June 2308
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 June 2308 The June Super Post, Part 2 BMU Analysis Like the MML, there is only one division not tight: the Dark Hollow Pond League where Taffington Boathouse (Egr) leads by eight games. In the Cambridge League, Mystic Pines (Obe) leads by a game. Suffolk County (ST) and Neponset Park (Sal) are tied at 20-12 in the Downtown Boston League. Mass Pike (Slog) and Forest Grove (FtH) are tied at 23-9 in the Glowing Sea League. BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 21 Nate Ransom has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Mystic Pines Raybathers star can enjoy the numbers he put up in May, which have garnered him the nod as the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .373 average with 8 home runs, 24 RBIs and 18 runs scored. MA Hitter - Zero Nought made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Massachusetts Association this past month. The Somerville Place Sentry Bots third baseman shined through the month of May and has won the Batter of the Month award. The 19-year-old hit .475 with 12 home runs, 30 RBIs and 22 runs scored. CA Pitcher - Kareem Leroyson had an outstanding May -- so good that the Commonwealth Association presented him with the Pitcher of the Month Award earlier today. "There's no way to know where the Raybathers would be without Leroyson," one fan is quoted as saying. In May Leroyson dominated the competition, running up a 4-1 record, a 2.29 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 39.1 innings. MA Pitcher - High Pockets Muse of the Tricentennials bewildered opposing batters in May and was honored as the Massachusetts Association Pitcher of the Month earlier today. The Mayoral Shelter starter sparkled last month with a 4-0 record and 1.82 ERA. He made 4 starts, tossed 29.2 innings and had 17 strikeouts. GBRL Analysis Like the MML and BMU, there is only one division where a team has a huge lead. That is in the Southeast Division where the Park Street AntAgonizers (Sal) have a nine-game lead. Other division leaders are Med-Tek (Quin) by a game in the Northeast, Nuka Express (Star) by a game in the Northwest, and Pioneer Park (FtH) by a game in the Southwest. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - When Weston DeGurlz stepped up to the plate in May he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the North League Batter of the Month award. The young Med-Tek left fielder posted a .400 batting average with 6 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 20 runs. DeGurlz also worked pitchers for 15 walks to post a .500 on-base percentage. SL Hitter - Jericho Cane has a lot going for him. The Pioneer Park shortstop just broke into the majors this year and now the South League has just picked him as its top hitter for May. In 20 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .487 with 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and 22 runs scored. NL Pitcher - Silk Inflosse is the latest North League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Med-Tek starter stood out on the hill time and again last month and finished May with a sparkling 5-0 record. In 5 starts last month, he fanned 42, walked 13 in 37.2 innings and posted a 1.67 ERA. Inflosse held opposing teams to a .154 batting average when he was on the mound. SL Pitcher - No doubt about it! Park Street starter David Lunchtime earned his South League Pitcher of the Month award. He made that very clear as he mowed his way through league hitters in May. During the month Lunchtime chalked up a 5-0 record with a 1.66 ERA. The AntAgonizers star made 5 starts and surrendered 26 hits in 43.1 innings. He struck out 39 and walked 6. BCAC Analysis In the first season of the BCAC, there are only two of eight teams above .500: Northeastern University and Boston College, both at 24-16 in the South Division. In the North Division, Bunker Hill University has the lead at just 20-20. One-time North Division leader, Tufts University, now has the BCAC's worst record at 17-23. This week, the BCAC will reach its midway point on its 86-game schedule, and then have the All-Star Break next week. BCAC Players of the Month BCAC Hitter - Izzy Brown really put on a show in May, earning the Batter of the Month Award in the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference! The CIT left fielder batted .420 with 7 home runs, 22 RBIs, 22 runs scored, along with 16 walks to compile a .505 on-base percentage. Brown has collected 57 hits for the Engineers this year, 10 of them home runs. He has also netted 29 RBIs and scored 34 runs while batting .422. BCAC Pitcher - An outstanding 6-0 record in May earned Alley Cat Preciado the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference. When his name was penciled in to start on the CIT lineup card, it meant trouble for opposing teams. In 38.1 innings of work, Preciado limited opposing batters to 29 base hits and a .207 batting average. He notched 27 strikeouts, issued 9 walks and had a 1.64 ERA. This year Preciado has 7 wins and 3 losses and a 3.88 ERA. BYDL Analysis Twenty-seven games into the 2308 season, here are the divisional leaders: Franklin - Beantown 17-10 Emerson - Covenant 15-12 Fuller - CIT Academy 19-8 Revere - Danvers 14-13 Adams - Needham 18-9 Alcott - Castle 21-6 Morse - South Beach 17-10 Attucks - Spectacle Island 18-9 BYDL Players of the Month NR Hitter - 111 Iceboys fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in May. Naga Arakaki put up a remarkable month at the age of 15 and has been named the North Region Batter of the Month. For the month, Arakaki hit .337 with 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and 25 runs scored. SR Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Yanto Chase set the league afire in May and took home the South Region Batter of the Month award. The Hester third baseman posted a steady .429 batting average, 11 home runs, 28 RBIs and 31 runs. NR Pitcher - Hoop Err really tore up the North Region this past month. He went 5-1 in May and won the Pitcher of the Month award. In 8 starts he struck out 53 in 50.1 innings with a 1.61 ERA. SR Pitcher - It was a sensational May for Raymond Maarloeve as he mystified, mesmerized and terrorized opposing batters to capture the South Region Pitcher of the Month trophy. Maarloeve locked down a 4-0 mark in 7 starts last month, striking out 50 while walking 15 in 46.1 innings and posting a 2.14 ERA. SCYL Analysis Teams have played 29 games so far. Here are the division leaders: Cape Cod Bay - Truro 21-8 Nantucket Sound - Nauset Beach 21-8 Seekonk River - Woodlawn 20-9 Narragansett Bay - New Bedford and Seekonk 16-13 SCYL Players of the Month CCL Hitter - At only 14 years of age, Huge Hugh Testerman could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Dennis Menaces, as May was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the Cape Cod League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .413 with 13 home runs, 31 RBIs and 33 runs scored. PL Hitter - Trog Alderod may be much younger than other hitters in the Providence League, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in May to win the Batter of the Month award. The 15-year-old Seekonk second baseman hit .330 with 11 home runs, 35 RBIs and 23 runs scored. CCL Pitcher - Kevin Gauzeman of Truro had an outstanding May with a 6-1 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Cape Cod League. He topped off the month with a 2.48 ERA in 8 starts, tossed 61.2 innings, fanned 78 and held opposing teams to a .250 average. PL Pitcher - Last month was a very successful month for Jared Porch of Freeplat. So successful that he has been honored as the Pitcher of the Month in the Providence League. Porch shut down league hitters in fine fashion, rounding out May with an impressive 5-2 mark and 2.61 ERA in 8 starts with 52 strikeouts in 51.2 innings.

