University Point and Roxbury should indeed win their divisions, but it did take a sweep by the Claws to give themselves a little distance in the Minutemen League. But you are right. Wildcard races should be wild, and there are several of those teams capable of winning it all: Nordhagen Beach (one of the hottest teams over the past couple months), Atom, Diamond City, FHE as featured, Goodneighbor, and Jamaica Plain as a dark horse.

Thanks to rolling two max events in July, there was some movement. When Warwick was the "winner" of the supermax event (rolled four 1's), then I knew it was time to make the first-ever big change to a location. Sorry, Warwick, but too many people complain of the smell out there. More and more people are starting to commute to work the farms and water-purifying chem plant out there. More and more people are coming in from Quincy these days or taking the ferry from Spectacle Island.

2303 All-Star Game
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 21 July 2023 SCA Defeats NCA, 6-5, in Tight All-Star Game During the star-studded affair, the 2303 South Charles Association All-Stars defeated the North Charles Association All-Stars by a score of 6-5. The fans in attendance at Finch Family Park certainly enjoyed the show, seeing the best that the game had to offer. Chief among the stars was Barker Cocoa, who led the South Charles Association to victory, thanks in part to his grand slam off County Crossing's Gavin Eviritts in the 3rd inning. He added an RBI groundout in the 5th inning to account for five runs batted in. "I will admit I was nervous out there. To share a field with such incredible players is always a humbling experience. But after the first couple pitches, you just have to ignore the talent out there and focus on your game," Cocoa commented as he accepted his award after the game. Nordhagen Beach's CF Maxx Murtagh and the Bloodbugs' RF Babs Rooth had the best showings for the North Charles Association, accounting for all five runs scored. Murtagh was 2 for 2 with a two-run home run off Roxbury's Eugene Gym in the 4th inning. Rooth was 1 for 2 with a three-run bomb off Atom RP Danny Scorcher. The Cats' 2B Rabbit Forest drove in the game's winning run in the 7th inning when he had an RBI walk with the bases loaded against the Bloodbugs' CL Jesse Bibeault. RP Tennessee Tailor of Vault 81 was credited with the win. CL Doug Dee El of Jamaica Plain was credited with the save. Bibeault was the losing pitcher after walking three, including the game-winner. Finch Farm's Isaiah Swindler and Atom's Scruffy Taguchi each got the starting nod. All pitchers pitched exactly one full inning with Bibeault throwing the most pitches (31). The Rad Sox's Nuke Laloosh got out of his inning with just eight pitches thrown in a 1-2-3 set. Cocoa had a great All-Star weekend, finishing as the runner-up in the Home Run Challenge to Nordhagen Beach's Jonathan Angelou before earning the All-Star Game MVP award. Cocoa has played in 532 games with a .331 lifetime batting average (6th all-time). Among his 551 hits are 97 doubles, 5 triples, and 115 home runs. He also has scored 427 runs (9th) and driven in 327 runs. He is currently the CBO career leader in OBP (.498), OPS (1.10), and walks (528); he is also currently the 2303 season leader in all three categories, as well as SLG (.728), WAR (6.7), OPS+ (244), WPA (5.95), and wOBA (.533). Teams now get a two-day rest before intra-league action resumes on Friday, July 24. Some key weekend matchups include Concord (41-36) at Abernathy (38-39), Starlight (39-38) at Fort Hagen (44-33), Goodneighbor (44-33) at Atom (46-31), and Roxbury (52-25) at FHE (45-32).

