Went to bed early last night since I had to be up at stupid o’clock to hit the road…. Driving back home from fl (about a 15 hour run)… looks like I missed a wild finish in the Gold tier…. I’ll let Tinkerman have the fun of giving that rundown

Diamond B League
Knockemstiff did indeed tie things up with a 3-1 series win over Seattle.
With the results as they are: KMS beat SEA 10-9 SEA beat SON 4-3 SON beat KMS 4-3 - I figure that this one comes down to OL Run Diff, and Knockemstiff had a positive RD against Seattle and Sonora. The Shiners will also make their debut in the Diamond playoffs (by squeaking in), albeit, probably a 1 and out adventure! Sonora were unlucky to just got sucked into relegation. |

Mundys Sail Through September to Capture OL S297 Crown
Port Ruppert left little doubt, blazing down the stretch at a 13-2 clip to post an almost Secretariat-like margin of victory.

Gold League
Congratulations to Coney Island!
Great late drama in Gold, in a scenario that's more complicated than any potential climax to this year's MLB! With Coney Island wrapping up OL yesterday, like Edster said, it was all about PT in the final month. Well, Waffletown turned it on just at the right time to not only make it a 3-way tie for the division, but also a 4-way tie for the wildcard spots. Phew! First up, Lemp Ave. beat Algoma 6-5, with a late rally by Algoma falling just short of taking the game to extras. Thus eliminating Algoma from the division race. Next up was a pitchers duel between Lemp Ave.'s Satchel Paige and Waffletown's Cy Young, with the latter turning the game over to the bullpen with a 1-0 lead. The Syrups added a couple more insurance runs in the top of the ninth, and closed out 3-0 winners and division champs! At the same time, Algoma's Smoky Joe Wood took a 1-0 lead over Melpomenia into the 7th, but then blew up for 4 runs and it ended 2-7, giving Melpomenia the 1st wildcard. Finally, it was a rematch between the Penguins and Perfectos in the eliminator for the final wilcard spot. In the end, it was another tough loss for Satchel Paige, with Lemp Ave.'s Adam Wainwright and co. shutting Algoma down 1-0. A Pujols RBI double in the 4th being the winning run. And so, Lemp Ave. join Waffletown and Coney Island in the playoffs. Good luck guys, and commiserations to Algoma! |

Looking on Go at the airport. Seems we had a play in for the wild card in Bronze as well. Not as crazy as the one we saw in gold. Sugar Hill laid an egg losing both by a combined score of 18-2. Hudson didn’t make it out of the first inning in game one and Irv Young walked 8 in 4.1 in the second. Guess the pitching doesn’t matter much if you don’t score. If we played better inOL we may not have had to fo through it.
I am two players short to complete the next and last version of the Gang. If we don’t make the playoffs next week the change will happen next Sunday. If we do this gold group will be around two more weeks as I travel again mid morning next Sunday. The theme is set. Players who played in the 70’s (the card doesn’t have to be 70’s) or someone who played for any of the New York teams. I need one more pitcher and a CF. I am deciding on Jimmy Wynn or Paul Blair. Wynn can play all three OF positions but Blair hits lefties well and the starting CF is the lefty hitting Fred Lynn. I prefer Blair but I may not be able to ignore Wynn’s flexibility. Either way I am going to saving to hopefully add the Say Hey Kid when he finally drops. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I thought there might be another diamond crown, but I guess not. Will check back in later this evening.

OL Results in D358 (Diamond One)
So here are the final OL results for D358:
Nowhere Men: 8-5 Annandale Atom Smashers: 9-8 Cary Southpaws: 6-8 Silly Mad: 1-3 (DNQ) None of the OL teams made the playoffs, but Cary feels robbed: With one game left to go in the season, Cary had a one game lead over Tacoma and Scranton for the division crown. Since Cary was playing a team in with a .364 winning pct. in Cary, we felt confident that we would be in the playoffs (and the oddsmakers had us at 100% chance). Unfortunately, Cary lost and the other two teams won, setting up a three way tie (90-72) for both the division lead AND the second wild card. This set up a three team "playoff" where two of the teams would go to the playoffs and the other team would sit it out --- and, unfortunately, Cary drew the short straw. Silly Mad will be relegated, the other OL teams will be in diamond again next season. Hopefully, all the diamond teams will be in the same league next year. I did see that only one of the diamond teams that were in the "other" diamond league was on my friends' list. I rectified it by making sure all gold and diamond OL teams are on there.

Just checked the Gold playoffs. Only Coney Island made it to the SLS, before losing 4-0 to the Pujols, so they'll be the only team ascending to Diamond. |

Mundys Post Comeback Win in PT Series
After falling behind, three games to none, Port Ruppert pulled out game four in 10 innings, 2-1. That sparked a further three game win streak for an improbable PT series win. They were the only OL team to win post season honors in PT play. That finishes off 2047. Make sure to check your list, etc.

2048 tier placement:
missed Lumberton Rockets at Iron; Iron Maiden Wasted Years at Bronze and Sunday Drivers at Gold (how the heck is that possible? They were in Gold last season and I have them friended; so unless something happened with the friend's list settings on that side.... )... also, looks like Burnside Bums have been renamed and removed from OL (our lone perpetual Rookie tier team)Iron= 3 teams (2 in one league, 1 in another) Bronze= 9 teams (8 in one league; 1 in another) Silver= 15 teams Gold= 9 teams (8 in one league; 1 in another) Diamond= 7 teams |

Diamond League
Given that I'm feeling salty about just about everything today, it's very welcome that Diamond is in full working order!
It will be my pleasure to cover it (although I'm sure it will be a tough week for my two).
