold recently.
For whatever reason there is no indication they photographed coaches or instructors. The latter were seldom photographed in any camp. I have no explanation about the coaches. There was also a midseason shoot of the Pilots in New York in 1969, which produced shots of Ron Clark, Miguel Fuentes, John O'Donoghue, Gelnar, and many others. |

Originally, the newspaper featured the profiles in the run-up to the regular season in 1969. It was in-paper promotion for both the team and the paper. So the original "set" would have been on newsprint and, yes, Joe Schultz was included. The "card" set was a 1978 reprint on card stock created as a collectible by collector Frank Caruso. The cards are numbered 1-39, but the set is complete at 38 cards as #5, Joe Schultz, was not issued as part of the reprint set. The original newspaper profiles were a tad larger than the cards. Given the frailty of newsprint, the sets you see for sale on eBay are invariably the '78 Caruso sets. |

Monday's Vault Haul
The latest offerings from Folder KA had, as usual, one or two true nuggets that make this such a remarkable project.
71-72 Kevin Saucier; 73-74 Hank Sauer; 75-76 Jim Saul; 77-80 Dennis Saunders, 81-84 Chico Salmon; 85-86 Luis Salazar; 87-90 Lenn Sakata; 91-92 Tony Satriano; 93-96 Harry Saferight (Pitt. min.); 97-100 Bob Sadowski; 101-102 Ed Sadowski. Included Monday are the first Vault images of longtime catching prospect Harry Saferight (with Pirates, Braves and Phillies). Last edited by rico43; 05-23-2016 at 08:41 PM. |

Bob F. Sadowski 1960
Five players named Sadowski debuted between 1960 and 1974 and four of them are related.
This is the guy who isn't. Infielder-outfielder Robert Francis Sadowski of St. Louis, broke in with the Cardinals in 1960, had an additional cameo with the 1961 Phillies, and then part-time work with the '62 White Sox and '63 Angels. For the record the others were brothers Bob (1960-66 - pitcher), Ed (1960-63 - catcher), and Ted (1960-62 - pitcher) and their nephew Jim (1974 - pitcher). |