![]() I also had a thought... The similarity to the stars of the Fallout show to the new Star Wars (Episodes 7-9). I can't unsee it now: Lucy = Rey - Girl with skills but isolated from the "real world" Maximus = Finn - Rogue soldier Ghoul = Kylor Ren - Battling with inner turmoil of good vs evil

2308 Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 June 2308 Quantum, Orange Lead Early Charge The Quantum Nukalurks and the Orange Tourists have early leads in their respective divisions in the Nuka World League after a month of play. The Nukalurks are finding ways to win games despite only being 4th in runs scored (114) and last in runs allowed (121). A few standout players for the Nukalurks have been 1B Joe Ransom (.343/3/12), 2B Signal Frummy (.333/4/13), RF Alex Hopp (.296/3/12), SP Smoker Caliman (3-0, 2.74), and RP Uppin Attem (1-0, 0.96). Orange has appeared to be the NWL's best overall team in 2308 thus far. They are 3rd in runs scored (115) and 1st in runs against (90), allowing just 3.75 runs per game. The Tourists' top three starting pitchers are all having an outstanding start: Allen Puckett (5-0, 2.51), Bull Johnson (4-2, 2.68), and Orion Sapunxiu (4-1, 3.22). Offensively, LF Pudding Onhderitz (.381/1/14) leads the teams in average and RBI, while 3B Percent Lambert (.257/4/11) leads in home runs. Ah Oona picked up the top batter prize in the Nuka World League for May. The Grape shortstop hit .374 with 12 home runs, 27 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He also drew 12 walks to post an OBP of .438. The Pitcher of the Month has been chosen and the Nuka World League trophy went to Orange hurler, Puckett. During the month, Puckett was impressive with a 2.51 ERA and 5 wins and no losses. In 46.2 innings he struck out 37 and gave up 45 hits and 9 walks. Youngster Mike Munchkin emerged as the latest Nuka World League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Victory deserved the honor, batting .388 with 1 home run and 19 RBI. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Munchkin enjoy the limelight. APL The Nuka Bottling Plant Pack and the Dry Rock Gulch Convicts are divisional leaders at this point in the season after playing 27 of 90 games. The Pack fans believe they've got a talented young star in Jake Roth. He did nothing to dissuade that notion in May, as he hit .361 with 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and 22 runs scored. The end result was the center fielder being named the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month. The Amusement Park League presented the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to bullpen ace James Kimbrough of Dry Rock Gulch for his outstanding work on the mound. During the month, the Convicts star had 6 saves in 6 save opportunities, a 0.00 ERA and 2 wins and no losses. In 13 innings Kimbrough struck out 6 and gave up 8 hits and 3 walks. NWLRL The Wixon Cola Kings and Northpoint Reservoir Gulchers are atop the North Bradeberton Division, while the Dunmore Ferris Wheels are alone atop the South Bradberton Division. The Batter of the Month honoree for May in the NWL Rookie League is Wixon Cola Kings first baseman Young Hee Cyuleez. He showed no mercy as he finished the month with a .439 batting average, 9 home runs, 32 RBIs, and 19 runs scored. In May, the top pitcher in the NWL Rookie League was a reliever, thanks to some sensational numbers Camden Wakewater put up coming out of the bullpen. The Wixon relief specialist made 11 relief appearances, picking up 6 saves and 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings, and posted a 2-0 mark and a 0.00 ERA. BBL With just 11 games remaining on the 2308 campaign, the Ol' Sugartop Buckaroos hold a two-game lead and a Magic # of 10. The Wixon Shovels are two games back and lead both the King Cola Youths and Mad Mulligan Travelers by a game for the wildcard spot. Egg Rolled put together a good May to earn the Bradberton Boys League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Mad Mulligan officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Travelers center fielder posted a .250 batting average with 13 home runs, 26 RBIs and 20 runs scored. The Bradberton Boys League Pitcher of the Month honor has been given to York Sinatra of Ol Sugartop for a superlative month. "I actually never wanted to be a pitcher," Sinatra told reporters when asked who he credits for his pitching ability. "I wanted to be an outfielder and on the third day of tryouts my coach came up and said, 'Sin, you couldn't hit a lick even if we put it on a tee for ya.' Well, that ticked me off, so I decided if I couldn't hit I wanted to make sure no one else could either and so here I am." It all turned out for the best as the Ol Sugartop starter notched a 3-0 record with a 0.00 ERA last month. He made 8 starts and struck out 48 in 38.1 innings. Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 1 June 2308 Vim! League After 24 With 24 games down, the Echo Lake Harbormen and Grand Hotel Atoms hold slight leads in their divisions. Both teams have won 15 games to date with just two teams--National Park and Cranberry Island--struggling. Ryan Hurst is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Echo Lake third baseman joined that select company when the Vim! League announced the results of May's voting. Hurst totaled 33 hits, 14 walks, 7 home runs, 23 RBIs and 23 runs scored last month to put together a .359 batting average and .439 on-base percentage. He was the best pitcher in May according to the voters. Mike Stiner shut down enemy batters to win the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month Award. Echo Lake's star reliever held the opposition to a .200 average and put up 8 saves and 18 strikeouts in 19 innings with a 3-0 mark and a 2.37 ERA. Cluck Roo's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Acadia center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .341 with 6 doubles, 3 triples and 6 home runs. Roo also scored 16 times and drove in 17 runs. In the Mount Desert Island League, Brooke's Head leads their division thanks to a 10-game winning streak. Also, the Rayburn Point Patcheyes are atop their division in a playoff matchup that could feature two franchises that used to play in the Vim! League. Boss Ross of Cliff's Edge and Mike Pigeonfoot of Rayburn Point are tied for the Batter WAR lead at 1.5. The Pitcher WAR leader is Clue Whitmore of the Behemoths at 1.3. The Vim! Rookie League is led by the Glowing Grove Braniacs and the Fringe Cove Champions. CF Nute Gunray of Vim! Factory is the Batter WAR leader (1.6) and Huntress Island's Roman Zvolanek and MS Azalea's Guo-quiang Shaw are the Pitcher WAR leaders (1.7). In the Maine Youth League's, one game separates first and last place in the MDIF with Cliff's Edge and Far Harbor tied at 14-13 for 1st place. In the GDIL, Diamond Cove has a two-game lead over Echo Point. Slinky McGee of the Dockdwellers is the Batter WAR leader (1.8) in the MDIF, and both Junky Turnbull of Diamond Cove and Better Bill Howzitt of Pleasant Cove are the Batter WAR leaders in the GDIL (1.8). Pitcher WAR leaders in each league are the Wolves' Hawk Dawson (1.9) and the Raiders' Arc Darkwater (2.0).

June 2308
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 15 June 2308 CBO Analysis We are now more than 50 games into the 2308 season, and we are beginning to get a much better idea of which teams may be in the running in the end. There are a few consistent teams, both good and bad, in the 2308 season, and there are some other teams that we still have the wait-and-see approach. Let's break down the Power Rankings Top 5 and then look at the individual leagues of the CBO. Salem remains #1 this week after a 7-3 mark in their last 10 and a weekend sweep. The Witch Hats split at Lexington (#17), won two at Nahant (#18), split with Bunker Hill (#10), and then swept the Celtics. Sunshine Tidings jumps into the #2 spot thanks to a six-game winning streak and a 7-3 mark in their last 10 games. The Chemists split at County Crossing (#16), won one of three at the 75ers, swept The Slog (#14), and then swept Fort Hagen (#24). With the best record in the SCA, Vault 81 is the #3 team with a four-game streak and a 6-4 record the past two weeks. The Dwellers split with Atom (#19), won one over Oberland (#6), split at University Point (#9), and then swept FHE (#22). Nordhagen Beach is the #4 team despite only going 5-5 in their last 10. The Party Boys split at Bunker Hill, won one at the Ghouls, swept the Silver Shroud, and then won one at home over Easy Town (#11). Quincy rounds out the Top 5 at #5 with a 7-3 record in the past two weeks. Despite still trailing by two games in the Minutemen League, the Gunners have been the hottest team in that league. They split with the Yao Guai, swept the Cats, got swept by the T-51s, and then swept Goodneighbor (#20). Brotherhood League This league has been consistently good one, currently tied with the ML with four teams above .500 and only lacking a fifth because of Salem's sweep over