June 2305

BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 26 June 2305 CBO Analysis We have hit the halfway point of the season, so of course we think we know how the rest of the season will shake out. Of course, the trade frenzy has not yet commenced, so we'll see which teams try to switch from middling to contenders in the last 58 games of the season. On July 1, we will also take a hard look at the first half's most outstanding players. First, let's take a look at the Top 5, which is not much different than last time. Roxbury is #1 overall, currently 2.5 games up with the CBO's top record. In the last two weeks, the Rad Sox went 8-2, maintaining a strong edge over every other team. The Rad Sox swept Quincy (#23), won two of three at FHE (#16), swept the Gunners again, and beat the Yao Guai twice again. University Point returns as #2 this week, despite a pedestrian 5-5 in their last 10. The Deathclaws split at Diamond City (#15), won two at Quincy, split with Oberland (#14), and then won only once versus the Gunners. Quincy is probably really happy after this two-week stretch of nothing but Sox and Claws. Easy Town jumps up to #3 this week, maintaining the top record in the North Charles Association after an 8-2 run in their last 10. The Assaultrons split at Lexington (#17), swept at The Slog (#24), split with Sunshine Tidings (#7), and swept the Ghouls again. The Trons' league rival, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys are #4 with an 8-2 stretch. The Boys split at Bunker Hill (#19), swept Finch Farm (#22), swept Lexington (#17), and won two at Salem (#18). Atom completed the Top 5 after going 6-4 in their last 10, though they are currently riding a three-game losing streak. The Cats swept the T-51s, swept Goodneighbor (#21), split at Egret (#10), and then got swept at home by Jamaica Plain (#6). Brotherhood League This is a league that appears to be a three-team race playing for seeding in the playoffs now. All three of the top teams went 8-2 in the last two weeks, while the last three teams went 1-9 or worse, with Finch Farm losing all ten. That means the Assaultrons, Party Boys, and Bloodbugs all have distanced themselves and are now going to fight each other for the top spot. For County Crossing, they are still eight games back of Easy Town, so they still have a lot more to do to return to the top of the BL. However, their statistics have been ever increasing, as has their wins. The Bugs are now 3rd in runs scored (304) and 4th in runs allowed (271), climbing up to six games above .500. 1B Zeldolph Violet (.307/26/64) may be their best bet to win the Nuka-Hitter Award. LF Babs Rooth (.320/14/39) does not have the same numbers, but we do expect him to hit way more than 14 home runs in the second half of the season. The pitching is also still trying to find its footing in 2305. Ace Gavin Eviritts (6-5, 4.02) needs to be better. SP Urm Rehfeldt (10-3, 3.08) looks to be the only pitcher on the Vim! Pitcher Award watchlist. CL Jesse Bibeault (18 SV, 2.48) seems to be about what he was last season. Institute League Outside of Sunshine Tidings, which is now 10 games above .500 and six games up after a weekend sweep of Starlight, any other team could be in contention for the 4th seed in the playoffs. The Lady Killers and Concord are presently tied for second place with Lexington and Fort Hagen each a game behind them. While we probably started to write off the Radstags at one point, they went 9-1, tops in the CBO, in the last two weeks to be back in playoff contention. The Stags are now tied for 6th in runs scored (271) and 6th in runs against (278). Concord is led by three outstanding hitters in 1B Dusty Brownell (.281/24/57), LF Dan Erb (.323/12/39), and CF Pockets Aintfull (.313/1/23). SP Emperry Alizm (5-5, 3.19) has not had a lot of run support but has pitched well. CL Dan Beantown (14 SV, 1.93) has closed out games well. Minutemen League Just like the Brotherhood League, the Minutemen League's top three keep distancing themselves from the bottom three. All of University Point, Atom, and Jamaica Plain are solidly in the playoff sprint, while we expect Spectacle Island, Goodneighbor, and Quincy to start preparing for their 2306 campaign. Atom is perhaps one player struggling away from being in first place in the ML. The Cats' ace, Scruffy Taguchi (2-6. 4.07), has not been himself this season, nowhere near the productivity of Deedee Martinson (9-2, 2.66) and Bow Rome (12-2, 3.61). All but the Starters ERA (3rd at 3.56) is 1st or 2nd in pitching ranks in the South Charles Association, so Atom is in every game as a contender to shut down the opposing offense. On offense, the standout hitters have been RF Melon Sanderson (.323/22/65), SS Jake Doucette (.332/11/37), and 1B Casey Roux (.299/11/40). The Cats are 4th in runs scored (317), so they could even find more success to challenge for the #2 seed. Railroad League Roxbury is now 15.5 games up, so we could see them claiming the RL crown by early August if results remain similar. Egret has emerged as the 2nd-place team for now, not because they were highly successful (5-5 in their last 10) but because both Diamond City (2-8) and Oberland (3-7) have been worse. Vault 81 has suddenly sprouted to life, going 8-2 in their last 10. The Ninjas still do not seem to be as good as they played. They most certainly have not matched their fast start against the North Charles Association competition. Egret is currently 8th in scoring (286) and 4th in runs allowed (263). While pitching is not spectacular, the top two starters--Tup Mallory (7-3, 3.26) and Brahmin Lover Beardman (7-6, 3.55)--have been effective. CL Evan Before (17 SV, 2.14) has been really good. On offense, there are really no top players, but 1B Joe Mahaney (.289/17/51) and RF Rick Pickle (.297/13/35) have been productive. What may turn this season into ao overall plus season is the acquisition of IF Ajani Peacock (.368/3/10/5 SB), who could help generate multiple runs with his ability to get on base, steal a base, and score from second. SS Hopper Hayes (.301/7/22/8 SB) can also generate extra runs from the top of the lineup. CBO News and Notes CBO Commissioner and Commonwealth Hero Nate Howard has sent out an all-points bulletin to the companions who helped him tame the Commonwealth as they seek the creatures behind several attacks on Commonwealth settlements on the outskirts of the occupied territories policed by the Minutemen and Brotherhood of Steel. Some of the known entities that Howard has employed to drop their post-chaos duties and help in rounding up the culprits include my sister and owner of FHE, Piper Wright; owner of Goodneighbor, John Hancock; owner of Starlight, Irish Cait; owner of University Point, Heather Casdin; former CBO player, Paladin Danse; Diamond City mayor Robert MacCready; Detective Nick Valentine; the super mutant Strong; the nannybot Codsworth; Marie Curie; Deacon of the Railroad; Preston Garvey of the Minutemen; X6-88 of the Institute; Ada of Hester Robotics; and Howard's dog, Dogmeat II. They have split squads heading to both the Salem area and west of Lake Cochituate where some activity has been detected. In the meantime, Brotherhood and Minutemen troops have been on high alert in some of the other outskirt settlements. We will keep you posted on any more details as we receive reports. CBO Standings CBO Power Rankings CBO Players of the Week NCA June 19 - The North Charles Association today announced Chris Treestump as its Player of the Week. July 2305
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 July 2305 The July 1 Super Post CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 23 Baktu DaWell has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Sunshine Tidings Chemists star can enjoy the numbers he put up in June, which have garnered him the nod as the North Charles Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .338 average with 10 home runs, 19 RBIs and 20 runs scored. So far this year DaWell is batting .296 with 14 home runs. NCA Pitcher - Beachboy Nut of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys strung a bunch of high quality starts together in June to earn the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month trophy for the second-straight month. For the month he finished with a superlative 5 wins and no losses and a 1.29 ERA. The Nordhagen Beach star started 6 games, pitched 48.2 innings and struck out 43. Looking at his season stats, Nut has won 11 and lost 3, collecting 117 strikeouts and 26 walks in 129.2 innings with a 1.74 ERA. NCA Rookie - Matt Stickhouse is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In June the Bunker Hill hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .310 average with 27 hits, 5 home runs and 11 RBIs. In 2305 Stickhouse has hit at a .286 clip with 69 hits, 13 home runs, 32 RBIs and has scored 37 times. SCA Hitter - Harry Byrd battered South Charles Association pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 26-year-old Byrd told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 22 games, Byrd hit .411 with 7 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 22 runs. Byrd is hitting .315 so far this season with 38 RBIs and 38 runs scored. He has 69 hits including 12 home runs, 40 walks and .426 OBP. SCA Pitcher - The South Charles Association scribes have selected June's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Bow Rome of Atom. He was outstanding on the hill last month and has the numbers to prove it -- a 5-0 record. The Cats star performer made 5 starts with a 2.61 ERA and surrendered 28 hits in 31 innings. He struck out 20 and walked 7. This year Rome has posted a 13-2 mark in 16 starts and has a 3.38 ERA. SCA Rookie - Plump Jack Korson's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Egret catcher has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .328 with 3 doubles, no triples and 5 home runs. Korson also scored 11 times and drove in 12 runs. In 59 games this season Korson has batted at a .285 pace with 59 hits and 7 home runs. The Bots are on an 11-game winning streak. BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - Heston Prynne was declared the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month today. Nahant's left fielder stroked 27 hits in 56 at-bats for a .482 average in June. He also hit 11 home runs, drove in 23 and scored 18 runs. So far this season, Prynne has recorded a .357 batting average with 61 hits, 26 home runs, 50 RBIs, 48 runs scored and a .430 OBP. MA Hitter - Warwick Mirelurks fans believe they've got a talented young star in Ken Debate who just won his second-straight Player of the Month. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .400 with 14 home runs, 22 RBIs and 19 runs scored. The end result was the left fielder being named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month. This year Debate is hitting .442 with 37 home runs. CA Pitcher - The Everett Mutant Hounds celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Edwin Mass had been selected as June's Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month. Mass's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic. "Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," Mass said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs." Mass tossed 37.1 innings last month, holding opponents to a .217 average while striking out 22 batters. In 5 starting assignments he came away with a 4-0 record, putting together an ERA of 3.38. Thus far this season, Mass has tossed 98.2 innings in 13 starts, fanned 46 batters, walked 15 and put up a 2.55 ERA with 10 wins and no losses. MA Pitcher - Jalen Gibbons is the latest Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month trophy winner. The Eastlake starter sparkled on the diamond time and again last month and finished June with an outstanding 3-0 record. In 6 starts he tossed 40 innings, posted 16 strikeouts, and sported a 1.35 ERA. Up to now Gibbons has recorded a record of 7-3. In 13 starts he has fanned 43 batters in 88 innings with a 2.76 ERA. GBRL Analysis Division leaders are the Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks (Jamaica Plain) of the Northeast Division by one game over both the Lynn Fortune Finders (Oberland) and Clifton Vertibirds (Spectacle Island), the Covenant Refractors (Vault 81) of the Northwest Division, the Castle Strength (Quincy) of the Southeast Division, and the Beantown Brewers (Egret) by a game over the CGP Demolitionists (Starlight) in the Southwest Division. