No, that's the only one I can see. (MLBN, tomorrow.) Should have struck while my eyes were elsewhere.

Of course it won't happen but man I would love a Mets - Tigers world series.
My daughter's soon-to-be fiance (we have insider information from the young man!) is a Mets fan and due to proximity; he, my son, and I could attend a game at Uncle Stevie's place.

Wednesday's headlines: "Holmes feeds gopher, Mets go 0-fer"
I'm not terribly piqued by Clay Holmes surrendering two dingers after only one all season; that's just the law of averages. I'm pretty disappointed in Mendoza letting Jose Azocar end our only threat when we had the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth, and the Pirates had removed the faltering Falter for RHP Shugart, and we had Jeff McNeil on the bench, not mention $765mn of Soto. (Yes, Carlos wanted to give him TWO days off, but come on; you play Frankie every day and shortstop is a lot more involved in the action than RF on a daily basis. Juan [who was really unhappy with being sat] can take ONE PA without breaking down.) But, mostly, I just want to know what you were doing at the game, Westie?? |

Don't look for Soto to get a warm welcome tonight. A good single season, but not enough to engender lasting affection. Leaving the team for more money, already obscenely too much. Signing with the cross-town rival.
Definitely not conducive to good feelings. ![]() But Juan is ready, so he says. Soto eager to face crowd in return to the Bronx

Juan Soto is a braver man than me for going out there to turn his back to the hoodlums in the cheap section.

Fairly lousy day: they cut most of the remaining trees, ignoring the Cease and Desist letter I sent. (The sheriffs refused to do squat.)
Now do I get to see Mets-Yanks or are we so "close" to Atlanta (193.6 miles, baby!) that I get the Battle of Boston instead? |

All games are free on MLB TV this weekend, except for the Crapple games today, the Roku game on Sunday, and the ESPN game on Sunday. Unfortunately the Mets are on thus wiped on Sunday, but you can watch today and tomorrow.

Pete Crow-Armstrong just hit his 12th bomb for the Cubbies.
Oh, the sacrifices the Cubs made to get him from the Mets...! -.-

I'm not going to pay for Manfred-ball, Westie! I have my pride!
"Okay, I don't have a lot of my pride, but I have enough pride that I can't do [that]." In even better news, MLBN is giving us the Yankees-cast (Michael Kay in all his "glory"!) AND the Yankees, Team Tradition, the Upholders of History… …are wearing camouflage caps. Yes, the team who honors Babe and Lou in the Midnight Blue, every game…is wearing some salute to people who kill for a living, apparently. Let's give it up for defending American interests (ie, corporate bottom lines) around the globe! Hail Victory! WE LOVE "Da Troops"! War, war, war, how do you like it, how do you like it?" None of this John Lennon "give piece a chance" crap…Manly Manfred will honor literal Yankee Imperialism! Oh, joy. (It's not even a holiday, is it? WTF-etyF-etyF-etyF?????) ETA: No, my bad. All the teams get to bow the knee to the Pentagon Money Machine this weekend. It was just that the Mets were wearing normal helmets when batting in the top of first, and the Yanks make such a fetish out of uniform consistency that I was disconcerted. Whoops. (Maybe I just skip this weekend? It's not as if I enjoy interleague play or "measuring" ourselves against NYA. I have other things to do, after all…) Last edited by Amazin69; 05-16-2025 at 07:49 PM. |

Yeah I wasn't sure but I was pretty convinced that Memorial Day is still a few weeks away.
Megill sucked once more, and that was already pretty much the story in this game against Paul Goldfish and the Stinkees. Better luck next time?

Diaz wins the duel with Judge. 100 mph fastball, I believe, up and in. Swing and a miss. I mean, SWING! I could feel the breeze here, over 50 miles away.

I was convinced Judge would hit one not just into the cheap seats, our outta the park, but all the way to Connecticut and through Gary Cohen's kitchen window.
Oh well, there's still a game tomorrow ![]()

"Who would have thought Old Boom-Boom had such talent in him?", to butcher MacBeth
Not even an option today, since apparently FOX is more resolute about ensuring I get to see "my" Braves than MLBN was. Huh. Maybe tomorrow, since at least it won't be Michael Kay. (Or…will it????). I'll see how I feel. The Lenny Dykstra biography Nailed tells us that Dykstra liked to call Darryl Strawberry "Awesome Strawsome". Fairly cute, I'll allow. (There's no way Dykstra would have avoided calling Brett "Master Baty", is there?) |
