Minor leaguer Pedro Damian has decided to retire.

He got as high as AAA with Colorado and signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays after sitting out most of the year.

Alex Burgos left the game early with a sore ankle but the Toronto bullpen picked up where he left off, beating the Astros 3-1.

Armando Castillo homered for the Jays.

Burgos' ankle injury didn't seem serious. He may or may not pitch the final game of the season.

The Astros scored four times in the top of the 10th but the Blue Jays would not lay down! They scored SEVEN times in the bottom of the 10th, including a walk-off home run by Armando Castillo!

Toronto won 11-8

Larry Johnson went 3 for 5 with a home run and two doubles. Wilin Rosario and Jose Deleon also homered.

Mike Robison came into this game without a big league hit this year. His second hit of the game and the season was a 12th inning, walk-off home run to give the Jays a 4-3 win over the Astros.

Armando Castillo also homered for Toronto.

Carlos Martinez led the Blue Jays to a 6-0 win over the A's in the penultimate game of the regular season.

There is only one Playoff race left, and the Blue Jays are in position to play spoilers! The A's trail the Rangers by one game in the AL West. If the Rangers lose and Oakland wins there will be tiebreaker game.

Toronto is going to try to stop that.

A couple of our minor leaguers are retiring.

Ryan Verdugo played int eh majors for six years for six different teams, with the most appearances coming with the Nationals.

He came to the Blue Jays in a trade with the Royals in 2015 and was taken by the Missions in the 2016 Expansion Draft. He signed a minor league contract with Toronto early this season but could not make it back to the Majors.

Geisel De La Cruz never got past AAA. He joined the Jays' organization originally in a the trade that brought Desmond Jennings from Tampa Bay in 2017. In 2018 he was traded to the Cubs in the deal that brought Tom Murphy back.
He signed a minor league contract with the Jays earlier this month but was immediately injured and has decided that he has had enough.

Alex Burgos helped the Jays end their season on a high note, while eliminating the A's from the play-offs with a 3-0 victory.