July 2303
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 27 July 2303 Feature Story: Same Teams, Different Year We are now two-thirds of the way through the 2303 season with the All-Star break happening less than a week ago. With that said, the playoff race is starting to look quite familiar. First, let's look at the final 2302 standings in order of rank for the five playoff teams per association. North Charles Association: Nordhagen Beach, Fort Hagen, County Crossing, Starlight, Finch Farm South Charles Association: Diamond City, Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, University Point, Atom If the playoffs were to start today, four of the NCA teams would be the same with Concord replacing the Four Leafs. Also, in the SCA, three of the five would be the same. Diamond City, which is tied for 4th but would miss due to tiebreakers, and Jamaica Plain, which currently trails by four games in the wildcard race would be replaced. In their stead would be FHE and Goodneighbor. In short, 7 out of 10 teams from last year's playoff run would be right back in it this season. What does this mean? Well, for one, the CBO has gained some stability with the same teams currently at the top being steady in their talent acquisition. At the same time, looking at the BNN Top Systems Report, very few of these teams currently in a playoff spot have much of a future for developing homegrown talent. The top ten "farm" systems look like this: The Slog, Oberland, Salem, Egret, Warwick, Jamaica Plain, Finch Farm, Roxbury, Quincy, and Sunshine Tidings. As you can see, only the Rad Sox have enough talent to be true buyers in the current trade season, with other outside contenders like the Rockets, Leafs, and Chemists having a little buying power to put themselves in wildcard contention. A deeper look would show that the same teams in the playoffs seemingly every year have a lot of talent to show. Looking at the top 10 ranked hitters and pitchers, you can see that many are on those teams currently in the playoff run. Batters: #1 1B Barker Cocoa, University Point; #3 C Biter Trout, County Crossing; #5 RF Babs Rooth, County Crossing; #6 CF Maxx Murtagh, Nordhagen Beach; #8 CF Ben Pawlak, Fort Hagen; #9 RF Jonathan Angelou, Nordhagen Beach Pitchers: #1 SP Nuke Laloosh, Roxbury; #2 SP Scruffy Taguchi, Atom; #3 SP Derek Green, Fort Hagen; #4 SP Beachboy Nut, Nordhagen Beach; #7 SP Gavin Eviritts, County Crossing; #8 SP Eugene Gym, Roxbury; #10 SP Emperry Alizm, Concord. In a further dive, looking at the Sole Survivor Series participants since the full CBO formed in 2298, all but 2298's Easy Town Assaultrons (currently tied for 6th in the NCA standings) and 2299 and 2300's Diamond City Swatters (currently 6th in the SCA standings) would be back in. That list includes Goodneighbor (2298), Fort Hagen (2299, 2300), Nordhagen Beach (2301, 2302), Atom (2301), and University Point (2302). Last season's Deathclaws versus Party Boys matchup is within the realm of possibility, maybe even probability. Fans of the teams that are making the playoffs every season can rejoice for now. This league is dynamic and the teams that have been struggling but building for seasons, like the Oberland T-51s, could find themselves in much the same position Roxbury is in now. Only time will tell. Analysis County Crossing is again #1 after a 6-2 record in the last two weeks. The Bloodbugs swept Starlight (#14), won two of three at Salem (#19), and won two of three versus Easy Town (#13). County Crossing also possesses the best record (56-24) in the CBO. Roxbury returns to #2 despite going 3-5 in the last two weeks. They started by being swept by both Atom (#6) and Diamond City (#8), before getting things back on track to sweep FHE (#12) after the All-Star break. That sweep now gives the Rad Sox a 10-game lead in the Railroad League with just 40 to play. The Yao Guai suddenly went in the opposite direction following being featured in our last BNN report, going 2-6 in their last eight. University Point comes in at #3 with a 5-3 run in their last eight. They swept the Yao Guai, won two of three at the Cats, and then lost two of three against a hot Jamaica Plain (#11) team that is now back in the playoff race at just four games back of the #4/#5 wildcard spot. The Red Rockets went 7-1 during that stretch and are 13-4 in the month of July. Nordhagen Beach is now #4 with a 7-1 record in the last two weeks. The Party Boys swept Sunshine Tidings (#18), won two of three at the Assaultrons, breaking their 10-game winning streak in Brotherhood League play, and then got the sweep at The Slog (#23). Fort Hagen rounds out the Top 5 with a 6-2 run in their last eight. The Silver Shroud split at the Witch Hats, swept the Chemists, and then won two of three over Starlight (#14). The Shroud now lead the Institute League by three games over Concord (#7), which also went 6-2 over the last two weeks. NCA 1. County Crossing 2. Fort Hagen 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Concord 5. Current Talent
As an addendum to the article written about the talent in the league, I tried a little analysis of teams ranked by position (July 27). I took their ranks at each position, took an average, and used that as a current talent analysis. Here is a case of what teams, injuries and other issues avoided, should be the last teams standing:
Attached: Analysis: Jamaica Plain is currently the team underperforming the most based on talent rankings, though they have been one of the hotter teams in the CBO. Goodneighbor looks to be the team most playing above their talent. Interestingly, in the Top 12, all 12 teams are .500 or above currently. Roxbury and County Crossing definitely seem to be on a fast track to playing for the Sole Survivor Series in 2303. Now, some further analysis at the 80-game mark - Actual - Team (PAM): NCA 1. County Crossing (1) 2. Fort Hagen (4) 3. Nordhagen Beach (3) 4. Concord (2) 5. Starlight (5) 6t. Abernathy (12) 6t. Easy Town (7) 7. Finch Farm (8) 9. Sunshine Tidings (6) 10. Lexington (9) 11. Salem (11) 12. The Slog (10) SCA 1. Roxbury (2) 2. University Point (3) 3. Atom (5) 4. FHE (7) 5. Goodneighbor (8) 6. Diamond City (4) 7. Vault 81 (6) 8. Jamaica Plain (1) 9. Quincy (10) 10. Oberland (11) 11. Egret (9) 12. So I guess they're not rock bottom, but this whole thing has me thinking about something I think about a lot, but remember back at the start of all this when we thought Starlight was going to be the best team of this Dynasty.