Nahant. The Hats have been the CBO's most consistent team, covering around .700 each month, as well as being great in one-run games (9-2) and extra-inning games (6-1). Add to that, the Witch Hats are murderers at home (21-4). The defending champions, Nordhagen Beach, are only four games back, though, and they have been consistently good, too. The Boys are 3rd in runs scored (282) and 2nd in runs allowed (204). CF Maxx Murtagh (.369/21/44) is in midseason contention for the Nuka Hitter Award. Third-year manager Zach Toth is also experimenting with the lineup, including trying RF Jonathan Angelou (.233/16/54) at the leadoff spot to try to get him back closer to his career .286 average. His .233 average is his lowest of his career since he became a full-time starter in 2299. SP Beachboy Nut (8-3, 2.55) has been consistently effective, as well as SP Ugio Church (9-2, 3.51). Institute League With their current winning streak, the Chemists have appeared to have taken control of the IL. This league is a tale of two halves with the top three teams--Sunshine Tidings, Bunker Hill, and Starlight--way ahead of the bottom three--Lexington, Concord, and Fort Hagen. The Silver Shroud have appeared to hit the true bottom in franchise history, currently 11th in runs scored (226) and 12th in runs allowed (346) at 6.65 runs allowed per game! It is evident why the Shroud have the CBO's worst record; they are giving up a lot of runs while lacking an offense that can outscore opponents. C Sleve McDichael (.306/8/29) is the only hitter over .300 on the team. 2B Sauce Almeida (.240/11/34) leads the team in HR. Current ace SP Nien Nunb (0-9, 8.38) is terrible. Prospects in the near future do not look good. Minutemen League With Atom and Goodneighbor a solid 10 games below .500, the race for the ML is a four-way race which should be exciting until the end. Spectacle Island currently leads, but they just got swept by University Point, which now trails by just three games in 3rd place. Jamaica Plain is quietly in 4th place, trailing by four games. The Red Rockets will probably be there through the end as evidenced by playoff appearances seven of the past eight seasons. They are currently 3rd in runs scored (288) and 2nd in runs allowed (217), showing that they are experiencing a statistical anomaly of dropping more games than their stats indicate. LF Ken Debate (.300/21/45) should be in the midseason discussion for Nuka Hitter Award, and 2B Bulleye Shooterson (.306/15/42) and SS Jake Doucette (.312/10/29) are having outstanding seasons. On the mound, SP Derek Green (7-4, 3.30) has been the most consistent starter with RP Rob O'Cop (3-0, 1.69) helping out in the bullpen. Railroad League The RL is still surprising us due to Roxbury's struggles in 2308. While we do not expect those struggles to continue all season, the Rad Sox sit in 4th place behind Vault 81, Oberland, and Egret. The T-51s have started to warm up, showing that they are a team we should keep an eye on. While the offense has not been great, 7th in runs scored (236), the pitching has been fusion core-powered with the least runs allowed (192) and the best Starters ERA (3.49). The top three starters--Emperry Alizm (9-4, 2.25), Mesquite Williams (6-4, 3.40), and Trolley Dodge (5-5, 3.63)--can take over any game. Add to that the 3rd-best Bullpen ERA (3.74) led by CL William Butcherman (13 SV, 2.29) and RP Dan Beantown (3-2, 1.84), and Oberland is tough to score on. CBO Standings CBO Power Rankings CBO Players of the Week June 8 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Dan Erb was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Salem Witch Hats left fielder hit .500 while collecting 9 hits in 18 at-bats, 3 home runs and 9 RBIs. Erb is hitting .413 so far this season with 37 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 76 hits including 13 home runs, 24 walks and .488 OBP. Bill Lazarus demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. The Goodneighbor right fielder wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .500 average (12-for-24) with 1 home run and 6 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. For the season Lazarus is currently batting .353 with 5 home runs and 36 RBIs. In 47 games he has reached base at a .391 rate and scored 34 runs to date. June 15 - His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Maxx Murtagh was rewarded with the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Nordhagen Beach Party Boys center fielder hit .421 while collecting 8 hits in 19 at-bats, 5 home runs and 7 RBIs. This season in 52 games Murtagh is batting .369 with 21 home runs, 44 RBIs and has scored 59 times. The marquee name in the South Charles Association this week is Orcin Cardinal of the Oberland T-51s. The hot-hitting 26-year-old right fielder put up a .471 average and .565 on-base percentage, piling up 8 hits in 17 at-bats, 3 home runs, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored. That kind of hitting got him the SCA Player of the Week honors. Batting .350 to date, Cardinal has 21 home runs and 67 RBIs. BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 29 June 2308 CBO Analysis At the midpoint of the season, we have some interesting races throughout the CBO's four leagues with five games the maximum difference between 1st and 3rd place. Three teams--Salem, Sunshine Tidings, and Vault 81--are now tied for the best record, all at 40-22. If the playoffs were to start today, these would be the seedings: NCA 1-T. Salem 1-T. Sunshine Tidings 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Bunker Hill 5. Easy Town The Witch Hats and Chemists have faced off four times this season, with each going 2-2. Therefore, we are listing them as tied although Sunshine Tidings would be the de facto #1 in tiebreakers for intraassociation record. Other teams most strongly in the race are Starlight at a game back of the Assaultrons and The Slog at three games back. All other teams in the NCA are below .500 currently. SCA 1. Vault 81 2. Spectacle Island 3. Oberland 4. Jamaica Plain 5. Egret Oberland and Egret are tied for 2nd in the RL, but the T-51s hold a 4-2 advantage on the season to split them to 3rd and 5th seeds. Other teams in the hunt are Quincy at one game back of Jamaica Plain for 2nd in the ML and two games back of the Ninjas. Also, University Point is the other team above .500, three games back of the Rockets and four back of Egret. Now the Power Rankings Top 5: Vault 81 is this week's #1 after going 7-3 and moving into a tie for the CBO's top record. The Dwellers Swept Quincy (#13) and FHE (#22), split with University Point (#14), and then won one at Oberland (#10). Coming in at #2 is Sunshine Tidings with a 7-3 mark and a tie for the CBO's top record. The Chemists split with County Crossing (#15), swept Fort Hagen (#23), split at Nordhagen Beach (#3), and then won two over Bunker Hill (#8). Despite being a game back for 1st place in the BL, Nordhagen Beach is #3 this week with a 7-3 record in the past two weeks. The Party Boys swept Concord (#24), won two at Nahant (#16), split with the Chemists, and then won two more over the Celtics. Spectacle Island went 7-3 in their last 10 and now jumps up to #4 in the rankings. The Reapers split with the Yao Guai, won two over Atom (#19), swept FHE, and then won two more over the Cats. Coming in at #5 is Salem despite a 4-6 record the past two weeks. The Witch Hats split with the Silver Shroud, lost two of three at Easy Town (#9), split with the 75ers, and then won one at home over The Slog (#12). Brotherhood League This league is still looking to be the strongest from top to bottom with just 11 games separating 1st and 6th. Salem and Nordhagen Beach seem to be locked in a battle of wills, while Easy Town is silently creeping up on them. One team we would like to take a closer look at is Nahant, which seems as though it is the team most likely to fall off in the race by the end of July. The Celtics had a pretty good start, but a rough June (7-13) now sees them four games below .500. Part of the problem is that the offense is just not productive enough, ranking 11th in runs scored (262). Their only good point has been their Starters ERA (4th at 4.40) with the 6th-best ranking for runs allowed (288). CF Grandson Quarles (.337/11/36) has been the most consistently good hitter, while rookie IF Jacob Tarberry (.317/13/29) is already starting to carve his place in stardom. Though 3B is Tarberry's natural position, he has started only six games there while starting 27 at 1B. Trade acquisition, 1B Duncan MacCready (.285/4/31) has hit only .185 with 0 home runs and two RBI since coming to the Celtics. Institute League As mentioned before, it appears that Sunshine Tidings has flexed its dominance once again, currently holding a four-game lead. Bunker Hill and Starlight each seem to be fully in the playoff race, and we know that at least one of those two teams will make the playoffs since Lexington, Fort Hagen, and Concord need to rebuild. To stay on the theme of teams not playing