...add to the list Ron Farkas, of whom an image is also desired.

Bklyn Dodgers pitchers.

Can anyone identify the Dodgers pitchers in the attached photograph? I've got Craig and Newcombe (2nd and 3rd) and Bessent (next to last). I'm guessing that this would be Spring Training '56 because Johnny Podres is missing (military service).

Thanks.

Folder MF Images

In Topps Folder MF this week, there were nine players posted in sharp two-in-one layouts without watermarks, then posted individually with watermarks. They are game action, but very sharp to my untrained eye.

417. 426 Barry Bonds
418, 428 Pudge Rodriguez
419, 429 Alex Rodriguez
420, 427 Mike Piazza
421, 432 Ken Griffey, Jr.
422, 431 Juan Gonzalez
423, 430 Frank Thomas
424, 433 Mark McGwire
425, 434 Tony Gwynn

I am wondering about the guy on Bessent's right. Is that Branca?

Cardinals Call-ups

Several newspapers confirm that Ron Farkas and Steve Staniland were called up by the Cardinals on 9/1/1977. An example is the Sayre (PA) Evening Times of 9/2/1977. However, there is conflicting information which casts doubt on whether these two players ever arrived to join St. Louis.

You have now seen Topps Vault images of Farkas in a Cardinals' uniform. But he was a spring roster player with the Cardinals in 1977, 1978, and 1979. So his photo could have been taken at any of those times. The Shreveport Times of 9/3/1977 reported that "Two (Arkansas) Travelers, Ron Farkas and Manny Castillo, are ticketed for post-season delivery to the parent St. Louis Cardinals." I found a couple of subsequent reports of Farkas still playing for Arkansas later in September. Although newspapers.com includes the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, there was no report of his turning up with the Cardinals later that month.

On 11//29/1997, the Rochester (NY) Democrat & Chronicle reported that Steve Staniland had been traded by the Cardinals to the White Sox. The same day, the Palm Beach Post clarified Staniland's status further. The Post said the "White Sox assigned Steve Staniland, pitcher with St. Petersburg of the Florida State League, to their Iowa farm club." So Staniland had not actually gone into the major league post-season on the St. Louis Cardinals' roster.

Request for TV of Oscar Brown

Hey there, what with the pull down of all the past TV folders, I cannot locate these two images of Braves OF - Oscar Brown. (The ones in the black bordered 1971 Topps Template)

The great Bob W has them offered on his site, I'm just looking for the TV images that they came from. Thanks in advance!

Oscar Brown images

They are, in order that you posted them, AZ240, AZ241 and AZ239.

Here is the fourth image of the group, AZ242, with watermark. All of them have been restored to their former glory and were part of the flickr hoard I referred to a few pages back.

Excuse me, Rainmaker, Hobbs and Lumpkin - could you stop filling up this board with long posts and quotations of material that should be handled in direct messages?

I shall while I answer your question of me. Not if it specifically pertains to my original request. As stated - I just need the images - that's all. Seemed like one of the original tenets of this board. Can't locate an image - request it preferably after proper search and diligence was served. Sorry to take of 1/20th of the page as part of my inquiry.

Not sure about Branca, though he did make a brief comeback in '56 with the Dodgers. The first pitcher might be Don Drysdale, during the Spring just before his rookie year. The pitcher on Newk's left might be Chuck Templeton. Could use some confirmation.
