Ok. We got some wins and on top of that Hal Chase plays like prime Babe Ruth (.471 BABIP tho) and he even hit for the cycle for easy 1000 PP in the last game. So is not that bad of the start for Boulder City Wreckers.
P.S. It was a little funny for me that only two European teams in the league are in the same division - one from Serbia, other from Latvia. Nice. |

Coney Island Breaks on Top in OL R65
The Warriors started strong, so it might be time to go back and re-read Ed's advice columns. With 19 teams, however, we can hope for a spirited race. No relegation standings in rookie.
By the way, anybody know how I can clip the screen in Google sheets in one pass. I use Snip and with so many columns and rows (that's a good thing), the only thing I could figure out was to print the sheet to a pdf and then snip that. Thanks. |

Annandale performed better than expected yesterday. I am not sure what to think, perhaps some of the teams in my entry pool were super loaded or something. At any rate I don’t expect us to continue this good play but I am happy to see where we are right now.
In other news, the Atom Smashers tournament team won a couple of packs yesterday and I received two live diamonds so I’ve got a bit more funds at my disposal. Still not sure what to do with them. Actually, one of them is a OVR 99 Strasburg and I am holding onto him right now because I wonder if he would make it to 100 after the first update. I have no special inside information on this but I figure hey if he makes 100 it’s easy money and if he doesn’t make it I’ll just sell him for whatever next month. |

I have noticed a few of you guys are really good at tournaments. In the spirit of, uh, sharing... I am curious what your teams look like. But I can't find a few of you in my lowly Bronze tournament history. So I wonder if you all would be kind enough to share what level tournaments you are running. If you would please just tell me the level like Bronze/Silver/Gold that's enough info for me. If you want to share your team roster that's cool but not expected..
If you're not in the list it might mean I have found you, not that I do not think you are worthy! Trying to track down tourney levels for jeff1787 - Shinbone Stars Tinkerman - Pawnville Kings IanIachimoe - Paper St. Soap Company Thx guys. |

Season 2022...
Today, being the start of a new season, I've also included my current rosters.
I'm now reaching the point where the majority of players on the teams are now Gold level, and the base-price differences between Gold (1000) and Diamond (4000) will now start reducing the number of roster improvements I can make each week. For the time being, I will play Perfect Draft as much as I can in the hopes that will net me some added PPs - but will have to turn to collections and missions in the near future. I do find it interesting how each of us have different approaches to this game

I am in a very unique position for the first time, in that I have such lousy cards that I haven't even been able to place in any Bronze or Iron tournaments. In the past, alot of guys would keep notes of the good players that the winning teams would use and then would copycat the line-ups. Needless to say, this is a always changing process and if you do come up with a winning way, it will not last too long before everyone is doing it, too! |

I play mostly Iron & Bronze. the roster is still ever-changing as I acquire new cards. a good place to start is letting the AI set the lineups/depth charts & makes changes from there until you find cards you like. I honestly never look at the winning teams of tourneys, takes too much time trying to build my own.

I'm mostly trying to put a dent in the missions while acquiring cards I think will be good in Iron & Bronze tourneys (that aren't way overpriced) first. not sure if that helps.

I started with iron Bo5's to get things rolling, and now I've gone to bronze Bo7's. Basically, I used the 3 day entry league to build and refine an iron tourney team. I can't build a team in a rush, so cobbling one together in a quick tourney is out of the question! By using the players in PT, I got a decent look at who could perform, and it was then easy to import my PT roster into a quick tourney (even though the non DH teams screw with the depth charts and lineups). Last week in Rookie I quickly did a similar thing with a Bronze team, but basically just followed the blueprint for my iron team - with bronze card upgrades. Versatility/fatigue are key imo. 4-3 series will break a lot of teams. Feel free to PM me about anything more specific .

I guess this is why I wait for Saturday morning
At least then I have a nice cup of coffee and birds chirping. Acquired 18 packs so I thought I'd give 'em a rip because Port Ruppert is off to an unexpected good start and I know they'll be falling back soon since I don't want to use special editions this year, at least at this point. I was hoping to pull something to give them a bit of a boost.
I guess Jobu was asleep because I was breaking my usual habit. Included in the 108 cards were one OL silver 72, three live silvers and 104 assorted bronze and below. Ouch. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 04-06-2021 at 04:56 PM. |

Ouch, that is a big blow! Just be glad you buy those packs with your hard earned PP. My pack luck in PT22 is as bad as yours!

It all worked out in the end because it turned out I filled in some cards that got me close to completing a few gold pack collections, so I spent around 1500 PP and got four, which gave me a 95 Home Run Baker, an 80 Jason Schmidt, as well as four live golds to sell, with two of the four packs being double gold (actually one was diamond/gold). So in the end, I shouldn't have been whining, since it turned out well. I also found I had completed the Carl Hubbell special edition. I'll have to make an exception to the no SE for King Carl. Actually, in looking at the rest of the SE's, there might be two or three other old timers, like Campy and Brooks Robinson I might keep as well. |

So am I permitted to change my team's name and logo in mid-stream? I love my Boston Red Sox. I had thought I'd construct an all-Boston squad. But I'm starting to think a fictional name might fit better within the OL universe. What do you guys think?
I ask because an all-Boston theme would make my current squad even worse! I'm really struggling. I'm gradually making my way through the missions for gold packs from 15 team members, and that's netted me some PP and a couple gold starting pitchers. But I've had almost no success in tourneys; and only a little in Perfect Draft. I'm not really seeking specific help here, but I'll certainly accept unsolicited advice.

I'm not sure if this is the kind of unsolicited advice you mean, but how about the Charles River Scholars? I don't quite remember, but I'm pretty sure teams have changed names in the past. As for tourneys, just keep tweaking your team. Maybe concentrate on iron and spam the hell out of it until you build up cards. Then you can build up teams. You could also try cap teams. Like if you have a few solid golds or silvers, get them in a fairly low cap team where you use your few best players, say in gold or silver and then you have to fill out the roster with low rated irons to get under the cap. Ok. My fielding is historically bad, maybe the worst Zone Rating I have ever seen, -16.6, so my ERA with that defense is not that bad.

![]() updated the lat/long on The Spile to match last versions settings (plugged into a google map it will put you between home and first base at Centennial field in Burlington, VT)... using a different 3d model this year (snagged from eriqjaffe's thread in the mods section.... Polar park). |

Thanks for the advice, Stanley Kuppchaser. I actually like that Charles River idea. I'll think on it. As for my team's performance, we've actually had a winning run, so we're feeling a bit better.
