October 15-16, 2035: ALDS Game 3 & NLDS Games 3-4
Back in charge...
![]() Game 3 was in many ways the mirror image of Game 2 as it was the Rays' turn to jump all over the opposition in the early innings as they raced to a 5-0 lead after 2 and cruised from there. And playing the part of Samuel Basallo today was Wes Kath, who like Basallo in Game 2 hit the big early 3-run homer to break the game open and later added a solo shot for his first Tampa Bay post-season homers after signing that massive contract last winter. Rogelio Vela did his usual hit-scattering-without-suffering-much-damage thing and now Earl Yohemas can pitch the Rays to the ALCS tomorrow. And in the other ALDS Minnesota kept its season alive: ![]() The "M.Brown" who homered for Minnesota is Mike, another former Ray. Catching up on the NLDS: ![]() ![]() Two days ago you would have gotten good money that the first NLDS to end would be Washington-Colorado after the Rockies won the first two on the road, but the Nats returned the favor by taking both games at Coors to force a deciding Game 5. Meanwhile San Diego disposed of Milwaukee in both their home games to become the first team to advance to the LCS. |

October 17, 2035: ALDS Game 4
Movin' on...
![]() It was tense in the end but the Rays dispatched Texas in 4 games to advance to the ALCS after a 5-4 win in Arlington. Mike Turner, who had a big series in all phases, belted a 2-run homer to put them ahead in the 4th after they had fallen behind quickly 2-0, and series MVP Wes Kath added a sac fly and Subaru Nakashima homered in the 5th with key insurance runs which were needed when Texas cut the lead to one in the 7th. But the back end of the pen held up, and the Rays are one step closer to that elusive first-ever World Series title although they've been here before so nobody's too excited. And they'll be playing the Mariners after they too took care of business with a gentleman's sweep: ![]() Bobby Miller went 7 shutout innings for the win and their closer Francisco Lucumi earned series MVP honors after saving all three wins. |
