Cards news: Nov. 10 -- Arthur Johnson hired as hitting coach
The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the signing of Arthur Johnson as their hitting coach. He places Peter Fatse, who was with the team for the final 110 games of this season.
The change basically was based on coaching philosophy as Johnson is more of a neutral coach while Fatse emphasis contact.
The Cardinals batted .257 after the hiring of Fatse and went 65-55, but still finished the season next-to last in runs scored in the National League with 661.
Their home run total of 139 also ranked 14th.
The Cardinals had gone 17-25 and hit .229 in their time under Demetrius Beverly.
Despite hitting much better average wise under Fatse, the team only moved up one spot in runs scored by the time the season ended.
Johnson, 61, has coached the past four seasons with the Baltimore Orioles Class A affiliate the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.
The Blue Claws only hit .243 last season but had hit better than .270 the previous two.

Cards news: Nov. 11 -- Correy Davisson is new Cardinals pitching coach
The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the hiring of Corey Davisson as their pitching coach. He replaces Matt Lawrence, who retired at the conclusion of the 2032 season.
Davisson, 44, has spent the past five seasons as the pitching coach of the New York Mets' AAA affiliate the Norfolk Tides.
Lawrence, 61, spent three seasons in St. Louis with 2032 being his best campaign as the Cardinals finished with a team ERA of 3.98.