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Jumping Jehoshaphat Cobb set the league afire in June and took home the North League Batter of the Month award. The Lynn first baseman posted a steady .451 batting average, 14 home runs, 27 RBIs and 20 runs. This year Cobb is batting .384 with 33 hits, 17 home runs, 43 RBIs, 18 walks, .500 OBP and has scored 29 runs. SL Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Greater Boston Rookie League, Tulip Edwards put up some good numbers in June and earned the SL Batter of the Month award. He was one of CGP's offensive leaders with a .413 average in 20 games. He also racked up 5 home runs, 16 RBIs, and 17 runs scored. On the year Edwards has hit .341 with 11 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 33 runs. NL Pitcher - Chad Nailgun of Lynn had a tremendous June with a 4-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the North League. Nailgun restricted opposing hitters to 25 base hits and a .175 batting average. He rang up 44 strikeouts in 41.1 innings of work, surrendered 8 walks, and crafted a 0.65 ERA. In 8 starts this season Nailgun has recorded a 5-1 record and a 1.26 ERA. SL Pitcher - There was nobody finer on the mound in June and David Lunchtime cruised to the South League Pitcher of the Month award today. He was 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA while piling up 28 strikeouts in 37.1 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .180 batting average. So far this year Lunchtime has 6 wins and no losses and a 1.57 ERA. BYDL Analysis In the North Region, the Woburn Diners (Benjamin Franklin Division), Green Future Sea Urchins (Ralph Waldo Emerson Division), and Wattz Ups (Paul Revere Division) lead their divisions. In the South Region, the Castle Freedom (Samuel Adams Division), Needham Radstorm, Thompson Heights Earthlings, and Weymouth Locksmiths (Samuel Morse Division), and West Quincy Atomatoys (Crispus Attacks Division) all lead their divisions. BYDL Players of the Month NR Hitter - Family Sam Partridge has a lot going for him. The Boston Harbor right fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the North Region has just picked him as its top hitter for June for the second-straight month. In 26 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .485 with 10 home runs, 35 RBIs and 24 runs scored. This year Partridge is batting .426 with 23 home runs and 72 RBIs. SR Hitter - Senior Gizmo Stripe certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the SR Batter of the Month award for June. The 17-year-old right fielder for the West Quincy Atomatoys hit .417 with 9 home runs, 26 RBIs and 29 runs scored. To date, Stripe has collected 89 hits for a .376 average. He has posted 15 home runs, scored 52 runs and driven in 48 runs. NR Pitcher - The #1 pitcher in the North Region this month was South Charles Bank Moonies reliever Electric Willis. He won the league's Best Pitcher Award for June by saving 7 games in 7 save opportunities. Over the period Willis also had 1 win and no losses. The Moonies relief ace had 24 strikeouts and 3 walks in 16.2 innings, surrendered 6 base hits and registered a 0.00 ERA. To date, Willis has registered a 2-0 won-lost mark, has 20 relief appearances and rung up 15 saves. He has a 1.03 ERA and has allowed 16 hits over his 26.1 innings of work, struck out 39 batters and walked 6. SR Pitcher - Clubhouse Treelover really tore up the South Region this past month. He went 4-0 in June and won the Pitcher of the Month award for the Weymouth Locksmiths. In 7 starts he struck out 78 in 45.1 innings with a 0.99 ERA. Treelover has a 8-3 season record so far. In 15 starts, he has fanned 145 batters in 99 innings with a 2.18 ERA. CCYL Analysis The Eastham Rads of the North Division and the Harwich Fishheads of the South Division won their divisions to advance to the Cape Cod Series. In Game 1, the Rads won 8-6 behind two home runs by LF Wilde Game. Eastham then won Game 2, 8-5, to clinch the Cape Cod Series. The Rads now become the fifth different champions in the five-year history of the league. Next season, the CCYL will merge with the PJPL as announced last month. PJPL Analysis The West Seekonk Quahog won the regular season crown and were joined by second-place, the Woodlawn Red Clay, in the Rhode Island Series. There, the Red Clay won both games, 1-0 and 3-1, to clinch their first PJPL title. It was their third overall and second-straight trip to the Rhode Island Series. SP Idgrod Younger of the Red Clay was named Series MVP. CBO Statistical Leaders

2305 Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 July Quantum, Orange Still Hold Leads The Quantum Nukalurks and Orange Tourists still are divisional leaders through the second month of the 2305 NWL season though the division races are tight. Quantum only has a four-game lead on the last-place team, Wild, while the Tourists have a little more padding, leading second-place Cherry by 2.5 games. For top players of the month, again we have a double award thanks to a top CBO player becoming a rookie in the NWL this season. The 25-year-old Cherry first baseman hit .494 with 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored. This year Doctorman has 17 home runs and a .445 batting average. In the NWL, Doctorman is currently 1st in Batting Average (.445), 1st in home runs (17), 1st in RBI (48), 1st in OBP (.479), 1st in SLG (.805), 1st in OPS (1.284), 1st in WAR (4.0), 1st in hits (89), 1st in runs (47), 2nd in doubles (19), 1st in TB (161), tied for 1st in SF (3), 1st in XBH (37), 1st in ISO (.360), 1st in OPS+ (206), 1st in WPA (3.95), and 1st in wOBA (.528). The Nuka World League scribes have announced June's Pitcher of the Month and have given the award to Danny Cautious of Quantum. He was one tough cookie on the mound last month with a fine 4-1 mark to prove it. The Quantum star made 6 starts with a 2.86 ERA and surrendered 37 hits in 44 innings. He struck out 24 and walked 6. In 13 starts this season Cautious has compiled a 7-4 record and a 4.17 ERA. APL The Bradberton Disciples (Victory) of the North Division has 14-game lead in their division, while the Dry Rock Gulch Convicts (Dark) hold a 4-game lead over the Grandchester Flying Ants (Cherry) in the South Division. When Jamie Salemson stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month award. The young Grandchester catcher posted a .500 batting average with 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 26 runs. Salemson also worked pitchers for 8 walks to post a .535 on-base percentage. Batting .427 to date, Salemson has 10 home runs and 46 RBIs. The Amusement Park League made it official today -- Mike Gustafson of the Bradberton Disciples is the Pitcher of the Month. In June he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters. Gustafson made 6 starts, registered 4 wins and no losses with a solid 4.05 ERA. In 26.2 innings he allowed 28 hits, racked up 25 strikeouts, walked 16 and permitted teams to hit .275 against him. On the season Gustafson has 7 wins and 1 loss and a 4.94 ERA. NWLRL The leaders in the North Bradberton Division are the Quantum B Nukalurks, while the Orange B Tourists are the leaders in the South Bradberton Division. Wild B Gatorclaws fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in June. Kyle Lullaby put up a remarkable month at the age of 22 and has been named the NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month. For the month, Lullaby hit .442 with 7 home runs, 19 RBIs and 32 runs scored. Lullaby is hitting .410 in 2305 with 19 RBIs and 7 home runs. Following one of the brightest stretches in his career, the NWL Rookie League awarded Cherry B reliever Dave Vassar June's Pitcher of the Month trophy. He was mesmerizing as he held opponents to a .197 batting average and put together a 3-0 mark, no saves, 17 strikeouts and a 3.10 ERA during his 20.1 innings of work. Checking out his season stats to date, Vassar has no saves in 13 relief appearances. He's posted a record of 6 and 0 with an ERA of 4.03. BBL The Fizztop Mountain Conquerors clinched the regular season title and were joined by the Wixon Shovels in the Bradberton Noys Series. There, the Conquerors won both games, 5-4 and 7-4, to clinch the 2305 title. It is their third title in four years. They lost the series to the Starport Nuka Hubologists last season. 1B Os Cazadore of Fizztop Mountain was named the Series MVP thanks to a two-home run game in Game 2. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 1 July Vim! League's Visionary Verdict for the 2305 Voyage Dalton Farm and Far Harbor continue to look as though they are on a crash course toward the Vim! Series in 2305 as they both continue to lead their divisions. Both teams met in the 2304 series, with the Fog Crawlers winning their second-straight league crown. Gyro Olly is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Eden Meadows right fielder joined that select company when the Vim! League announced the results of June's voting. Olly totaled 39 hits, 16 walks, 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and 20 runs scored last month to put together a .433 batting average and .505 on-base percentage. This year Olly has hit at a .323 clip with 61 hits, 7 home runs, 30 RBIs and 30 runs scored. Alex Ruder of the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales is the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month again. In June, he sparkled and shined on the mound with 4 wins and 1 loss in 6 starts. Ruder checked opposing batters on 39 base hits and a .229 batting average. He rang up 43 strikeouts in 48.1 innings of work, surrendered 19 walks and fashioned a 2.98 ERA. Ruder has gone 9-1 this season with an ERA of 2.66 and 88 strikeouts in 108.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .227 against him. On the heels of a breakout month Little Rat Swickard received the Vim! League Rookie of the Month trophy from BNN. The Grand Hotel hurler flashed some fine figures in June, picking up 1 win and no losses, 14 IP, 0.64 ERA, 18 strikeouts and 6 walks. When he was on the mound, the opposition could only manage a .235 batting average. This year Swickard has made 21 relief appearances, pitched 26.1 innings, and fashioned a 1-2 record with a 3.76 ERA. He has recorded 14 saves, struck out 31, and allowed opposing clubs to hit .270 when he is on the hill. MDIL The Southwest Harbor Rippers (Echo Lake) continue to lead the Small Bertha Division, as do the Oceanarium Oceanics (National Park) who lead the Old Longfellow Division. Ken Roderick put together a good June to earn the Mount Desert Island League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Nucleus officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Radchickens first baseman posted a .368 batting average with 9 home runs, 20 RBIs and 23 runs scored. This year Roderick is hitting .339 with 11 home runs and 26 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .410 clip and scored 31 runs. Jayden Lassiter is the latest Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Oceanarium starter stood out on the hill time and again last month and finished June with a sparkling 4-0 record. In 5 starts last month, he fanned 33, walked 8 in 37 innings and posted a 1.95 ERA. Lassiter held opposing teams to a .228 batting average when he was on the mound. Lassiter has made 10 starts so far this year and put up a 5-1 won-lost record with a 2.11 ERA. In 68.1 innings he has allowed 56 hits, walked 25 and struck out 53. VRL In the Western Atlantic Division, the Vim! Factory Pops (Echo Lake) lead the Glowing Grove Brainiacs (National Park) by a game. In the Eastern Atlantic Division, the Fringe Cove Champions (Far Harbor) still have a five-game lead. At only 20 years of age, Alexis Nightperson could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Rock Point Barnacles, as June was one to remember for the third baseman and he has captured the VIM! Rookie League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .410 with 10 home runs, 23 RBIs and 17 runs scored. So far this season Nightperson has 20 home runs and a .380 batting average. Clegg Holdfast of MS Azalea had an excellent June with a 3-0 record and was selected as the Pitcher of the Month in the VIM! Rookie League. He finished the month with a 2.03 ERA while piling up 33 strikeouts in 31 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .230 batting average. In 12 starts this season Holdfast has registered a 6-2 record and a 4.09 ERA. MYL In the Mount Desert Island Four, the Cliff's Edge Wolves pulled away in the last 10 games to best Beaver Creek for the league crown. The Echo Point Glowers held on in the Great Diamond Island League race, taking the crown by two games over the Diamond Cove Fort Knights. In the Maine Youth Series, the Glowers edged the Wolves, two games to one. Final scores were 5-0 Echo Point, 5-0 Cliff's Edges, and 3-0 Echo Point. 3B Pan Sea of the Glowers was named the Series MVP.