well, the Radstags now possess the CBO's worst record at 15-47 after going 1-9 the past two weeks. Only three seasons ago, this was a playoff team, so their fall has been sharp since that time, going from 2nd in 2305 to 6th in 2307. The Stags are 12th in runs scored (220) as well as dead last in most offensive categories and 10th in runs allowed (352). That means Concord is outscored by over two runs per game! If there is any one player to pinpoint as a 2308 All-Star, it would be LF Forrest Library (.313/12/31). Minutemen League The ML is a four-team race since we are pretty sure University Point will not hover around .500 all season. That means that both Atom and Goodneighgbor are the odd teams for this competitive league. While the Reapers and Gunners still seem to be up-and-coming teams, the Cats and Hancocks have not been able to get much right in recent years with Atom last making the playoffs in 2305 during a five-year playoff stretch and Goodneighbor last making the playoffs in 2300 during a four-year stretch of winning the ML each year, including the Sole Survivor Series in 2298. For Goodneighbor, they are loaded with talent at each level of the CBO, including eight players on the Hancocks roster who are 21 or younger. The star is 19-year-old Missile Crews (.301/11/36) with other youngsters, including rookie SP/RP Heaven Fontenot (2-3, 2 SV, 5.46), SP Oliver Oil (6-5, 3.90), rookie 1B Tony Two-time (,298/8/23), and RF Bill Lazarus (.322/5/38). Railroad League With Roxbury six games below .500, Vault 81, Oberland, and Egret are getting their chance to sit at the high table for now. The Rad Sox have been one of the more banged-up teams. In addition to pitchers Quest Dawg and Roger Failure being out for the year, RF Deerlord Fugivmee (.275/5/22) probably will not be back before late July. One team that has shaped some young talent as an opposite of the older talent that used to pepper the lineup is Diamond City. Like Goodneighbor, there are young players that are starting to emerge for the franchise, but they will need to get much better before they can compete for a playoff run. 2308 will not be the year. Owner Moe Cronin is starting to be able to let go of his feelings when making moves now that he sees he held on to a few players for too long. 37-year-old closer Josh Samm (6 SV, 2.57) and 35-year-old SP Sheng Kawolski (6-5, 2.53) are still playing at a high level, but some of the other players over 30 are not as good. There are some foundational pieces for the Swatters, including a young outfield featuring Magnum Peaeye (.253/12/40), Todd Smithfield (.289/13/36), and Weldon Steak (.250/3/8). They also have 21-year-old 2B Blaine Bishop (.261/4/13), youngest brother of 3B Allen Bishop (.283/2/14). CBO Standings CBO Power Rankings CBO Players of the Week June 22 - Today the North Charles Association announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is County Crossing's talented right fielder Babs Rooth. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually a bad omen for pitchers. For the week Rooth batted .632 (12-for-19) with 1 home run and 4 RBIs. Rooth is currently batting .348 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs. Barker Cocoa is respected by most University Point Deathclaws fans for his no-frills style of play. The 29-year-old first baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .524 average (11-for-21) with 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 6 runs scored. This year Cocoa has batted at a .330 pace with 67 hits, 16 home runs, 49 RBIs and scored 46 times. June 29 - Rich Verdu of the The Slog Ghouls cruised to North Charles Association Player of the Week honors after putting together one of the finest stretches in his career last week. The first baseman batted .579 (11-for-19) with 1 home run, 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored. A look at his season totals shows Verdu with 6 home runs, .431 BA, .450 OBP, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored. The South Charles Association has chosen David Seaweed of the University Point Deathclaws as Player of the Week. What a week Seaweed had. He hit .636 (7-for-11) with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored. This year Seaweed is batting .245 with 8 home runs. You know, it's good to see Salem do well too. I think I've said it before, but that's an underrated side of the map. A lot of cool stuff over there but the game doesn't really draw you in that direction.

And Salem would have been a much better official settlement than Coastal Cottage!

"I've been around Commonwealth Baseball Organization long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Murtagh told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month." In 21 games, Murtagh hit .373 with 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 23 runs. Looking at his season stats, Murtagh has compiled a .362 batting average and a .452 on-base percentage, while hitting 25 home runs and driving in 57 runs. SCA Hitter - On the heels of a very productive June, Barker Cocoa received South Charles Association Batter of the Month recognition today. The battle-tested first baseman hit .348 for the University Point Deathclaws and racked up 11 home runs, 26 RBIs and 24 runs scored. This year Cocoa is batting .332 with 20 home runs and 56 RBIs. NCA Pitcher - When Brian Bridges takes the hill, there's a good chance for a Sunshine Tidings victory. At least that's the way it was in May. He excelled with a 6-0 mark and a 2.49 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 47 innings, fanned 31, and held enemy hitters to a .217 average. That's why the Chemists star was honored today as the Pitcher of the Month by the North Charles Association. For the year Bridges has a 9-4 record with a 3.56 ERA in 16 starts. SCA Pitcher - Tup Mallory was firing on all cylinders in the month of June with 5 wins as he steamrolled all South Charles Association opposition on his way to the Pitcher of the Month award. During the month Mallory was 5-0 with a 2.13 ERA. He made 5 starts, tossed 38 innings and had 39 strikeouts. To this point in the season Mallory has 8 wins and 4 losses and a 4.53 ERA. NCA Rookie - Shaak Ti is turning heads by putting up some spectacular numbers and today he collected the North Charles Association Rookie of the Month Award. The 25-year-old Starlight starting pitcher threw 34 innings in June, registering a 3-2 record, 3.18 ERA, 22 strikeouts and 17 walks. This season, Ti has 9 wins and 5 losses and a 3.92 ERA. SCA Rookie - Tony Two-time is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest South Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In June the Goodneighbor hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .282 average with 22 hits, 5 home runs and 17 RBIs. Presently Two-time is batting .303 with 8 home runs and 26 RBIs. He has played in 56 games and scored 23 times. MML Analysis Teams have played 61 of the season's 108 games now. The Abernathy Adamantium (BH) still have the best shot to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the season, now up eight games on second-place Graygarden (UP). Other division leaders are Everett (V81) of the Murtagh Division, Providence (Sal) in the Williams Division, and Warwick (Star) in the Yastrzemski Division. Next week, the league will have its All-Star weekend. MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - Even though he is a newcomer to Massachusetts Minor League, Syd Thriftstore put up some good numbers in June and earned the LL Batter of the Month award. He was one of Watertown's offensive leaders with a .412 average in 21 games. He also racked up 14 home runs, 30 RBIs, and 21 runs scored. In the 2308 season Thriftstore is hitting .377 with 21 home runs. SL Hitter - Today Will Wallace was voted Stars League Batter of the Month for July. During the month the 21-year-old Providence right fielder compiled a .430 batting average. Most importantly for the Warlocks though, he also posted 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and 22 runs scored. For the year Wallace is hitting .300 with 5 home runs. His stats include 30 runs batted in and 38 runs scored. LL Pitcher - Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Bow Rome still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 40-year-old starter for Graygarden was named Legends League Pitcher of the Month earlier today. He collected 4 wins and 1 loss with 14 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 3.79 ERA in 40.1 innings of work. In 16 starts this season Rome has chalked up a 8-6 record and a 4.60 ERA. SL Pitcher - The Stars League announced today that Gwinnett Southie has been chosen the league's Pitcher of the Month. The Sandwich starter had everything working for him last month as he glided to a 3-1 record. In June Southie chalked up a 1.14 ERA in 39.1 innings with 26 strikeouts and 7 walks. This year Southie has made 14 starts, thrown 93.2 innings, fanned 60 batters and walked 15. His won-lost record is 4-6 with a 3.07 ERA.

