Help me understand. You have him listed as a 1B and he had a rating at that position, but took it away so the AI would play him in the OF? Seems very odd, but okay. Thanks for the reply and confirming the overall rating of 38 seems to be what was intended.

Yes, exactly. As for the overall rating, it is what it is based on the component ratings, most of which are based on the ZIPS projections.

It shouldn't be a 38 though, it's a 50 or 51 here. I'd guess you probably have scouting turned on, which randomizes the ratings.

Interesting. That definitely seems more accurate and where I thought he should be. The commish did have to mess with a bunch of settings and tried several different options before we got going. I’ll have to ask about that because I thought Dylan Bundy was pretty low at 31 overall, makes me wonder if other players are affected.

I probably would have found it by now if it exists, but is there some place I can get a list of the standard player ratings?

Not really. Just start a new game though and turn off scouting and you'll see them there.

Sorry, one more question. What were Myers’ ratings for 1B? Sounds like even starting a new game won’t bring back that rating.

Just give him 200 experience if you want. The ratings are already there, all he'd need is the experience.

2018 Draft Prospect Darius Hill OF has stats from 2006-2012.

I would never have noticed, but it appears the talent randomizing gods believe this 25th round pick can become a MLB bench player.

FYI I thought Bundy may be similar, but when we created a new game his overall rating matched so guess not. He seems to be one of the few players that does not seem line up with ZiPS. Since we are relatively new (mainly DMB players) it made us curious so he posted here:

The pitcher ratings don't always match up exactly. Not sure quite why. Then sometimes players or pitchers won't match up either because we tweak them a bit to get the lineups, rosters etc. to more closely match what the teams are really using.

So there's a bit of art as well as of science involved.

Not exactly sure off the top of my head what the deal is with Bundy, I can check on him.

EDIT: We're projecting him for a 3.2 WAR and 4.01 FIP, ZIPS has him at 3.1 and 4.05. Seems pretty darn close to me

Some notes on front office personnel: The Nationals Scouting Director has his last name spelled wrong. Should be Longosz not Langosz.

This leads me to a question regarding how Scouting Directors are determined for two teams, the Cubs and Nationals. Matt Dorey is the Cubs S.D. on the MLB quickstart, and in real life has the title of "Director, Amateur Scouting". For the Nationals Longosz' real-life title is "Director, Scouting Operations".

This leaves Jason McLeod and Kris Kline as two Scouting Directors in the available personnel pool. In real life McLeod is the "Senior Vice President, Player Development and Scouting" and Kline is "Asst. GM and Vice President, Scouting Operations". To me these two titles mean they should be the actual S.D.s on the quickstart, since they run the whole department.

Sorry for this minor quip, not a huge issue in the grand scheme. Just think its a bit more accurate reflection of reality.

Luke Farrell and Jen-Ho Tseng both look like they could use a bump up in ratings. If I'm right, I wish I would've posted this before today's patch, but I'm probably the only one who would even care haha
