2303 CBO Players to Watch
DATE News and Notes
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 13 February 2303 2303 CBO Players to Watch After Sunshine Tidings' SS Paul Warwick and Atom's 2B Rabbit Forest won the 2302 Red Rocket Rookie Awards in the NCA and SCA, respectively, we want to take a look at potential impact players in 2303. These players are still newcomers to the league with less than three years of experience. Here are a few more players beyond Warwick and Forest to watch this season. 1B Chase Doctorman, Vault 81 - Doctorman burst onto the scene in his first full season as a starter, batting .288/28/80. The third-year player has emerged as a home run threat for the Dwellers, leading his team and finishing tied for 6th in the SCA in 2303. The former 5th-overall pick in the 2298 Rookie Draft, Doctorman has now emerged as a player on the MVP watchlist for 2303. CF Willy Mazehaze, FHE - The well-traveled young man began his major league baseball career in the Nuka World League. Trade to FHE before the 2302 season, Mazehaze used his speed to break into the Yao Guai lineup midway through the season. In 58 games played, he batted only .221, but he ran a lot in an aggressive scheme, swiping 13 of 20 steal attempts. In two years with Grape of the NWL, he led the league twice with 30 and 45 stolen bases. SP Whip Lashley, County Crossing - The third-year player is the ace for the Bloodbugs. The one-time third-round pick by Warwick in the 2297 Rookie Draft, Lashley has shined in the County Crossing system since being traded in 2000. In two years as a starting pitcher for the Bugs, Lashley is 25-16 with a 3.78 ERA. Last season, he dropped his ERA to 3.36 and hopes to keep dropping it to get into the Top 10 of the NCA. 1B Duncan MacCready, Roxbury - The SCA's 2301 Red Rocket Award winner, MacCready has bee a steady force for the Rad Sox. While his batting average dipped slightly from .301 to .279, he did lead the SCA in doubles (39). He has power but has yet to perfect his home run swing, hitting only 6 in 2302. That number should rise significantly in 2303. MacCready was originally drafted 8th overall in the 2299 Rookie Draft by the Chemists but was later traded to the Sox for pitcher Scaredy Cat Talbott, who has since flamed out. CF Sharkey Lurkfodder, Oberland - Lurkfodder is one of the great white hopes of the T-51s' hopes to return to prominence. As a rookie, Lurkfodder batted only .235, but he did take advantage of getting on base. In 18 steal attempts, he was successful on 13. He has great speed and great range in the outfield, helping him to contribute runs and keep others off the board. Lurkfodder was originally the 2nd-overall pick in the 2299 Rookie draft by the Bloodbugs. He was later traded to Sunshine Tidings and released less than a year later due to an unnamed incident.

Yeah, finding the right interval is hard, and it's especially hard in a constantly evolving league/landscape. Too bad the in-game news can't be trusted to give you all the high-lights. I mean, that's not a knock, it does as well as it can, but it's an incredibly detailed sim, it's bound to miss a few things (A few weeks ago I had a 28 inning game and the headline focused on a player going 5 for 8... if I had not happened to click the story, I would have missed this incredible event).

