I'm not a big fan of GoAT arguments because I think when it comes to most things the answer depends on context. It's like the LeBron/MJ thing, if you have one season or one series that you need to win right now I don't think there's any question you're taking MJ, but if you're drafting someone for long term success I don't see how you don't take LeBron. In F1 I generally have a really hard time choosing between Fangio, Brabham, Clark, Stewart, Lauda, Piquet, Prost, Senna, Schumacher, Vettel, and Hamilton because all of them could dominate their eras if given the opportunity.

If Max comes back to win the WDC this year I feel like the conversation is basically over. 5 consecutive titles would match Michael, but the difference is that Michael won 5 titles while Ferrari was winning 6. Hamilton won 7 titles in cars that won 8 titles. Max would have 5 titles in a car that won 2 titles. He's outscoring his teammates 306-25. Every time I think he's lost something he puts up results that make no sense whatsoever.

Pole with an exclamation mark for Lando - on one of those tracks where that makes you a sitting duck on the run to the first corner.

At least he's not 8th like Ossie.

God I hope he's not behind Ossie after lap 1.

*puts on tinfoil hat*

Ahem. McLaren is actively hindering Piastri so their golden boy Norris can make a comeback.

*takes hat off*

Anyone but Max.

Are the McLaren lads leaving the verdammt Verstappen in the dust, or is it but a temporary victory?

Oh yes, the hellspawn also gained a few points on the championship leader again...

Did I already mention that Lando is now that championship leader again?

Many thanks also to Oliver Bearboy (he'll be Bearman to me once he stops looking like he's 13) to holding off Ossie at the end and getting a career-best fourth place, and thus taking enough points of Ossie to let Lando (makes sliding motion with his paws) get in front there.

This was not on the broadcast yesterday, but after Liam Lawson pitted for a new front wing on lap 1, and then rejoined the race track, he met a pair of marshals in the middle of the track in the first chicane.

Once again, race control being inept. "Oh, it as a failure to communicate." Yeah that's all well and dandy until a guy gets sucked into the air intake at 150 miles an hour.

The older ones among us might remember the grisly demise of Tom Pryce at Kyalami, 1977 after being smacked in the helmet with the fire extinguisher carried by the marshal that he had just completely obliterated* at full speed after this one and another marshal had crossed the track BEHIND A BLIND CREST to attend to the smoking car of Pryce's own teammate at Shadow, Renzo Zorzi.

While this is a SLOW corner, that doesn't mean the FIA can't get some dumbo killed in a low-speed collision. If you need to clean up the litter, throw a ******* VSC. You don't have qualms about that on the LAST lap of the race, why would there be an issue throwing one on the FIRST lap of the race??

The standard of marshaling and stewarding has gone all to **** under Liberty Media, and the only reason why it's not even more apparent is that the radio channels between team bosses and the head steward were taken off the broadcast after the entire 2021 season was basically a live podcast of Michael Masi's Coffee Table of the Damned.

Absolute disgrace, as usual.

+++

*Legend has it that no identifiable remains of the marshal were left over after the incident. They only found out who the killed marshal was by conducting a roll call after the end of the race and he was the only one missing.

Ayrton Senna, 1991-03-24

Quote:
Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna still has a pained expression on his face as he receives the Brazilian Grand Prix trophy at the Interlagos race track. It was his first victory in Brazil. In the last seven laps, the driver's McLaren gearbox broke and he only used sixth gear.
Quote:
In 1991, Senna became the youngest ever three-time world champion, taking seven wins and increasing his pole position record to 60 from 127 events.
Quote:
As of 2025, this is the last World Championship season to be won by a Brazilian racing driver.

The conspiracy theory that McDimwit are putting the thumb on the scale is kicking into fifth gear again since Ossie's gone running around telling everybody who'll listen that the car drives very differently in these last few rounds, where he drowned compared to Lando.

Mark Webber probably needs to stir the pot a bit. But he's been very silent recently. Probably still recovering from the aneurysm he must have gotten when McDimwit switched the cars at Monza after they botched Lando's pit stop.

In the end none of this will matter. I am very confident that they'll bottle the title to Dutch Max.

What's the weather forecast for Interlagos? I still have PTSD from last year.
