I want to thank Merkle for all his help along with the many photos that he's posted.

Of course it's his personal decision of what he wants to do, but it kinda reminds me of businesses who don't take personal checks from any customer because of ONE stupid idiot who bounced a check. I never thought it was fair to the majority who did obey the rules and did it right. It's not fair to the majority to pay for someone's lack of respect and disregard of the rules set for EVERYBODY!!! Where I worked at a transit authority in Pennsylvania in the finance department, those who gave bad checks in purchasing bus tickets were put on a list and ONLY THOSE had to pay cash and anyone else who gave good checks could continue to do so. Now THAT'S fair!!!

Just my 2 cents!!!

BRobby05

PS: Could someone tell me when this "Danny Salazar" played?

Doug Nelson, Pirates

Thanks for the help with Lazar, here's another one. Is he the minor league pitcher Doug Nelson for the 1974 Pirates? Usually pictures weren't taken of a pitcher hitting.

Thanks,

Thanks,

The photo was identified as Doug Nelson in May, 2016, when it was posted. Nelson was on the Pirates' spring roster in 1976. He was a non-roster invitee with the Pirates in 1974.

Another Topps Vault photo posed him in a fielding position, which also is fairly unusual for a pitcher.

If you're skeptical that there was a misidentification, I don't think so. Look at Doug Nelson's Shreveport Captains baseball card (attached) and you'll see that both the facial and hair features match up quite well.

Ron Cook Astros?

Anyone have a color image of lefty pitcher Ron Cook in an Astros uniform?
1970-1971, was with the team in '69 in ST I believe. There's a B&W online from an auction, and beloved Bob made a few customs of him, but alas photobucket has eaten those. I know there's one at Baseball Birthdays too.

Ron was announced for alumni weekend at Minute Maid next week, and I was hoping to whip up a custom for him.

Thanks in advance!

There have been quite a few contributors of great photos over the years but for me, the one who provided the best images not found elsewhere has been you, Merk. It's not only your images that will be missed, but maybe even more so will be your insight into various images or players or the inside information you shared about your visits to the Topps Vault. It's a shame that someone who was barred at least twice not only caused us to lose the privilege of perusing the Topps Vault folders, but also the pleasure of everything you brought to this community. If you'd like to do an imitation of Brett Favre and leave and come back multiple times, I hope you will. Thanks again for all you have graciously shared.

Tom Heintzelman - 1978

The last color image I needed to fill out my 1978 Giants roster, Tom Heintzelman. There's a couple B&W out there, but I never saw him in color before...currently listed for sale by TV on e-Bay.

Stalking the wild Sheridan

Earlier in the thread, in response to a request, I posted an image (and my alteration thereof) of Neill Sheridan. The image came from a licensed set of San Francisco Seals cards done in an old timey style. The guy responsible for that set (Carl Aldana) released a new set of Seals just a couple of months ago...this one in the style of Mother's Cookies. I swear I'm not his publicist; I just really dig the cards and wish I could afford them (they aren't prohibitively expensive; I'm just flat broke). Fortunately, the eBay seller offers them as sets and as individual cards (the latter of which means good sized scans).

So it's still Seals and I've no doubt its colorized (and, sure, the screen is not as fine as you'd like). But I still think--all factors considered, it's probably the best Sheridan I've seen.

Howard Wakefield 1905

Wakefield is pictured with Cleveland in 1908, though he didn't make the roster out of spring training.

Luis Quintana-Mystery Man

Hey,

Does anybody have a vault pic of Luis Quintana from 1974? He was KH ninety-something. I usually got these but I can't find mine. I was going through my 1974 Angels in my MVP Baseball 2005 1974 season and I had to remove Bill Singer and Dave Sells because they weren't on the roster at the end of the season so I replaced them with Chuck Dobson (starting rotation) and Luis Quintana (bullpen) and I thought for sure that I had Quintana's pic but I can't find it.

Thanks,

PS: If it's against the rules to put that one on, I'll just use a logo or something.

Looks like Quintana was ID'd in the KG folder by Hobbs...also, an image of Quintana was posted here by caribeno in 2011 - http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...postcount=9622

I'm sorry about that. Would you happen to have that one?

Here is mystery guy # 1, who I thought may be Glenn Liebhardt but am not really sure.

I think Mystery Guy #1 may be William Hinchman:
