B harper goes to
Phillies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By Jeff Todd | February 28, 2019 at 1:52pm CDT
1:57pm: Harper’s deal sets a new record, as Bowden first suggested. It’s a $330MM value over thirteen years, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com (Twitter links), with no opt-outs included. 1:52pm: The Phillies have agreed to a deal with star outfielder Bryce Harper, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network (Twitter link). The sides are hammering out the opt-out details, per Jim Bowden of The Athletic (Twitter links). Otherwise, it seems this agreement is set to be completed upon review of a physical. More to come … Last edited by cheech411; 02-28-2019 at 03:04 PM. |

Fellow photo hounds,
I have a large collection of postcard size photos, mostly taken by Mel Baily a southern California based photographer, of SF Giants players at spring training, LA, Anaheim, Phoenix, and San Diego. There are also a few Brace's and McCarthy's in there as well. I am willing to post many of these on here if people are interested. A few have previously been posted over the years, but I am not willing to check each one for previous posting... |

SF Giants
To bobb49: Would appreciate photos of the following two San Francisco Giants if they happen to be in your collection and appearing in Giants uniforms-- Chris Bourjos, OF 1980 Giants and Colin Wood, P 1985 Giants.

This photo of Baker is from the Library of Congress website. Alternatively, you could visit the Baseball Hall of Fame website and choose his photo from there, or use Google Images to select from a host of Home Run Baker photos.

Chet Lemon 1975
Loved seeing Chet Lemon featured in today's TV release in his A's uniform. Lemon was the A's 1st rounder out of HS in California in 1972 and was moving his way up the ladder before he was traded to the White Sox in 1975 *An absolute steal for the White Sox as they gave up Stan Bahnsen and Skip Pitlock (never pitched again in MLB) for Lemon and lefty Dave Hamilton. Lemon would go onto play in Chicago through 1981 while appearing in 2 All Star Games.
These pics are from 1975 ST |

Chris Bourojus
This is Bourjos from spring training in 1980...There was a Colin Ward with the Giants in that great 1985 team...I assume that is who you mean as opposed to Ted Wood, an outfielder. I will send Ward separately.

Steve Whitaker
Sorry, nothing in color, but this is a fantastic team issued photo of Whitaker, that I am sure one of our talented members can colorize.

Hello all
Since the Vault auction site was closed off to us in June, 2017, I follow the eBay listings pretty regularly, but have had a number of lapses. Is there anyone here who'd be kind enough to share a list of what's been released since June, 2017? Folders KH and MK were the active ones at the time of the shutdown, I believe. If you would prefer not to post it here, of course you can send me a private message and I'll send you an email address. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you. Chet Covingon - LHP - 1944 Phillies
Chester 'Chet' Covington was was strictly a war-time replacement player. He was with the 1944 Philadelphia Phiilies for about half the season. Covington split the year between the AA/Eastern League/Utica Blue Sox where he He went 10-11 as a starting pitcher and the major leagues with the Phillies where he went 1-1, 4.66 E.R.A. in 19 games (all in relief, no starts) over 38.2 Innings Pitched in his only shot at the major leagues.

Tony Taylor's Quest for Career Hit # 2,000
When Tony Taylor returned to the Phillies for the 1974 season after 2 1/2 seasons with the Detroit Tigers he had 1,955 career hits. Over the course of the next two seasons most of his hits were delivered as a pinch hitter. He finally reached the 2,000 milestone on September 27, 1975 at age 39 on the next-to-last day of the season when he singled off the N.Y. Mets' George Stone, in a rare start as the Phillies second baseman. The next day in the 1975 season finale he delivered one more pinch hit "for good measure" to finish the season with 2,001 hits. Injured most of the 1976 season, he was 6 for 25 (.240) in his career swan song to finish his 19-year career (1958-1976) with 2,007 hits, a .261 career batting average, 15 of his 19 seasons in his beloved Philadelphia and his only all-star game appearance in 1960 where he went 1 for 1 (as a Phillie).
Tony Taylor celebrated his 83rd birthday on December 19, 2018. (The Photo is from a 1975 Phillies Scorecard). Last edited by MorganMiller1926; 03-14-2019 at 01:30 AM. |

Paul Dade
I've been looking for some time, and this is the first color image I've been able to find of Mr. Dade as an Indian in the 1978-79 Cleveland uniform he wore before heading to the Padres. This and another are on eBay in the TV presently.
