Homer "Goose" Curry
"Goose" Curry played in the Negro Leagues from 1928 through 1947 mostly as an outfielder, but he pitched in a few games as well. He played the greatest number of games with the Philadelphia Stars. The team with his second most frequent appearances was the Baltimore Elite Giants. He appears here with the latter team in a photo from Robert Retort's PICTORIAL NEGRO LEAGUE LEGENDS ALBUM.

Bert Wakefield
Seamheads.com indicates that Bert Wakefield's Negro Leagues career was limited to two seasons of playing first base -- 1900 with the Chicago Unions and 1901 with the Chicago Union Giants. However, THE NEGRO LEAGUES BOOK, by Dick Clark and Larry Lester, showed a more expansive career for Wakefield, running from 1895 to 1902, with a 1915 appearance thrown in to boot. Additional teams included the Kansas City Giants, Salina and Emporia (Kansas State League), and Algone (IA) Brownies.
The photo comes from Seamheads.com, and shows Wakefield with the 1908 Kansas City Giants. The larger Kansas City team photo appears in Robert Retort's PICTORIAL NEGRO LEAGUE LEGENDS ALBUM. Retort obtained it from the Hall of Fame Library in Cooperstown. |

Tom Glover
Tom Glover pitched in the Negro Leagues from 1934 through 1945, spending the most time with the Baltimore Elite Giants. I think the symbol on the cap in the photo is a "G" and that the uniform therefore is of the Baltimore Elite Giants. The photo is from Seamheads.com.

Billy Horne
Bill Horne was a second baseman and shortstop in the Negro Leagues from 1938 through 1946, playing mostly for the Cleveland Buckeyes and Chicago American Giants. The word "Giants" may be read in the jerseys behind Horne in the photo, so it is assumed that he is wearing a Chicago American Giants uniform. The photo comes from the Seamheads.com website.
