You have to change a file in the logo_teams folder of your most recent save. For example, in my case, I navigate to:

Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 8\saved_games\My NHL - 124.lg\graphics\logo_teams

Once in that folder, paste the new logo you want to use and name it exactly the same as the one you're replacing. (You may want to rename the original first just so you can restore it in the future).

The beauty of this is all future saves automatically copy the new logo, so it's one and done.

Just simmed my first game and the post game screen listed a couple players as not playing their role. Problem is it's not the role I assigned to them (I checked after the game to confirm). Am I missing something or is this a bug?

You'll get a popup screen with the option if you start in control of the Kraken (if you want to play as someone else after drafting their team, you can quit after the expansion draft and take them over in commissioner mode.)

In 2D mode, there's a chance that, if a role isn't the player's optimal role, they may decide to play one that's closer to their natural style.

I believe the listed role is what they ended up playing instead. Hasn't been confirmed though.

That's what I thought, but when I do that the game starts right in preseason (Sept. 17). Should I not choose "play as existing GM?" I like that the devs have a manual I just wish it was more detailed, as I can't find "expansion draft" in it.

EDIT: Yes using a custom GM is what did it. Doesn't really make sense to me though.

It's a known issue that's on the list, but I think you're only the 2nd person to have had that happen to them.

How is the host of the Memorial Cup determined? I actually don't know how that process works in real life, or the game.

It rotates between the three leagues, who choose from amongst themselves; generally, it goes to a city that has a decent-size arena and the ability to host a fairly large media presence (basically, the Prince Alberts and Val d'Ors won't be getting one anytime soon.) The game tries to approximate that. There's also an expectation that the host, since they get a free pass into the tournament, will do whatever's necessary to field a competitive team in that season, even if it means sacrificing their future.

Things are a bit screwed-up in the moment IRL because of the Cup being cancelled the last two years, though; Kelowna lost the 2020 tournament and it was never decided which Ontario team would host in 2021 before that was cancelled (it was going to be either Oshawa or Sault Ste. Marie.) So we're going to have the Q hosting twice in a row (2019 and 2022), then in 2023 theoretically it should be Kelowna's turn...but Kamloops, who lost the 2020 bid, wants a chance at it as well, and I'm not sure what the OHL wants to do in 2024.

In leagues with the 1-8 seeding (NHL playoffs 1994-2014), does the team with the better record have home ice in the Stanley Cup? I know one issue for years was the higher seed did

Yeah, that's something I've wanted to do for a while. It'd probably come along with a more detailed way of choosing the international tournament hosts.

Does monthly spending on scouting improve results if you already have 20/20 in all areas you care about? And is it more cost effective to use monthly spending or hire more scouts?

Also, what does annual spending on player development actually do? What does +1 mean in that case?

It doesn't improve it beyond 20/20, but it looks like there's a bug at the moment that allows teams to reach 20 with something less than the maximum scouting spending level, we'll have to fix that.

The bonuses/penalties are increases/decreases in the player development bonus awarded on the training screen. Come to think of it, we should probably incorporate them into the number displayed on that screen to make that a little clearer.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how potential is displayed? Like what is the difference between "consensus ability/potential " vs "team scouting ability/potential"?
Some players they are the same, some they are different. Which one should I believe?

If i don't pick a national team at setup in Historical, will the tournaments still be played the same? I don't see a way to become a Coach of one in-game.
