Right now, the KG file isn't even accessible through current eBay auctions, so it isn't you.

If I had to guess, I'd say Topps is probably sick and tired of people grabbing and using their images for all manner of things (there are multiple custom card makers selling their wares on eBay now--using Topps Vault images and Topps designs). So I'd guess they are trying to figure out a way to still provide images on their sale listings without leaving them open to discovery and preview by tenacious computer geeks. But that's just a guess on my part because its probably what I would do under similar circumstances. You might have to get used to just getting the images as they're posted to eBay (until they figure out a way to lock you out of those, too...which is certainly doable). Think of it like Jack and the Beanstalk. Maybe the giant wouldn't have minded if Jack took one golden egg and went on his way. But Jack got greedy.

Or maybe they just ran out of cloud space and are removing all the older files.

I tend to be a pessimist, but who knows.

If you are looking for or needing a KG image, we'll pass it along.

Mike O'Berry Red Sox 1979

Here after much delay, as per an earlier request, is catcher Mike O'Berry as a rookie with the 1979 Red Sox. The shot is from the 2nd edition of the 1979 yearbook.

This Vault Thing Is Getting Tricky

Apparently Topps has shut another door to the Vault, as 41 images were posted Friday and Saturday that we have not otherwise seen. But a closer look reveals they are an extension of the MK Folder, but can only be pulled off the eBay Vault page.
We have their corresponding Vault numbers, but cannot access them through the index. Trust me; these are the right numbers, but I'll only share how I know in a PM.
Notable: Highly sought (among my known contacts) Don Castle, Rangers short-timer.

These new images are all currently on eBay:
FOLDER MK
571 Dick Pole; 572 Biff Pocoroba; 573-574 Juan Pizarro; 575 Horacio Pina; 576 Ron Piche; 577 Rob Picciolo; 578 Tom Phoebus; 579 Vince Phillips (NYY minors.); 580-581 Tony Phillips; 582 Mike Phillips; 583 Dick Phillips; 584 Adolfo Phillips; 585 Ken Phelps; 586-87 Gary Pettis; 588 Dan Petry; 589 Fritz Peterson; 590 Cap Peterson; 591-592 Bill Caudill; 593-594 Bill Castro; 595-596 Don Castle; 597-598 Tony Castillo; 599-600 Bobby Castillo; 601-602 Marty Castillo; 603-604 Manny Castillo; 605-606 Juan Castillo; 607-608 Ron Cash; 609-610 George Case.

Charlie Knepper 1899

As the # 2 starter for the horrible 1899 Cleveland Spiders, Knepper won 4 games which tied him for the team lead. He was apparently invited to Spring Training for the 1900 season in St. Louis, but did not make the roster. The Facepack is a woodcut, and though this is not a great picture, it at least shows him in a major league uniform.

Now that Topps has blocked access to the Vault images, I can't help but wonder if we should stop posting about ways around it. Having the Vault for all these years has been fantastic but I would hate to lose any chance at the images in the auctions. They could easily make them small thumbnails and block us from everything unless we buy it.

You are correct, FatJack.

Topps deliberately shut the door on image access through AuctionHelper. Continued attempts to open that door will not result in greater access, rather quite the opposite.

I originally allowed TV posts on the forum as a way to showcase the incredible breadth of the Vault--a celebration, as it were. Unfortunately it has gone too far. From an OOTP perspective, consider the Vault closed. It's time to start playing by the rules. Attempts to circumvent the block and invitations to PM for workaround instructions will not be allowed.

Going forward, Topps Vault posts will only be allowed for those items that have come up for auction. Pre-auction posts will be removed. Posts related to circumventing AuctionHelper blocks or in any other way accessing TV images by other-than-public means will be removed and the user cautioned or, for repeat offenders, banned.

If anyone has specific questions, please PM me. I'll post follow-ups as necessary.

It's really sad that our great privilege all these years has been lost due to behaviors on this thread. Since we know Topps Vault reads these messages and always has, I would like to thank them for allowing us to peruse their images and apologize for what we did with that privilege.

Not impossible, but still tough...

On a lighter note, Kyles Sportscards' eBay store recently listed these hard-to-find fellows: Garry Hancock, 1978 Sox; Steve Hargan, 1977 Jays (haven't seen color before), and circa 1978 Dodgers Gerry Hannahs.

Hargan

Actually, the "official" Jays' color Hargan shot turned up a couple of years back. Color is a little off but the image is stronger:

Thanks Jack!

I have found the same yearbook thing. Your photo is the only one that I have located.
There has to be another, and will let you know when/if I come across one.

For the record, the Mets do two sets of studio shots each year for MLB and other media outlets (not including sets done by media outlet sets, themselves, on Photo Day)--one of the major league players and invitees in the major league camp and one of their prospects not in the major league camp. The major leaguers are photographed in home uniforms. The prospects are always photographed in these shiny blue unis, as Mike Glavine is here. That cap is genuine, not photoshopped. I believe that particular iteration of the minor league portrait came from the old Baseball-Birthdays stream (not the flickr stream--John had a stream of birthday montages for a while). But you rarely see those minor league prospect shots with the Mets cap except when MLB has MiLB news about them. I have seen a major league shot of Mike Glavine in the team's (then) home whites with the black cap. The one I saw was too small to be of use to anyone, but it does exist...out there somewhere. I thought, perhaps, the 2003 yearbook, since I don't have one of those, but who knows. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Don Bosch 1966

So, where were we before I got a little distracted trying to calm down people at Topps (with some success, I think)? Everything has settled there, they thought locking the barn door would get the message across, got a little honked when it didn't, are now looking at some other sites with folks who really weren't satisfied with a golden goose. Bottom line, we're good.

Still have a number of these beautiful Dexters to post. Here is Don Bosch, one of the most overrated prospects of the 1960's, for whom the Mets traded the only starting pitcher in their history to that point to ever compile a winning record. He started 16 of their first 24 games in center in 1967; he would hit .164 lifetime with a .443 OPS.

Bernard (Bernie) Williams 1970

The "other" one, who didn't do much (.192) for the Giants and Padres, 1970-74. This is from that collection of 1969 Spring Training shots, many of which wound up on the Dell Stamps of 1971 and other venues.

Not an impossible photograph but off topic, one of the rarest autographs of the '70s.

Dexter Press Cleveland Indians Request

Merkle, glad to see more of your amazing Dexter photos! If you end up finding any Indians photos lying around, I'd sure appreciate them...especially Sonny Siebert, Roy Foster, or Leon Wagner.
