The OL schedule got busier in June and Cary Southpaws continued their dominance. They are doing it with hitting and fielding more now (Joe Morgan looks like a prime MVP candidate with 18 HRs and a .406 OBP). Sonora HS is having a solid season and will try to keep Cary honest (although they will not play each other).
6 OL teams are currently in playoff positions with the Shinbone Stars creeping into a WC position. The Crakes and Mundys are currently in the relegation zone. |

Waffletown picks up a new closer to bolster their already solid bullpen (3rd ranked bullpen ERA). Joining the squad:
Byung-Hyun Kim (2001) Burleigh Grimes will be sent to the reserves to make room. Kim will step into the closer role and Sam McDowell will shift to a middle relief/closer role. |

Gear Terrace (11-6) are being tracked by Paxville (10-5). Although at a safe distance, it might be enough to make them nervous!

My hillbilly is quite proud of his new Craig Kimbrel shirt. It'll be interesting to see how long he keeps it shiny! I'd rather have given him a more vintage model of Boston shirt (to go with the 1950's Berra cap), but I haven't been able to find the 'right' pic.

Annandale still leads the way. Coney Island is the only team mathematically eliminated and the Nowhere Men have completed their OL schedule for the season.
As the calendar is getting ready to turn to the dogs of August Annandale and Nowhere are division leaders while the surging Brooklyn Dynasty (16-7 thus far in July) are one game off the division lead and in the meantime comfortably leading the race for a WC. Silly is also in WC position, but by a game. Then there are the teams from Lemp Ave and Coney Island who seemed destined to return to Gold next week. |

another new face joins the Syrups bullpen:
Francisco Rodriguez (2006) Smoky Joe Wood will head to the reserves to make room. Rodriguez will slide into the closer role and push Kim to a setup/closer role. Management would like to thank Wood for his 17 years of service to the club. In that time, he compiled a record of 187-172, with 2513 strikeouts and a 58.8 career WAR |

So we have a pennant race between Cary Southpaws and Sonora HS Broncs. While there will not be a lot of OL games or head to head matchups, there will be a race. Penguins made it a 3 way race briefly but went 1-6 after All-Star game and are now well back.
Cary, Waffletown (led by a hot Jackie), Shinbone (led by an incredibly hot offence led by Sisler and T. Fernandez), and Seattle are all leading their divisions. Shinbone and Knockemstiff have a very close non-OL pennant race with the loser likely in a WC place. Sonora HS continues in a WC place. Last edited by Quinta; 09-24-2021 at 09:34 AM. |

Computer AL You're Done
Enough is enough, Al. I found myself with a free hour this evening, so I checked in on the Mundys, opened what packs I had and submitted a few collections that completed themselves and decided, given the really lousy job that Computer Al has done, it was time to end the experiment. I was fairly surprised at just how poorly it went. Of course, considering the really strange moves the AI has made when I was pulling the strings, I perhaps should have expected the poor results I got. In any event, I decided to revamp things before the deadline I had set for the end of the experiment. There really is much to say except I won't be doing that again.

Annandale still leads the way. Silly, the only team not eliminated from contention has 3 games remaining, at home vs. Annandale. If the Mad Brewers sweep they win the crown. Annandale has 6 games left that will be in back to back series beginning at 2pm est. The Atom Smashers have 3 at home vs Lemp Ave before playing Silly on the road. Annandale can go 3-3 in their final six with one of the wins coming vs. Silly to clinch the crown.
The only change in the PT standings since yesterday is Silly is rolling posting an 18-7 record in August and instead of clinging to a WC spot by a game now lead their division by 3.5. Annandale and Nowhere still lead their divisions and Brooklyn comfortably holds the top WC spot and are 2 games off the division lead. Coney Island and Lemp Ave have flights booked Sunday night for their returns to gold. |

Paxville (5-3) took a very small chunk out of Gear Terrace's lead (7-5), with Boston and Inland Empire probably a bit too far back to challenge. I say probably, but there are definitely enough games for some fireworks!
Games left: Gear Terrace - 11 Paxville - 15 Boston - 26(!) Inland Empire - 13 Boston and Gear Terrace play each other, Inland Empire and Paxville also play each other. Good luck all! |

Rustlers Take Over Lead in OL B283
Terra Incognita moved in front heading into September, but nearly any team can win given the busy final month schedule. No team is in relegation danger.

Apologies for not getting this out earlier. This update is through August.
Well, we still have a two team OL pennant race. The Cary Southpaws and the Sonora HS Broncs are in a close battle. The Southpaws have 6 games left and the Broncs have 8 games left. Anything can happen. In non-OL news there are still 4 division leaders. The Southpaws, Syrups, Shiners, and Stealheadz all lead their divisions. Sonora HS and Stars are in WC battles. It obviously pays to have a team name with an S. I am not sure if we need any analytics on it but it is clearly a proven effective strategy. |

Waffletown is just thankful they have no OL games remaining. 13-13 against OL competition, 73-36 against the rest of the league. Downside: there's no avoiding OL competition on the road to the WS. |

The Crakes have been getting pounded by OL and have done generally much better in Gold otherwise. I figure that other OL managers just now the Crakes tendencies, pitch selection, and probably our signs by now.

Absolutely. I was curious about the Mundys not doing well this week and they have an amazing roster (and obviously misused). I have no idea why Ice Box Chamberlain was out there.

Atom Smashers, Smashing
Annandale takes the diamond crown. Only one three game series left between Brooklyn and Lemp St. Coney Island is pulling for the Perfectos to take 2 of 3 as that will likely hand the Warriors the wooden spoon, and people say there is nothing to play for in September when you are out of the pennant race.
In PT play not much has changed since this morning Silly has a wide division lead, Annandale is running away with their division. Nowhere has a 2 game lead and Brooklyn is still chasing the team with the best record in the F***king league that got stuck in their division (I figure I'd save Magus the time to post). I will post the finals in the AM. |

I'm going to pre-congratulate the Shiners for their advancement to the LCS, as Waffletown apparently can't win games to save their lives even when playing the bottom feeders down the stretch (10-11 to this point in September).... why do I keep playing this game?
