2304 CBO Playoffs
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 October 2304 CBO Association Finals Preview NCA Finals - #3 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (81-39) vs #1 County Crossing Bloodbugs (86-34) Season Series County Crossing 6, Nordhagen Beach 6 June 24-26 @NB: NB 6-2, NB 3-1, NB 4-0 July 15-17 @CC: CC 5-1, CC 4-1, CC 8-2 Sept 9-11 @CC: NB 6-3, CC 6-2, NB 4-2 Sept 16-18 @NB: NB 6-2, CC 7-4, CC 6-4 Analysis When County Crossing and Nordhagen Beach meet in the North Charles Association Finals, it will mark just the second time these two Brotherhood League rivals have met in the playoffs. That first time came in 2301 when the #1 seed Party Boys swept the #3 Bloodbugs in the NCA Finals on their way to their first CBO crown. This season the roles are reversed with the Bugs the top seed and the Boys the third. The roles have reversed in seeding, but there are plenty of questions if the results will. Whatever the results are, these two teams are closer in talent than they were in 2301. Let's break it down. We already have published top stats and performers from each team, so let's use the opportunity to dive into individual matchups and where teams may find advantages. In all 12 regular season matchups, the losing team scored a maximum of four runs, indicating that the starting pitcher most on will have the advantage. The Bloodbugs slightly outscored Nordhagen Beach, 46-43, during their matchups. That tells us only one thing: there is no room for error in this series. So, looking at units, what do we have? Offense: CC Pitching: NB Defense: NB Position vs Position C: NB - Mike Swift (5) vs Darth Horse (12) 1B: CC - Zeldolph Violet (3) vs Dustin Mart (18) 2B: NB - Jumper Hayes (3) vs Newscap Woldorf (9) 3B: CC - Taygun Topaloglu (2) vs Burtie Cuttooth (11) SS: CC - Cy Thompson (3) vs Pointie Shroud (15) LF: NB - Michael Fogcrawler (2) vs Kurt Kilgore (3) CF: NB - Maxx Murtagh (3) vs Long Hall (9) RF: CC - Babs Rooth (1) vs Jonathan Angelou (3) County Crossing's position players are all in the Top 10 in the CBO at their respective positions. That gives the Bloodbugs huge advantages at the 1B and SS positions. The one position group where the Party Boys have a slight advantage is in the outfield where all three outfielders are in the Top 3 at their position, though the Bugs have the top outfielder in RF Babs Rooth. SP1: NB - Beachboy Nut (3) vs Whip Lashley (4) SP2: NB - Ugio Church vs Gavin Everitts SP3: NB - Tommy Beach vs Urm Rehfeldt RP1: NB - Handsome Frank (6) vs Drama Miller (8) RP2: NB - Lawdog Whipple vs Terrence Artman CL: CC - Jesse Bibeault (6) vs David "AntAgonist" Kidd (22) Other than the closer position, the Party Boys have the advantage at every aspect of one vs one pitching matchups. There is no question that games where the Nordhagen Beach starter is on gives them the edge to win. The question will come on the offensive side when both pitchers are on whether the Boys' bats can give their pitcher enough support to take the game late. Prediction County Crossing looks as though it has gotten over the hump toward BL dominance, meaning that they should be the favorites to win this series. However, the Party Boys are in their 8th-straight party, and they are used to series like this. We'll take Nordhagen Beach to edge out the Bloodbugs in a close, thrilling series. NB 4, CC 3 SCA Finals - #2 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (80-40) vs #1 Roxbury Rad Sox (91-29) Season Series Jamaica Plain 7, Roxbury 1 April 19-20 @Rox: JP 1-0, JP 3-1 April 24-25 @JP: Rox 5-3, JP 5-1 July 12-13 @Rox: JP 2-0, JP 7-1 July 26-27 @JP: JP 4-3, JP 4-1 Analysis Like the County Crossing and Nordhagen Beach matchup, the South Charles Association Finals will feature teams meeting for only the second time in the playoffs. Roxbury and Jamaica Plain first met two seasons ago with the #2 Red Rockets edging the #3 Rad Sox, three games to two, in the SCA Semifinals. When the teams meet as the top two seeds in the SCA playoffs, one thing that immediately stands out is that the season series was unbalanced with the Rockets dominating the Sox, seven games to one. Those seven losses made up a quarter of Roxbury's losses all season! So why is that the case? Let's look at the matchups. Offense: Rox Pitching: Rox Defense: Rox Position vs Position C: Rox - Biddy Swenson (6) vs Ayag Mour (8) 1B: Rox - Duncan MacCready (14) vs Carney Cornseed (15) 2B: Rox - Chris Connexx (4) vs Bubb Islander (8) 3B: Rox - Donn Mattingley (3) vs Notorious Fugate (8) SS: Rox - Purple Gupta (2) vs Aaron Erickson (10) LF: Rox - Young Goodman (1) vs Damani Beebe (5) CF: JP - Hid Matsumoto (8) vs Edward Cox (16) RF: Rox - Deerlord Fugivmee (10) vs Bulleye Shooterson (11) Roxbury appears to have a huge advantage offensively over the Red Rockets with a position advantage at every position but center field. However, the offense that is much better scored only 12 runs in eight games on the season, showing that the Jamaica Plain pitching has found something this season to slow down the Rad Sox. SP1: Rox - Nuke Laloosh (1) vs Digger Vadim (2) SP2: Rox - Eugene Gym vs Chris Teddybear SP3: JP - Chris Deathclaw vs College Luckyman RP1: JP - T-Bone Heagy (3) vs John Irwin (12) RP2: JP - Ryan Mills vs Justin Hale CL: Rox - Andy Helium (1) vs Doug Dee El (3) While the Rad Sox seem to have the overall advantage in pitching, this position group is much closer than it appears. In the season series, the Rockets outscored Roxbury 29-12. While 29 runs in eight games (3.63 runs per game) is not a lot, the Red Rockets won the pitching duels all season. Prediction The difference in the regular season series was a statistical anomaly. Roxbury is too powerful in a seven-game series to get blown away, at least we think. We are expecting the season series to get closer to even at the end of this one and the Rad Sox to continue on in their pursuit of back-to-back Sole Survivor Series victories. Roxbury 4, Jamaica Plain 1