2303 Nuka Cup - Rounds 1 + 2
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 28 February 2303 2303 Nuka Cup Rounds 1 and 2 The first two rounds of the 2303 Nuka Cup are complete as of 11:30 PM Friday night with a new set of games scheduled for the next three days. Here are some of the outstanding games of the week with the brackets attached at the end. Top Individual Performance Probably coming as no surprise, Nordhagen Beach's Beachboy Nut started one game and dominated as he always does. The Party Boys ace pitched a complete-game one-hitter, walking three and striking out four in the Boys' 4-0 win over league rival Salem. Heavy Hitter I The Slog's CF Stu Gains started the tournament off right, hitting a home run in Game 1 in the Ghouls' 9-5 win over Atom. He followed that day up by hitting two more bombs in Game 2, a 10-8 Atom win. Heavy Hitter II Lexington's RF Hurr Lee Reyes also hit three home runs in a series. His three came in the Synths series upset at the hands of Quincy. In Game 1, Reyes hit a home run in the Synths' 5-1 victory. In Quincy's series-clinching 6-2 victory, Reyes was the only offensive producer for Lexington, hitting two solo shots. Wildest Game That was in the very first game to start off the 2303 Nuja Cup Tournament. In the University Point Bracket, Concord and Egret dueled for a 19-inning game where the Radstags came out on top, 7-6. The teams combined to use 14 pitchers pitching 136 at bats. Concord 2B Chris Milteer went 5 for 9 in the game with a double and three runs scored. Out of the 30 combined hits, only four were for extra bases, all doubles. CF Pockets Aintfull of the Stags added four hits, two walks, a run, and an RBI. Biggest Upset That is an easy one as the defending CBO champions went down in their home tournament at the hands of 4th-seed Concord, 2 games to 1. The Deathclaws won Game 1, 5-4, with starting pitcher Lennie Landslide pitching the victory and adding a two-run home run to help his own cause. Tomas Jones added two more home runs for the Claws. However, Games 2 and 3 belonged to the Radstags. Concord's Emperry Alizm had the week's second-best pitching performance, pitching a complete-game four-hit shutout with a walk and eight strikeouts in an 8-0 Game 2 victory. In Game 3, the Stags trailed 7-4 entering the top of the ninth going against Claws closer Freedom Williams. Tenthree Leader walked. With one out, Mush Levy singled Gene Leftswipe, who reached on a fielder's choice, to second. Dan Erb then tied the game with a three-run bomb. Dusty Brownell then doubled, advanced to third on a ground out, and then scored the winning run on Williams' wild pitch. Round 3 begins tomorrow at 1:05 PM when Warwick takes on Salem in the Nordhagen Beach bracket. Action completes in the final game of the day when The Slog and Quincy face off in the Jamaica Plain bracket. Action also begins tomorrow in Bradberton when the Season Pass Preseason Tournament between teams in the Nuka World League and Vim! League face off. They play individual games in the Season Pass with one team surviving the double-elimination tournament. The Far Harbor Ghoul Whales won last season's inaugural tournament.

2303 Nuka Cup - Rounds 3 + 4
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 5 March 2303 2303 Nuka Cup Rounds 3 and 4 Round 4 of the 2303 Nuka Cup is complete with 12 teams now remaining. Here are some of the outstanding games of the week with the brackets attached at the end. Top Individual Performance University Point was not happy to lose its first series in the tournament, and it shows. Since that series loss to Concord, the Deathclaws woke up. That was most evident when the Claws put away Finch Farm in the elimination bracket. Tomas Jones was instrumental in Game 3 when he tore up the Four Leafs pitching. Jones was 4 for 4 with two home runs, including a grand slam, with a walk, three runs scored, and seven RBI. Heavy Hitter Diamond City's Oren Gep could not prevent his team from being eliminated, but he sure tired. The Swatters first bagger hit a home run in DC's 8-1 victory and then two home runs in a 9-5 loss to Easy Town in the series clincher Pitcher Extraordinaire Roxbury may have been knocked down by Nordhagen Beach, but the Rad Sox's Eugene Gym made sure it was not a sweep. Gym pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits, walking two, and striking out five in a 2-0 victory over the Boys. All three hits were singles. Wildest Game Maybe they just don't have pitching, but the 13-11 shootout with Quincy topping The Slog was a hitter's dream and a pitching coach's nightmare. Gunners' 35-year-old 1B Geoff Fair had one heck of a game he never had in his regular-season career. Fair, who has one career home run, went 3 for 5 with a home run, a run, and six RBI. CF John Rose was 4 for 5 with a home run, a walk, three runs, and an RBI. There were a total of 18 walks in the game against 12 strikeouts. Season Pass Report The Season Pass Tournament is 20 games in with 12 of the 18 teams remaining and just four undefeated teams: #1 Echo Lake, #3 Dalton Farm, #7 Cranberry Island, and #12 Grape.

