NLCS Game 1 -- St. Louis 3, Twin Cities 2
St. Louis leads series 1-0.
Rick Scott hit a one-out homer off Eric Watkins in the bottom of the 10th inning to give St. Louis a 2-1 win over Twin Cities in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series at Busch Stadium (1997). The rookie's game-winner came on a 2-1 pitch and traveled 451 feet over the wall in right-center. The Snow Cats had forced extra innings in the top of the ninth when Jeff Friedman cranked his second home run of the game, this one off St. Louis closer Ernesto Barbosa, to tie it at 2-2. Earlier, Friedman had taken River Walkers starter Kaneo Kawamoto deep in the top of the fifth inning to make it 2-1, St. Louis. The Walkers early runs had come from solo homers from Jared Thomas and Jose Segura, both off Twin Cities starting pitcher Keegan Jensen. Kawamoto allowed one run on four hits over the first 6.1 innings. He struck out four and didn't walked a batter. He was followed to the mound by -- Travis Krogman (1.1 IP), Yeison Santos (0.1) and Barbosa (1.0) in the ninth. Barbosa (1-0) came out of it with the win, despite giving up Friedman's second home to tie it. |

NLCS Game 2 -- St. Louis 7, Twin Cities 4, 10 innings
St. Louis leads series 2-0.
Jean Segura hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning off Twin Cities relief pitcher Jose Liranzo to give St. Louis a 7-4 win in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series at Busch Stadium (1997). The victory gave the River Walkers a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. St. Louis entered the bottom of the 10th trialing 3-2. Roc Riggio had led off the top of the Cats' 10th with a single off St. Louis reliever Ron Peterson. He later scored on a Robbie Mackie fly ball hit off David Amador. But in the bottom of the inning, St. Louis would storm back. Jean Carmona drew a lead-off walk from Gathier to open the inning, and pinch-hitter Alek Thomas folllowed with a single. A fly ball from Jose Ramirez put runners at the corners. Pinch-hitter Peter Ahn followed with a single, scoring Carmona to tie it at 3-3. Liranzo came on and allowed a single to Jared Thomas to again load the bases, and bring Segura to the plate. On a 2-2 count, Segura powered the ball 417-feet over the wall in right-center to break it wide open. Down 2-1, the Walkers had tied it on Jean Carmona's solo homer off Brian Hollister in the bottom of the seventh. Walkers starter Izzy San Juan allowed two runs on six hits over six innings. Cory Tiller pitched a scoreless sixth. Peterson, a rookie, worked 2.1 innings allowing one run on one hit. Danny Amador got the final two outs of the top of the 10th, which was enough to earn him the win. |

NLCS Game 3 -- Twin Cities 3, St. Louis 2, 10 innings
NLCS: St. Louis leads 2-1.
See related thread: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=322134 Robbie Mackie hit a one-out homer off St. Louis rookie Ron Peterson with one out in the 10th inning to give Twin Cities a 3-2 win at Metropolitan Stadium (1977). The River Walkers lead the best-of-5 series 2-1. It was Mackie's second homer of the game. His first had provided the game's first run in the bottom of the second inning off St. Louis starter Zack Hunsinger. Five solo home runs accounted for all the scoring. The Walkers tied it on a homer by Jose Ramirez off reliever Noah Cutrona in the sixth inning, and had gone in front when Jared Thomas took Eric Watkins deep in the ninth. Pinch-hitter Eric Estrella evened it at 2-2, with a solo shot off Travis Krogman with one out in the ninth. Mackie untied it with his 389-foot blast in the 10th. Snow Cats starting pitcher Hunter Barco lasted just three batters before exiting the game with two outs in the first with a finger blister. Twin Cities used five relievers. Jim Messina (2.1 IP) started the bullpen parade. He was followed by Jesus Liranzo (2.0), Cutrona (2.0), Watkins (2.0) and Brian Hollister (1.0). The win went to Hollister.
