Dick Conger - Phillies and Tigers
Just over a month ago someone posted a nice photo of pitcher, Dick Conger from his year with the Pittsburgh Pirates. (see page 1446). Does anyone have good photos to post of him with his other teams (Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers)?
Conger's MLB career went from 1940 and 1943, until he entered military service during World War Two. He was only 22 when he pitched his last game in 1943, but Conger was one of those vets who was never able to resume his MLB career after the war. Fred Bruckbauer 1961
I checked his file - they definitely shot him in the uniform of the only team he actually played for in the majors (the Twins) - but for now anything of one-game not-so-wonder Freddie Bruckbauer in color is worth it.
Bruckbauer, a Minnesota native, got one relief appearance in the Twins' first month of existence (April 25, 1961) and faced four batters. Three hits, a walk, a trip back to the minors, and a career-ending arm injury at age 24. |

Brant Alyea 1965
A Cardinal for only 19 plate appearances in 1972, traded there from Oakland on May 28 - and then returned to the A's on July 23.