I remember their epic collapse one season. At first, it appeared Oberland and Goodneighbor would be the unbeatable powerhouses, as I recall.

I guess more importantly though the fact that they're doing nothing has sidelined Cait, but I guess we can't have everybody in the spotlight.

I also have been wavering on what to do as my next move. Egret rolled an event but nothing is coming. They are struggling with team chemistry, so I considered a firing or trade but neither seems right since they just changed their top management (and owner) and they are about to be a part of the trade frenzy in just two game days anyway. Any ideas of a good "event" involving the Egret team? I struggled for the better part of two hours exploring everything I can think of. But I am having some creator's block right now.

CBO News
Got It! Used the Fallout story to tell a story
![]() BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 28 July 2303 USS Constitution Embarks on Majestic Refurbishment Journey to Egret Tours Marina as a Showcase Tourist Attraction In an awe-inspiring spectacle, the historic USS Constitution, also known as "Old Ironsides," commenced its remarkable journey today from the top of a skyscraper to Boston Harbor to its new home at Egret Tours Marina. This iconic warship, a symbol of American naval prowess, is set to undergo an extensive refurbishment and transform into a captivating tourist attraction. Crowds gathered along the waterfront, eagerly anticipating the ship's departure. Excitement filled the air as people marveled at the sight of the majestic USS Constitution preparing to embark on its momentous voyage. The vessel, known for its role in the War of 1812, is hailed as the oldest commissioned warship still afloat and the only old warship capable of flight. As the ship glided gracefully down the Charles River, onlookers shared their thoughts on this historic occasion: "I've always been fascinated by the USS Constitution and its rich history," said Meshaq Litterbug, a history enthusiast. "To witness its refurbishment and transformation into a tourist attraction is truly remarkable. It will bring the past alive for visitors from around the world." Long John Roberts, a local resident, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This is a fantastic opportunity for our community. The USS Constitution's move to Egret Tours Marina will undoubtedly boost tourism and showcase our city's rich maritime heritage." Mayor Jayde Pierpoler, who played a pivotal role in coordinating the refurbishment project at Egret Tours Marina, emphasized the significance of this endeavor. "The USS Constitution holds a special place in our hearts as a symbol of American resilience," she said. "Its relocation to Egret Tours Marina will allow us to preserve its legacy and educate future generations about our nation's naval history." The refurbishment of the USS Constitution is a collaborative effort between renowned maritime experts and historical preservation specialists. The ship will undergo meticulous repairs, ensuring its structural integrity, while retaining its authentic charm. The refurbishment process will include a comprehensive cleaning, repairs to the ship's hull and rigging, and restoration of the ship's iconic wooden features. Captain Ironsides, commanding officer of the USS Constitution, shared his excitement about the ship's new chapter. "This is the pride of our navy. The USS Constitution. As her commander, it is my privilege to enforce a certain measure of decorum amongst my crew. Halt! Intruder!" As the USS Constitution settles into its new home at Egret Tours Marina, preparations are underway to create an immersive visitor experience. Interactive exhibits, historical reenactments, and educational programs will be curated to engage visitors of all ages, offering a unique glimpse into the life of a sailor during the ship's active service. Visitors will have opportunities to bunk in the captain's quarters and dine with the robotic crew in the hull. A few lucky young ones may even get to fire off the ship's cannons. The USS Constitution's journey to Egret Tours Marina marks an extraordinary chapter in its history, combining preservation, education, and tourism. With its restoration complete, Old Ironsides is poised to embark on a new adventure, captivating visitors and ensuring that the legacy of this legendary warship endures for centuries to come. According to a digital article in the Boston Public Library, Originally built in 1797, the USS Constitution was once the pinnacle of naval superiority, but with time it eventually became obsolete and was dry-docked at the Boston Navy Yard and turned into its primary tourist attraction. Staffed by robots all programmed with historically accurate personalities of what a crew of the Constitution would be like to emulate its hay day with a charismatic sentry bot, Ironsides, as the captain. Sometime after the Great War, error in the robot's navigation programming made them affix NX-42 rocket engines to the ship [Cited in TV special, "The Life of Nate"] With the ship wired and electronic equipment installed throughout the ship, as well as a radar dish set up on the main deck, Ironsides would launch the ship with their take off landing the USS Constitution on top of the Weatherby Savings & Loan, just north of Boston. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/USS_Constitution