July 2305
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 10 July 2305 CBO Analysis There are fewer than 50 games to go per team and we can now pinpoint exactly which teams are buyers and sellers heading into the playoff rush. There have already been some shake-ups in players moved, and that means some teams are looking to get sturdier at the positions they consider weak. Let's look at the Top 5 and then look at buyers and sellers per league. University Point enters as this week's #1 after a 9-1 stretch in their last 10 and now a sold 11-game lead in the Minutemen League. In the last two weeks, the Deathclaws swept FHE (#17), won two of three at Jamaica Plain (#5), swept Diamond City (#10), and then swept Atom (#6). The team still holding on to the CBO's best record, Roxbury, comes in at #2 after going 7-3 in their last 10. The Rad Sox split at the Cats, won two at Vault 81 (#21), swept Goodneighbor (#23), and then won two over Oberland (#12). Nordhagen Beach comes in at #3 after taking over the top record in the North Charles Association during an 8-2 stretch. The Party Boys, who lead the Brotherhood League by a game, split at Sunshine Tidings (#7), swept Easy Town (#4), swept Starlight (#9), and then won two of three at Finch Farm (#22). As mentioned above, the Assaultrons are #4 after going 6-4 in their last 10, though they are on a five-game winning streak. The Trons split with Bunker Hill (#13), lost all three at the Boys, swept Lexington (#15), and then swept Salem (#18). Jamaica Plain rounds out the Top 5 with a 7-3 mark in their last 10. The Red Rockets won both games at the T-51s, won one at home against the Claws, swept the Dwellers, and then won two of three at Spectacle Island (#16). Brotherhood League The BL looks as though both Nordhagen Beach and Easy Town will be battling for the league crown in 2305 with County Crossing currently playing for the 5th seed. With Salem's six-game losing streak, it may be too early to categorize them as sellers, but both Finch Farm and The Slog are struggling to find wins, meaning they are on the sellers list. For the Four Leafs as the CBO's smallest current settlement, they may be double sellers or pull a similar move as the Abernathys did last year in relocating the main team to a more populous center. For now, though, let's focus on needs and what's available in this league. For the Leafs, it is hard to imagine they will part ways with their standout youngsters in SS Pipe Wallcrawler (.257/10/37) and RF Orcin Cardinal (.330/21/60). Other players may be available, including good players such as C Deacon Gookin (.250/1/15) and 1B Will Ashfire (.225/18/47), as well as some other veterans who can help teams, including SP Brent Hooker, 3B Joel Mutfruit, and CF Base McAndrews. The Ghouls also have some good, young talent that we expect them to protect, including CF Stu Gains (.342/17/43), 2B Sylvester Scallone (.219/2/12), 1B John Windman (.244/18/45), and C Silvam Fourteen (.258/10/32). The Slog probably needs a bunch of mid-tier players to keep them afloat and take up CBO spots so that they can give their young players more time to develop. Scouts are already starting to sour on P Tiger Fanne (3-1, 7.86, 0 GS) after he was brought up way too early and remains stuck in bullpen action with the Ghouls. CL Bill Satterfield (15 SV, 2.35) is probably the only player who can generate any excitement from other teams. For the three potential buyers in the BL, Nordhagen Beach could use more offense from 3B and a better closer to move David "AntAgonist" Kidd (24 SV, 2.29) to a setup role. Easy Town needs offense at 2B and bullpen help up and down the pen. County Crossing could also use bullpen production and offense from 2B and C. Institute League Every time Sunshine Tidings looks as though they will take full control of the IL, they seem to face setbacks. As it stands, the Chemists are the one team that looks to be best suited to challenge for a trip to the Sole Survivor Series. Starlight and Concord are left to fight for the 4th seed. Lexington, Bunker Hill, and Fort Hagen may be sellers this month. The Silver Shroud are already sellers, parting ways with two stars in CF Ben Pawlak (traded to Roxbury) and SS Wally Warwick (traded to Atom). Star pitcher, SP Derek Green (6-8, 3.06) may be the next to go, though we would expect a good pitcher prospect package to get him. The 75ers may want to consider their youth movement by putting veterans LF Donny Kowalksi (.280/14/48), 2B C.T. Woodward (.261/10/28), and CF Any Why (.294/15/38) on the trading block. Like the Shroud, Bunker Hill should be asking for pitcher prospects. For the Chemists, they are really missing injured LF B.J. Perez (.332/1/8) since being attacked in Salem by one of the mysterious creature attacks of late. The Sunshine Tidings bullpen has probably been overachieving, too, so they may look to find a few more players to pitch. Minutemen League This was once a competitive league, but University Point has begun to run away from the pack and now is 6-0 against second-place Atom on the season. It's hard to find what the Claws may need since they rule just about every offensive category. Maybe more speed in the outfield? Otherwise, the only other weakness may be the back end of the bullpen. Atom seems to be trying to address potential issues by acquiring Warwick from Fort Hagen, but we are not sure where he'll fit in with 1B Casey Roux, 2B Rabbit Forest, SS Jake Doucette, and 3B Shane Stabb already taking up infield slots. They could use him to acquire more starting pitching or to improve LF. Spectacle Island has improved in the last couple of years, but they are still far away. They have several up and coming players, so they may sit tight. Or they may look to turn a few veterans like RF Matt Basile, SP Dobbie Radoncis, and 1B Cody Flatt into some extra players that can contribute once the young players begin to star. Goodneighbor and Quincy lack CBO talent, so they have a few more problems than the Reapers do. Other than their closers, we cannot see them being heavy players in trade days unless they look to build a solid veteran team through trades of their many prospects. Railroad League This league has turned out to be strangely mediocre. First, Roxbury now holds an 18.5-game lead over Egret and 20 games over Diamond City. That means the Sox are potentially going to clinch a playoff spot before this month is done. The Rad Sox also seemed to solve their greatest problem by acquiring Pawlak from Fort Hagen. Pawlak (.257/5/29) has struggled in 2305 but when he is on, he brings both power and speed to the lineup. Roxbury may also want to look for a replacement for their fourth starter since SP Gwinnett Southie (5-5, 7.51) has been terrible this season. FHE and Vault 81 may be heave sellers. Reportedly, the Dwellers have been shopping stars 2B Harry Byrd (.318/13/42) and SS Tib Shorthop (.234/7/23). The Yao Guai have supposedly made RF Joe Rathmann (.322/9/26) available. CBO Standings CBO Power Rankings CBO Players of the Week NCA July 3 - With some great hand-eye coordination and a sweet, compact swing, Bunker Hill 75ers left fielder Donny Kowalski took the North Charles Association by storm this past week to take the latest Player of the Week honors. "The ball was looking like a beach ball all week," a happy Kowalski said to BNN reporters. "When it's that big, it doesn't matter where they throw it -- I can hit it anywhere." The 27-year-old left fielder hit .458 (11-for-24) last week with 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored. This year Kowalski is hitting .278 with 73 hits, 12 home runs, 41 RBIs and has scored 39 runs. July 10 - Red Sone demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Sunshine Tidings catcher wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .611 average (11-for-18) with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. To date Sone has chalked up a .288 average with 15 home runs, driven in 40 runs and scored 30 times. SCA July 3 - Aesed Hayjen is respected by most University Point Deathclaws fans for his no-frills style of play. The 27-year-old center fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .542 average (13-for-24) with 3 home runs, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored. Currently Hayjen is batting .357 with 20 home runs and 58 RBIs. July 10 - This week he let his bat do the talking. That's why Barker Cocoa of the University Point Deathclaws was named the South Charles Association Player of the Week. For the week the 26-year-old first baseman batted .533 (8-for-15) with 5 home runs, 9 runs and 8 RBIs. In 72 games this season Cocoa is batting .368 with 91 hits and 28 home runs. All-Star News
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 17 July All-Star Rosters CBO It is not an easy task to pick the best players for the annual baseball classic -- the All-Star Game. The NCA manager, Crow Guai of County Crossing, conceded that not every deserving player is rewarded with a spot on the roster. "Every year," he said, "someone is disappointed to be left out. This year's no different -- too many good players, not enough roster spots." BMU How would you like to manage a team with more star players than you can play? It wouldn't be an easy chore. That's the dilemma facing the two managers at the annual Boston Minor Union All-Star classic -- how to get all the talented All-Stars in the game. But it's a joy for the fans -- to see all their favorite stars on one field at the same time. "We had a meeting before the game, and I was struck by the talent in the room. Old stars, young stars, it's a game I'll never forget," Reynolds said. "I talked to a few of my friends from back home, and they told me to go out and win the game for them. I'm sure they'll be thrilled."