2303 Nuka Cup - Rounds 5 + 6
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 14 March 2303 2303 Nuka Cup Rounds 5 and 6 All four regional tournaments are complete with the last four teams remaining. None of the four remaining were the host teams, thus #1 seeds, as both remaining #1 seeds, Nordhagen Beach and Fort Hagen, fell in the finals. Now, the four regional teams move on to Diamond City where they will play in the semifinals with the losers moving on to the Third-Place Series and the winners playing for the 2303 Nuka Cup crown. Those four winners are as follows with the brackets attached below: University Point Bracket Winner - #3 Vault 81 Dwellers Fort Hagen Bracket Winner - #3 Starlight Lady Killers Nordhagen Beach Bracket Winner - #2 Roxbury Rad Sox Jamaica Plain Bracket Winner - #3 Atom Cats Vault 81 and Starlight will face off in one of the semifinals series, while Roxbury and Atom will face off in the other. Top Individual Performance The Rad Sox's Gwinnett Southie held Goodneighbor in check for 8.1 innings of shutout ball. He allowed just three hits and struck out three in the 1-0 Roxbury win. The Hancocks' Quincy Eloquent also pitched a good game in the pitchers' duel by allowing just one earned run on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Heavy Hitter Atom's 32-year-old RF Melon Sanderson is having one heck of a preseason so far. Sanderson has gone deep four times in the 2303 Nuka Cup Tournament, including two more in the Jamaica Plain Bracket Final Series versus County Crossing. In Game 1, a 14-2 thrashing by the Cats to give them a 2-0 series lead, Sanderson was 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, a walk, two runs scored, and three RBI. In the series-clinching Game 3, Sanderson was only 1 for 2, but that one hit proved to be the game-winning home run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Sanderson also walked twice, scored once, and drove himself in. Wildest Game Offense has not been spectacular so far in the 2303 Nuka Cup Tournament with lots of low-scoring games overall. Down 2 games to 0 in their series, Roxbury went on to win the next three to clinch the Nordhagen Beach Bracket over the host Party Boys. That included a shootout in Game 4 when the Rad Sox won 14-9. The Sox thrashed starter Matt Ranger, scoring nine runs in the first two innings. They added three more in the 5th for a 12-0 lead at that time before holding off the Boys' comeback efforts. Six Sox and five Boys had multiple hits in the game. Roxbury's catcher, Biddy Swenson, outdueled everyone for Game MVP honors, going 2 for 4 with a double, a home run, a walk, three runs scored, and four driven in. Dirty Dog Sapienza was the Boys' best run producer, going 2 for 5 with two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI. Season Pass Report The Season Pass Tournament is now to its final two teams, the top two seeds in the tournament, #1 Echo Lake Harbormen and #2 Victory Cave Crickets. Those two teams faced off in the 2302 Season Pass Series to determine the best of the NWL-VL alliance. The Harbormen need to win just one game in the finals, while the Cave Crickets would need to beat Echo Lake twice. Main Season Pass Association writer Evan Guy is set to cover the finals report, which we will blast out to our baseball fans in the Boston area.

Slight Adjustments, Big Failures
I was checking out the crops of players coming into the BYDL and noticed that many were from the New England area rather than just Masachusetts. So, I thought I would help generate the new crop being the first "homegrown" group of freshman. Therefore, I changed the BYDL region from New England to Massachusetts. Looking at the lineups the day before the new crop would enter, I noticed that suddenly every team was thin. Looking at the transactions, each team but about 10 or so players and most of those 14-16 year olds showed as retired from baseball. WTF?
Looking more closely, my adjustment in region somehow told the AI that no one born outside of Massachusetts was allowed to play in the league and thus every person born in Connecticut, Rhode Island, etc., was cut and retired. Ouch! I have thus spent a good amount of time going through and adding back each of those players to their teams after switching the region back to Massachusetts. They no longer show their class (So, Jr, Sr), though, so I have no idea how that will go for draft eligibility later. Anyway, beware of slight adjustments! I want to adjust some statistical outputs, but I am afraid I will break leagues now. Maybe I will sit out those adjustments until I have time to test ramifications of adjustments made.

Glad pre-season is getting interesting near the end, it seemed like our favorites were just going to march through at first, but there's been some upsets now.
At least with OOTP being easy to change, it's relatively easy to fix usually, so hopefully that's just a speed bump. I wish most of my other games were this easy to tinker with. |

