This is a pretty cool idea, I had downloaded all the maps from Fallout to Fallout NV, as well as, the world map from Game of Thrones to create a baseball universe about one of those .... but then decided to just use the teams I had already created over the years.

But, I'm glad to see someone did actually make a Fallout Baseball Universe.

Spectacle Island Chooses Its Team

The Spectacle Island settlers are excited to announce that the new CBO team taking the place of the former Warwick Mirelurks has been selected. And the name never left the island.

In a three-round vote involving an elimination process per round, the final tally came between two possible team names. In the first round of voting, the Mirelurks and Patriots team names were eliminated with the Reapers winning the round. That means the BMU team to be named will maintain the Warwick Mirelurks name and the South Boston Patriots team will also remain.

In Round 2, both the Diners and Specters teams were eliminated, leaving the final two choices between the Radstorm and the namesake of the BYDL's Spectacle Island Reapers. In the 2nd round, the Radstorm team name won by a slight edge, but did not hit a majority vote, leading to a 3rd round of voting.

In the final round, the Reapers team name won by a 51.7% vote for the chosen name for the CBO.

Mayor Clack the Friendly Ghoul was excited by the choice. "We already have people walking around in Reapers gear, so we know that our settlers are on board. We get to keep the Reapers as a team and then give the boys team another name. The boys seemed excited, too."

The BYDL Spectacle Island team seemed to be the crusaders in helping get the Reapers name selected. They also loved the Specters team name and campaigned that their new name take on that namesake. Commissioner Nate Howard, who was on hand for the vote tallies, agreed that the Specters name fit the BYDL team well.

"I loved all six names," Howard said, "and would have welcomed any team as our Spectacle Island team. We now have the Diners and Radtorm names as new possibilities in the Commonwealth. I'll take that to the CBO office in Diamond City for our next big news."

Howard added that there would be meetings about more new teams as part of the CBO umbrella. He would not elaborate, stating that the teams needed to lead the announcements but invited us at BNN to the ceremonies in Diamond City.

The relocation of the Warwick franchise to Spectacle Island marks the first real relocation of a team. The only other team to change places was the Oberland franchise which played in Graygarden before their local stadium was complete. Other teams changed their names, including the now Easy Town Assaultrons and Roxbury Rad Sox.

Howard also has not elaborated on future relocations or expansion in the CBO but he has said that the CBO office is constantly collecting data on settlements and monitoring where the population trends are rising and falling. Howard cited the stagnation of the Warwick Homestead area as a contributing factor where the Warwick team was being supported financially based on the success of other teams.

Thanks! Other than personal time constraints, I am attempting to expand this universe, too. I have had such a strong emotional connection to the Fallout games over the years that I look forward to taking strolls throughout the post-apocalyptic America. I haven't found the time in the last couple years to play the game much, but I do visit each settlement, homestead, and landmark here.

I had a New Vegas dynasty that I have partially revived to help make connections to this dynasty. There are actually a few stories I need to add to that one soon!

TBH, that thought came more from a place of fearing for your sanity than mine, because the thought went if I was straining as a reader, you must be straining as an organizer.

Reapers are a fine name, I suppose. With the minor teams keeping their name overall it's a good situation.

You getting Starfield? On Monday I'm finally having my new computer arrive, which it was a major goal of mine to finally upgrade before Starfield came out... though the exact prompt in this case was 2 weeks ago I had one of my many hard drives fail so it was time to stop procrastinating. I just dreaded having to actually spend the *time* transferring my files and setting it up, but realized I could take a PTO day to do so because my work is generous.

Sanity has never been my forte! However, I do have a massive Excel file that contains all the past information I remember to record and all future endeavors I have in mind. There is a 2304 storyline that I had planned, so I need to get on that soon. There are some storylines that I abandoned and some more that were early foreshadowing. This dynasty is as deep as I can take it, but probably not as deep as I want before real-time Summer 2025.

I like the Reapers. I was personally rooting for the Specters just because I like the logo and color scheme made from my short-lived fantasy world dynasty. The Diners had to be a low-league team name. It would have fit the storyline but I hated the "look" and would have looked to tweak it or change it after. The Radstorms could have worked and may be in consideration if there are anymore moves or expansion--I really have not decided yet, but that is not even in play until . . . (checks notes) . . . around 2310. Between now and then, there could be further relocation, but there is no definite team that will move just yet. If there is, it would be one of the NCA teams.