Brownell Don't Fail!
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 29 July 2303 OUT OF SIGHT: Brownell Sends 4 into Orbit It was an historic day at Tarberry Field Forever today, as Dusty Brownell of the Concord Radstags slammed FOUR home runs in a 13-0 Concord win over the The Slog Ghouls. For the game, the Concord first baseman posted these stats: 4 hits in 4 at-bats with 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored. Dusty Brownell hit a three-run home run off Sam Teflon in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Sam Teflon in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Joe Bargas in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Sean Slocum in the 7th and walked in the 9th. Vim! Voyage
Vim! Voyage Visiting Vim! League Vacation Venues by Vikky Vail 3 August 2303 Cranberry Island Venturing to Cranberry Island, one of the Great Cranberry Isles, promises a voyage into the vibrant annals of history. This quaint haven was once occupied by the Gibbons family, whose livelihood revolved around cultivating cranberries. Their veritable venture thrived on the island's bogs, which miraculously endured the cataclysmic upheaval of the Great War. Seeking refuge amidst the turmoil, the family sought solace in an inconspicuous air raid bunker nestled beneath the verdant marsh. Unfortunately, those who sought sanctuary within transformed into vexing feral ghouls, while vital provisions languished in a shed on another corner of the island. An assemblage of Eliza Gibbons' journals and scattered notes serves as a testament to the family's valiant but thwarted effort to relocate the supplies into the bunker. Voyaging southeast from Mount Desert Island, the Great Cranberry Isles unfurl their splendor. Comprising five islands, including Cranberry Island, Huntress Island, Sutton Island, Bear Island, and Baker Island, this archipelago entices visitors with its varied vistas and remarkable views. Cranberry Island, the star of the show, beckons intrepid travelers to unveil its vivid past and the captivating allure it holds today as Mount Desert Island's great tarberry venture. With cranberries no longer in existence, the island validates the need for fruits of the wastelands. Venturing onto Cranberry Island, visitors are greeted by the vestiges of a once-thriving cranberry, now-thriving tarberry farm. The fields, once vacant, whisper stories of verdant vitality that once enveloped this fertile landscape. Vibrant hues of crimson and green, conjuring images of plump berries ripening under the island sun, are now purple and brown. Though the Gibbons family's aspiration was to cultivate and harvest these vibrant fruits, their legacy now lies within the island's chronicles. Veritably, the most intriguing chapter of Cranberry Island's history is unveiled beneath the surface. Deep within the island's bog lies an inconspicuous entrance, a portal into the Gibbons family's struggle for survival. This tiny vault, intended as an impervious sanctuary, became a vessel of monstrous transformation. Venturing into its depths, one can only ponder the vexing fate that befell those who sought refuge within its gloomy chambers. Today, the air raid bunker serves as a haunting reminder of the resilience and vulnerability of the human spirit. Cranberry Island before the Great War Vivacious remnants of the Gibbons family's plight can be found scattered across Cranberry Island. Eliza's journals, once cherished records of hope and resilience, now lie strewn across the land in plaques created by Nate Howard and Small Bertha, their weathered pages serving as fragments of a forgotten past. Visitors who venture through the island's trails and shoreline may chance upon these valuable vestiges, discovering the island's history through the heartfelt words of those who once called it home. Cranberry Island before the Great War Visitors to Cranberry Island embark on a voyage that transcends time, immersing themselves in a vivid tapestry of history. From the once-flourishing cranberry fields to the haunting depths of the bunker, the island's vibrant past unveils itself. As travelers explore the Great Cranberry Isles, they unveil a vibrant world of valor, vulnerability, and the valiant efforts of those who carved their stories into the very fabric of this captivating destination.

