CIN Reds 5
NY METS 8
Citi Field

The Mets grabbed the early lead, the Reds took it from them, then the Mets got it back for the win!
Noah Syndergaard did not have his best tonight as he gave up 5 runs on 7 hits.
But it was enough as the Mets lineup did its job.
Kenley Jansen got his 11th save.
Bryce Harper and Buster Posey had 3 hits for the game.
Josh Donaldson hit his 3rd HR for the Mets and Mike Trout hit his 30th of the year.
We take the 1st game of this three game set and honestly, I want them all versus the Reds!

Clayton Kershaw didn't get as much run support as he usually gets, but he didn't need it.
He was in the zone going 8 and only giving up 6 hits.
Aroldis Chapman came in and got his 14th save.
Josh Donaldson smacked his 4th HR as a met and Freddie Freeman clobbered his 18th of the year.
We win the series over CIN and will try to sweep tomorrow.
We have now won 10 in a row!

Have to admit, the Reds made it tough all series long, but we complete the sweep.
Stephen Strasburg goes 6 and gives up 3 runs on 6 hits.
The bullpen did bend but did not break as Aroldis Chapman got his 15th save of the season.
It was Giancarlo Stanton who earned today's Golden Bat going 2-4 with 3 RBIs.
We have won 11 in a row and we have tomorrow off before traveling to South Beach to play the MIA Marlins.

Series Preview: MIA Marlins @ Marlins Park (3-Games)

We begin a 9-game road trip and our first 3 games are versus the Marlins.
The Marlins always play stingy against us.
JT Realmuto and Lewis Brinson can provide the Fish some spark at the plate.
Dan Straily is the ace of this staff.
I feel we should come away with another sweep, but we know what the AI can do versus my Mets.
Sale, Kluber and Syndergaard are the weekend pitchers.

Not surprised that the Marlins end our 11-game winning streak.
Chris Sale only gave up 2 runs on 8 hits, but the Mets once again, do not give him any run support.
Buster Posey had 2 hits tonight as the lineup was handcuffed by MIA pitching.
The AI gave me no help in this one.

Corey Kluber gets the run support that Chris Sale didn't get yesterday.
He goes 6 innings and gives up a run on 7 hits.
The Mets lineup got some revenge on the Marlins in this one.
Josh Donaldson hits 2 HRs, his 5th and 6th as a Met and Jose Altuve got his 17th HR also.
Donaldson gets the Golden Bat for a 4-4 night, 2 HRs and 3 RBIs.
Everyone in the lineup got a hit tonight.
Take that you cheating AI!

We lose the series to the lousy Marlins. (AI CHEATS!)
Noah Syndergaard had an awful day, giving up 5 runs on 10 hits.
Mike Trout had two hits including his 31st HR.
Gary Sanchez hit his 13th of the year.
No excuse to lose this series, but the AI got some payback on me for yesterday. (AI CHEATS!!)
We have the day off tomorrow before heading to Camden Yards for a series with the O's.

This Week in Baseball---MLB

We are off to an 8-2 start for August with both losses coming at the hands of the Marlins.
Josh Donaldson is on a tear since coming to the Big Apple.
Corey Seager hasn't had much playing time since I use Carlos Correa versus LHP.
But he will get it, no doubt.

Lets look at the League:
ALE: TOR has gotten close again to BOS, only 2.5 GB.
ALC: The MIN Twins still got a nice clutch on this division, but the CLE Indians are giving up yet.
ALW: The Rangers, Angels, Astros and Athletics will play till the end it looks like.
NLE: The NY METS still lead and could clinch this division by week's end.
NLC: The Cubs are in firm command, but STL has gotten back to .500.
NLW: The LAD are getting some distance between SD and ARZ.

Series Preview: BAL Orioles @ Camden Yards (2-Games)

Im not going to say much here except that we had better beat the Orioles with a vengeance after losing the last series to the Marlins.
Kershaw and Strasburg are on the mound for these two games.

BAL Orioles 2
Camden Yards

Clayton Kershaw had it going tonight, going 6.1 and giving up 2 runs on 7 hits.
Ken Giles gets his 6th save of the year.
The Orioles played tough, but thanks to a big hit by Buster Posey, we managed to win this one and get back to doing what we do best.
Posey was 1-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
He gets the Golden Bat!

Again, the Orioles play tough but we get the win.
Stephen Strasburg gives up 2 runs on 5 hits through 7.
Luis Severino gets his 2nd save, although the bullpen, namely Max Scherzer almost gave it away.
Jose Altuve went 3-4 with a run scored.
But it was Freddie Freeman with a big HR in the 8th, his 19th of the year that really made a big impact.
Josh Donaldson hits his 40th HR of the year and his 7th with the Mets.
We sweep the O's and now prepare for a long weekend series with the Phillies.

Series Preview: PHI Phillies @ Citizens Bank Park (4-Games)

A 4-game series with the Phillies is what's next on the schedule.
Our magic number is down to 6 so we could clinch during this series if ATL loses a few.
The Phillies have always been a thorn in our side and I expect this set of 4 games to be no different this weekend.
Sale, Kluber, Syndergaard and Kershaw get the starts for this very interesting set of games.

Chris Sale was in the zone as he went 6.2 and gave up only 3 hits.
The bullpen closed out the game, but another rough outing for Max Scherzer, who gave up the 3 runs to the Phillies.
Josh Donaldson hit his 8th HR for the Mets, 42nd overall.
He gets the Golden Bat for the night.
Altuve, Seager, Harper and Posey all had two hits tonight.
A nice win to start off this long series.

The CHC lost Tyler Chatwood for the year.
That will hurt during the Postseason.

Just absolute embarrassment of the poor Phillies.
Corey Kluber gives up 2 hits.
The Mets lineup blows up.
Bryce Harper hits 2 HRs, his 33rd and 34th.
Jose Altuve led off the game with his 18th HR.
Mike Trout hits his 32nd.
Altuve goes 5-6 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored!
He gets the Golden Bat!
If people didn't think I would have fun managing games like this with this kind of lineup at the start of this season, boy are they wrong!

Another rough outing by Noah Syndergaard, who gives up 6 earned runs on 9 hits.
Might have to bench his next start.
Bryce Harper hits his 35th HR and Giancarlo Stanton hits his 26th.
The Mets did have their chances, but the pitching just wasn't there today.
It will be up to Kershaw to win this series versus PHI tomorrow.