2304 CBO Playoffs
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 10 October 2304 NCA Final: #3 Nordhagen Beach vs #1 County Crossing Game 1 - Nordhagen Beach 0 at County Crossing 5 Association Championship Game 1 Victory for Lashley and County Crossing Whip Lashley and the County Crossing Bloodbugs opened the Association Championship in brilliant fashion today, shutting out the visiting Nordhagen Beach Party Boys at Beantown Brewery Stadium 5-0 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Lashley, the Bloodbugs left-hander, threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. Lashley threw 98 pitches over 7.1 innings, while allowing no runs. "Teams don't get here by being incompetent, so I really wasn't expecting this," Lashley said. "I just kept throwing and they kept missing." All five runs came in the bottom of the 3rd inning. With Beachboy Nut on the mound, Darth Horse led off with a single. After a fielder's choice at second, Ajani Peacock tripled to score Lashley from first for the 1-0 lead. Kurt Kilgore then doubled in Peacock, followed by an RBI single by Babs Rooth. A Cy Thompson single put runners at first and third with one out and a 3-0 lead. Taygun Topaloglu then singled in Rooth. With two outs, Long Hall singled in Thompson for the 5-0 lead. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Beantown Brewery Stadium in County Crossing. Game 2 - Nordhagen Beach 1 at County Crossing 5 County Crossing Tops Nordhagen Beach Again, 5-1 The County Crossing Bloodbugs got a strong performance from pitcher Gavin Eviritts, who stymied the visiting Nordhagen Beach Party Boys en route to a win, 5-1, in Game 2 of the Association Championship today. The Party Boys could never get a bead on the right-handed Eviritts, who threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The Bloodbugs now hold a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. In his 93-pitch effort, Eviritts allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 7.2 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 4. "We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," County Crossing manager Crow Guai told reporters. Nordhagen Beach has yet to knock in a run in the series. Their sole run in the game scored via an Eviritts wild pitch to score Pointie Shroud. The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 4th , 2304 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Winthrop. Game 3 - County Crossing 1 at Nordhagen Beach 13 Mart, Party Boys Wallop Bloodbugs in Game 3 of ACS The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading County Crossing Bloodbugs, winning 13-1 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium today. Party Boys first baseman Dustin Mart slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The win cuts the deficit facing the Party Boys to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Association Championship. In the bottom of the first, Mart had one of his most important at-bats: a grand slam home run off Urm Rehfeldt that staked the Party Boys to a 4-0 lead. "It feels good to get this one," Mart told BNN. The Party Boys' Maxx Murtagh also had a big game, going 3 for 4 with a homer, three runs scored, and four RBI. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Winthrop. Game 4 - County Crossing 8 at Nordhagen Beach 2 Almost There: County Crossing On Cusp of ACS Triumph After 8-2 Win The County Crossing Bloodbugs moved to within one game of the Sole Survivor Series today, downing the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys on the road at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium by a score of 8-2. Bloodbugs left-hander Whip Lashley had a strong outing. He threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Bloodbugs a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Association Championship. The Party Boys had few good swings against Lashley, the left-hander, who threw 115 pitches over 9 innings. He allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits. Lashley called the win "a team effort." Taygun Topaloglu led the offensive effort, going 3 for 5 with two doubles, two runs, and three RBI. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Winthrop. Game 5 - County Crossing 8 at Nordhagen Beach 1 Bloodbugs Win Association Championship The County Crossing Bloodbugs bandwagon is filling up fast, as the team has moved one step closer to winning a Sole Survivor Series championship. County Crossing downed the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys 8-1 tonight at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium, to take the Association Championship 4-1. Gavin Eviritts had his second-straight dominant game in the series, allowing one earned run on two hits with a walk and five strikeouts in 8.0 innings. "It seems much more real now and we're really starting to realize we've got a great shot at this thing," said Babs Rooth, who was named series MVP. "When we play our best we're as good as anybody in the Commonwealth Baseball Organization." For the series, Rooth had 10 hits for .476, with a .522 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 7 RBI and scored 4 runs. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI in Game 5. The County Crossing Bloodbugs don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Roxbury Rad Sox - Jamaica Plain Red Rockets series. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship finishes. SCA Final: #2 Jamaica Plain vs #1 Roxbury Game 1 - Jamaica Plain 0 at Roxbury 5 Association Championship Game 1 Victory for Laloosh and Roxbury Nuke Laloosh and the Roxbury Rad Sox opened the Association Championship in brilliant fashion today, shutting out the visiting Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury 5-0 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Laloosh, the Rad Sox right-hander, threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Laloosh allowed no runs on 4 hits over 7 innings for the Rad Sox. He walked 0 and struck out 7. "You can never predict what'll happen," Laloosh said. "That's why you play the game." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury. Game 2 - Jamaica Plain 3 at Roxbury 1 Jamaica Plain Win to Pull Even With Roxbury The Jamaica Plain Red Rockets topped the Roxbury Rad Sox by the score of 3-1 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Association Championship today. The largest share of the credit belongs to Jamaica Plain starter Chris Deathclaw, who threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball in the win. The Red Rockets had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Jamaica Plain, with no one out. Roxbury, with the bases empty, was mounting a threat. Duncan MacCready dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 fastball, he grounded out. The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, October 5th , 2304 at Red Rockets Stadium in Jamaica Plain. Game 3 - Roxbury 0 at Jamaica Plain 9 Mour, Red Rockets Wallop Rad Sox in Game 3 of ACS When the games really matter, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets put on their best show, beating the Roxbury Rad Sox by a final score of 9-0 today. Ayag Mour went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Jamaica Plain now leads Roxbury 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair. Bubb Islander, who finished 5th in the SCA in hits with 161 in 2298, came through for Jamaica Plain with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. The second baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 4 runs batted in. "I thought we played a nice game," Mour told the Jamaica Plain Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Red Rockets Stadium in Jamaica Plain. Game 4 - Roxbury 3 at Jamaica Plain 2 Rad Sox Clip Red Rockets 3-2 in ACS Contest The Roxbury Rad Sox defeated the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, 3-2 in Game 4 of the Association Championship today. Making an impact was third baseman Donn Mattingley, who went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win moves Roxbury into a 2-2 tie with Jamaica Plain in the series. In the top of the third, with the game still scoreless, Mattingley hit a 2-run single to put his team in the lead. Mattingley attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Red Rockets Stadium in Jamaica Plain. Game 5 - Roxbury 0 at Jamaica Plain 5 Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Red Rockets, 5-0 In a pivotal Game 5, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets were hoping for a big game from starter Chris Deathclaw. They got one. The right-hander shut out the Roxbury Rad Sox, proving to be the difference-maker as he led his club to a 5-0 victory. The Red Rockets took the 5-0 win over the Roxbury Rad Sox to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series. Deathclaw gave Jamaica Plain a solid start. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 8 innings. "It's always fun to see the other guys getting frustrated, but the series isn't over and we've got to make sure to keep them on their heels," Jamaica Plain manager Mark Sellsword said. Game 6 is scheduled for Sunday at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury. Game 6 - Jamaica Plain 1 at Roxbury 10 LF Goodman Lights Up Red Rockets for 5 RBIs as Rad Sox Tie ACS The Roxbury Rad Sox and the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets will take the Association Championship to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Rad Sox beat the Red Rockets 10-1 at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Roxbury left fielder Young Goodman was 3 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He drove in 5 runs. The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fifth when Goodman, who finished 5th in the SCA in batting average with .334 in 2304, hit a 2-run triple. It propelled the Rad Sox into the lead, 3-1. "I felt we were ready to go," said Roxbury manager Coffee Kupp. "Our pregame was pretty good." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury. Game 7 - Jamaica Plain 1 at Roxbury 4 Walkoff Blast Sends Sox to Series When the entire season comes down to one game, Dustin Shotgun said you find out what a team is really about. As it turns out, the Roxbury Rad Sox are made of fight and tenacity, as the team got by the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets 4-1 tonight at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in order to win the Association Championship and book a place in the next round. The 9th inning saw all runs scored in the game. Jamaica Plain took the 1-0 lead in the top of the inning when Bulleye Shooterson hit a solo home run off Whokill Poole. In the bottom of the 9th, the Rad Sox made their mark. With Doug Dee El on the mound and two outs, Purple Gupta walked and advanced to second on a Dustin Shotgun single. Biddy Swenson then tied the game at 1 apiece on an RBI single. Edward Cox, who hit .299 on the season with 8 home runs and 20 RBI, then sent Roxbury to the Sole Survivor Series with a three-run blast. "It wasn't hard to get excited for this game," said Shotgun, whose strong offensive output earned him MVP honors. "Our guys answered the call and proved a lot about what our team is all about." Shotgun hit .500 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Roxbury Rad Sox will play against the County Crossing Bloodbugs in the next round. County Crossing won their series against the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys 4 games to 1. The Sole Survivor Series schedule will be announced after the Association Championship finishes.