You know, I was reflecting on the post-apoc aesthetic of even Maine in the games... and then the real life pics and I'm like "oh it really isn't that big of a change" haha. And I'm trying not to be mean when I say that, honest! It actually looks quite nice and cozy in a way.

Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, NWLB, and APYL Leagues by Evan Guy 6 August 2303 Ghoulrillas Beat Star Force in Nuka Series With a 6-4 win over the Quartz Star Force at Grandchester Mystery Mansion Park today, the Cherry Ghoulrillas wrapped up their 1st title in team history. The Ghoulrillas left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Cherry manager Jimmy Straw. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as Cherry celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order. "I hope they have a big celebration," Quartz manager Nerd Amaya said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it." With the win, the Ghoulrillas now move on to the Season Pass Association Series where they will face the Vim! League's champions, the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers. Cherry also becomes the fifth different team in the five-year history of the NWL to win the championship. Past champions were the Star Force (2299), Quantum Nukalurks (2300), Grape Painted Ghouls (2301), and Victory Cave Crickets (2302). This will also mark the third Season Pass Association Series with the Painted Ghouls defeating the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales 4 games to 3 in 2301 and the Echo Lake Harbormen toppling the Cave Crickets 4 games to 0 in 2302. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail Vim! Series to Fog Crawlers It was all about winning for the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers -- and win they did. There was nothing fancy in how they went about it, players said, they just prepared mentally and physically and then went out and played baseball. "We did the little things right and we did the big things right," said left fielder James Darling, who was named series MVP. "Now we're the league champions." Dalton Farm defeated the Rayburn Point Patcheyes by a score of 2-1 at Blood Tide Stadium to take the series 4-2. "Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you make your own luck," said Dalton Farm manager Paul Manchild. "We got lucky a few times, but mostly we did the right things by being prepared for each game and playing the game the way it's meant to be played." With the Nuka World League playoffs beginning, the Fog Crawlers now await the winner of the first-place Cherry Ghoulrillas or the second-place Quartz Star Force for the right to the Season Pass Association crown of 2303.

