Vicente Romo pic-#'s KA167-170
This is probably a stupid question but I searched the site just a few minutes ago for the answer and I couldn't find one. I looked on Baseball Reference dot com on his record both majors and minors but I didn't find anytime that Vicente Romo was with the Angels. Could somebody give me some insite on this one? I renamed them from the numbers to the corresponding names from the Vault ID site.
Thanks, BRobby05 |

Photo ID assistance
In perusing the depths of the internet, this old photo popped up which claimed to be the 1884 Saginaw Greys. It was pointed out that the player on the bottom row far right is John Clarkson. If this is the 1884 squad, there are some possible facepack upgrades to be had provided IDs can be obtained.

The Last of
The late adds to MJ I've surrounded but not captured:
756-757 Bob Randall; 758-759 Pedro Ramos; 760-761 Domingo Ramos; 762-763 Bobby Ramos; 764-767 Rafael Ramirez; 768-771 Orlando Ramirez; 722-773 Milt Ramirez; 774-775 Mario Ramirez. Today added MJ 776 to 835! Make that 855! Topps is turning them out! Last edited by Rainmaker; 05-31-2017 at 07:37 PM. |

MJ 774-775 is Mario Ramirez, who also played for the Mets.

Thar she blows! Two white whales surface!
In Wednesday's massive release, back to back, are two images that have been highly sought.
Folder MJ 789 portrays Dick Radatz with the Cubs -- a team he spent the second part of 1967 with. There's been a Brace, but no Vault! Followed immediately by 790-791 are Johnny Rabb with the Atlanta Braves -- a team for whom he played only three games for in 1985. Shot in the spring, there have been minor league shots aplenty, but no shots in an Atlanta uni until now. IDs are ongoing. After weeks of what Merkle termed was cleaning off the desk, they apparently have reached into new corners of the Vault. As a result, many first-time Vault people are appearing, some much more obscure than others. |

Seems that Dodger KH 89-90 is Bruce Raible, Dodgers third round draft pick in 1970. Here he is in a Connie Mack League national champions team photo. The eyebrows have it? Last edited by Rainmaker; 05-31-2017 at 07:38 PM. |

John Rabb Braves 1985
John Rabb was yet another obscure Braves catcher of the 1980s, but a little more noteworthy than guys like Mizerock, Owen, and Sinatro and probably a better player too if he had been given the chance. Rabb was stuck in three bad organizations, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Seattle, which didn't help his cause any. He could play OF and 1B but was not much of a catcher, his throwing being particularly poor. After only Steve Sax he was the era's most famous victim of Steve Sax disease; at one point during the 1983 season he had terribly difficulty just getting the ball back to the pitcher. He told the press "I feel as if my arm's possessed." Rabb was best with the bat, not the glove; in that respect he was like a precursor of Francisco Cabrera or a lower case Earl Williams. Rabb consistently slugged over .400 in the minors, but he got only 200 or so ABs in the majors and for a slugger like him that just wasn't enough to ever get his bat into the groove. He might have had a good career if he'd been a DH in the AL or if he'd found an NL manager who was just willing to stick him at 1B and show some patience, but that did not happen. He got only a couple of games with Atlanta in '85 while the team was collapsing and a couple more later with the '88 Mariners while they were collapsing. Here he finally is as a Brave, so maybe someday we will see him as a Marginal too.

I'm thinking it may be Bruce Olsen, a former Yankee farmhand. He pitched from 1968-1971 but he may have been a non-roster/minor-league invitee to Spring Training 1972. I'm going to guess that if it is Bruce Olsen, he'd gotten released by the Yankees and then signed by the Indians, did not make the cut and the Indians then released him, ending his career.

As If There Weren't Enough Images To See ...
Once upon a time there was a giant called Steve's Baseball Card Pages. Sharing first-rate photography, there were dozens of pages to go through with obscure guys right alonside Hall of Faers.
While Steve DeWing, who posted those pages, hints that he might bring them back on-line one day, there now is only one that can be linked at present. But it's a doozy. Paste the url below. Enjoy: http://archive.is/aZexC |

KH88 is not Bruce Olson
The Bruce Olson photo on the right comes from the Pomona (CA) Progress Bulletin of July 31, 1969, where it reports his doing very well for Kinston, NC, in the Yankees' system. The photo on the left is KH88. Obviously, the two photos don't match.
