That is a tight, and high quality, pitcher of the year race. Essentially either of these 8 pitchers have a legit chase for the award. Skenes comes on strong in September looking to defend his crown as best pitcher in the West.

SS Joey Ortiz has his 2nd consecutive month of high production, and has become the 2nd most productive position player on the team.

Going to go through each position player as a sort of end of the year review. I want to do an attempt at a "Media Guide" but I'll wait for 2027 to do that.

Roman Anthony surpassed all expectations. Building on his ROY campaign in '25, Anthony threw his hat into the Player of the Year race (top 5) in '26. He won the batting title and also led the West in OBP and doubles. With a high .800s OPS, Athony may still have some growing room, perhaps becoming a 20-20 high average player.

SS Joey Ortiz also outperformed expectations with a ~4 WAR season. A league average bat with excellent defense This could realistically be Ortiz's new expected talent level.

Endy Rodgriguez performed at All-Star Caliber after the trade fro Armando Alvarez with Windy City.

CF Jorge Barrosa also outperformed expectations. Always a high contact batter and great defender, Barrosa hit enough doubles and homers to be an above average bat, making him a valuable piece to the puzzle.

Christian Moore, a 2B prospect, played 1B for much of the year, and while playing only 100G, he led the team in HR. Over a full season, Moore has the ability to produce at a league average rate at 1B.

Church, Gonzalez, and Carlson platooned to provide league average production at RF, DH, and occasionally 1B. Gonzalez destroys lefties, Church punishes righties. Carlson decent against both, will likely be leaving the team after the season (16M/y demand) with DeLatuer in 3A replacing him in the roster.

Palacios gets on base and steal bases. A lefty with reverse splits.

C Tres Barrera is a productive backup C, but may be on the move as C Drew Romo (an elite defensive catcher) may have straightened out some of this batting woes in 3A during 2026.

Arenado is in decline mode. as a high contact batter with slow foot speed, he gets both a lot of RBI and GDPs. His defense is slipping, but Mauricio does not appear ready to replace him. At nearly 30M/y, and producing well below average, 2027 will be Nolan's last year with the franchise.

NGonzalez was not as productive as anticipated. He could return as starter, or StL could move Moore to 2B, and look for alternatives at 1B. A little above average at the plate, but 0.2 WAR in 90 G is not productive enough to remain in the lineup for a competitive team.

A tough luck September prevents Logan Webb in his bid for a 20-win season.

Webb provided the Pitcher of the Year caliber season that he was to provide. Nothing exceptional, just solidly above average in multiple aspects, including consistency as he led the West in Quality Starts.

Scherzer's 4.0 WAR is a surprise. The expectation was closer to league average (2.0). Again, nothing flashy, just strong production across the various aspects of effective pitching. Scherzer seemed to decline in the last 2 months and at age 41, it's a concern. Scherzer will move from SP to LR in the postseason.

Nola had an up and down season, depending largely on whether fly balls were leaving the yard or staying in. He performed pretty much as expected, but has room to improve if he can supress the HRA just a little more.

Kerkering was outsanding as part of the Shires' 3-headed bullpen stopper monster. Pitching over 100 IP and dominating with 42 shutdowns, he has established himself as a legit relief ace.

SP Bello has the highest strikeout rate, walk rate, and HRA rate in the rotation .... giving him a strange mix of being effective, an above average pitcher.

Musgrove, also performed pretty much as expected, and was a solid pitcher despite the HRA. Leading the league in lowest walk rate, he minimized the damage on the HR he did allow.

ST Evan Phillips, or "Sevan Phillips" as he's known in the clubhouse for his propensity to enter the game in the 7th inning to put out a fire. Another StL Stopper that pitched 100 IP and had over 30 shutdowns, leading the league in holds. He was extended for 2 more seasons, 4.4M/y during the season.

JAX surprises ORL with a game 1 win, as Ohtani pitches Nashville to victory.

The series favorites take charge in the WC series.

The East wildcard series wrap up, as Texas and Monterrey continue their heated series.

Corbin Burnes pitches a gem as the Monsters even up their series with LA, with a game 7 set to decide who takes on the Silverbacks in San Diego.

SP Blake Snell slams the door on LA's hopes to face division rival SD in the LDS.

St Louis will host Texas in the LDS, with the Shires take 2 out of 3 vs the Tyrants during the regular season.

Both favorites take an early series lead as the home team.

Logan Webb and the bullpen shut down Texas in the opening game.

Monterrey scores 7 runs late to shock host San Diego.

Underdog Orlando evens the series, as Nashville shocks heavy favorite, and best team in NABO, Montreal as the teams head to Tennessee to continue the series.

StL holds off a late charge by Texas to go up 2-0, while SP Taj Bradley shuts down Monterrey to even the series at 1 win apiece.

