Thanks for the pics.

I remember my Uncle Dale Waggoner and my cousins took my Dad & I down to Memorial Stadium in Baltimore on July 20th for a doubleheader with the Angels. BTW, Quintana was on the roster that day but not Dobson. Anyhow, in the 1st game, Nolan Ryan beat Wayne Garland and the O's 2-0 on 5 hits and 8 strikeouts, and then Mike Cuellar took on Ed Figueroa in the nightcap. It was tied at 1 into the top of the 9th and in the Angels' turn, Frank Robinson the DH hit a solo shot to make it 2-1. The bottom of the 9th fell apart for Figueroa, and then with 1 out, Bumbry pinchrunning for Brooks at 3rd and Hendricks the catcher on 1st, Dick Williams came in and took out Figueroa for Dave Sells their closer. With Belanger (the Blade) coming up with 1 out, after a pitch or 2, he hits one over the leftfield fence near the foul pole for a 3-run dinger to win the game for Cuellar 5-2. Maybe it's best for the sake of the 1974 MVP season that I do take Sells out for Quintana...LOL!

Thanks again!

Doug Smith 1912

A couple of weeks ago I posted a poor quality photo of the mural in Millers Falls, Massachusetts, depicting multi-racial pitcher Doug Smith. An improved photo of the mural has emerged, and is attached.

You're welcome; I enjoy trying to name the players from that era. I wish I could definitively identify those other Cleveland players.

Help With Search Functionality

I am new here and tried to follow these instructions:

There is a menu option, on the second red bar at the top of this page, white letters, reading "Search This Thread." You put in "Kekich Mariners" and you'd find where the image came from, and re-post the link.

I did not get the results expected. I am trying to find out whether the site has images of Stu Pederson in a Dodgers Uniform, Mike Glavine in a Mets uniform (I did see this was on page 1561 just because I went back manually and got that far back), and Kevin Rhomberg in an Indians uniform. There are a couple of Rhomberg photos out there from the Indians yearbook but I don't really like them.

Any help in navigating the forum would be appreciated.

After some consideration, I think this may be pitcher Walter Clarkson. Here are a few other photos of him for comparison.

Search Facility Utilisation

I would offer the following advice in respect of utilising the search facility which is a wonderful tool that is seriously underutilised by most recent posters.

To use this facility however it is essential that when users make a post that they identify the image by the users family name and commonly accepted first name. I can think of one frequent contributor who in respect of the player you exemplify would post him as either Stu or Pederson which means of course that if you entered Stu Pederson you would most likely find him missing from your results. Of late this site has introduced many petty rules that go against the original philosophy of this thread which is to encourage participators to have fun and to share images with all others. However, one essential standard that has not been enforced is to use a naming convention to ensure the search facility works to its optimum.

I would advise you follow the following procedure.

1. Select the advanced search option.

2. In the keywords enter Stu Pederson if you enter it in quotes "Stu Pederson" the search will look for that exact combination.

3. In the bottom half of the search page select from the list of forums the ootp mods - Rosters, Photos and Quick Starts forum

4. Select search now.

If you do this you should see a number of entries for Stu Pederson including a nice Pederson image posted by Krantzbucks.

First, I would add that you should also check "posts" (rather than the default "threads") on the right-hand side.

That said, I have to be honest. I always use the "search" function before posting and it is simply a fact that it does not work as well as it once did. For whatever reason. I'll just leave it at that.