The Red Rockets really put up a fight! Can't believe they were just a win away until the offense got cold. Series should be fun -- we get the top two teams squaring off

The two series were the exact opposite of what Nat Wright-Kawolski predicted! I thought the Red Rockets were going to take the series when they went up 3-2. They just ran up against a really good team, but did give them everything they had. Great series to observe!

2304 Sole Survivor Series
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 11 October 2304 CBO Sole Survivor Series Preview #1 County Crossing Bloodbugs (86-34) vs #1 Roxbury Rad Sox (91-29) Season Series Roxbury 1, County Crossing 0 April 14 @CC: Rox 5-1 Analysis The matchup of defending champions Roxbury and North Charles Association champions, the County Crossing Bloodbugs, marks a CBO first: the first time the top two seeds have faced off in the Sole Survivor Series. The closest chance before was in 2301 when the #1 seed Nordhagen Beach party Boys advanced to the SSS but the South Charles Association's University Point Deathclaws fell 4-3 to third-seed Atom. Another interesting tidbit about this 2304 Sole Survivor Series is that the two teams represented began as two of the worst franchises in the CBO before developing incoming talent rapidly and becoming the best in their associations. The Rad Sox were nowhere near the playoffs in the first six seasons of the CBO, finishing 6th, 3rd, 6th, 6th, 6th, and 6th. In 2302, they finally found their footing, making their first playoff appearance. Last season, they won it all. County Crossing completed its first five seasons in 6th, 6th, 6th, 6th, and 5th in the Institute League before finally jumping to second place in the 2301 season to make their first of what is now four-straight playoff appearances and their first Sole Survivor Series appearance. Offense: CC Pitching: Rox Defense: Rox Position vs Position C: Rox - Biddy Swenson (6) vs Darth Horse (12) 1B: CC - Zeldolph Violet (3) vs Duncan MacCready (14) 2B: Rox - Chris Connexx (4) vs Newscap Woldorf (9) 3B: CC - Taygun Topaloglu (2) vs Donn Mattingley (3) SS: Rox - Purple Gupta (2) vs Cy Thompson (3) LF: Rox - Young Goodman (1) vs Kurt Kilgore (3) CF: CC - Long Hall (9) vs Edward Cox (16) RF: CC - Babs Rooth (1) vs Deerlord Fugivmee (10) County Crossing has been an amazing offensive juggernaut this season. While Roxbury's offense is a good one, it is nowhere near the Bloodbugs in offensive production. Overall, the Bugs outscored the Sox 715-635. In the top player (RF Rooth, CC) versus top player (LF Goodman, Rox) comparison, County Crossing also has the advantage. Rooth hit .344/.434/.739, leading the CBO in runs (122), home runs (48), SLG, OPS (1.173), WAR (8.7), TB (346), extra-base hits (88), and ISO (.395). Goodman (.334/33/90) was good, but nowhere near the Babs. SP1: Rox - Nuke Laloosh (1) vs Whip Lashley (4) SP2: Rox - Eugene Gym vs Gavin Everitts SP3: Rox - College Luckyman vs Terrence Artman RP1: CC - Drama Miller (8) vs John Irwin (11) RP2: CC - Urm Rehfeldt vs Justin Hale CL: Rox - Andy Helium (1) vs Jesse Bibeault (6) Where the Bugs lead in offense, Roxbury dominates on the mound. Nordhagen Beach had a better pitching staff than County Crossing, but the Party Boys are not the Sox. Roxbury allowed a CBO-low 353 runs and had a team ERA of 2.81. Laloosh (14-5, 2.49) missed time or he may have been a 20-game winner. Gym (16-6, 2.74) and Luckyman (15-6, 2.70) also regularly shut down opposing teams, like they did to County Crossing in their sole matchup on the season. Prediction Roxbury is defending its championship from a season ago. They have their toughest opponent of the season, but the Rad Sox look to have it all in looking to win two straight titles. We'll take the Sox in six, 4 games to 2.

2304 Sole Survivor Series
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 18 October 2304 Sole Survivor Series - County Crossing Bloodbugs vs Roxbury Rad Sox Game 1: County Crossing 2 at Roxbury 6 Goodman, Rad Sox Wallop Bloodbugs in Game 1 of SSS The Roxbury Rad Sox started the Sole Survivor Series in style today, downing the visiting County Crossing Bloodbugs at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury by a score of 6-2 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Rad Sox left fielder Young Goodman was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fifth when Goodman, who finished 5th in the SCA in on-base percentage with .430 in 2302, hit a 3-run home run. It propelled the Rad Sox into the lead, 5-2. "We'll take some time to unwind," said Goodman, "and then get after it again." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury in Roxbury. Game 2: County Crossing 6 at Roxbury 4 Hall Blasts Rad Sox, Bloodbugs Take Game 2, 6-4 County Crossing center fielder Long Hall was the difference-maker for the Bloodbugs in what turned into a shootout with the Roxbury Rad Sox. Hall earned accolades after going 2-for-4 in the 6-4 Bloodbugs win. With the victory, the Bloodbugs moved into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series. The Bloodbugs took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Facing Roxbury hurler College Luckyman with one out, Hall hit a grand slam home run. "Ah, the sweet taste of victory," Hall crowed after the game. The next game is set to be played for Saturday, October 15th , 2304 at Beantown Brewery Stadium in County Crossing. Game 3: Roxbury 5 at County Crossing 2 Road Win Lifts Roxbury to 2-1 Lead in SSS Starter Nuke Laloosh was sensational for the Roxbury Rad Sox in his team's 5-2 triumph over the County Crossing Bloodbugs in Game 3 of the Sole Survivor Series today. Laloosh pitched well, but Roxbury picked up the win to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Biddy Swenson, the three-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Swenson contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Roxbury up, 2-0. "I believe in our guys," said Roxbury skipper Coffee Kupp. "I like the energy they're playing with." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Beantown Brewery Stadium in County Crossing. Game 4: Roxbury 6 at County Crossing 1 Almost There: Roxbury On Cusp of Sole Survivor Series Triumph After 6-1 Win With starter Eugene Gym leading the charge, the Roxbury Rad Sox defeated the County Crossing Bloodbugs, 6-1, in Game 4 of the Sole Survivor Series today. The right-hander threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 runs at Beantown Brewery Stadium to help Roxbury take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series. Gym had a critical at-bat in the top of the seventh for Roxbury, coming through with a 2-run single to put Roxbury in front, 3-1. "I felt we were ready to go," said Roxbury manager Coffee Kupp. "Our pregame was pretty good." The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Beantown Brewery Stadium in County Crossing. Game 5: Roxbury 5 at County Crossing 3, 11 inn. Rad Sox Top Bloodbugs in Sole Survivor Series Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better. It was the latter case in 2304, as the Roxbury Rad Sox topped the County Crossing Bloodbugs 5-3 tonight at Beantown Brewery Stadium to win the Sole Survivor Series. It was the 2nd title in franchise history. "When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Roxbury left fielder Young Goodman, who was named series MVP. It is his second straight MVP award in the Sole Survivor Series. The Rad Sox took the series 4-1. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the South Charles Association Railroad League and a 91-29 record. Roxbury manager Coffee Kupp grinned and nodded when asked to comment on Goodman's words. "Young said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said. Hometown officials announced they were already planning a "grand celebration" for the winners in the days to come. Playoff Images