2305 Season
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 24 July CBO Analysis We have now finished 2/3 of the 2305 season, and the big story for now is that some teams are on the brink of clinching a playoff spot (probably beginning in mid-August) and some teams are close to elimination. If the playoffs were to start today, these would be the seedings: NCA - 1. Nordhagen Beach, 2. Sunshine Tidings, 3. Easy Town, 4. Concord, 5. County Crossing SCA - 1. Roxbury, 2. University Point, 3. Jamaica Plain, 4. Egret, 5. Atom Now, let's take a look at the Top 5. With the top record in the CBO, the two-time defending champions, the Roxbury Rad Sox, are #1. In the last two weeks, the Sox went 7-1, sweeping Goodneighbor (#23), winning two of three at Oberland (#14), and then sweeping Egret (#11) after the All-Star Break. With that sweep, the Rad Sox now own a 21.5-game lead in the Railroad League over the Ninjas. University Point is #2 after going 5-3 in the last two weeks. The Deathclaws swept the T-51s, won one at Atom (#8), and then won two of three over the Hancocks. Jamaica Plain jumps into the #3 spot this week, though they still trail the Claws by 10 games in the Minutemen League. In the last two weeks, the Red Rockets went 7-1, including a split at Diamond City (#10), a sweep of Quincy (#24), and then a sweep of the Cats. Making their debut in the Top 5 both for themselves and the Institute League, the Sunshine Tidings are #4 this week thanks to a nine-game winning streak. The Chemists swept Easy Town (#6), Fort Hagen (#21), and Starlight (#13) in the last two weeks to surge ahead to a seven-game IL lead. The team with the North Charles Association's top record, the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys are #5 this week to close out the Top 5. The Boys went 5-3 in the last two weeks, splitting at Lexington (#15), winning two over The Slog (#22), and then winning two over Salem (#16). Brotherhood League Nordhagen Beach and Easy Town sit atop the BL, but County Crossing has not gone away. One year removed from their first trip to the Sole Survivor Series, the Bloodbugs have distanced themselves from other teams trying to make the playoffs, including Salem, Starlight, and Lexington. The Bugs are still trying to figure out how to get their pitching to match their 2304 success. At the moment, County Crossing is 5th in runs allowed (354), 4th in Starters ERA (4.24), and 4th in Bullpen ERA (4.10). SPs Gavin Everitts (7-7. 4.56) and Whip Lashley (6-5, 4.99) have been giving up lots of runs, meaning that the offense is under even more pressure. The best overall pitcher is CL Jesse Bibeault (23 SV, 2.38). Institute League Sunshine Tidings suddenly looks like a playoff team, riding their nine-game winning streak into a key series at Nordhagen Beach this week for trying to gain momentum down the stretch for the top NCA record. In the battle for the 2nd spot in the IL, Concord has a two-game edge over the Lady Killers. The Radstags have seen a swing in their pitching success, even with three of their starters--Emperry Alizm (6-8, 3.84), Chris Radsco (5-6, 4.47), and David Strickland (5-7, 5.70)--sporting losing records. They are 3rd in runs allowed (351) and 3rd in Bullpen ERA (3.83). Like County Crossing, the Stags' best pitcher is closer Dan Beantown (17 SV, 1.83). Minutemen League Perhaps currently the most dangerous team in the CBO, the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets have surged up the standings past Atom and look to have University Point in their VATS crosshairs. The Rockets are now 3rd in runs scored (402) and 2nd in runs against (332) as the pitching staff finally remembered how to dominate. Digger Vadim (7-5, 3.17) had a slow start to the season but has shut down opposing offenses for a while now. Chris Teddybear (7-3, 3.05) and Tim Fusion (10-3, 3.39) have continued to pitch well. The offense continues to generate runs at a steady pace, especially LF Carney Cornseed (.282/27/70) and RF Damani Beebe (,277/23/65). Railroad League Before being swept by the Rad Sox, Egret looked to start taking control of their destiny in the RL. Now they are just 1.5 games up on Diamond City. However, in the next three weeks, the Swatters must face Roxbury 10 times, meaning that the Ninjas could make a little distance heading into the final five weeks of the regular season. To do that, Egret needs to find more success at the plate. They are 8th in runs scored (359) with room to improve their runs scored in the last 40 games of the season. RF Rick Pickle (.309/16/54) and 1B Joe Mahaney (.277/18/59) have been the most productive players on the season, with the addition of 2B Ajani Peacock (.368/4/19/10 SB) helping, including in stolen bases where the Ninjas are tied for 2nd (41). CBO News and Notes There has been a huge update on the offensive just north of Salem in the town of Beverly. Initial reports have found a "farm" and "chemical lab" that had some rather interesting materials. We have not been made aware of the chemicals found at the lab, but our initial speculation was that it included FEV. Sources have not confirmed that information. There was a large firefight near Mackerel Cove that has been confirmed. A mirelurk queen was observed being searched at the point of Mackerel Cove, including sightings of Nate Howard and other companions near Salem. We will update you as we learn more about the situation. CBO Standings CBO Power Rankings CBO Players of the Week NCA July 17 - Babs Rooth went on a week-long hitting spree against North Charles Association pitchers and captured the Player of the Week honors. The County Crossing left fielder battered the opposition for 13 hits, 3 home runs, 6 runs batted in and scored 6 runs. He hit .565 and posted a .600 on-base percentage. This year Rooth is batting .325 with 19 home runs. He has scored 61 runs and driven in 51. July 24 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Baktu DaWell, the Sunshine Tidings Chemists 23-year-old right fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 6 hits in 13 at-bats, compiling a .462 average with 5 home runs and 11 RBIs. This year DaWell has batted at a .310 pace with 87 hits, 22 home runs, 63 RBIs and scored 60 times. SCA July 17 - Few players his age are still in the league, but Melon Sanderson of the Atom Cats clearly loves the game and clearly he can still get the job done. Last week the 35-year-old right fielder hit the ball with the consistency of someone ten years younger, which made Sanderson a popular and well-deserved selection as South Charles Association Player of the Week. He paced the Cats attack by putting up a .450 batting average, 9 hits in 20 at-bats, 11 RBIs and 5 home runs. Sanderson also scored 5 runs. This season Sanderson is batting .308 with 89 hits, 28 home runs, 82 RBIs, 42 walks, .396 OBP and has scored 66 runs. He has played in 77 games. July 24 - He was a hard-hitting machine all week long. That's why Ben Pawlak of the Roxbury Rad Sox was named the South Charles Association Player of the Week. For the week the 28-year-old center fielder batted .385 (5-for-13) with 3 home runs, 6 runs and 9 RBIs. Presently Pawlak is batting .263 with 10 home runs and 43 RBIs. He has played in 76 games and scored 43 times. CBO Transactions Monday, July 24th , 2305 Bunker Hill 75ers: Placed RP Seward Kennedy on the 7-day injured list, retroactive to 07/23/2305. BYDL Final Standings BYDL Playoff Tree CCYL-PJPL News The CCYL and PJPL leagues will merge in 2306 with the completion of a railway from Providence to Sandwich. Another rail line is still in the works from Quincy to Sandwich, with another line to begin from Providence to Boston with expected completion sometime around 2310. In 2306, they will finalize the league, but two extra youth teams will join the Providence division along the rail line, both on the Massachusetts side of the border. Those two teams will reportedly be called the Swansea Nuka Sox and the New Bedford Whales, named after current travel teams in the area. Expectations are that there will be an 8-team Providence division to match against an 8-team Cape Cod division. All players are still a part of the Boston youth leagues, meaning eligible players can be drafted in the CBO Rookie Draft each November. 2305 Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 August Quantum, Orange Continue to Hold On as Season Winds Down The Quantum Nukalurks and Orange Tourists still are divisional leaders through the third month of the 2305 NWL season. Quantum has a three-game lead on the Grape Painted Ghouls, while the Tourists have a 9-game lead over Quartz with just 14 to play. For top players of the month, we have a double award for the third time, but this time it is not Chase Doctorman who predictably was dealt back to the CBO. Mousey Rooney really put on a show in July, earning the Batter of the Month Award and Rookie of the Month in the Nuka World League! The Grape catcher batted .370 with 11 home runs, 30 RBIs, 19 runs scored, along with 12 walks to compile a .448 on-base percentage. So far this season Rooney has hit .320 with 21 home runs, 64 RBIs and scored 44 times. Allen Puckett was on top of the world in July, capping it off with the Nuka World League Pitcher of the Month honors. The Orange starter was superb in 7 starts with 5 wins and no losses, 56.1 innings pitched, 37 strikeouts and a fine 2.08 ERA. Presently Puckett has a 10-1 mark in 20 starts with a 2.72 ERA. He has given up 128 hits in 148.2 innings, struck out 98 and issued 43 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .236 batting average against him. APL The Bradberton Disciples (Victory) of the North Division have clinched their division, while the Dry Rock Gulch Convicts (Dark) hold a 1-game lead over the Grandchester Flying Ants (Cherry) in the South Division. Ghost Hildebrand got another reason to celebrate today as he followed up a great month of July at the plate by winning the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month Award. During the month the Bradberton center fielder hit .416 with 7 home runs, 30 RBIs and 29 runs scored. Thus far in 2305 Hildebrand is hitting .389 with 14 home runs, 65 RBIs, 85 runs scored and has compiled a .443 OBP. The Galactic Zone G-Force felt very secure when they sent D'Andre Frost out to the hill last month. The 25-year-old starter went after Amusement Park League hitters with a vengeance and earned July's Pitcher of the Month award. He went 5-1 with a 4.12 ERA as he struck out 25 in 39.1 innings over 6 starts. In 18 starts this season Frost has fashioned a 9-8 record and a 4.56 ERA. NWLRL The WildB Gatorclaws (39-31) slipped past the Quantum B Nukalurks in the North Bradberton Division in the last two games. In the South Bradberton Division, the Orange B Tourists held on to win. In the NWL Rookie Series, the Gatorclaws triumphed over the Tourists, 3 games to 1, to win the Series. 