I will get Starfield, but probably not until the summer of 2025. I just cannot find the time to jump into a game like that just yet. By 2025, I may be ready to get a souped-up computer, too. I have a gaming laptop, but it is already over three years old. It still runs OOTP, Fallout, and Skyrim all right, though. I got Red Dead Redemption 2 awhile back and may get into that game at some point. I realized it would take too much of my time. I just checked on Steam, and I put 88 minutes into the game on July 25, 2022. Bought it that day, played it that day, never went back but the game seemed really cool.

I want to help them out quite a bit. They definitely need to win a lot more than 29 games in 2304. I would say 41 needs to be the immediate goal, but that team is built like Roxbury was. Nothing at the CBO level but a bunch of potential studs in the minors. The Reapers have the following players rated to be good or great in their potential:

CL Canoe Rowe (2302 undrafted free agent)
C McCoy McIntyre (2303 3rd rd, 49th overall pick)
2B Diamond Ball (2301 1st overall pick)

They may want to trade away some of that talent to see if they can up their pitching staff and outfield.

Ironically RDR2 is something I bought during this sale to tide me over until Starfield releases, and to stress test the new PC as something that was above the old one's capabilities. Ironically my major hurdle is still the fact I live in a rather rural area, so even with a great PC, it takes me a week to download a modern game because of file size, and during that time I might lose interest.

Though back on the topic of Fallout and maps, have you seen any of the "Fallout Cartography" youtube videos? One of the Fallout youtubers is doing some lore analysis from a "geographic perspective" lately and it's pretty insightful, reminds me a lot of the goings on of league organization here, though I must say, I do enjoy your universe of things being friendly and safe. That kind of "cozy catastrophe" as TV tropes puts it is an underrated feeling. It's like the aesthetics of the wasteland but the warm fuzzies of everything being alright.

I have started referring more to the real map of Boston for some of my decision-making lately, including some of the teams added to the BYDL for the 2304 season. In the future, I have considered to reverting back to the real-life names of some places throughout, but that would have to be a next generation sort of change.

Yeah, I think it's a testament to how good your Dynasty is that the lore of it is kinda mentally overwriting some of the base game lore of Fallout 4 for me, like I said, it's just got more of that "cozy charm". In the vein of that second thought, I've also found myself when getting a player in OOTP from MA, comparing them to where they're from in your Dynasty as compare to where they're from IRL (I had a good draftee that generated from Weymouth, which is apparently just past Qunicy).

One thing about OOTP 24, there are actually quite a few changes, but also something I noticed just now in my second season with it, some of the changes didn't kick in until season 2, like they needed an extra season of the save being in place to adjust. That was mostly related to owner goals though so I don't know how that'll matter with your dynasty.

Ha, excellent! When you mentioned expansion awhile back I wondered if eventually we'd even expand to all of MA or even the rest of New England, outside of the game area so to speak, since we're kinda boxed in even with how many teams we have now.

Though truth be told, I'm just kinda sad the Capital Wasteland is overlooked, though of course story wise I don't have any idea how they'd be worked in.

Ha, I don't remember that from 3 years ago, I think I remember the Mechanist thing but probably read it quickly and got it mixed up with the Fallout 4 DLC (since that DLC left a bigger impression on me, it was a good DLC).

BYDL Expands with 12 New Teams as Youth League Enters Fifth Season

Boston Youth Development League (BYDL), the official youth league of the CBO, is gearing up for its fifth season with a major expansion. The league, known for nurturing young baseball talent and promoting sportsmanship, will welcome 12 new teams to its ranks. The expansion aims to provide more opportunities for aspiring players to develop their skills and compete in a structured and supportive environment as well as keeping the talent local to the CBO and the ever-expanding Commonwealth population.

The 12 new teams joining the BYDL for the upcoming season are the Avon Lakers, Braintree Schoolboys, Danvers Perception, Darwin Firesnakes, Marblehead Mess, Needham Radstorm, Saugus Launchers, Stoneham Commandos, Thompson Heights Earthlings, Wellesley Brahmin, Weymouth Locksmiths, and Woburn Diners. These teams will join the existing roster of 24 teams that have been part of the league since its inception.

The BYDL expansion teams will bring fresh energy and talent to the league. Their inclusion underscores the commitment of the CBO to invest in youth development and provide a platform for young athletes to excel in baseball. Each team will have the opportunity to compete against established teams, learn from experienced coaches, and gain valuable experience on the field.