I guess the pre-series write up was accurate, though 11 innings in the last game, there was a fight even if it didn't go the distance. Think the bugs had a bit of stage fright.

Since one was the Series MVP and the other hit .174, perhaps that made all the difference.

Staffers congratulated the 58-year-old baseball guru as he approached the podium. "This city has allowed me to craft a winning ball club," said Guai. "When you take on a new job, there's always some adjustment period, but everyone here has been cooperative. From the bat boys on up. Here's to many more successful seasons for the County Crossing Bloodbugs!" Guai led County Crossing to a 86-34 record this year and a first place finish in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League. Coffee Kupp stepped before the microphone today and accepted his South Charles Association Manager of the Year award, thanking the whole Roxbury Rad Sox organization for making the 2304 season such a success. Kupp struggled to find the right words. "My father was a drill instructor in the military. He taught me that you have to work hard, set goals and accept responsibility for your actions. That's what the entire Roxbury organization did this year. My dedicated owner, coaching staff, hard-working and talented players and loyal front office all made this award possible. I thank them for it." And what a year it was. Kupp sparked the Rad Sox to a 91-29 record and a first in the South Charles Association Railroad League standings. It was a good season for The Slog's Sylvester Scalone, capped off today by the announcement that he has been named the North Charles Association Red Rocket Rookie Award winner. The talented left fielder hit .299 in 120 games this season, racking up 140 hits, 9 home runs, 46 RBIs and 77 runs scored. He received 21 first place votes out of a possible 24. Considered a can't-miss prospect who could make his CBO debut as early as 2306. Able to put the bat on the ball consistently and good at squaring it up and knocking it out of the park. Got consistently better in each year in the BYDL. Round 1, Pick 2 - Quincy Gunners: SP Lyle Pine, age 18 Outlook: A bit of a surprise since there were several other pitchers who graded higher. Quincy was attracted to his shut up and pitch mentality. Has two amazing pitches in his slider and fastball. Good movement on pitches makes them hard to square up. Ceiling may be at best around 3rd pitcher in a rotation. Round 1, Pick 3 - Egret Ninjas: CF/SP Admiral Kelm, age 18 Outlook: Two-way player who may one day give Easy Town's Lannie Tykeson a run for his caps. Everyday outfielder who may work his way into a starting pitching rotation, depending how Egret wants to develop him. His bat will be adequate and he will do best at the top of a lineup where his speed will lead to lots of steals and runs. Has a 4-pitch repertoire with his best pitch being his elusive splitter. Has potential to be an ace but not likely. Round 1, Pick 4 - The Slog Ghouls: 1B Kilometers Davis, age 16 Outlook: Played only one year of organized ball but showed a lot of potential after signing with Avon of the BYDL. Shows a lot of power potential which could make him one of the top home run hitters in the league. Needs to work a lot in the minors on recognizing pitches and avoiding whiffs on offspeed pitches. May take longer to be CBO ready than the other top picks. Round 1, Pick 5 - Spectacle Island Reapers: 2B Blaine Bishop, age 17 Outlook: May be a steal as the 5th pick. Many scouts had him as the 2nd overall player in the draft after Squire. Good gap hitter who can move well on the bases to potentially be a top triples hitter in the CBO. has the physical build to add more power to his game, too. May not be the best defensive option, which could have hurt his chance, but a move from SS to 2B will probably benefit him overall. Best Value By Round 1st - 20th - V81 - SP Flirt Perez Outlook: Some had him as the best pitcher in the draft but was taken as the 6th pitcher. The lefty has two outstanding pitches in his curve and changeup. May be a WHIP champ in the CBO and grades out as a potential ace in a lineup. 2nd - 21st - JP - 1B Petie Pete Outlook: This is a potentials player that OSA scouts love. Played baseball for the first time with Stoneham of the BYDL. Will be a slow path to the CBO but scouts like his approach in workouts and can see him potentially being a high walks, high homers player similar to University Point's Barker Cocoa. 3rd - 17th - FtH - C Dewey Largo Outlook: Fort Hagen loved his love for everything baseball and that he is a workout warrior. That could lead to Largo being a premier power-hitting catcher at his ceiling. Has true power that allows him to hit the ball out of the park to either field. May hit a few out of the park, too. Needs to work on defense, which is his weak area. 4th - 18th - DC - RF Weldon Steak Outlook: Strange drop for him since OSA scouts projected him to be 1st-2nd round quality. Projected as the 25th overall pick but went 90th instead. Projected to be a .300, 20 HR hitter in the CBO, which could mean being among the better players in the league if he develops. Maybe could have used another year or two in the BYDL but was eligible with Wellesley's status as a new BYDL team. 5th - 17th - FtH - LF Foo Fieterz Outlook: Another inexperienced player that OSA scouts loved but CBO teams passed over. Played only one year of organized ball before declaring for the CBO draft. Scouts see him as a player who will but up decent average but kill it at slugging. His defense is not great so teams will have to hide him in left field or convert him to 1B. Worst Value By Round 1st - 22nd - NB - SP Riff Tamson Outlook: Some did not project him to be drafted at all. Consistently gave up a run every two innings with Boston Harbor of the BYDL. Has four pitches but only his fastball and changeup are anywhere near where they need to be in the CBO. Ceiling seems to be as a 4th pitcher but more than likely at best a reliever in the CBO. 2nd - 9th - Obe - RP Pink Floyd Outlook: Struggled a bit in 2304 with Darwin after coming in from independent travel ball. Oberland saw something few scouts saw because he was projected as either a 5th round pick or undrafted free agent. Good fastball and a developing curveball but nothing more than a reliever for a team who could have used other positions for future development. 3rd - 3rd - Egr - RP Ray Orphan Outlook: Struggled as a starter with the State House Orphans. Egret hopes to convert him to a reliever where they hope he can get returns on short work. Never successful at getting through opposing lineups a third time, which would mean that is his best bet to make it to the CBO. However, OSA scouts had him going undrafted. 4th - 12th - Lex - SP James Komor Outlook: Was not projected to be drafted. Improved in his final year with Beantown but was not a good pitcher at all his junior year when he had a 9.61 ERA. Has five pitches but inaccurate with all five, leading to way too many high counts and walks. Gives up too many long balls when he does find the strikezone. Not expected to sniff a CBO roster. 5th - 3rd - Egr - RP Dime Chambers Outlook: Several pitchers with better potential were taken immediately after Chambers, thus his name on this list. Not expected to be drafted. Not great with Stoneham in his one year in the BYDL. Not expected to be a starter despite having three pitches. Not expected to make it much further than the GBRL.