July 2308
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 1 July 2308 The July Super Post, Part 2 BMU Analysis Teams are now through 51 of their scheduled 88 games, and we can only hope this group of prospects keeps fighting to show how good they can be. Division leaders are Taffington Boathouse (Egr) of the Dark Hollow Pond League, Mystic Pines (Obe) in the Cambridge League, Neponset Park (Sal) in the Downtown Boston League, and Forest Grove (FtH) in the Glowing Sea League. BMU Players of the Month CA Hitter - When Mountainside Rockhand stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month award. The young Fiddler's Green first baseman posted a .411 batting average with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 21 runs. Rockhand also worked pitchers for 13 walks to post a .506 on-base percentage. This year Rockhand has batted at a .395 pace with 32 hits, 9 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 23 times. MA Hitter - Winslow Beaver may be much younger than other hitters in the Massachusetts Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in June to win the Batter of the Month award. The 19-year-old Boston Common first baseman hit .423 with 11 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored. This year Beaver has socked 66 hits in 181 at-bats for a .365 average with 20 home runs. He is getting on base at a .422 pace and his totals also include 50 RBIs and 39 runs scored. CA Pitcher - June's top hurler was Mike Mancia of Woburn. He shackled Commonwealth Association hitters the entire month and claimed the Pitcher of the Month award with a sparkling 4-0 mark. The 21-year-old Mancia added 24 strikeouts in 30 innings and 12 walks to his season record and compiled a 3.00 ERA. Other clubs hit .268 against him. In 12 starts this season Mancia has recorded a 5-1 record and a 4.95 ERA. MA Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month has been picked and the Massachusetts Association trophy went to Mayoral Shelter hurler Stranger Backrubman for his strong performance in June. During the month, Backrubman was impressive with a 1.73 ERA and 4 wins and no losses. In 26 innings he struck out 22 and gave up 24 hits and 8 walks. This year Backrubman has gone 5-4 with an ERA of 4.21 and has 65 strikeouts in 72.2 innings. GBRL Analysis There is still only one division where a team has a huge lead. That is in the Southeast Division where the Park Street AntAgonizers (Sal) have an 11-game lead. Other division leaders are Greentop Nursery (JP) in the Northeast, Nuka Express (Star) in the Northwest, and Pioneer Park (FtH) in the Southwest. GBRL Players of the Month NL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Jim Fry certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the NL Batter of the Month award for June. The 21-year-old left fielder for the Belmont Sneakers hit .453 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 20 runs scored. So far this season Fry has hit .374 with 11 home runs, 45 RBIs and scored 35 times. SL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 20 Pagetti Rook has a lot of baseball ahead of him. But for now the young Roadside Pines Cosmos star can enjoy the numbers he put up in June, which have garnered him the nod as the South League Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .492 average with 6 home runs, 23 RBIs and 27 runs scored. This year Rook is hitting at a .389 pace with 16 home runs and 54 RBIs. He has played in 51 games and scored 52 times. NL Pitcher - The North League scribes have announced June's Pitcher of the Month and have given the award to Chris Brahmin of Breakheart Banks. He was one tough cookie on the mound last month with a fine 4-0 mark to prove it. The Breakheart Banks star made 5 starts with a 1.69 ERA and surrendered 29 hits in 37.1 innings. He struck out 47 and walked 11. So far this season Brahmin has a record of 5-5 with 105 strikeouts and 27 walks in 84.1 innings and a 2.99 ERA. SL Pitcher - Over the past month Pokey Chatman has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the South League. He proved all that and now he's been named June's Pitcher of the Month. The rookie for the Park Street AntAgonizers posted 5-0 mark and a 2.79 ERA. In 5 starts he tossed 42 innings, permitted 28 hits and fanned 46 batters. This season Chatman has a 8-2 record with a 3.11 ERA. BCAC Analysis The BCAC remains a heavily competitive league from top to bottom in its inaugural season. In the North Division, the CIT Engineers lead over Bunker Hill University by two games. In the South Division, Northeastern University leads by two games over Boston College. BCAC Players of the Month BCAC Hitter - The Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference Batter of the Month has been picked for June and the honor goes to the Harvard Crimson Shell Lob. He compiled a .395 batting average with 32 hits and 6 home runs, along with 13 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Lob is presently batting .368 with 19 home runs, 55 runs scored and 40 RBIs. His OBP is .439. BCAC Pitcher - Downy Drugger of CIT excelled on the mound in June with a 3-0 record and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference. Drugger restricted opposing batters to 22 base hits and a .237 batting average. He rang up 25 strikeouts in 24.1 innings of work, surrendered 8 walks, and fashioned a 1.85 ERA. To date this season Drugger is 6-3 with 3 starts and an ERA of 4.38 with 68 strikeouts in 74 innings. BCAC All-Star Game All-Star Boston College Eagles' left fielder Tom Bomb had a night to remember. Not only did he take the field with the game's best players, he was also a huge factor in the 5-1 South Division victory over the North Division All-Stars. "We had a meeting before the game, and I was struck by the talent in the room. Old stars, young stars, it's a game I'll never forget," Bomb said. "I talked to a few of my friends from back home, and they told me to go out and win the game for them. I'm sure they'll be thrilled." Here are the division leaders: Cape Cod Bay - Truro Nantucket Sound - Nauset Beach Seekonk River - Woodlawn and Pawtucket Narragansett Bay - New Bedford SCYL Players of the Month CCL Hitter - Charles Towner is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Provincetown right fielder joined that select company when the Cape Cod League announced the results of June's voting. Towner totaled 37 hits, 7 walks, 9 home runs, 24 RBIs and 27 runs scored last month to put together a .474 batting average and .528 on-base percentage. A look at his current stats shows Towner with a .386 average, 14 home runs, 38 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has played in 51 games. PL Hitter - Not known for his offensive prowess, Tram Melstu set the league afire in June and took home the Providence League Batter of the Month award. The New Bedford first baseman posted a steady .383 batting average, 11 home runs, 29 RBIs and 25 runs. This season Melstu is hitting .345 with 21 home runs. CCL Pitcher - The Pitcher of the Month for June has been picked and the Cape Cod League award went to Wareham hurler, Melvin Terminator. During the month, Terminator was impressive with a 0.70 ERA and 5 wins and no losses. In 51.2 innings he struck out 68 and gave up 27 hits and 9 walks. This year Terminator has a 7-1 record with a 1.89 ERA. PL Pitcher - Arwen Gonar really strutted his stuff in June with 4 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Providence League. The New Bedford starter was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition. In 41 innings of work, Gonar limited opposing batters to 39 base hits and a .257 batting average. He totaled 37 strikeouts, issued 12 walks and had a 2.41 ERA. This season Gonar has a 7-1 record with a 3.66 ERA in 15 starts. SCYL All-Star Game Jay Gabby shined brightly tonight against the best talent that the SCYL has to offer. The all-star was named MVP for the annual mid-season showcase held at Guaranteed Rate Field, as his Cape Cod League All-Stars downed the Providence League All-Stars by a count of 8-6. "It's humbling to even play in a game like this with legends of the sport all around you," he said. Gabby went 3 for 4 to capture the honor. Looking at his career stats, Gabby is batting .354 and has totaled 19 home runs. What's the best league? The Cape Cod League or the Providence League? The answer will be found in the Southern Commonwealth Youth League All-Star Game. All the votes have been counted and tabulated, all the players have been selected, and they will decide the question on the baseball diamond. A bit off topic, but seeing this last post reminded me: I recently have started doing some geneology research. This time three weeks ago I thought I didn't have any ancestors in the United State pre-civil war, but now, in my research, my earliest American ancestor is actually on my paternal grandmother's side... came to America in 1650 and settled in Swansea, which I see has a team. I'm quite intrigued with the town, as one of those weird places on a border, seeing as it touches Rhode Island.