Well I will say while most people go to warm places for vacation, Florida, California, the Caribbean, etc, I'm much more of a cold places person. My ideal retirement destinations are Alaska or Minnesota, but Maine is up there too. As a Midwesterner though, there's something about New England that's just "weird" though haha.

August 2303
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 10 August 2303 Feature Story: Major League Streaks We have now hit the 75% mark of the new 120-game schedule with 90 games completed. At this point of the season, teams are making their final moves up and down the standings. With that stated, there are currently four teams with an active streak of nine games or more, with one more team in a seven-game streak. Let's look at those five teams and see what it will mean in the playoff push for August and September. Wins: Atom and Salem These two teams do not seem to be like the other since one team is currently in the thick of the playoff race (Atom), while the other is still five games out (Salem). Still, both currently have a nine-game winning streak heading into an important part of the schedule. The Cats' streak has not allowed them to pass up University Point for the Minutemen League lead, but they have made strides in getting there. Atom has now moved up to #2 in the Power Rankings. Atom is the third-best team in the SCA record-wise but trail the Deathclaws by two games and Roxbury by four. That means that the Cats are in contention for the #1 seed in the playoffs and can be considered to have a decent shot to win it all. With a great offense (2nd in runs scored in the SCA) and a good starting rotation (4th in Starters ERA), led by LF Melon Sanderson (.335/31/79) and SP Scruffy Taguchi (10-3, 2.39 ERA), Atom is in almost every game. Salem's current streak seems to be a combination of getting hot while playing some of the noncompetitors in the NCA playoff race. Still six games under .500, the Witch Hats have disposed of Abernathy, The Slog, Sunshine Tidings, and Easy Town in the last two weeks. Other than the Ghouls, the Hats' streak has also catapulted them above each of those other three teams in the NCA standings. However, Salem is still five games back of the current 5th seed in the playoff race, Starlight. The offense's ability to score has been a mysterious one with the offense ranking in the bottom half of all categories except scoring, where they are 4th. SS Swift Hendrix (.279/11/38) has looked to be their best player overall. Pitching has not been good all season, but SP Aimer Doghair (11-4, 3.34) has been a welcome site. Closer Justin Wilkerson (16 SV, 0.00 ERA) has yet to give up a run he is responsible for in 2023 in 37 appearances. Losses: Abernathy, Quincy, Warwick All three teams on a losing streak, the Adamantium (7 games), the Gunners (12 games!), and the Mirelurks (9 games) can be considered to be out of the playoff race entirely. Abernathy could get back in it, but it seems obvious that they are likely to finish in the bottom half of their division and miss out on the playoffs. Quincy can hope to reload for next season, and Warwick's future is already in doubt with the news that their owner, Roger Warwick, will give up ownership of the team this offseason. Analysis County Crossing remains #1 with the CBO's best record at 64-26. They went 8-2 in the last two weeks, sweeping Fort Hagen (#13), winning one of three at Nordhagen Beach (#11), sweeping the Adamantium (#20), and then sweeping the Party Boys at home. We already mentioned Atom moving to #2 because of their nine-game winning streak. They got there by splitting with FHE (#5), sweeping the struggling Gunners, getting the sweep at Diamond City (#12), and then sweeping Quincy at home. Roxbury is #3 after going 6-4 in their last 10. The Rad Sox were swept at Jamaica Plain (#6), won two of three at Vault 81 (#14), swept Warwick (#24), and then won two of three versus Egret (#21). University Point stands as the #4 team with a 7-3 record the past two weeks. The Claws split at the Swatters, won all three at the Mirelurks' home, swept the Dwellers, and then lost two of three at Goodneighbor (#10). FHE completes the Top 5 with a 7-3 record in their last 10. The Yao Guai split at the Cats, swept the Ninjas in Egret, swept the Red Rockets, and then lost two of three against Vault 81. NCA 1. County Crossing 2. Fort Hagen 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Concord 5. Starlight 6. Lexington 7. Salem 8. Easy Town SCA 1. Roxbury 2. University Point 3. Atom 4. FHE 5. Goodneighbor 6. Diamond City 7.
