Game hasn't even started yet, but I saw David Peterson holding a baseball and I already feel like it's Mets 0, Brewers 4 ...

Silly Frankie! How are you going to get that 30th SB if you hit a dinger??

Gotta think these things through, bro.

Mets overcome Boom-Boom Diaz getting thrown into a 5-run game, need one W from up to two attempts tomorrow.

Silly Amazin69. There are two more games tomorrow for Frankie to swipe #30. You'd think I might have recalled that.

******************************
Being so "close" to Atlanta (193.6 miles) blacks me out of SNY tomorrow, so I'm glad the games are on ESPn2, as six hours of Gaudin and Frenchie rooting against the Mets are hardly my idea of fun.

It's probably too much to hope that they'll simply pick up GKR (as MLBN sometimes does), but even Ravech and Coney are a step-up from the Braves crew.

(My luck, ESPn will simply pick up the Atlanta feed…)

I object! ESPn did a nice package of past key Mets-Braves clashes (with some nice Gary and Howie calls), but they included (future Met) Ender Inciarte going over the fence to turn Cespedes's walk-off in September 2016 into the final out of a 3-game sweep.

Now that was a great play, but those three losses didn't mean **** as far as how 2016 played out. No more than the game where we spotted the Phillies the 10-0 lead and still nearly won it. Yes, we lost those games, but we still went 27-13 down the stretch, propelled by Terry Collins' "Las Vegas" speech, turning 60-62 into 87-75, capturing the only Semi-Acceptable Losers' Trophy and getting to host the WCG.

(And then Familia to Conor ****ING Gillaspie and it was all over, but still. 2016 was our year. Don't play Inciarte making the catch and the Braves announcer exulting and pretend they damaged us at all.)

I hope the Mets can win the first one. If they win the first one, I can play the smart game and go to bed instead of watching them until 1am and beyond only to lose twice. I gotta work tomorrow. C'mon, Metsies, make it work.

So you put Mr. Pointy, the guy who had a **** 2nd half, who's having his worst season ever, who might starting to show his age (31) and who is traditionally an OBP guy rather than a slugger…you put Nimmo (.724 OPS) in the 4 slot? That's your plan, Mendoza Line?

I mean, I hope it works, but…

**********************************
It is pretty impressive that the Mets have managed 88 wins (thus far) with so many players underperforming. A patchwork rotation built around Mr. Ghost Fork, who materialized for only a single start before going back to the astral plane.

As far as the lineup goes, Frankie is having a strong year (despite two 1-for-25 skids early on) but who else has contributed all season?

Vientos has been great, but didn't come up until May.
Candelita has burned bright, but didn't come up until June.
Pete has been a disappointment,
JD has been a disappointment, and slumped terribly in September.
Nimmo had two good months, and fell apart at the ASG
McNeil had a rough first half, a hot July and then his knees gave out.
Alvarez is down from last season.

That's a lot of half-parts. Don't really know how they did it.

I guess Tylor doesn't want to risk the Mets sweeping their way to San Diego and his missing another reunion with his brothor, is that it? FFS, Megill, you just saw him this weekend!!

(Does Trev have a hot wife Ty is eyeing? This sort of thing does happen, you know.)

Who says real baseball is dead?? That sure af looked like 2019 Boom-Boom out there.

Ravech somehow forgot to mention that Kelenic was what the Mets traded to get Edlose. I wouldn't trade a Jared Kelenic baseball card for that ****head.

Hey, half a decade later, I can even look at a Jarred Kelenic baseball card without getting a fit of rage.

Boom-Boom Diaz? Not so much.

Tragic Travis NOT bombing the Mets to Kingdom Come for a walkoff??

I think the timeline is very confused.

METS WIN IT - METS IN IT!!

We're allowed to fire Mendoza between games, right?

(I'm on delay for self-care. Carlos has just let Boom-Boom talk him into staying in the game. Are you kidding me??? This isn't even throwing good $$$ after bad; this is burning down your house to collect the insurance and then throwing the policy on the fire, just for giggles.)

Diaz just whiffed Laureano. I so don't care.

(You know, in BASEBALL, we would have had to hit for Edlose in the 9th and this wouldn't even be an issue.)

Travis d'L grounds to short and we actually win it. But FFS!

ETA: Rest Severino and maybe Frankie, but everyone else should play Game 2. FINISH those ****ers! Plus, assuming they already hit the Art Museum (it's lovely) last weekend, there's no need to go back to Milwaukee. Beachward Ho!

The good news is that Boom-Boom now can't ruin the Wild Card Series.

The true crime was using him in a 5-0 game yesterday.

Mets win first game 8-7. Were behind 3-0 heading into top of 8th, then score 6 to take a 6-3. Proceed to give up 4 in the bottom of the 8th to trail 7-6. In the top of the 9th the Mets hit a two-run home run to go ahead 8-7, then hang on to win.

Sale's back is tight, so the Braves are starting Grant Holmes in Game 2.

(Insert Miz gifs from above. At least TRY, guys.)