Not sure how I missed the finals, but not surprised the Rad Sox came out on top. As long as they're competitive next year, I think it's fair to call them a dynasty

They seem built to be in the mix for years to come. Assuming their young pitchers do not have huge ratings drops, become injury-prone, or fall victim to the wastelands, they should be in every game. I expect them to be regulars in the Sole Survivor Series for the next few years.

The CBO team that will be near the Glowing Sea after the Glowing Sea Dome is completed could be in constant peril!

CBO News
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 19 November 2304 Vault 81 Launches Synth Sympathy Center in Covenant Alongside GBRL Affiliate Relocation The Vault 81 Dwellers have announced the relocation of their rookie league affiliate, the Lexington PF Refractors, to Covenant for the upcoming 2305 season. This strategic shift, however, is not just about baseball; it's a stand against synth discrimination, something that has been an issue in their new home. Dr. Jacob Forsythe, the owner of the Vault 81 franchise, expressed his commitment to this cause. "Relocating to Covenant is more than a logistical decision; it's a moral stance. We're aware of Covenant's history with synths, and we believe it's time for change. That's why we're establishing the Synth Sympathy Center of Covenant. Our goal is to foster understanding and acceptance in a community that has been less than welcoming to synths." The decision has garnered support from various employees of the franchise, notably from General Manager Y4-25 Godlike, a synth who has been at the forefront of advocating for synth rights. "As a synth, I understand the fear and prejudice we face daily. Covenant has a chance to rewrite its story, to show that change is possible. The Synth Sympathy Center is not just a symbol; it's a step towards tangible change. We hope it will be a beacon of hope and understanding," stated Y4-25 Godlike. The Synth Sympathy Center aims to educate the public about synths, dispel myths, and promote dialogue between humans and synths. It's a bold initiative, one that resonates with the CBO's purpose. Commissioner Nate Howard often advocates that the CBO is not just about the sport but also making a difference in the Commonwealth. In other news, the GBRL team located in Spectacle Island will also relocate, in this case to The Castle, where they will join the BYDL's Castle Freedom at the Minutemen's main fort in the Commonwealth.