Season Pass Tournament Finals
Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, NWLB, and APYL Leagues by Evan Guy 15 March 2303 Victory-Echo Lake Rematch Marks Power Play in NWL, VL When the NWL's Victory Cave Crickets and the VL's Echo Lake Harbormen met in the 2303 Season Pass Series, a seven-game series between the two leagues' champions, there was some doubt on how competitive the league from an island in Maine could do versus the powerhouse league of Bradberton and the Nuka-World area. The Harbormen ended that discussion, winning the second Season Pass Series, four games to one. Coming into the 2303 season, then, the NWL had something else to prove. That's where they could showcase the changes and improvements through the preseason's Season Pass Tournament. As it turned out, both Echo Lake and Victory proved to still be the best of the best in the two leagues. On March 14, with the Harbormen one win away, both the Harbormen and Cave Crickets battled for the 2302 championship. As a reference, the runners-up in the 2301 Season Pass Series, the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales of the Vim! League, won the 2302 Season Pass Tournament. That gave Victory hope. Victory then achieved their name in the first matchup, winning 3-2 to force a 35th game and winner-take-all matchup for March 15. In the 3-2 win, one of the Crickets' star pitchers, Laurence Crash, was the hero, allowing two earned runs on six hits with three walks and nine strikeouts in 8.0 innings of work. Patch Batman pitched the ninth for the save. The Crickets were led offensively in Game 34 by 1B Settler Colon. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI. His 6th-inning bomb against Echo Lake starter Jesse Prentiss proved to be the winning run, giving the Crickets a 3-0 lead at the time. Prentiss allowed three earned runs on eight hits with a walk and seven strikeouts in 8.0 innings. He was also 1 for 2 with a walk, a run, and an RBI. In Game 35, Echo Lake led the entire time in taking the Season Pass Tournament title, 5-3. The Harbormen's Berg Poppy led the way, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout. Victory's John Diner got the loss by allowing three earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts in 7.0 innings. The Harbormen's Sheep Sanchez earned the save by allowing one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts in 2.0 innings. Echo Lake started the scoring early on Diner, getting two runs in the top of the 1st inning. RF Chris Oaks led off the game by bunting for a single on the first pitch. After stealing second, Oaks scored on a one-out double by LF Edgar Virus. Virus was then thrown out at home on the next at bat on Keagan Heat's single. However, Heat scored when 3B Hollywood Simmons singled. Two of Victory's three runs came on solo home runs. Their first run came in the bottom of the 5th still trailing 2-0. C Bobby Stanberry hit a home run off Poppy to cut the lead to one. Stanberry finished the game 2 for 3 with a double, a home run, a walk, two runs, and an RBI. The final run came in the bottom of the 9th trailing 5-2 at the time. 2B Shawn Burton, who was 0 for 4 coming into the bat, hit a deep home run with the Cave Crickets down to their final pitch. Burton also added another RBI in the 7th on an RBI groundout that scored Stanberry. The Harbormen had three players with two hits apiece. Virus and Simmons were two of those players. Virus was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI. The NWL regular season begins April 20 when the Quartz Star Force take on the Cherry Ghoulrillas. The Cave Crickets begin the next day when all eight NWL teams play. Victory will take on the Dark Bloodworms on April 21 at Dark's Ol' Sugartop Ballpark at Dry Rock Gulch. The Vim! League's regular season starts on April 5. Echo Lake will travel to Dalton Farm for their first two games before hosting the Fogcrawlers in the next two. Winners from each league will face off for the third time at a yet-to-be-determined date in August.

2303 Nuka Cup - Semifinals
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 17 March 2303 2303 Nuka Cup Semifinals at The Great Green Jewel Vault 81 Dwellers (RL) vs Starlight Lady Killers (IL) Game 1: Star 5 vs Vault 81 13 The Dwellers pounded out seven runs in the bottom of the 1st, quickly chasing Starlight's Jonathan Newman who got just one out and gave up a scary 189 ERA for the game. Newman won 10 games in 2302. Edwin Mass earned the win for Vault 81, allowing three earned runs on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in 8.0 innings. 3B Mark Dombrowski had the most impressive day offensively. He was 4 for 6 with a double, two home runs, three runs, and six RBI. 2B Harry Byrd added three hits and a home run. SS Knud Bather doubled twice. Starlight's best hitter was LF Ryan Raider, going 2 for 3 with a triple, a home run, two runs, and three RBI. Game 2: Starlight 6 vs Vault 81 7 The Dwellers scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 9th on Chris Wickliffe's RBI single to score Chase Doctorman from third with two outs. The win clinched the series for Vault 81 with one game to go. Starlight ended up avoiding the sweep by taking Game 3, 7-6. In Game 2, the Dwellers again had a big inning. This time it was in the bottom of the 7th. Trailing 5-1, Vault 81 started to open it up against Lady Killers starter Chris Schneier and reliever Bobby Tippecanoe. Mark Dombrowski led off the inning with a single to end Schneier's day. Tippecanoe then came in to face Mace Pageturner who answered by hitting a straight left-field shot on the first pitch he saw. That cut the Starlight lead to 5-3. Bloatfly Williams then singled and Aesed Hayjen reached on a dropped infield popup by Killers SS Nick Maris. Deer Quickwalker then singled to load the bases. After Williams was out at home on a fielder's choice, Harry Byrd singled in Hayjen to cut the lead to 5-4. Tippecanoe then walked Mike Laughingman to tie the score. Alex Alexson then came in to relieve Tippecanoe. The first batter he faced, Straight QuaLiTy, reached on an error after a nine-pitch at bat that included fouling off five straight pitches after a 3-0 count. Vault 81 then took a 6-5 lead once Doctorman crossed the plate. The Dwellers would relinquish that lead in the 8th before the walk-off win. Roxbury Rad Sox (RL) vs Atom Cats (ML) Game 1: Atom 4 vs Roxbury 2 Dee Dee Martinson of Atom and Eugene Gym of Roxbury had a short duel with Martinson's Cats coming out on top. Martinson's pitching line: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 BB. Gym: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K. Jake Doucette and Justin Daros each tripled for Atom. Daros had the team's best offensive line: 2 for 4, triple, run, RBI. Deerlord Fugivmee and Edward Cox each had two hits for the Rad Sox. Duncan MacCready and Chris Connexx had Roxbury's only extra-base hits, both doubles. Game 2: Atom 1 vs Roxbury 5 Rad Sox SP Whokill Poole pitched 7.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on two hits with five walks and five strikeouts. That one run came in the top of the 1st when the Cats' Earthbound Bussey led off the game with a solo home run. That proved to be the only offense Atom could manage in the game as the Rad Sox tied the series, 1-1. Roxbury's Edward Cox helped to put the game away in the bottom of the 7th when he hit a two-run home run to make the score 4-1 at the time. Second-year 3B Donn Mattingley had two hits for the Sox. Game 3: Atom 8 vs Roxbury 7 The Cats trailed 7-5 entering the top of the 9th and scored three runs to win the series against Roxbury and advance to the Nuka Tournament finals against Vault 81. Roxbury paraded out closer Andy Helium, who had 22 saves in 2302, in the top of the 9th with the two-run lead. With one out, though, Atom started its comeback. Earthbound Bussey singled. After Rabbit Forest flew out, the Cats were down to their final out with the tying run at the plate. Jake Doucette then answered the call with a two-strike single. LF Machete Thompson became the hero, hitting a pinch-hit three-run home run for the 8-7 lead. Thompson hit a career-high 11 home runs in 2302. Bussey was 4 for 5 in the game with three runs scored. RF Melon Sanderson was 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, a run, and two RBI. He was named Game MVP.