2308 Season Pass Association
---------------------------------------------------------- Nuka News Update Reporting on the NWL, APL, NWLR, and BBL Leagues by Evan Guy 1 July 2308 Orange Pulls Away, North Bradberton Locked The Orange Tourists have never won a Nuka Series, but the 2308 Tourists may be the first to do it. Orange has been to the series three times, with their last appearance in 2305. This year's team is 12 games up on Quartz and 17 over both Dark and 2307 champions, the Cherry Ghoulrillas. Second-year manager, Bob Wire Carranza, has credited an "incredible" pitching staff for the success. Ace Allen Puckett (9-0, 3.26) leads a great 1-2-3 punch along with SPs Bull Johnson (7-4, 2.81) and Orion Sapunxiu (7-1, 3.76). The offense has been middle-of-the-road, though 1B Bill Black (.395/2/18), LF Pudding Ohnderitz (.330/2/27), and 3B Percent Lambert (.300/10/31) have led the offense. In the North Bradberton Division, both Quantum and Victory are tied, just three games up on both Grape and Wild. The Painted Ghouls won the division the past two seasons. The Nukalurks have been winning with a good offense, led by RF Alex Hopp (.393/11/34). However, the Cave Crickets have an even better offense and have the statistical advantages to eventually pull away. SP Jesse Emacipated (10-1, 2.61) leads the NWL's 2nd best-scoring defense, while RF Edgar Virus (.325/13/49) leads the NWL's best-scoring offense. Even though he is a newcomer to Nuka World League, Alex Hopp put up some good numbers in June and earned the NWL Batter of the Month award. He was one of Quantum's offensive leaders with a .467 average in 24 games. He also racked up 8 home runs, 22 RBIs, and 24 runs scored. In his season totals Hopp has 11 home runs and a .393 batting average. Jesse Emacipated hated to see June turn to July. And who could blame him? The 35-year-old hurler piled up 6 wins and no losses for the Cave Crickets last month and won the Nuka World League Pitcher of the Month award for his efforts. Emacipated stymied opposing batters on 42 base hits and a .226 batting average. He rang up 34 strikeouts in 52 innings of work, surrendered 10 walks and fashioned a sparkling 1.73 ERA. To date Emacipated is 10-1 in 12 starts with a 2.61 ERA and has 60 strikeouts in 93 innings. In 0 starts 20-year-old Troll Perez really put together an impressive June to win the Nuka World League Rookie of the Month honor. The Wild starter spun 1 win and 1 loss as he posted a 1.64 ERA and 6 strikeouts in 11 innings. This year Perez has 18 relief appearances with 9 saves, 2-2 season record and a 1.74 ERA. He has hurled 20.2 innings, given up 16 hits, struck out 16 and walked 10. Opposing clubs have batted .211 against the Wild reliever. NWL Minors and Boys Ball In the APL, the division leaders are the Nuka Bottling Plant Pack and the Dry Rock Gulch Convicts. Brotherseven Dadson put together a good June to earn the Amusement Park League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Bradberton officials that he belongs on the big league roster. The Disciples right fielder posted a .407 batting average with 8 home runs, 24 RBIs and 19 runs scored. For the year Dadson is batting .377 with 58 hits and 14 home runs. He has scored 35 times and driven in 43. The hottest hurler in the Amusement Park League last month was Dan Lowbridge of the Safari Adventure Gazelles. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the APL Pitcher of the Month. In June, Lowbridge starred with an impressive 5-0 record. In 5 starts he gave up 16 base hits and struck out 29 in 29 innings with a 3.72 ERA. On the season Lowbridge has 5 wins and 2 losses and a 5.88 ERA. The NWL Rookie League's leaders are the Wixon Cola Kings and the Dunmore Ferris Wheels. At only 18 years of age, Coal Weedeater could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Northpoint Reservoir Gulchers, as June was one to remember for the first baseman and he has captured the NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .360 with 14 home runs, 39 RBIs and 26 runs scored. So far on the season Weedeater is hitting .357 with 23 home runs, 73 RBIs and 53 runs scored. He has 75 hits and played in 53 games. June's premier pitcher was Adrian Beercan of Wixon Cola Kings. He pulverized NWL Rookie League hitters all month long and picked up the Pitcher of the Month award. The Cola Kings star hurler fashioned a 4-0 record en route to the honor. He had 25 strikeouts in 31.1 innings and compiled a 3.16 ERA. Other clubs hit .237 against him. This season in 12 starts Adrian Beercan has a record of 6-1 with 49 strikeouts in 64 innings and a 2.81 ERA. With a 7-5 win over the Ol Sugartop Buckaroos at Cappie's Playground today, the King Cola Youths wrapped up their 1st title in team history. The Youths left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said King Cola manager Blues McGovern. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as King Cola celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order. "I hope they have a big celebration," Ol Sugartop manager Cannonball Burse said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it." Vim! View Veracious, Vivacious, Vainglorious Vision of the Vim! Leagues by Vikky Vail 1 July 2308 Divisions Tight in the Vim! League Both divisions in the Vim! League have tight races with just one team, National Park, out of contention. In the Fog Division, the Dalton Farm Fog Crawlers hold a one-game lead over the Eden Meadows Anglers. Echo Lake, which won the division a season ago, is in 3rd place. In the Harbor Division, both Grand Hotel and Far Harbor are knotted for first place. Acadia is back by three games, while Cranberry Island is five games back. Ryan Morris said it was "focus and determination" that led him to winning the June Batter of the Month award for the Vim! League. Whatever it was, the Dalton Farm third baseman could not be denied, hitting .330 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and 24 runs scored to round out his great month. This year Morris is hitting .293 with 8 home runs and 36 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .376 clip and scored 45 runs. When the Acadians skipper wrote Going on the lineup card, it was a bad omen for the opposition. Outing after outing in June he took command and usually got the win. He dominated with a 5-0 mark and 2.28 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Acadians star pitched 43.1 innings, fanned 22 and held opposing teams to a .253 average. For his excellent mound work Going was named the VIML Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers. In 11 starts this year Going has posted 7 wins while suffering 2 losses. He has pitched 78.2 innings, allowed 83 hits, struck out 40 and has a 3.66 ERA. Youngster Marc Giddens emerged as the latest Vim! League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Eden Meadows deserved the honor, batting .360 with no home runs and 11 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Giddens enjoy the limelight. This year Giddens is batting .358 with 62 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 32 times and has batted in 25 runs. The Mount Desert Island League also has tight races. In the Small Bertha Division, Southwest Harbor and Brooke's head are tied, while both Eagle's Cove and Rayburn Point are tied in the Old Longfellow Division. Vince Eller has a lot going for him. The Oceanarium right fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the Mount Desert Island League has just picked him as its top hitter for June. In 24 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .351 with 12 home runs, 29 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Hitting .348 to date, Eller has 25 home runs and 59 RBIs. He has played in 47 games. Jon Thompson was a long shot to make the Southwest Harbor Rippers this year, especially being a 30-year-old rookie. Now the Southwest Harbor hurler has parlayed a 3-1 record into the Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month award. In June, he chalked up 24 strikeouts in 40 innings and compiled a 2.02 ERA. Thompson has gone 5-3 this season with an ERA of 3.43 and 40 strikeouts in 78.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .253 against him. The Vim! Rookie League is not as tight, with Glowing Grove leading by five games in the Western Atlantic while Fringe Cove leads by seven games in the Eastern Atlantic. Rock Point Barnacles fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in June. Stogie Seabrooke put up a remarkable month at the age of 19 and has been named the VIM! Rookie League Batter of the Month. For the month, Seabrooke hit .358 with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs and 28 runs scored. For the season Seabrooke has hit .331 with 14 home runs and 47 RBIs. He has played in 53 games and scored 51 times. The VIM! Rookie League scribes have selected June's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Saesee Tiin of Glowing Grove. He was outstanding on the hill last month and has the numbers to prove it -- a 4-1 record. The Brainiacs star performer made 7 starts with a 4.53 ERA and surrendered 48 hits in 49.2 innings. He struck out 58 and walked 24. In 12 starts this season, Tiin has recorded 9 wins and absorbed 1 loss. He has pitched 91.1 innings, allowed 79 hits, struck out 107 and has a 3.55 ERA. The Diamond Cove Fort Knights pulled out all the stops on 20 June, winning the Maine Youth Series in a hard-fought series with the Far Harbor Dockdwellers. It was a seesaw affair, but with a 5-3 victory at The Dock, Diamond Cove lay claim to the franchise's 1st championship. "There's no denying we faced a tough opponent," said Hmm Frindsoot. "But as the old saying goes, 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going,' and that's what we did today." The champs finished the regular season 23-17 and claimed first place in the Great Diamond Island League.

Cool Occurence
Same night, same game, same stat:
Story 1: By going 2-for-4 in the Nordhagen Beach 8-5 win over Easy Town, Biter Trout reached the 1500-hit mark. The Easy Town Field fans, friend and foe, burst into applause and Trout's teammates hugged and congratulated him on his achievement. "The guys began the countdown weeks ago," said the newest member of the 1500 Club. "I don't know who was more excited -- them or me." Lifetime Trout has hit .354 with 1500 hits, 40 home runs, 602 RBIs and scored 669 runs. Story 2: Easy Town's Sean Samuels got the standing ovation -- but the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys got the win. It was a special day for him at Easy Town Field. A day when Samuels notched hit #1500 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the Party Boys fans applauded. The Assaultrons left fielder went 1-for-3 in a losing cause as Nordhagen Beach spoiled the party with the 8-5 victory. In the postgame interview, a downhearted Samuels told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost." When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 1500-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won." Taking a look at his lifetime stats, Samuels is hitting .315 with a total of 176 home runs.

