Doesn't that just drive you nuts! In PT21, I had that happen with one particular Live Diamond card, 3-4 different times!

I woke up this morning to a surprise single reward pack from a overnight tournament my team was in.
I went back and forth trying to determine if I should save it until I get more packs or open it by itself. Then I started thinking of the 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and the Golden Ticket, and the fact that it only takes one to win. So with very, very high hopes, I decided to open the single standard pack thinking that this was the pack that I was needing and guess what I got.........? 6 lousy Live cards rated 67 or lower! Oh, what the drama!

You can if you want however, it will not change anything for this week. If you didn't get placed with other OL teams, you need to make sure you have friended teams that will be at the same level as you BEFORE Monday morning otherwise they will not take effect. That is why we always remind everyone on SUN and SUN Night about double-checking your Friends List. If you are not sure how to do this, just let us know and someone will walk you through it. Also, double check your settings to verify “use friend’s list” is showing, and not “random”.... sometimes it reverts back or doesn’t stick even if you make the change Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The Boston Red Sox - OL are in Rookie .65, 1-3, last in my division. There's one non-OL team in my division with a lot of gold players. Even among OL teams, mine seems to be behind the curve. I still have 6 iron players on my roster, for example.
I have about 2000 PP and am debating whether to use it to complete collections or to buy targeted upgrades to my weakest positions. I've heard one shouldn't do incremental upgrades, but maybe iron-to-silver isn't incremental?

Fenway, my suggestion to you is to think carefully before you purchase any players. You certainly don’t want to go with Irons for too long, but I have found that PP is quite valuable and so when I spend it I wanna make sure I’m spending on the right thing.
If I was getting twitch drops for that account I would wait a few days and see if I could get some packs to open that might provide me some players. Or some funds to buy players! Don’t forget to get your challenge packs also I know it’s just one pack of the time but you never know what you can get. I have also been working on a bronze tournament team so I have spent freely to buy the players I need for the team, and since they’re pretty good bronzers I don’t feel at all bad about sticking them in my team, at least as a starting point! But if you are not getting quick drops and it’s frustrating to play iron players I would think if you’re careful you can get some decent upgrades in bronze or silver. After all the point here is not (just)to crush our competition completely but to have fun with historical players! |

Lost game 7 of the Daily Early Bronze tourney. Check out the way we lost it... I have a feeling both teams were exhausted at that point. We had played 25 days in a row at that point!

Thanks, Charlatan. I spent a bit of time polishing it up as I figured I'm gonna be looking at it plenty! I'm fairly handy with Gimp now, which is a great little bit of free picture editing software.
My top tip for tournaments is to take fatigue very seriously. Try to imagine your team are playing through a sustained heatwave, or long covid! I saw my primary catcher go from 70 to 0 after game 3, and only recovered to 13 after a day off. Things can clearly go very wrong like that...! |

Charlatan, thanks for that helpful advice!
I'm up to 3-7 now. Woo! Selling off my Live cards, doing missions. Gonna figure out how to add my OL team to my sig.

Reloading team graphics
As has happened in the past, the PT servers delete the team graphics. Sometimes they do it time after time. After you reload your team logo in, go to the profiles and hit the "troubleshooting" dropdown tab and select "upload team graphics" and then submit your team again. It's also a good time to check on your friends list. It can be frustrating at times, but if you stick with it, it'll work out.

R65 Standings
I had time this afternoon to make a google sheet for the R65 standings, so I will try to post them daily. I will do at least tomorrow, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

I don't think the PT22 signatures are working yet. I have my 2 teams listed in the sig (assuming they use the same format as last year) and nothing is showing up yet. Eventually they will appear as if by magic!

In other news... West Burlington found All-Time Legend Jose Cruz (PVR 96) in a pack generated from Challenger mode. That's the good news. The not-so-good is that Cruz has been meh so far for the Farmhands. Despite that, West Burlington is riding some strong hitting to an early lead in the AC Central. (Having central AC in West Burlington in the summer is a good thing) South Holland spent significant PP's to acquire Snapshot Russ Christopher (PVR 90), attempting to bolster an anemic pitching staff. Not surprisingly, Christopher has given the poorest showing of any of the starters for South Holland so far, going 1-2 in 3 starts with a 6.06 ERA. However, his presence has inspired the rest of the rotation, who are currently 6th in the NC in ERA, up from 14th last season. And I would love to tell you about Gear Terrace. However, I apparently am temporarily locked out of that account for too many failed login attempts ![]() In regards to how I'm managing points, missions, AH, etc...so far I have resisted purchasing any packs. I've also not pursued any missions. I'm doing what others are avoiding -- that is, I'm incrementally upgrading my team to be a little more competitive. We'll see how it goes

Most of all be patient and be methodical-I learned that by not being either of those in previous versions. When I tried to chase because I was behind I tied my hands and ended up further behind. Thats my two (for what it's worth) cents. |

Gear Terrace, looking to upgrade a low-grade pitching staff, acquired Snapshot Fred Toney (PVR 96), a screwball pitcher...uh, that is, a pitcher with a solid screwball. Toney rewarded the Warriors with a 2-hit performance against the Cary Southpaws in his Gear Terrace debut.

Right before the season started the Mad Brewers picked up another deadball speedstar (even if he's a little slow for this team) in a 94 rated Roy Thomas. Was the 12k PP better spent on Thomas or on completing missions? I don't know.
(oops - I noticed that my work computer is still logged into the JesseBarfield forum account. Pretend this was written by Madmarcus and it will make more sense) Last edited by JesseBarfield; 04-05-2021 at 07:34 PM. |