2303 Nuka Cup - Finals
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 20 March 2303 2303 Nuka Cup Third-Place Series at The Great Green Jewel Roxbury Rad Sox (RL) vs Starlight Lady Killers (IL) Game 1: Star 3 vs Roxbury 18 The Rad Sox poured on the uranium in falling the Lady Killers. 1B Dustin MacCready, playing in front of his home settlement crowd, was 5 for 6 with a double, two runs scored, and five driven in. Other offensive standouts for Roxbury included 3B Donn Mattingley (2/5, HR, BB, 2 R, 4 RBI) and 2B Chris Connexx (2/4, HR, 2 BB, 4 R, 3 RBI). Starlight's 1B Zeldolph Violet led his team by going 3 for 4 with a homer, a run scored, and two RBI. RF David Seaweed also had a home run. Rad Sox starting pitcher Nuke Laloosh allowed two earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched. Jack Arasmith pitched the final three innings to earn the save. Starlight's Ray Human suffered the loss. In 5.0 innings, he allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout. Bobby Tippecanoe continued his horrid preseason, allowing five earned runs on three hits with two walks in 1/3 of an inning. In all, Lady Killers relievers allowed 14 earned runs in just three innings of work. Game 2: Starlight 5 vs Roxbury 7 The Rad Sox won the second game to give them the third-place finish in the 2303 Nuka Cup Tournament. LF Young Goodman led the Sox to victory by going 3 for 5 with a home run, a run, and two RBI. Roxbury collected 17 hits in the game with seven extra-base hits, including six doubles. Dustin MacCready remained hot, going 3 for 5 with two doubles, a run, and an RBI. Roxbury had five players with multiple hits, including four players with three hits apiece. CF Glenn Higinbotham led the Lady Killers in hitting, going 2 for 3 with a home run, a run, and an RBI. David Seaweed also homered and drove in two total runs. Eugene Gym was the winning pitcher despite not having a great game. In 7.0 innings pitched, the former first-overall draft pick allowed five earned runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Andy Helium got the final two outs of the game in the 9th to earn the save. Starlight's Jonathan Newman had the start but had a no decision. He allowed 12 hits and four earned runs with a walk in 5.0 innings. Justin Sphinx was the loser in relief. He allowed three earned runs on four hits in 1.0 innings pitched. Both teams played a third game despite it not counting towards the third-place finish. Starlight won that one, 11-4, with Seaweed and Glen Higinbotham each having three hits and homering. Deerlord Fugivmee had three hits for Roxbury, including a triple. 2303 Nuka Cup Championship Series at The Great Green Jewel Vault 81 Dwellers (RL) vs Atom Cats (ML) Game 1: Vault 81 1 vs Atom 0 Quentin Malone and Scruffy Taguchi battled in a pitcher's duel ultimately taken by the Dwellers. In 6.2 innings, Malone did not allow a run, allowed two hits, walked three, and struck out six. Dave Caveman picked up the win in relief, finishing the 7th inning when Malone tired out. The Dwellers scored the winning run in the top of the 8th. That winning run came off Taguchi, who allowed the single run in 8.0 innings pitched. He allowed two hits, both in the 8th inning, walked two, and struck out four. Going into the top of the 8th, Vault 81 had yet to get a hit in the game and only had one base runner previously on a Taguchi walk. Chase Doctorman then ended the no-hitter with a leadoff single. Knud Bather walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Mike Laughingman then hit an RBI double for the 1-0 lead. It was the only extra-base hit out of five total between the two teams. Game 2: Vault 81 2 vs Atom 3 Just like Game 1, offense was hard to come by in Game 2, though the hit out put was much better with Vault 81 getting eight total hits and the Cats getting nine. Three of those hits came in the bottom of the 9th with the game tied 2-2. With the Dwellers' Tom Rose on the mound, Atom's Garrett Machine hit a one-out single and then advanced to third on Justin Daros' double. After Machete Thompson reached on a fielder's choice that saw Machine out at home and Daros advancing to third, Earthbound Bussey walked it off with a two-out RBI single. Each starting pitcher had a quality start. Vault 81's Edwin Mass allowed two earned runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched. Rose pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing that one run. Atom's Deedee Martinson allowed two earned runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 8.1 innings. Chopsticks McWilliams pitched the final 0.2 innings, allowing one hit, walking one, and striking out two to earn the win. Jeremy Schoolboy knocked in the Cats' first two runs in the bottom of the 1st on a two-run home run. Vault 81's Harry Byrd was 2 for 3. Mark Dombrowski knocked in the Dwellers' only two runs on a 5th-inning home run. Game 3: Vault 81 5 vs Atom 9 Offense finally took over as the Cats blasted their way to the 2303 Nuka Cup crown. RF Melon Sanderson led the way, going 3 for 3 with a double, a home run, two walks, two runs, and two RBI. Earthbound Bussey and Rabbit Forest also had three hits apiece for the Cats. All eight starters had at least one hit. Atom also had nine extra-base hits with six doubles and three home runs. Forest and Jeremy Schoolboy were the others to homer. Callie Love led the Dwellers in hits by going 3 for 4 with a double, a run, and an RBI. SP Randy Kaplan led the team in RBI by hitting a two-RBI double in the 2nd inning that helped give Vaukt 81 a 4-0 lead at that time. The Dwellers scored the game's first five runs. Chase Doctorman homered for Vault 81. Five different Atom pitchers combined to get the win with no one pitching more than 3.0 innings. Starter Pete Pembroke pitched 3.0 innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts. The four Atom relievers then gave up four hits and no runs in the final six innings. Danny Scorcher was the pitcher of record by pitching in the 6th inning when Atom took its first lead, 6-5. Vault 81 starter Kaplan allowed three earned runs on eight hits with four walks and six strikeouts in 5.0 innings pitched. Tennessee Tailor was the losing pitcher, allowing three earned runs on three hits with two homers allowed in 0.2 innings. Fillmore Hofmann also allowed three earned runs in 2.0 innings.