July 2308
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 13 July 2308 CBO Analysis We are just one week from the All-Star Break, and three teams are still vying to be the top team in the CBO, while there are several other contenders and up-and-comers in the league hoping to take home the ultimate trophy. If the playoffs were to start today, these would be the seedings: NCA 1. Salem 2. Sunshine Tidings 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Bunker Hill 5. Starlight Salem took a slight lead in the NCA for the top record, which also counts as the CBO's top record. As mentioned, the Witch Hats have never been to the playoffs, but they do have a solid nine-game lead over the 6th-best team (Easy Town) in the NCA, which gives them a great chance with just 48 games to play in the regular season. Speaking of the Assaultrons, an unsteady 3-7 mark the past two weeks, only better in the NCA than the CBO's worst team, Concord, has dropped them two games out of the wildcard race with other teams like The Slog, Nahant, and County Crossing not all that far back. SCA 1. Vault 81 2. Spectacle Island 3. Oberland 4. University Point 5. Egret Vault 81 continues to win at a steady pace, including a nice series win over Roxbury to keep the Rad Sox out of playoff contention. Spectacle Island struggled the past two weeks, while University Point has gotten hot and surpasses Jamaica Plain, whom they swept, for 2nd place in the ML. For the wildcard spot, the Ninjas' two greatest threats right now are the Red Rockets and Quincy, in which Egret leads by three games in that race. Like Salem in the NCA, Vault 81 leads the 6th-place team by nine games, giving them a good chance to be playoff bound in 2308. Now the Power Rankings. We are going to change to a different format this week, showing all teams in the Power Rankings with a recap of the past 10 games for the Top 5 teams. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Salem Witch Hats (128.0, +) - The Hats swept Fort Hagen, won two at County Crossing, swept the Silver Shroud again, and then won two over Easy Town in an 8-2 stretch. 2) Vault 81 Dwellers (123.5, +) - The Dwellers went 7-3, sweeping Spectacle Island, winning two over FHE, splitting at Jamaica Plain, and then winning two at the Sox. 3) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (120.5, -) - The Chemists were also 7-3 with a sweep of the Assaultrons and Concord, a split at Nahant, and then a series loss at Starlight. 4) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (115.5, +) - The Boys were 6-4 thanks to a split with Lexington, a series loss at Easy Town, a sweep of the Radstags, and then a series win over County Crossing. 5) Oberland T-51s (114.5, -) - The T-51s continued a steady climb upward by going 7-3 with a sweep of the Rockets, a series win over the Rad Sox, getting swept at Spectacle Island, and then a sweep of the Yao Guai. 6) University Point Deathclaws (110.0, ++) 7) Bunker Hill 75ers (108.0, ++) 8) Spectacle Island Reapers (106.5, --) 9) Starlight Killers (105.5, -) 10) Egret Ninjas (101.5, -) 11) The Slog Ghouls (96.0, +) 12) Quincy Gunners (92.0, +) 13) Easy Town Assaultrons (91.5, --) 14) Nahant Celtics (88.5, +) 15) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (87.0, --) 16) Roxbury Rad Sox (85.0, +) 17) County Crossing Bloodbugs (79.5, -) 18) Goodneighbor Hancocks (78.0, +) 19) Lexington Synths (68.0, -) 20) Atom Cats (62.5, o) 21) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (58.0, +) 22) Diamond City Swatters (57.0, -) 23) FHE Yao Guai (52.5, -) 24) Concord Radstags (31.0, o) Brotherhood League Although there is some distance now with the Witch Hats possessing a 15-game lead over last place County Crossing, this league still feels like the toughest in the CBO. The Hats cannot sleep with Nordhagen Beach and Easy Town still in contention. The Slog and Nahant may not be ready yet, but they have accumulated a lot of talent. Salem is still intriguing with the CBO's best record since statistics would not show that success. The Hats are 2nd in runs scored (385) in the NCA, despite their highest offensive statistic being 2nd in OPS (.825). They are also 5th in runs allowed (320) with the 4th-best Starters ERA (4.14) and the 6th-best Bullpen ERA (4.49). The lineup is top-heavy with their first four batters: 2B Michael Hoopring (.290/21/48), RF Brian DeLong (.262/12/39), LF Dan Erb (.373/19/48), and 1B Needham Tickler (.265/18/52). For pitching, the starters have all done OK and look to have four starters who will finish the season with 10 or more wins: Jaa Thirtysix (7-3, 4.05), Chase Wede (9-7, 3.70), Bry McBourbon (10-6, 3.70), and Aimer Doghair (10-3, 5.06). CL Justin Wilkerson (25 SV, 2.66) has been excellent out of the bullpen and leads the CBO in saves and shutdowns (25). Institute League Sunshine Tidings has control of the IL with the CBO's biggest lead of five games. Like it has been all season, the league is top-heavy with only the Chemists, Bunker Hill, and Starlight truly in playoff contention. Bunker Hill is one of the teams that can benefit greatly by trading for some offensive firepower down the stretch. The 75ers are 8th in run scored (333) while 3rd in runs allowed (301), showing that a lack of offense is what is keeping them most down. The middle of the lineup--CF Jig McGhee (.301/11/31), 1B Matt Stickhouse (.328/19/54), and SS Aaron Squire (.348/15/44)--have been very productive, but they need to distribute run production throughout. Look for potential moves at catcher and the corner outfield to increase that productivity. Minutemen League What looked as though it could be a runaway win has now tightened with the Reapers struggling. However, really University Point is the only team that benefited from those struggles since both Jamaica Plain and Quincy had losing records the past two weeks. Spectacle Island seems to have overcome their talent gaps to be the strongest all-around team in the ML. The Reapers are 3rd in runs scored (407) and 5th in runs allowed (334), which means pitching will need to be better, especially the starters with the 7th-best ERA (4.78) in the SCA. The top two starters--Chris Teddybear (10-4, 3.03) and Justin Sumbich (8-4, 4.47)--have been effective, and their two-closer combination of Alien Mars (10 SV, 3.14) and Ghost Kyudalson (12 SV, 2.12) has worked out well. The lineup is full of power hitters, with the 2nd-best mark of 130 team home runs, led by 1B Homestay Lovetap (.315/33/66). Railroad League Vault 81 is doing what Roxbury usually does, taking series when other teams think they have a shot. Both Oberland and Egret have played effectively through the season's first 72 games, too, meaning that the Rad Sox are looking way up at those squads. Not only that, but the Sox seem to be in sell mode, already making a surprise trade when they sent LF Young Goodman (.296/13/41) to Nordhagen Beach for prospects. For the Dwellers, they will need to find improvement in pitching to maintain the SCA's best record. While they are 2nd in runs scored (414), Vault 81 is 9th in runs allowed (360). They have two really good pitchers in Scruffy Taguchi (8-6, 4.42) and Exxie Summerset (11-4, 3.07), but they need more production throughout their rotation. CL Chris Salazar (20 SV, 2.95) has been an exceptionally excellent pitcher. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week July 6 - Lernz Tentsleep is respected by most Sunshine Tidings Chemists fans for his no-frills style of play. The 30-year-old shortstop went about his business with vigor last week to grab the North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He compiled a .474 average (9-for-19) with 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 6 runs scored. So far this season Tentsleep has 29 home runs and a .316 batting average. Harry Byrd must have thought he was dreaming. First he went on an exceptional week-long batting spree, bashing the ball at a .579 clip, then the Vault 81 second baseman finds out he has been chosen the league's best performer and gets the SCA Player of the Week Award. He told BNN reporters in the postgame, "It was a great week for me. I could see the ball so well. Plus some of the balls seemed to have good eyes, too." For the week Byrd batted .579 (11-for-19) with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs. This season Byrd is batting .340 with 18 home runs. July 13 - Booth Larson of the Salem Witch Hats had a super week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the North Charles Association. The 26-year-old third baseman put up a .524 average with a .565 on-base percentage, racking up 11 hits in 21 at-bats, 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored. Posting a .311 batting average to date, Larson has 7 home runs and 23 RBIs. At the age of 29, Chris Hirshfield might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The University Point left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .450 batting average. For his efforts