2B Kyle Lullaby was named the Series MVP. The NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month has been picked for July and the honor goes to the Wild B Gatorclaws Kyle Lullaby. He compiled a .560 batting average with 28 hits and 7 home runs, along with 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored. So when does a fireman win an award? When he's named Gary McIver, that's when. The Wild B reliever won the Pitcher of the Month Award honors today for July, thanks to the solid numbers he put up coming out of the bullpen. He made 5 relief appearances and compiled no saves with a 2-0 mark, 10.1 innings, 10 strikeouts and a 1.74 ERA. In his career, McIver has appeared in 38 games and earned no saves with 58 Ks in 50.2 innings. He has a record of 4 wins and 3 losses and a 4.80 ERA. BBL Awards MVP - The future looks extremely bright for Rush Clovis. At the age of 17, many players are still trying to find their way in Bradberton Boys League. Clovis has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Bradberton Boys League Most Valuable Player Award. "I didn't expect to hit .462 this year, that's for sure," the first baseman said. The Ol Sugartop Buckaroos star also put up a .547 on-base percentage this year, with 66 hits, 3 doubles, no triples, 28 home runs, 48 RBIs and 40 runs scored. View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 1 July Vim! League's Visionary Verdict for the 2305 Voyage Dalton Farm has already clinched the Fog Division, while Far Harbor has a Magic # of 10 to win the Harbor Division. With 14 games to play, the Ghoul Whales are up by five games on the Grand Hotel Atoms. Both the Atoms and Acadia are still alive for a playoff shot. In the month of July Clean Mullis thumped the ball with authority, earning Vim! League Batter of the Month honors in the process. Grand Hotel's first baseman hit .383 with 14 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 26 runs. Mullis on the season is batting .285 with 26 home runs. His totals include 69 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has played in 75 games. The Pitcher of the Month for July has been picked and the Vim! League award went to Dalton Farm hurler, Phil Cecil. During the month, Cecil was impressive with a 2.54 ERA and 5 wins and 1 loss. In 46 innings he struck out 32 and gave up 44 hits and 8 walks. Cecil has made 19 starts this season, posting 10 wins and 6 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .306 against him and he has 96 strikeouts in 134 innings with a 4.16 ERA. The batter wants to "hit 'em where they ain't." And that is just what Chris Dominoes did all month long to net the Vim! League Rookie of the Month Award. In July he slapped 45 hits in 93 at-bats for a .484 batting average. Dominoes also racked up 4 home runs, 16 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. Dominoes on the season is hitting .421 with 10 home runs. His stats include 44 RBIs and 48 runs scored. MDIL The Nucleus Radchickens (Eden Meadows) have taken control of the Small Bertha Division, leading both the Cliff's Edge Actors and Southwest Harbor Rippers by three games and the Brooke's Head Behemoths by four. In the Old Longfellow Division, the Oceanarium Oceanics (National Park) continue to lead. The Oceanics lead Rayburn Point by eight games, while the Eagle's Cove Harpooners and Haddock Cove Engineers are both eliminated with 14 to play. It's a time for celebration in Oceanarium as Portfolio Michel has just walked away with July's Mount Desert Island League Batter of the Month award. He socked 38 hits in 98 at-bats to put up a .388 batting average, 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and 31 runs scored. Looking at his present stats, Michel has compiled a .390 batting average in 76 games with a .452 on-base percentage, while hitting 23 home runs and driving in 71 runs. When Bill Stinson took the hill in July, he was in charge. The Nucleus starter never let the Mount Desert Island League batters get a foothold against him. For his peerless performance, he came away with an impressive 5-1 record and the Pitcher of the Month award. The talented Radchickens hurler made 6 starts, worked 48.1 innings, permitted 43 base hits, and struck out 20 while putting up a 2.23 ERA. This season Stinson has compiled a 7-4 record with a 4.41 ERA in 14 starts. VRL In the Western Atlantic Division, the Vim! Factory Pops (Echo Lake) won over the Glowing Grove Brainiacs (National Park) by four games. The Rock Point Barnacles finished third and the Kitteredge Rad Rabbits finished fourth. In the Eastern Atlantic Division, the Fringe Cove Champions (Far Harbor) pulled out a three-game division win over the Huntress Island Ug-Qualtoths. The MS Azalea Shipwrecks finished third, and the Longfellow Pips finished fourth. In the Vim! Rookie Series, the Pops pulled out a 3-2 series win over Fringe Cove. Vim! Factory won the final game, 5-2. 1B Tim Cottrell of the Pops was named Series MVP. Cottrell was an undrafted rookie free agent signing out of West Dennis of the Cape Cod Youth League. July's outstanding offensive player in the VIM! Rookie League has been picked, and the honor goes to the MS Azalea first baseman Matt Mounthope. He won the award by batting .386, hitting 7 home runs, knocking in 21 runs and scoring 19 times. During his career, Mounthope has played in 118 games, batted .315 with 21 home runs and 82 base hits. When Elfy Startstop takes the mound, a Longfellow victory is usually the result. At least that's the way it was in July. He excelled with a 4-0 mark and a 0.89 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 20.1 innings, fanned 17 and held opposing batters to a .197 average. That's why the Pips starter was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the VIM! Rookie League. In his lifetime, the 23-year-old Startstop has won 14 and lost 9, piling up 173 strikeouts with a 4.88 ERA. Opponents have hit .278 against him. Player - Team - First Place - Total Points Flatlander Flanagan - Beaver Creek Bowlers - 8 - 40 Doc Harbormen - Cliff's Edge Wolves - 0 - 17 Joker Mariner - Beaver Creek Bowlers - 0 - 13 Updarode Apiece - Cliff's Edge Wolves - 0 - 1 Brian Lispy - Far Harbor Dockdwellers - 0 - 1 GDIL Reliever - Tony Kicker said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 15 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Pleasant Cove Raiders rising star has won the Great Diamond Island League Reliever of the Year Award for 2305. He captured the award on the strength of his 0.82 ERA over 22 innings. He also had no saves in 17 relief appearances, 24 strikeouts and only 5 walks. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Big Cat Vollmer of the Diamond Cove Fort Knights finished second in voting, while Bryce Lobster of the Pleasant Cove Raiders finished third. August 2305
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 7 August 2305 CBO Analysis All teams have now played 90 games, meaning we have hit the 75% mark of the season. It is safe to say that teams are who they are now that the trade deadline has passed. Speaking of trades, this season lacked in the number of trades, though there are a few trades we will look at and see what the impact may be. The biggest reason why there was not a lot of trading overall has a lot to do with the talent gaps throughout the CBO. Basically, the "haves" are loaded at the CBO level, while the "have nots" are loaded at the minor league level. That meant that teams looking to improve their championship chances had few prospects to offer to the teams trying to offload veterans. Supposedly, some teams tried to move players that other teams had nothing to offer without weakening another position group. This week, we'll break down the Power Rankings Top 5 in the league sections. Before that, let's look at the playoff rankings and major trades of July. NCA Playoff Rankings 1. Nordhagen Beach, 2. Sunshine Tidings, 3. Easy Town, 4. Concord, 5. County Crossing The Party Boys are the top seed in the North Charles Association, but they did not make any major roster moves. They are highly talented at the CBO level, so any moves may have been for additional bullpen help. However, there were no moves, so they are going with what they got. The Chemists were different, looking to improve their team been more for a Sole Survivor Series run. Sunshine Tidings acquired some additional power when they traded for LF David Seaweed from Salem. Seaweed has answered the call so far, hitting three home runs in eight games with the Chemists. The Assaultrons made one move, trading away up and coming talent, CF Voodoo Cerrano to Oberland for SP Charred Lee Widemore. A former 2nd-round pick by Atom in the 2300 Rookie Draft, Widemore struggled a bit with the T-51s in his first season. However, in two starts with Easy Town, Widemore has gone 2-0 with a 3.21 ERA. Like their Institute League rivals, the Radstags looked to gain some extra power, trading away four prospects to Spectacle Island for the rights to 1B Cody Flatt. In two starts so far with the Stags, Flatt is batting .250 with an RBI. County Crossing is another team that did not make any major moves, lacking in prospects that could help them. They also remember that they were the NCA champions a year ago and hope their team can find that magic again down the stretch. Starlight is currently the sixth seed in the playoff hunt, but they made perhaps the biggest splash, trading away top pitcher prospect Scott Fuhr, their 1st-round pick in the 2304 Rookie Draft to Diamond City for 1B Oren Gep. Gep has responded with his new squad, hitting .310 with four home runs and six RBI in eight games with the Lady Killers. For the season, he is batting .248 with 27 homers and 55 RBI. SCA Playoff Rankings 1. Roxbury, 2. University Point, 3. Jamaica Plain, 4. Egret, 5. Atom The Rad Sox made their biggest trade move earlier in July, obtaining star CF Ben Pawlak from Fort Hagen for top catcher prospect Sleve McDichael. In 22 games since joining the Sox, Pawlak has hit .302 with eight home runs and 28 RBI. For the season, Pawlak is hitting .273 with 13 homers and 57 RBI. The Deathclaws did not make much of a splash, but they did also acquire a former Silver Shroud player in RP John Walden. Walden has appeared in one game, pitching three innings for a victory and a 3.00 ERA. A third team that went to Fort Hagen to improve their team, Jamaica Plain made perhaps the most surprising trade for limited returns when they sent RF Actually Aucoin, a former 8th-overall pick in the 2304 Rookie Draft by Finch Farm, to the Shroud for the rights to 36-year-old RP Matt Demented. In two games with the Red Rockets, Demented has pitched 4.0 innings and has yet to give up a run. The Rockets also acquired 1B Kyle Wii, while Fort Hagen also received LF Steve Baron in the trade. Wii was also picked in the 1st round of the 2304 Rookie Draft. A fourth team gutting the Silver Shroud to improve? Egret may not have made a giant splash either, but the Ninjas acquired RP Midnight Flowers from the Shroud for a top prospect. Flowers immediately become the closer for Egret, and in 10 appearances, he has 6 saves, is 0-2, and has a 3.72 ERA. For the season, he is 0-2 with 6 saves and a 3.71 ERA. Atom