Just to clarify: Though Gedman did miss the last two months of 1987 due to injury, his April absence was not injury related. He was ineligible to sign with the Red Sox until May 1st because he didn't receive any free agent offers from other teams by the January 8th deadline (thus allowing Sheaffer to break camp with the big club). This stupid former rule caught other high-profile players in its grasp (Tim Raines, Ron Guidry, Lance Parrish and Bob Boone, among others) and led to the Players Association anti-collusion suit against MLB.

Dick Simpson 1962

Not often found in color during his brief stint with the Yankees (even capless).

Adding three others always in demand: Tom Silverio (1970) in '72 Angels attire, Paul Siebert (1975) taken shortly after his '77 trade to the Mets, and Costen Shockley (1964) with the '65 Angels.

Thursday/Friday Topps Uploads (KF): 546-547 John Sefcik; 548-549 Al Severinsen; 550-551 Rich Severson; 552-553 Dick Sharon; 554-555 Don Shaw; 556-557 Danny Sheaffer; 558-559 Larry Sheets; 560-561 Steve Shields; 562-563 Ron Swoboda; 564-565 Bart Shirley; 566-567 Joe Simpson; 568-569 Ron Stone; 570-573 Bill Singer; 574-577 Duke Sims; 578-579 Paul Siebert; 580-581 Ruben Sierra; 582-583 Floyd Baker (as Twins coach); 584-585 Jim Siwy; 586-587 Luis Silverio; 588-589 Tom Silverio; 590-591 Don Lee; 592-593 Nelson Simmons; 594-597 Matt Sinatro; 598-601 Tom Shopay; 602-603 Dick Simpson; 604-605 Wayne Simpson; 606-607 Felipe Alou; 608-611 John Sielecki (Giants system, LHP) 612-613 Costen Shockley; 614-615 Doug Sisk; 616-617 Frank Bolling; 618-619 Toby Atwell; 620-621 John Scott; 622-623 Mac Scarce; 624-625 Dick Seminoff (Cleveland system, RHP); 626-627 Fred Lasher; 628-629 Dave LaRoche; 630 Jack Lamabe; 631 Ray Lamb; 632-633 Paul Lindblad; 634 Pete LaCock; 635 Lee Lacy; 636-637 Barry Latman; 638 Lerrin LaGrow; 639 Joe LaHoud; 640-641 Dennis Leonard; 642-643 LeRon Lee; 644-645 John Lowenstein.

624-625 is Rich Seminoff. Pics are from the '72 Indians ST and in looking at the '72 Portland Beavers roster there were only pitcher whose last name starts with "S.": I knew what Rick Sawyer looked like, so it has to be Seminoff.

It is Seminoff - Topps has posted him before - but there are three logical flaws which trip up researchers in all fields, especially photography. 1) The players in this posting do not have last names all beginning with "S;" 2) There are plenty of players in any given major league camp who do not spend the ensuing season at a AAA farm club or even anywhere in the organization or even anywhere in organized baseball; 3) When you say "it has to be" such-and-such after eliminating only one other possibility, you should stop yourself in mid-phrase. If this were 17 possibilities for this image and you eliminated 16 you can usually get away with "it has to be" - but not when there are only two.

Skeptical About Rich Thompson as KF584-585

In comparing photos of major league pitcher Rich Thompson with the Topps Vault photos KF 584 & 585, I don't see a perfect match in their facial characteristics. Furthermore, the Cleveland Indians uniform which the pitcher in KF 585 is wearing (see below) dates from the years 1978-80. In that photo, the "S" as the last letter in "Indians" is very thin and characteristic of those years. Rich Thompson didn't come into the Indians' system until the draft of 1980, which would have been after spring training had ended. In 1980, he only played in 7 games for a Low A farm team of the Indians, an indication that he arrived in the Indians' organization late in the summer.

I haven't been able to figure out who the pitcher in KF 584 and 585 is. I checked all the Indians' spring roster players and non-roster invitees for the 1978-80 period who were career minor leaguers and could not find a match.

On the remote possibility that Rich Thompson could have been wearing an old uniform in 1981 spring training, I checked to see if he was an Indians spring roster player or non-roster invitee that year. Found no evidence that he was. Of course, he did not play any regular season games for the Indians until 1985.

Hello on the 1999 and 2000 Milwaukee Brewers and 2006 Seattle Mariners turn back the clock games of the Seattle Pilots. does anyone know who were on the full 25 man rosters for those games? of who was on the rosters that did not get into those games. Thanks to anyone's response.

A few additional Dexters. A google image search says there are fewer Selma/Mets images than I would have expected.
