CAMERON MITCHELL
As many of you know, actor Cameron Mitchell had an extraordinarily disastrous one game minor league career. Finally found a picture of him in a baseball uniform, that of the 1947 semi-pro Culver City-Palms Merchants for whom he pitched on weekends. |

Henry Mitchell
In filling out the roster of my 1966 Baseball Mogul Diamond expansion team the Denver Mammoths I came across the 9 yr minor league career of Panamanian outfielder Henry Mitchell. He had some power and some fine AAA seasons but never a day in the majors. He started out in the Yankees chain and then was with the early 60's Pirates organization. He certainly could have seen some time with the '62 Mets . Here is a nice photo I presume from spring training with the Pirates.

Duncan Desmond Campbell
Here is another Pirate farmhand. Versatile Nicaraguan Duncan Campbell who spent 11 seasons in the Pirates system yet tasted AAA ball for only 56 games. Campbell spent as much time at thirdbase as he did in the outfield and caught 90 games. He was also 1-0 in 17 relief appearances. My kind of utility man. Hit for power and showed some speed in his youth. Campbell had a very fine professional career despite never advancing to the big club. Here is a photo from Nicaragua's Salon de la Fama.

Lee Robinson
Lee Edward Robinson was a Sharman Society guy who was up with the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 1974 season. The photos below are from the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune newspapers of July 6 and July 12, 1967. They show him in the uniform of the Wisconsin Rapids Twins.

Thank you Cusick. Its great to finally see this ballplayer. Lee Robinson certainly deserved more of a major league opportunity.

Final Word on Duncan Campbell
I had just about posted this when my internet crashed as I hit the submit button ... On the Salon de la Fama site (Nicaragua's sports hall of fame) it has an article claiming Campbell to be Costa Rican and that he was in fact 3 years older than documented on Baseball Reference. If this is true he didn't playing pro ball until he was 25. The epilogue for Duncan Campbell Utility man with a Catcher's mitt is a sad one. After his playing career ended the Pirates made him a minor league coach. Campbell died in a car accident in Nicaragua in 1969 at age 35.

Charion Isenia
Not clear to me, Lumpkin, if your Dominican Summer League players request means that the players have to be in the uniform of the Devil Rays team in that league. If so, good luck. If not so constrained, Charion Isenia is on a Princeton Devil Rays baseball card shown at:

Ron Cox
Here is a Mizzou player of the late 60's who signed with the Cardinals in '62. Played third and first and the outfield corners for ten minor league seasons. This must be a spring training photo but I'm not sure what year. In addition to the Cardinals , Cox played for the Senators organization, Pirates, Tigers, and Reds before finishing up with the Reading Phillies in 1970. He was an average AAA player. In the Missouri University Hall of Fame. Played some basketball there too for coach Wilbur Stalcup.

Ron Cox
Ron Cox was on the St. Louis Cardinals' spring roster in 1963 and 1964, so the photo posted above by PinsonHOF was probably from one of those two years. Two color photos of Cox in a Cardinals' uni were posted in November, 2014, on ebay/thetoppsvault.
