Walkers news: Dec. 8 -- St. Louis lands second baseman Becerra in trade with Springfield
The St. Louis River Walkers have acquired 30-year-old second baseman Daniel Becerra from the Springfield Railers in exchanges for 25-year-old starting pitcher Wilson Lara, 25-year-old minor-league catcher T.J. Darr and 24-year-old minor-league outfielde Preston Coleman.
Becerra is regarded a top-level defender, who has yet to get a real chance to excel in the majors despite being considered a high-level prospect. In 2030, Becerra got into 119 games, 41 starts, during which he batted .205 with five homers and 18 RBIs. Lara is the big name going to Rockford. He spent much of 2030 in the River Walkers rotation, going 11-9 with a 4.13 ERA in 29 starts. T.J. Darr is primarily a catcher, who has done some pitching, he batted .342 with no home runs and 27 RBIs in 48 games for AA Springfield in 2030. His defensive skills, however, are considered below average. Coleman played at high-A Palm Beach in 2030, batting .244 with one homer and 28 RBIs. |