Orlando scores 4 runs in the final frame to walk off a series 2-1 lead against the Delegates of DC.

Chandler Simpson leads Nashville to a 2-1 lead against shocked Montreal.

RF Oscar Gonzalez, who the team owner wanted the GM to replace/upgrade, ties the game with a HR and then hits a go ahead double in the 10th. SP Brayan Bello allows just 2 runs through 7 IP.

Burnes continues to be a shutdown postseason hurler as Monterrey takes a series lead.

DC gets 6 early runs as they pull even in the series, as the favorite.

Nashville gets to Soroka early and moves into a commanding, and stunning, 3-1 lead over defending East champs, Montreal.

SP Joe Musgrove left the game after just 0.2 IP with an oblique strain, but veteran Max Scherzer throws 6 innings of shutout relief as the Shires sweep Texas in a stunning series.

Blake Snell outpitches Jordan Montgomery allowing the Monsters to take a strong 3-1 lead.

Pitcher of the year frontrunner, Sasaki pitches Orlando to a surprising 3-2 series lead.

Nashville closes the door in a monumental upset over Montreal. The 2026 postseason was largely viewed to be a contest to see who would lose to Montreal in the World Series ... but Nashville has opened the door for any team to claim the trophy.

Orlando completes the upset series win, meaning that 2 wildcard teams will play in the LCS in the East.

Ace SP Taj Bradley is outstanding in game 6, tying the series 3 all, forcing a game 7 to see who faces StL in the West's LCS.

Down 3-1 to mega talented Monterrey, San Diego completes the comeback to win the series and now prepares to host St Louis in an LCS featuring the 2 teams with the best regular season records in the West.

Ohtani pitches Nashville to an opening game win, in a narrow 3-2 win over surprising Orlando.

In game 1 of the West LCS, Yoan Moncada led of the 3rd inning with a triple and scored on an Abreu SF, putting SD up 1-0.

In the 5th, Abreu gives SD another leadoff triple, and scores on a SF by Marsee, SD up 2-0.

Top of the 6th, rookie Christian Moore led off with a walk. After a fly out by O. Gonzalez, Endy Rodriguez single to right, putting runners at 1st and 2nd. Richie Palacios doubles over the CF head to score both runners and tie the game 2-2.

Bot of 6th - With a runner on 2nd and 2 outs, Marcel Mayer singles, giving SD a 3-2 lead.

Bot of 7th, Marsee walks and steals second, as Shanuel drops a 2-run bomb on Kerkering, SD up 5-2.

Top 8th - With 1 out, O. Gonzalez and Rodriguez hit back to back singles, and Anthony brings a run home with a single of his own (SD 5-3). Carlson and Arenado fly out, leaving 2 runners on and the trailing 5-3, and that would be the final score.

SP Aaron Nola allows 5 runs, 2 ER in the first inning and once again veteran, and HoF bound SP, Max Scherzer enters the game and provides another 6 IP of shutout relief (0 ER in 12 relief innings this postseason). The Shires would make a run late in the game, but StL comes up short and now faces a 0-2 deficit in the LCS.

Orlando, riding the team of destiny vibes, goes up 2-1 in the East in an epic pitcher's duel.

Bello is effective over 7 IP to go with 5 early StL runs, including a 2-run HR by rookie Christian Moore as the Shires get their 1st win of the series.

Orlando regains the series lead as Sasaki outpitches Ohtani.

In the West Musgrove delivers a quality start and StL is able to protect the lead at home, evening the series up at 2, with 3 to play.

Logan Webb is shaky and allows 5 runs as San Diego take a huge road win in StL.

Orlando gets 3 late runs to complete the comeback .... and series win ... to advance to the world series.

In a very bitter pill to swallow, Aaron Nola gives up 5 early runs and former StL SP Jordan Montgomery shuts the door on the Shires season, winning the series at home 4-2.

StL's Kerkering takes home reliever of the year!!!

I've never used the custom award feature, before the '26 version of OOTP, but I did this time .... creating the "WPA King" Award ... given to the player in each league that leads in Win Probability Added.

Sasaki is the unanimous choice in the East and surprisingly Hunter Brown is also the unanimous winner in the West, despite perceptions that it was a close 5-pitcher race.

Recent FA bargain RF Kyle Tucker wins the East's MVP, as defending MVP Julio Rodriguez (also of Montreal) missed the entire month of September with injury. Lindor finishes 2nd, while Triple Crown winner Yordan Alvarez comes stunningly in fourth place.

In the West, the choice was obvious .... Bobby Witt Jr wins his second consecutive MVP award, finishing ahead of Rafael Devers who just missed his own bid on a Triple Crown. Batting champ, Roman Anthony, 5th in MVP voting, after winning ROY last season.