was the busiest team during Trade Month, acquiring three players. Want to guess which team was their first trade partner? If you guessed Fort Hagen, you are right! The Shroud sent SS/2B Wally Warwick to the Cats for four prospects, including the 13th overall pick in the 2304 Rookie Draft, RF Trey Lickrock. In 15 games as a backup 2B in Atom, Warwick is hitting .250 with no homers and an RBI. The Cats also acquired SP Tristan Marble (0-1, 5.40 in 3 starts with Atom) from FHE and RP Rafe Sauce (4.50 ERA in 2.0 IP) from Lexington. Oberland won the Chase Doctorman sweepstakes, sending the NWL's Cherry Ghoulrillas five players, including three pitchers--Neil Persian, David Hill, and Old Buck Buchanan--that spent at least part of the season with the T-51s. Brotherhood League Nordhagen Beach (#3) leads the league by four games with a Magic # of 27 to clinch the BL. The Party Boys have the smallest league lead in the CBO with Easy Town (#5) possessing a tie for the CBO's fourth-best record. In the last two weeks, the Party Boys split with Sunshine Tidings (#7), won two of three at County Crossing (#8), split at Starlight (#13), and then swept The Slog (#22). Easy Town lost a game on the Boys, going 6-4 in their last 10. The Assaultrons were swept by the Lady Killers, won two of three at Finch Farm (#19), swept Fort Hagen (#21), and the won two of three over the Four Leafs. Institute League The Chemists went 6-4, as did Concord (#9) to remain one and two in the IL. Sunshine Tidings currently possesses a 7-game lead in the league and have a Magic # of 24. The Lady Killers, 11 games back of the Chemists and four games back of the Radstags, are the only other team with a realistic playoff chance. For Sunshine Tidings, they split at Nordhagen Beach, won two at Bunker Hill (#18), swept the Ghouls, and one one of three versus the Stags. Concord split at The Slog, swept the Killers, lost both at County Crossing, and then won two of three at the Chemists. Minutemen League University Point (#2) has mostly pulled away in this league, leading by 10 games with a Magic # of 21. Jamaica Plain (#6) holds just a two-game lead over Atom (#4) for the second slot in the ML. For the Deathclaws, they went 7-3 in their last 10, sweeping Vault 81 (#20), winning two of three at Spectacle Island (#17), split at Roxbury (#1), and then won two of three over the Reapers. The Rockets were also 7-3, sweeping Oberland (, sweeping Goodneighbor (#24), splitting at the Dwellers, and then winning just one versus the Gunners (#23). Atom was 8-2, splitting at the Rad Sox, sweeping Quincy who is the first team eliminated from the 2305 playoffs, splitting with FHE (#14), and then sweeping the Hancocks. Railroad League It is only a matter of time for the Sox to clinch the RL, leading by 24 games with a Magic # of 7. Realistically, they could clinch this week, though they have a tough road slate of University Point and Diamond City (#15). Egret continues to be the second team, though that lead is razor thin with both the T-51s and the Swatters close behind. Roxbury did increase their league lead in the last two weeks, going an RL-best 7-3 in the last two weeks to reach 70 wins on the season. The Sox split with the Cats, won two of three at Diamond City, split with the Claws, and then won all four against the Swatters in a weekend that featured a double-header from a previously postponed game. The Ninjas went 5-5 in their last 10, sweeping the Gunners, winning just one against the Dwellers, splitting at Goodneighbor, and then winning just one at Oberland. CBO Standings CBO Power Rankings CBO Players of the Week NCA July 31 - His teammates, fans, peers and even the BNN sportswriters all agreed that Mike Swift was worthy of the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award. During the week the Nordhagen Beach catcher compiled a .667 batting average (14-for-21) with no home runs, 2 runs batted in and scored 6 runs. This year Swift is hitting .326 with 1 home run. So far this season Murtagh has put up a .303 batting average with 106 hits, 27 home runs and 64 RBIs. SCA July 31 - When Waze Waiting stepped into the batter's box, he meant business. His outstanding play this week has netted the Diamond City right fielder the well-deserved South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. Playing in 5 games he lashed out a .435 average with 10 hits, 5 home runs, 9 RBIs and 8 runs scored. This year Waiting has 19 home runs and a .303 batting average. BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 7 August 2305 Draft Pool Revealed For would-be rookies, a list of whom was announced today by the league, the wait to find out whether or not they have been selected is excruciating. It's tough just getting a scout to notice you, to think you are worth investing an organization's future in. Then draft day arrives and you are snatched up by someone you might not have expected. Some will catch on big; others will be away from home for the first time and will struggle to gain a solid footing in the minors. Still others will battle through, gain that coveted footing and go on to have a solid professional career. League officials have made this information available for all clubs in a new section of the Transactions page. Teams now have a chance to scout the draft pool for 90 days before the draft is held. The early favorites to be high picks are the following: 1. Handel Alone, 17 year-old LF out of Chatham (CCYL). 2. Hondo Ohnaka, 17 year-old CF out of West Seekonk (PJPL). 3. Propellor Perimeter, 17 year-old 1B out of South Beach (BYDL). 4. Bat Limato, 18 year-old 3B out of Boston Harbor (BYDL). 5. Shmi Earthwalker, 17 year-old RF out of Provincetown (CCYL). 6. Pagetti Rook, 17 year-old RF out of Pawtucket (PJPL). 7. Root Beer, 17 year-old 2B out of South Beach (BYDL). 8. Artist Moody, 17 year-old 3B out of Provincetown (CCYL). 9. Pogo Cliffhanger, 17 year-old RF out of West Dennis (CCYL). 10. Pokey Chatman, 17 year-old RHP out of Pawtucket (PJPL). Other top prospects (in alphabetical order): C Kinsella Birdwatcher (Hester, BYDL), P Bucket Bill Brown (West Quincy, BYDL), SP Mister Burns (Needham, BYDL), 2B Wookie Chewbacca (West Seekonk, PJPL), 1B Elijah de Love (Castle, BYDL), LF Stan Friendlittle (111, BYDL), SP Clueless Gunsmith (Boston Common, BYDL), SP Blake Hubbard (Green Future, BYDL), 1B Shoe Kiesel (Boston Common, BYDL), LF Figgie Legendsport (Beer Thirty, BYDL), C Looselips Lopez (Wellesley, BYDL), RP Lick McTeer (West Seekonk, PJPL), SP Freak Mouton (Hope, PJPL), CF Leif Organa (Chatham, CCYL), LF Flavio Richy (Thompson Heights, BYDL), RF Gizmo Stripe (West Quincy, BYDL). If the draft were held today, this would be the non-playoff order: 1. Quincy 2. Goodneighbor 3. The Slog 4. Fort Hagen 5. Finch Farm 6. Vault 81 7. Bunker Hill 8. FHE 9. Lexington 10. Spectacle Island 11. Salem 12. Diamond City 13. Starlight 14. Oberland

2305 Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 17 August Tourists, Nukalurks to Meet in Nuka Series Both the Orange Tourists and the Quantum Nukalurks clinched their divisions to secure their spots in the Nuka Series with a chance to play in the Season Pass Association Series for the winner of the Nuka World League. The Tourists clinched the NWL's top record at 55-35, so they will host the Nukalurks (50-40) for Games 1 and 2 and 6 and 7 if necessary. Orange clinched their division by 13 games, while the Lurks won by just four over Grape. Orange is making its third trip to the playoffs in this 7th year of the NWL. Previosuly, they clinched the regular season title in 2301 and then finished second in 2302. However, they lost to Grape and Victory, respectively, in the Nuka Series in both of their previous trips. Quantum is making its second trip to the playoffs. In its only other appearance in 2300, the Nukalurks finished second in the regular season but defeated Cherry, 4 games to 3, to win the Nuka Series. In 2300, there was not yet a Season Pass Association Series. That was first played in 2301 when the Painted Ghouls topped the Far Harbor Ghoul Whales, four games to three. Overall, Orange was the top pitching team in the NWL, allowing a league-low 364 runs (71 runs fewer than the second-best team) while scoring 440 runs (6th). The top three pitches for the Tourists are Bull Johnson (11-7, 3.93), Allen Puckett (10-2, 2.95), and Matt Duty (9-8, 3.48). On offense, their top overall hitters were 3B Percent Lambert (.364/11/56), 1B Lackey Peterman (.330/15/44), and LF Tom Mastodon (.326/5/34/40 SB). Quantum was 4th in runs scored (452) and 2nd in runs allowed (433). The Nukalurks were led on offense by 1B Joe Ransom (.357/16/55), LF Jason Love (.314/20/67), 3B Steve Wallace (.309/9/40/65 SB), and CF Kell Leek (.320/9/64). Their three starters are Danny Cautious (14-5, 3.76), Smoker Caliman (8-8, 4.19), and Tanner Kern (5-9, 4.82). Closer Cousin Vinny (23 SV, 4.82) led the NWL in saves. This appears to be a good series. but we are going to take the Tourists to hold down the Quantum offense and win the series, 4-2. Amusement Park League The APL's Amusement Park Series is now complete with the Bradberton Disciples triumphing over the Dry Rock Gulch Gulpers, 4 games to 3. 2B Savoy Slurp of Bradberton was named the Series MVP, batting .406 (13/32) with two home runs and 12 RBI. Finals were Bradberton 9-6, Dry Rock Gulch 7-4, Bradberton 7-6, Bradberton 4-2, Dry Rock Gulch 6-4, Dry Rock Gulch 7-2, and Bradberton 18-7. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 17 August 2305 Dalton Farm and Far Harbor to Vim! Series The two teams that looked to be the best all season get to prove it in the Vim! Series. The Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers won the Fog Division with a record of 58-32. They finished best in the Vim! League in runs scored (520) and second in runs allowed (403). The Far Harbor Ghoul Whales won the Harbor Division with a record of 53-37. The Gwhales were 3rd in runs scored (481) and first in runs allowed (402). The Crawlers are led on offense by 3B Ryan Morris (.340/29/82), LF James Darling (.357/24/76), and SS Chris Huffsettler (.345/19/55). Their starters are Phil Cecil (13-7, 3.63), Kyle Hooch (11-4, 4.27), and Justin Wentworth (10-6, 5.58). CL George Hackey (24 SV, 4.99) leads the Vim! League;'s top bullpen. Far Harbor had a well-balanced offense with the top three hitters being CF Drew Buntrock (.331/15/57), LF Blu Funman (.330/9/37), and 1B Adam Crewmate (.341/7/44). The starting pitchers are Alex Ruder (13-5, 2.91), Keith Lighthouse (8-4, 4.02), and Noodle Green (12-9, 5.00). While we expect this one to be back and forth, we think that the Fog Crawlers will win the series in seven games. Mount Desert Island League The Nucleus Radchickens (50-40) and Oceanarium Oceanics (55-35) won their divisions to move on to the Mount Desert Island Series. The series will begin on August 19 in Oceanarium for a potential seven-game series. 1B Ken Roderick (.372/21/52) is the top player for the Radchickens, and LF Portfolio Michel (.357/25/79) is the top player for the Oceanics.

