After taking 2 out of 3 against Windy City, St Louis came home and took 2 out of 3 from the Motor City Machines, starting the month of June out with a 4-2 record.

Next up a 3-game home series against the best team in the West, the Monterrey Monsters.

Once again, the Shires take 2 out of 3 games, moving to 6-3 in the month.

I finally got around to updating StL's logo, so it's (1) with the theme of the other logos and (2) doesn't look like a page from a little girls coloring book.

After taking 3 of 4 from divisional opponent, Kansas City, the Shires head to San Diego for a series between 1st place teams (StL tied for 1st with Oklahoma).

You ever make a trade, then shortly after start thinking "well, that was dumb."?

This, for me, is one of those trades.

Here's the logic ...

1. After a couple of relief meltdowns by Musgrove, I was ready to demote him to 3A and recall SP Brayan Bello to take his place in the pitching staff.

2. Musgrove is a FA at the end of the season, and a veteran .... not the type of player that a team demotes typically.

3. So, I "shopped" him, and there predictably wasn't much to offer in return for 4 months of a rental player, not having a good season.

4. The one piece I did see that was interesting at the time was Paul Goldschmidt, a StL favorite.

5. I was hoping to gain an increase in leadership and fan interest (neither happened).

6. Tommy White, the homer or nothing, 1B callup has actually been pretty decent. I expected him to just be a bunch of K's and a couple of HR .... but he's performed better than that. Goldschmidt was viewed as "1B/DH insurance" (not that great insurance, I concede).

7. Both Musgrove and Goldy are FA at the end of the season, so one under performing rental for another.

I guess, in the end, the trade is alright, and likely realistic. Georgia has been a good trade partner, and Hodge and now Musgrove start in their rotation, with Hodge being their highest rated SP.

IF Christian Moore is ready to return from the IL, but production from Ornelas and White have relegated Moore to 3A.

I've often felt that Game Score should be more popular; that's it's a total value that everyday fans could actually embrace and easily understand.

That the game score roughly coincides with the % of the time the team wins the game with that's pitcher's production is pretty cool.

Out of curiosity, I started charting my SP's game scores, and then used the color coding from the OOTP scheme to visualize it even more.

Blue = 70+
Green = 50-69
Orange = 30-49
Red = <30

St Louis blows the doors off Minnesota, 10-, in game 1 of the series, and then gets handled the next two games, losing the series at Minnesota.

GAME 76

RP Bryana Abreu gives up back to back HR in the 8th, Silverback errors lead to a walk off hit by Palacios
GAME 77

Now it's Nola's turn to give up back to back home runs, and the hits just kept coming as San Diego scores 5 in the 3rd and the Shires never recover.
GAME 78

Quote:
Aldegheri continues the start to his amazing rookie season. Anthony hit 20 HR in '25, 11 in '26, and just hit his 18th in '27 ... in 78 games.

After winning the series vs 1st place San Diego, StL battles another 1st place, team, the best team in the East (25, 26, and 27), the Montreal Mounties.

Quote:
Lewis worked of out some early jams with help from the defense, and Abreu worked some magic in the 9th, but the Shires win game 1.

Quote:
Excellently pitched game between 2 of the game's top arms. Rushing took Webb deep in the 7th. With runners at 2nd and 3rd, Gonzalez walked, setting the table for DeLatuer .... and he ate, with a 2-run double the give StL the lead in game 2.

Quote:
StL got up early, scoring 3 in the 1st inning. Scherzer was cruising, looking like he was on his way to throw a "Maddux" with all the early, routine contact. But, in the 4th, Nimmo got to Mad Max with a 2 run job, another run, and he got out of the inning, leaving the bases loaded.

In the 4th inning, the team got, what has become their signature to announce a rally is coming .... the leadoff double. The hit kept coming and StL pulled ahead 4-3. Montreal scored in both the 8th and 9th, but rarely used RP Doval was able to come in and get the final 2 outs ... completing the sweep and successful run through the Month From Hell.