BYDL Players of Note
BNN Youth Leagues Monthly Report This Month in the BYDL, CCYL, and PJPL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 28 March 2303 BYDL Players of Note The OSA scouting service has ranted and raved about different youth players over the years. Some of them have proven to be stars in the making, while some others have come and gone. Today, we will take a look at a few Boston Youth Development League players who might shine in 2303. All players are in their second or third year in the BYDL. RF Shill Gehrig, Soph, Wattz Ups: Considered a natural leader, Gehrig could find himself at the top of the draft in 2304 or 2305. He has a high motor and works every day to get better. Scouts consider him to have plus-plus raw power. He likes to watch pitches, so that should serve him well in his patience. May not be the best pure contact hitter out there, but he has capabilities to punish balls. 2302 Stats: 64 GS, 58/224 (.259), 18 2B, 8 HR, 31 R, 40 RBI, 26 BB, 76 SO, 3 CS, .342 OBP LF Schoolboy Graves, Soph, South Charles Bank Moonies: Also a leader who will propel himself up the draft. The second-year player has ideas and people listen to what he has to say. Well-liked in South Charles Bank. A power-hitting left fielder who can also hit for average. Will see the base paths a lot. Needs to work on defense but showed his first season that he can hit. 2302 Stats: 36 GS, 48/128 (.375), 15 2B, 16 HR, 27 R, 49 RBI, 1 SB, 25 BB, 28 SO, .474 OBP SP Kyle Gunnels, Jr, Diamond City Newsboys: One of the hardest-working players in the BYDL. Hurt much of 2302 so looking to bounce back after strong 2301 season where he was 10-3 in 17 starts. Has two excellent pitches in his slider and fastball but needs to work more on improving his changeup. His stuff has explosiveness and may be elite enough to make him a future CBO ace. 2302 Stats: 6 GS, 3-0, 4.31, 31.1 IP, 35 H, 15 ER, 3 HR, 7 BB, 38 K, 1.34 WHIP SP Jordan Jones, Soph, North Charles Bank Goonies: Had a positive attitude despite getting little run support in his starts. Well adapted to the situations and could fit on any team. Works to improve his successes. Throws a lot of different pitches with some of them as trash pitches. Should focus on improving his best pitches: changeup, slider, and fastball. He may want to drop his forkball and splitter since they have not led to great results. Likes to work balls on the corners of the plate and tries to throw unhittable strikes rather than waste pitches with balls. Ace potential if his best three pitches become dominant. 2302 Stats: 17 GS, 5-8, 3.35 ERA, 107.1 IP, 116 H, 40 ER, 8 HR, 33 BB, 130 K, 1.39 WHIP LF Trey Lickrock, Jr, Lynn Pier Gamers: Saw a dip in performance from freshman to sophomore years but should improve in 2303. Curious sort that absorbs all information and uses it to his advantage. Highly coachable and will thrive with a good coaching staff in the GBRL. Good contact potential could allow him to hit for a high average. When he hits a ball cleanly, it can travel a long distance. Could be a mega star in a park with a short leftfield distance. Would not be surprised to see him in future all-star games. 2302 Stats: 64 GS, 85/270 (.315), 25 2B, 1 3B, 15 HR, 60 R, 78 RBI, 27 BB, 47 SO, .394 OBP SP Flirt Perez, Jr, Pleasant Minigunners: Has a few maturity issues that need to be addressed. Talented ball player but does not always keep his head on straight. Follows the wrong people. Has three pitches working for him and one, his splitter, that may need to be scrapped in time. One of the best off-speed pitchers we've seen with ruthless changeup and curve. Looks to be a command pitcher that keep pitches out of hitters' sweet spots. Forces a lot of groundouts. Has ace potential but may not need to be to be considered a success. 2302 Stats: 17 GS, 7-3, 1.40 ERA, 96.1 IP, 79 H, 15 ER, 0 HR, 22 BB, 134 K, 1.05 WHIP, 5.4 WAR SS Aaron Squire, Jr, Spectacle Island Reapers: Not much of a standout personality, neutral mindset. Can adapt well, including moving to Spectacle Island to play ball two years ago. Fit in well right away. His bat is not powerful for the CBO level but he is good at finding holes in the defense. Could be a .300+ hitter at the CBO level. Best asset is his defense which will help him be an elite prospect from the beginning. Seems to have a future as an everyday SS. 2302 Stats: 46 GS, 75/198 (.379), 11 2B, 16 HR, 47 R, 49 RBI, 23 BB, 25 SO, 2 SB, 1 CS, .440 OBP 1B Syd Thriftstore, Soph, State House Orphans: Not the most cerebral player but tries hard to understand. Once he gets it, he gets it. Can adapt to different situations but needs extra reps. Needs to be reminded of situations so best suited to play 1B. Already really strong and able to hit the ball a long way. Potential to lead the CBO in homers and probably will lead the BYDL in 2303. Puts the bat on the ball a lot so can hit for average, too. Defense abilities not the best but probably not a detriment either. 2302 Stats: 65 GS, 105/265 (.396), 17 2B, 24 HR, 75 R, 100 RBI, 51 BB, 45 SO, 1 SB, 2 CS, .495 OBP, 4.5 WAR SP Boxer Rigger, Soph, Thompson Heights Earthlings: Leader, loyal, high work ethic. Perfect teammate and coach's pet. Curious and outspoken about the world at large. Three-pitch repertoire with his best pitch being his accurate curveball. Great control and placement of his pitches, especially his curve. Has potential to be an ace and should show much improvement in his second year. 2302 Stats: 17 GS, 6-6, 4.06 ERA, 102.0 IP, 119 H, 46 ER, 5 HR, 38 BB, 112 K, 1.54 WHIP 3B Rip Risk, Soph, West Quincy Atomatoys: Highly self-confident player. Not likely to change his mind once he has made it up. Not greedy but does expect to be treated fairly. Has great potential at the plate where he has great situational awareness. He can hit for contact, swing for the fence, or just watch junkballs miss the strikezone. Could have a high OBP in the CBO. Needs to work on his defense so that he is not a liability. Great arm but does not always watch the ball into the glove on grounders. 2302 Stats: 61 GS, 92/255 (.361), 17 2B, 2 3B, 17 HR, 62 R, 58 RBI, 33 BB, 30 SO, 4 CS, .440 OBP

