Red Schillings 1922
Quote:
P.S. Red Schillings' Sporting News contract card confirms that he was released from the Tulsa minor league team to the Springfield (MO) minor league team (Western Association) in May, 1928, and then he was released from Springfield in June, 1928. https://digital.la84.org/digital/col.../124810/rec/10 Last edited by Cusick; 04-06-2020 at 09:51 AM. Reason: Revise to make correction that he played for Springfield vice Independence and add P.S. |

Aaron Flores
Here is a switch southpaw who first pitched in the Pirates organization in the late 50's and later had a solid career in the Mexican league.

In case there's a desire to have Mains pictured in a major league uniform, this 1898 Cameo Pepsin pin depicts him with the Boston National League team. It was sold by robertedwardsauctions.com .

Ollie Brown Astros
White Whales occasionally beach themselves.
That's a terrible metaphor, but you never know when something turns up you haven't seen before. That would be this, a rare photo of Ollie Brown during his very brief stint with the Astros. Ollie was not purchased by the Astros until March 28th in the spring of '74. He played in only 27 games when he was placed on waivers by the Astros, to be claimed by the Phillies -- for whom he played his final 3 1/2 seasons. This came from an original Kodak snapshot that was sold on eBay. Last edited by Home Free; 04-15-2020 at 12:01 AM. |