Hey, been a bit busy, sorry for not commenting. Liking the nuka world updates as I've said. While Orange (obviously) and Star Force are my favorites, I'd say Quantum are probably my 3rd favorite, so definitely like this matchup. I mean... it's probably basic of me, but the soda glows, I'm easily impressed, always liked those haha.

August 2305
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 21 August 2305 CBO Analysis We are 100 games into the season and there are now teams officially in the playoffs and teams officially out. We here at BNN still believe there are eight teams that can potentially be champions. Of course, seven of those teams would have to topple the Roxbury Rad Sox. That will be a tough task. Let's take a look at the Top 5. University Point is #1 with an 8-2 stretch in the last two weeks to move into a tie with the Rad Sox for the CBO's top record. The Deathclaws split with Roxbury (#2), swept Spectacle Island (#19), swept FHE (#17), and then won two against Quincy (#23). The Sox are #2 despite having just a 5-5 record in their last 10. Roxbury split with the Claws, won one of three at Diamond City (#11), swept Jamaica Plain (#5), and then won only one versus the Yao Guai. Easy Town barrels up to #3 with a five-game winning streak and a 9-1 record in their last 10 to move within two games of Nordhagen Beach (#4). The Assaultrons swept Fort Hagen (#20), won two at Finch Farm (#21), swept Bunker Hill (#18), and then swept The Slog (#22). As mentioned above, the Party Boys are #4 after going 7-3 in the last two weeks and maintaining a two-game lead for the North Charles Association's top record. The Boys split with Concord (#9), swept the Ghouls, split at the Silver Shroud, and then won two over County Crossing (#8). Jamaica Plain rounds out the Top 5 with the South Charles Association's third-best record and a 7-3 stretch in their past 10 games. The Red Rockets split with Egret (#10), swept the Gunners, lost two at Roxbury, and then swept Goodneighbor (#24). NCA Playoff Rankings 1. z-Nordhagen Beach, 2. Sunshine Tidings, 3. Easy Town, 4. Concord, 5. County Crossing There are no changes in the seeding from two weeks ago, and this mostly appears to be how things will finish unless the Trons can overtake the Boys for the NCA's top record. The only team officially eliminated from the playoffs is The Slog with the NCA's worst record. Fort Hagen may be eliminated this week, trailing Concord by 16 games for 2nd place in the Insttitue League with 20 to play. It would be the first time the Silver Shroud missed the playoffs in the full CBO. SCA Playoff Rankings 1. x-Roxbury, 2. z-University Point, 3. Jamaica Plain, 4. Egret, 5. Atom The SCA standings are also the same as two weeks ago, with Roxbury already clinching the Railroad League and University Point clinching a playoff spot. Both of the bottom teams in the SCA, Quincy and Goodneighbor, are eliminated, and Spectacle Island's elimination Magic # is 1. One more Cats victory or one more Reapers loss will make it official. Every team in the RL is technically still alive since Egret as the 2nd-place team only leads the two last-place teams, FHE and Vault 81, by nine games. Brotherhood League Nordhagen Beach (#3) still leads the league but now only by two games over Easy Town. The Party Boys' Magic # is 19 to clinch the BL and the NCA's #1 seed. Easy Town and County Crossing could both clinch playoff spots this week, but the Bloodbugs would need some help with a wildcard Magic # of 11. The Trons clinch a spot with any combination of a win or two and a Starlight loss or two. Institute League Sunshine Tidings has full control of this league with a 10-game lead and a Magic # of 11. Since April ended, the Chemists have gone 54-24 (.692), tops in the NCA and only second to Roxbury (58-20) in the four-month stretch. The Chemists are legitimate title contenders. Right now, they are 2nd in the NCA in runs scored (546) and 2nd in runs allowed (380). Once new acquisition, LF David Seaweed (.263/19/45), hits his next home run, the Chemists will have seven (!) players with 20 or more home runs: Seaweed, CF Ricky Ticky Laughy (30), SS Lernz Tentsleep (30), RF Baktu DaWell (28), 3B Ross Merchantman (24), C Red Sone (22), and 1B Bryan Assman (21). At 182 home runs as a team, Sunshine Tidings leads by 11 over the CBO's 2nd-best team (Nordhagen Beach, 171). Concord has appeared to take firm control of 2nd place and their chance to be the 4th seed in the playoffs. Both Starlight and Lexington could be in the running, but they need a combination of getting really hot in the last four weeks while the Radstags would have to go cold. Minutemen League University Point now has a Magic # of 10 to clinch the ML. That is not likely to happen this week, but it could happen in early September. The real push is to see which team out of Jamaica Plain and Atom earns the 3rd seed in the playoffs for the rights to play the 2nd seed. Both the Red Rockets and Cats are close to earning a spot in the playoffs with the Cats holding a Magic # of 9 to clinch at least the 5th seed. As mentioned before, the Reapers are a loss or Atom win away from being eliminated from the playoffs. Railroad League Roxbury is already the champions of the RL, and now they get to fight with University Point for which team will be the #1 seed in the playoffs. Every other team in the league is officially alive for a while since Egret and the two last place teams are only nine games apart. More than likely, though, the 2nd place race will come down to the Ninjas, Diamond City, and Oberland. If we had to choose, we would guess the Swatters would find a way to get there, though they were sellers this trade season. CBO Standings CBO Power Rankings CBO Players of the Week NCA August 14 - The Sunshine Tidings Chemists received word today that center fielder Ricky Ticky Laughy was selected North Charles Association Player of the Week for his stellar performance in last week's games. Laughy took full advantage of all 19 plate appearances last week as he hit .500 with 8 hits, 5 home runs, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored. This year Laughy has hit at a .268 clip with 73 RBIs, 29 home runs and 62 runs scored. August 21 - North Charles Association pitchers will attest that it was tough to get Zeldolph Violet of the County Crossing Bloodbugs out last week. His all-around performance at the plate made him the league's most recent Player of the Week. The 28-year-old first baseman boasted a .632 average with 4 home runs, 14 RBIs and 5 runs scored. Violet went 12-for-19 for the week. To date this year Violet is batting .320 with 31 home runs. SCA August 14 - This week's Player of the Week was Aesed Hayjen of the University Point Deathclaws. He bombarded South Charles Association pitching for 11 hits in 24 at-bats, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs while hitting .458 and scoring 9 runs. So far this season Hayjen is hitting .359 with 33 home runs. August 21 - End Yamada demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Vault 81 second baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .500 average (9-for-18) with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. For the year Yamada has hit at a .300 clip with 61 RBIs, 16 home runs and 40 runs scored. September 2305
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, GBRL, Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 September 2305 The September 1 Super Post CBO Players of the Month NCA Hitter - Maxx Murtagh battered North Charles Association pitchers all August and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award. "I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 28-year-old Murtagh told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 22 games, Murtagh hit .381 with 9 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 25 runs. Murtagh is batting .310 this season in 107 games with 32 home runs, 77 RBIs and 90 runs scored. He has 128 hits in 413 at-bats. NCA Pitcher - Question: Who was the #1 pitcher in the North Charles Association in August? Answer: That would be Terrence Artman of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. He excelled with a 5-0 mark and a 2.35 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 46 innings, fanned 27 and held opposing teams to a .173 average. That's exactly why the North Charles Association scribes voted him the Pitcher of the Month. So far this year Artman has a 11-7 record with a 3.61 ERA. NCA Rookie - Sun Crockett is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In August the Lexington hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .295 average with 23 hits, 6 home runs and 15 RBIs. During the current season Crockett is batting at a .270 clip with 21 home runs and 56 RBIs. He has played in 98 games and scored 56 times. SCA Hitter - In August, Young Goodman was the toughest out in the South Charles Association and that is the prime reason he was voted the Batter of the Month. The Roxbury right fielder rapped out 37 hits in 95 at-bats for a .389 batting average, hit 9 home runs, drove in 21 runs and scored 27 times. This season Goodman is swinging the bat at a .340 pace. He has hit 21 home runs and scored 89 times, while driving in 87. His on-base percentage is .437 and he has played in 107 games. SCA Pitcher - Deedee Martinson had an outstanding August -- so good that the South Charles Association presented him with the Pitcher of the Month Award earlier today. "There's no way to know where the Cats would be without Martinson," one fan is quoted as saying. In August Martinson dominated the competition, running up a 6-0 record, a 0.42 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 43 innings. This season Martinson has a 17-3 mark in 27 starts with a 2.54 ERA. He has given up 132 hits in 166.1 innings, struck out 109 and issued 43 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .220 batting average against him. SCA Rookie - Murray Bunts's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Diamond City first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In August he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .349 with 3 doubles, no triples and 5 home runs. Bunts also scored 15 times and drove in 18 runs. This season Bunts is batting at a .330 clip with 5 home runs and 18 RBIs. BMU Analysis The 2305 season is complete with the playoffs beginning. Division winners are the Everett Mutant Hounds (V81, Dark Hollow Pond), Union Hope Lifegivers (OBE, Cambridge), Trinity Plaza Snipers (EGR, Downtown Boston), and Somerville Place Sentry Bots (JP, Glowing Sea). While Commissioner Nate Howard and a few others are on a mission to eliminate a creature threat in the Commonwealth, there has not been recent news about the minor league changes. Speculation is that the BMU will drop down to what is called AA ball where it will be a part of a new formation in the CBO with three levels of minor leagues. A new league that will expand the borders of minor league baseball far beyond the Boston area is expected to be the AAA ball league where the players closest to being ready for the CBO will play. BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - The Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month has been picked for August and the honor goes to the Greentop Nursery Night People Don Erb. He compiled a .338 batting average with 24 hits and 14 home runs, along with 21 RBIs and 18 runs scored. Erb on the season is batting .332 with 41 home runs. His totals include 79 RBIs and 64 runs scored. He has played in 86 games. MA Hitter - When Justin Sauerkraut stepped up to the plate in August he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month award. The young Boston Common left fielder posted a .423 batting average with 22 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 27 runs. Sauerkraut also worked pitchers for 7 walks to post a .467 on-base percentage. Hitting .375 to date, Sauerkraut has 66 home runs and 108 RBIs. He has played in 84 games. CA Pitcher - The top-rated pitcher this past month in the Commonwealth Association was Randy Kaplan of the Everett Mutant Hounds. He really dominated league hitters, finishing August with a 5-1 won-lost mark and a 1.40 ERA. The Mutant Hounds ace made 6 starts and surrendered 34 hits in 45 innings. He struck out 16 and walked 11. Kaplan has fashioned a 7-3 mark for the season, 3.21 ERA and thrown 84 innings in 12 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .226 against him. MA Pitcher - The Massachusetts Association announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award for August. It went to Smelly Schmelzer of Somerville Place for his outstanding 5-0 record and 2.13 ERA. Schmelzer also chalked up 6 starts, 42.1 innings and 29 strikeouts. This year Schmelzer has fanned 121 in 150 innings and collected a 12-5 record with a 2.94 ERA. GBRL Analysis Division winners are the Clifton Vertibirds (SI) of the Northeast Division, the Covenant Refractors (V81) of the Northwest Division, the Castle Strength (QUI) of the Southeast Division, and the Beantown Brewers (EGR) in the Southwest Division. Winners in the North League play each other and winners in the South League play each other with the winners of those series meeting in the Rookie Series. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Bob Roth set the league afire in August and took home the North League Batter of the Month award. The Galleria third baseman posted a steady .351 batting average, 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 21 runs. Currently Roth is batting .341 with 8 home runs and 20 RBIs. SL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 21 Dan Sturtevant has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Big John Salvagers star can enjoy the numbers he put up in August, which have garnered him the nod as the South League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .365 average with 9 home runs, 16 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Currently Sturtevant is batting .315 with 24 home runs, 52 RBIs and 59 runs scored. NL Pitcher - When the Fortune Finders skipper wrote Fiona on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in August he took command and usually got the win. He dominated with a 4-1 mark and 2.66 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Fortune Finders star pitched 40.2 innings, fanned 37 and held opposing teams to a .158 average. For his excellent mound work Fiona was named the NL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. This year Fiona has made 22 starts, thrown 128.2 innings, fanned 112 batters and walked 58. His won-lost record is 8-6 with a 4.97 ERA. SL Pitcher - The elite pitcher this past month in the South League was Lott Dod of the Neponset Park Criticals. He stood head and shoulders above the rest, finishing August with an extraordinary 4-0 record and a 1.36 ERA. The Criticals star hurler made 6 starts and surrendered 24 hits in 46.1 innings. He struck out 54 and walked 18. This season to date Dod has a record of 10 wins and 4 losses with a 1.75 ERA, has appeared in 23 games and struck out 193 in 170 innings. BYDL Analysis The Boston Youth Series is complete with the Wattz Ups defeating the Castle Freedom, three games to two, to win in 2305. Both teams were in their first Boston Youth Series since the league became a part of the CBO in 2300. Previous winners were Boston Common (2300), Beerthirty (2301), Lynn Pier (2302), Spectacle Island (2303), and South Beach (2304). Junior 3B Mickey Halifax of the Ups was named the Series MVP. He was 8 for 18 (.444) with four home runs and nine RBI in the series, including hitting two in the 18-4 final to clinch the title. In the regular season, Halifax batted .384 with 22 home runs and 78 RBI. BYDL Players of the Year NR Hitter - The future looks extremely bright for Family Sam Partridge. At the age of 16, many players are still trying to find their way in Boston Youth Development League. Partridge has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the North Region Most Valuable Player Award. "I didn't expect to hit .416 this year, that's for sure," the right fielder said. The Boston Harbor Harborfellows star also put up a .503 on-base percentage this year, with 116 hits, 29 doubles, no triples, 30 home runs, 88 RBIs and 74 runs scored. He received 25 first place votes out of a possible 36. September 2305
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 4 September 2305 CBO Analysis The 2305 CBO season is down to its final 10 games. Eight of 10 playoff slots are filled with just the 2nd place teams in the Institute and Railroad leagues left to be determined. We'll break down how the playoffs may shake out, but first, here is the Top 5. Roxbury is back to the top both in the standings and Power Rankings after a 7-3 record in their last 10. The Rad Sox split at Jamaica Plain (#6), swept Egret (#10), split at Spectacle Island (#11), and won two over Vault 81 (#20). University Point is #2 going 5-5 in the last two weeks. The Deathclaws were swept by the Ninjas, won two at Goodneighbor (#24), swept Oberland (#14), and then won one against the Red Rockets. Sunshine Tidings is #3 despite having the third-best record in the North Charles Association. The Chemists went 8-2 in their last 10, sweeping Finch Farm (#16), sweeping Starlight (#15), getting swept by Easy Town (#4), and then sweeping Lexington (#18). Easy Town is #4 with a five-game winning streak but only a 5-5 record in their last 10. They are one-game back in the Brotherhood League heading into the final 10 games. The Assaultrons were swept by Concord (#9), were swept by County Crossing (#5), swept the Chemists, and then swept Nordhagen Beach (#7). The Bloodbugs complete the Top 5 after a 9-1 stretch and a four-game winning streak despite likely to be the 5th seed in the NCA playoffs. The Bugs swept Bunker Hill (#19), swept the Trons, split at the 75ers, and then swept The Slog (#23). NCA Playoff Rankings 1. z-Nordhagen Beach, 2. x-Sunshine Tidings, 3. z-Easy Town, 4. Concord, 5. z-County Crossing Four teams are in, though it would only be a guess right now how the top three seeds will end up. At the moment, the Party Boys hold the best record in the NCA, but being swept by Easy Town has put the final tally in jeopardy. 1B/SP Lannie Tykeson of the Assaultrons has looked every part as the CBO's top player. In the series versus the Boys, he went 2 for 5 with a home run, a run, and two RBI in a 6-0 win in Game 1. In Game 2, he started at pitcher, pitching 8.1 shutout innings with eight hits allowed, a walk, and five strikeouts in another 6-0 win. In Game 3, an 8-5 win in 11 innings, Tykeson was 4 for 6 with a double, a walk-off home run, two runs, and five RBI. Tykeson is the NCA leader in average (.367), OBP (.467), SLG (.660), OPS (1.127), Runs (97), OPS+ (181), and wOBA (.477). He is also 14-6 with a 3.72 ERA on the mound. SCA Playoff Rankings 1. x-Roxbury, 2. z-University Point, 3. z-Jamaica Plain, 4. Egret, 5. z-Atom The SCA standings have not changed in a while for the playoff spots. University Point may have fallen behind Roxbury for the #1 seed, but they are at one for their Magic #. Egret has a four-game lead over Oberland with 10 to play to earn the 4th seed and a likely quick exit from the playoffs. Diamond City and FHE are six behind. The Ninjas control their own destiny to earn that fourth spot with a trip to Atom, at home versus the Swatters, a home stand against Goodneighbor, and then a trip to Diamond City. The T-51s are the closest but have a tough final schedule with a trip to Jamaica Plain, a three-game set against FHE, at home against Atom, and then a trip to Roxbury to complete the season. Brotherhood League Nordhagen Beach and Easy Town get to settle which team deserves the 2305 BL title with a weekend series this week. The winner of the series could have firm control over being the #1 seed in the NCA, or Sunshine Tidings can slip past both. The Party Boys and Chemists also square off this week. That means this week is like a mini-playoff in the NCA. Next week, the Party Boys travel to Fort Hagen and The Slog, the two bottom teams in the NCA. The Assaultrons will travel to Lexington and then host Salem to close out the season. While the Bloodbugs have the easiest slate to close out the season--vs the Synths, versus Finch Farm, at Concord, and at the Four Leafs--they are pretty far behind and probably cannot catch either the Boys or Trons. Institute League Sunshine Tidings has clinched the IL but are still fighting to try to move into the top seed. With their last three series versus Bunker Hill, versus the Witch Hats, and then at the Silver Shroud, we are now predicting that the Chemists will indeed finish as the NCA's top seed and have home-field advantage in the NCA playoffs. Despite a slow start, Sunshine Tidings has been the best all-around team in the NCA. They are 2nd in runs scored (603) and 1st in runs allowed (405) with the 2nd-best Starters ERA (3.50) and best Bullpen ERA (3.17). The acquisition of ace Eugene Gym (14-6, 3.42) has been a boon to success, and SP Terrence Artman (12-7, 3.54) was the best pitcher in August. As we mentioned before, the Chemists were one home run short of having seven players with 20 or more. Now, they have accomplished that with three--CF Ricky Ticky Laughy (.258/34/85), SS Lernz Tentsleep (.282/33/75), and RF Bakty DaWell (.317/30/80)--having over 30. Sunshine Tidings now has 202 homers as a team. This team is loaded! Concord's Magic # is 1 to clinch the 4th seed. We expect that to happen this week. Minutemen League University Point is about to clinch the ML, so the only other race is between the Red Rockets and Atom. It did not help the Cats to get swept by Spectacle Island last week, but the Rockets do not have an easy conclusion to the season. Jamaica Plain faces Oberland and the Deathclaws this week, and they travel to Roxbury and Quincy next week. Atom may have an easier path, though three games is a lot to catch up on in the next two weeks. The Cats face Egret and Quincy this week and then travel to Oberland and University Point next week. Railroad League We broke down this league's race for 2nd place up above. There really is not much else to state other than a comparison of run differences between the teams. Egret is 7th in runs scored (513) and 6th in runs against (487). The T-51s are 8th in runs scored (511) and 7th in runs against (508). Diamond City is 5th in runs scored (534) and 10th in runs against (589). Finally, the Yao Guai are 9th in runs scored (500) and tied for 4th in runs allowed (473). CBO Standings CBO Power Rankings CBO Players of the Week NCA August 28 - All week long nobody could get Babs Rooth out in the North Charles Association and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week. Rooth is currently batting .316 with 26 home runs and 86 RBIs. September 4 - This week's standout performer in the North Charles Association was third baseman Ross Merchantman of the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. He belted out a .722 average and was voted the Player of the Week. Over the last week Merchantman collected 13 hits in 18 at-bats and 3 home runs, drove in 8 runs and scored 5 times. This season Merchantman is batting .282 with 28 home runs. SCA August 28 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Diamond Ball, the Spectacle Island Reapers 21-year-old second baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 11 hits in 22 at-bats, compiling a .500 average with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs. For the season Ball has hit .344 with 30 home runs and 64 RBIs. He has played in 105 games and scored 91 times. His eyes would light up when he came to the plate and he hit everything in sight, batting .455 for the week to win the SCA Player of the Week Award. The Spectacle Island first baseman cracked 10 hits in 22 at-bats, 5 home runs, drove in 8 runs and scored 7 times.