Vim! Voyage
Vim! Voyage Visiting Vim! League Vacation Venues by Vikky Vail 2 April 2303 Echo Lake Lumber On the day the world ended, so to speak, the vacant land after the war was ready for an exciting competition: lumberjacking. This valorous competition included log rolling and using vast saws to cut down vertical poles. Now, the settlements of Echo Lake have recreated those competitions with many counting log rolling as their favorite sport. After baseball, of course. Echo Lake is the home of the current Vim! League and Season Pass Association champions. Known as The Lumber Yard, the Echo Lake stadium is a showcase of its valiant lumbering past. Like Far Harbor, Echo Lake is a home for the Harbormen and one of the places where Small Bertha spends a lot of her time. They have established some of their same interests in fishing and hunting creatures of the land and sea. With the restoration of Briney's Bait and Tackle, locals and visitors alike can get all the supplies they need for traversing the wilderness. The Harbormen of Echo Lake have also made food kiosks a part of the experience. Located near the main building, the kiosks serve a voluminous array of treats, entrees, and sides. At the Vim! Stand, people can treat themselves to all four Vim! flavors. Echo Lake is a fun stronghold on the western side of Mount Desert Island. Viewing the lumberjacking competitions, the baseball games, or the quality supplies for visiting the swamps, there is something for everyone venturing into the settlement.