CBO News
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 25 November 2304 Abernathy to Abernathy: Adamantium Franchise Ownership Changes Hands The Abernathy Adamantium are under new management. Instead of being sold to another owner, Blake Abernathy instead transferred ownership to his daughter, Lucy Abernathy. The team has reported new losses, which has made continuation impossible. Citing the need to relocate to a population center, Lucy Abernathy has been in talks with Mayor Kessler of Bunker Hill about expanding the capacity of Shamrock Taphouse Stadium of the Square. The Bunker Hill Gun Fu of the BMU are the affiliate of the Adamantium, so the relocation would be relatively uneventful with the expectation that the teams would just switch spots in the CBO and BMU leagues. Final approvals and decisions are expected to be made during the CBO's winter meetings with all announcements coming at the start of 2305. As it stands, the Adamantium looks to be the second original franchise in two years to relocate due to population concerns on the farms of the Commonwealth. That could lead to some of the other lower populated teams to reconsider their location should crowd sizes leading to deficits as the population starts to flow more into the Boston proper area.

CBO News
BNN Weekly Report
This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 31 December 2304 CBO News, Notes, and Transactions Abernathy to Bunker Hill Lucy Abernathy, who took command of the Abernathy Adamantium franchise, has made final decisions on the future of the franchise after a net loss in the 2304 season. The Adamantium and its affiliate Bunker Hill of the BMU will switch leagues with the Adamantium remaining in Abernathy but playing in the BMU, while the Bunker Hill team will become the CBO team. Additionally, Lucy Abernathy has decided to change the Bunker Hill team name from the Gun Fu to a name that captures the history of Bunker Hill. She has decided to retain the Gun Fu name for future usage, either for the 2306 season when the CBO will expand for a third minor league or for sale to another franchise. The Bunker Hill team name will be changed to honor the American Revolution where a major battle took place at the Battle of Bunker Hill on 17 June 1775. Therefore, the Bunker Hill team will be known as the 75ers in honor of that great battle. Their logo will feature a Vault Boy clad in an American outfit with a color scheme of red, white, and blue. Minor League News In addition to the change with Adamantium joining the CBO, there is also some movement in the divisional arrangements of the BMU. The Graygarden Action Boys, the BMU affiliate of the University Point Deathclaws, will move to the Massachusetts Association's Downtown Boston League since they have easier access via railroad to travel in the league. Abernathy will take the place of Graygarden in the Commonwealth Association's Cambridge League. In the GBRL, the Lexington PF Retractors will play in Covenant, where they will also be known as the Refractors. Also, the Spectacle Island Strength will relocate to the Castle, where they will be known as the Castle Strength. You know, this is kind of ironic, as I was just thinking about what "##ers" sort of name would work for Baseball. It's like we're on the same wavelength haha. From an OOC perspective, all of these are very exciting changes! Most "off field action" we've had in awhile I'd say. IC, well, I'll hold judgement for now. I'm not necessarily opposed in character to any specific changes made, and even think they are all beneficial for the league, but when it comes to sports I have a bit of natural conservativeness, or maybe cynicism. I think because everything here is mostly above board it won't take much for me to get used to the realignments, even if they are pretty unorthodox. Indeed, swapping Abernathy and Bunker Hill is so unorthodox I'm mostly intrigued than anything, haha. Also, I must say, I really dig the new logo.

For my universe here, I have definitely sketched out population centers. That's why you will see a few teams moving out of the farms and into the places in the Commonwealth where there are lots of buildings, all either repaired or being repaired. Also, and this is not a spoiier since I have released several news stories related to it, there will be a 4-team expansion in 2310. I have had a bit of a trigger finger to do it earlier, but my timeline states that the Glowing Sea Dome, the CBO's first domed stadium, is set to be completed in late 2309. Goodneighbor's stadium is also set to be ready for 2309, so the abandoned stadium in South Boston will be available. Cambridge's stadium will be available before 2310, and I also plan to have Nahant as the fourth team. That also means I need to decide on 12 new locations for minor league teams. I'll have to look at my Fallout 4 map, or consider expanding beyond the map to a few more real towns outside of Boston.