I'm gonna once again say I'm intrigued by the idea of seafood flavored soda they have going on up there, would be worth visiting the league just for that haha.

It might be popular in Louisiana. I'm not sure about the fishy flavor, but if it tasted like boiled seafood . . .

2303 CBO Predictions
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO by Nat Wright-Kawolski 6 April 2303 Feature: Pam's Picks Opening day is here, and the illustrious assaultron, P.A.M., has made her picks. Based on her selections shown below, PAM has picked the County Crossing Bloodbugs to defeat the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets for the Sole Survivor Series. Based on her predictions, the following teams will be in the playoffs: North Charles Association 1. County Crossing 2. Concord 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Fort Hagen 5. Starlight PAM expects the County Crossing Bloodbugs to slip past two-time defending North Charles Association champions, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, by one game. Concord, which won the Institute League just two seasons ago, is expected to outpace both the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud and the Starlight Lady Killers for supremacy in the league in 2303. PAM repeats her 2032 picks for the top hitter and pitcher in the NCA, again both Party Boys in RF Jonathan Angelou and SP Beachboy Nut, respectively. Behind Angelou, Starlight's 1B Zeldolph Violet, Concord's 1B Dusty Brownell, and Boys' LF Michael Fogcrawler are expected to compete. The Bugs' Whip Lashley, Nordhagen Beach's Chet Arthur, and Fort Hagen's Mike Cartrette are expected to be other top pitchers. South Charles Association 1. Jamaica Point 2. Roxbury 3. University Point 4. Atom 5. Diamond City PAM repeats her prediction that 2302 #1 seed, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, will make the jump to the top in the South Charles Association, slightly edging out University Point for the Minutemen League crown and #1 seed. Roxbury is expected to overtake Diamond City for supremacy in the Railroad League. At the bottom, the Warwick Mirelurks are expected to be by far the worst team in the CBO. Among rumors of owner Roger Warwick losing interest in owning the team, that could be a problem for Commissioner Nate Howard. Like in 2302, the Deathclaws' 1B Barker Cocoa is PAM's choice to run away with the Nuka-Hitter Award in the South Charles Association. Other batters expected to contend are Vault 81's 2B Harry Byrd and 1B Chase Doctorman and Roxbury's Young Goodman. PAM's pick for the Vim! Pitcher Award is the Red Rockets' Chris Teddybear who has always been excellent when healthy. Eugene Gym of Roxbury, Jamaica Plain's Chris Deathclaw, and the Rad Sox's Nuke Laloosh are expected to all contend for the top two pitching staffs in the SCA.

Hmmm, for once I don't really take major issue with PAM's predictions. Of course it's still a Monte Carlo sim, so it's unlikely to be *the* snapshot at the end of the season, but I always find these ones where our favorites are #2 instead of first or last to be more "realistic".