Hirshfield collected the South Charles Association Player of the Week Award. He racked up 9 hits in 20 at-bats, 3 home runs and 5 RBIs last week in 5 games. This year Hirshfield is batting .325 with 26 home runs and 65 RBIs. MML All-Star Game Joel Mutfruit said the annual all-star game is mostly for the fans to enjoy, but the players have a lot of fun too. "It's a great time to get that much talent on one ball diamond," he said. "You feel fortunate to even be part of it." Mutfruit wasn't just a part of the game, he was named the game MVP, as his Legends League All-Stars won 7-4 over the Stars League All-Stars. Mutfruit went 3 for 4 in the game to earn the nod as the game's best. Mutfruit is hitting .292 lifetime with 186 hits, 31 doubles, 4 triples, 41 home runs, and 120 RBIs to date. He has scored 104 runs and stolen 2 bases. The Legends League All-Stars versus the Stars League All-Stars. It happens every year halfway through the season. It's a baseball spectacle for the fans and the players alike. It's the 2308 Massachusetts Minor League All-Star Game. The fans get to see all their favorite stars perform in the same game, and the outstanding players get to play against each other. The players are out to prove that their league is the best. "You can tell your kids and your grandkids some day that you were the MVP of the all-star game, that's a cool moment," he said. Nothing is for certain about the 2308 Boston Minor Union All-Star Game. It might be dominated by top-notch pitching performances. Or it could turn into a home run derby. Who knows? Pitch by pitch, inning by inning, the game could feature a little of both -- six strikeouts in a row by a nasty southpaw -- or a 3-homer day for some superstar slugger -- plus great catches, thrills, chills and spills -- all the great and the unexpected things that can happen in a baseball game. July 2308
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 27 July 2308 CBO Analysis The 2/3 point of the system is complete now that the All-Star Game is complete. With 40 games remaining, and by our accounts, there are seven teams per association alive for the playoffs with one typically good team per association still alive but needing to stay hot in August and September. If the playoffs were to start today, these would be the seedings: NCA 1. Salem 2. Sunshine Tidings 3. Nordhagen Beach 4. Bunker Hill 5. Starlight Salem has a game lead for the CBO's top record and a three-game lead on both the Chemists and Party Boys for the top record in the SCA. For Sunshine Tidings, getting swept over the weekend gives them just a one-game lead in the Minutemen League. Starlight holds just a game lead for the wildcard spot over Easy Town. The Slog is four games back and the always-dangerous County Crossing is seven back. SCA 1. Vault 81 2. Spectacle Island 3. Oberland 4. Quincy 5. Egret With Spectacle Island continuing to struggle, Vault 81 is six games up for the #1 spot over them but only five games up on Oberland. Four teams are all jumbled with either 44 or 43 wins, meaning the wildcard race is up for grabs, along with the 2, 3, and 4 seeds. Roxbury is approaching .500 and could be a late-season team to watch, but first they need to close the five-game gap for 3rd in the Railroad League. Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Salem Witch Hats (124.2, o) - The Witch Hats remain with the CBO's top record after a 5-3 mark the past two weeks. Salem split with Lexington, won two at The Slog, and then won two at Nahant. 2) Vault 81 Dwellers (123.0, o) - The Dwellers remained one game back of Salem after also going 5-3 the past two weeks. Vault 81 split at Goodneighbor, won two over Egret, and then won two over Oberland. 3) Bunker Hill 75ers (122.3, +) - The 75ers were the hottest team in the past two weeks, going 7-1 over that span. Bunker Hill split with County Crossing, swept the Synths, and then swept Sunshine Tidings. 4) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (117.5, +) - The Party Boys kept up pace with the Hats by going 5-3 the past two weeks. The Boys split at the Chemists, won one at the Bloodbugs, and then swept the Ghouls. 5) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (107.5, -) - The Chemists struggled the past two weeks with a disastrous post-All Star game series loss. Sunshine Tidings split with the Boys, won two over Starlight, and then got swept at Bunker Hill. 6) Oberland T-51s (105.8, +) 7) Starlight Killers (104.2, ++) 8) University Point Deathclaws (104.0, ++) 9) Quincy Gunners (102.0, --) 10) Easy Town Assaultrons (100.0, -) 11) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (98.8, +) 12) Egret Ninjas (98.0, -) 13) Spectacle Island Reapers (96.5, --) 14) The Slog Ghouls (87.2, --) 15) Roxbury Rad Sox (86.8, o) 16) County Crossing Bloodbugs (86.5, o) 17) Nahant Celtics (78.2, +) 18) Lexington Synths (77.5, +) 19) Goodneighbor Hancocks (74.5, -) 20) Atom Cats (66.5, +) 21) FHE Yao Guai (57.8, +) 22) Diamond City Swatters (55.5, +) 23) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (52.2, --) 24) Concord Radstags (33.5, o) Brotherhood League Salem has shown that they are real this season, but they have had late-season collapses in past seasons where they were in playoff contention. They have to pay attention to one key number with 40 games to play: 9. As in a nine-game lead over Easy Town, a number the Hats will need to keep over them to ensure a playoff spot in 2308, which would be Salem's first in franchise history. For the Assaultrons, there are still a few lineup changes they may need to make to help propel them back into contenders. The top four in the lineup have generated 69% of their power numbers: CF Sharkey Lurkfodder (.279/12/37), LF Sean Samuels (.317/10/30), 1B Lannie Tykeson (.297/19/58), and 3B Dog Prairie (.280/21/55). Getting another power hitter could help their tied for 4th scoring offense (402) and 7th-ranked home runs (90) numbers. Institute League PAM readjusted her predictions during the All-Star Break to give Sunshine Tidings the odds to defeat Oberland in the Sole Survivor Series. Of course, the Chemists then immediately lost three to Bunker Hill to close their four-game lead to one. Starlight also got a weekend sweep of Fort Hagen to move five back and into the wildcard lead. The Killers are always that team we feel could be great but just never gets it together when the playoffs are on the line. Starlight is 6th in runs scored (386) and 5th in runs allowed (351). Two pitchers who were acquired to get the Killers over the top, SP Digger Vadim (8-7, 5.03) and SP Whokill Poole (7-8, 4.83), have been struggling all season. Starlight is also 10th in home runs (79) with traditional power hitters, 1B Oren Gep (.274/19/54) and LF Glenn Higinbotham (.231/12/47), struggling to hit their usual pace of home runs. Gep is on pace to hit the fewest home runs of his career since his rookie season in 2299. Minutemen League Spectacle Island has struggled of late, meaning 1st and 4th place are only separated by three games. The ML has become the league we hope all leagues could be until the end of the season. The quietest good team in the CBO is Quincy. Just two games back, statistics do not seem to follow their winning ways. The Gunners are 7th in runs scored (388) and 3rd in runs allowed (352), showing pitching is pushing the team. The Bullpen is 1st in ERA (3.27) but is without CL Ryan Rebman (21 SV, 3.72) for a few weeks with inflammation in his throwing shoulder. While the team is only 7th in home runs (92), they are a well-balanced team through the first six hitters. 2B Shirt Fowler (.322/18/47) earned his first All-Star game appearance and appears to be the best offensive player for the Gunners. Railroad League Vault 81 has been in steady control of the RL for most of the season, despite PAM's prediction that Oberland is the pick for the Sole Survivor Series. It could be that the T-51s will be in 2nd place and win as the 3rd seed, but the Dwellers seem to be the team to beat in the SCA. Egret is a team we still cannot put our fingers on. The Ninjas avoided getting swept by Roxbury over the weekend with a Sunday win, and still remain eight games above .500. Their top three starters--SP Tup Mallory (9-5, 3.88), SP Max Grove (5-8, 3.74), and SP Mat Nielsen (10-6, 3.25)--have all pitched well. Grove has had terrible run support, though, thus the poor record in relation to his ERA. Few offensive players have stood out, despite being the 6th-ranked team in runs scored (390). The acquisition of CF Pockets Aintfull (.299/2/25/17 SB) should help in run production for the rest of the season. CBO Standings CBO Players of the Week July 20 - It was a week to remember for Kurt Kilgore. After wrapping up a torrid week at the plate, the County Crossing Bloodbugs left fielder was named the North Charles Association Player of the Week. Kilgore collected 10 hits in 20 at-bats for a .500 average. He also accounted for 5 RBIs, 1 home run and scored 4 runs. Thus far this season in 77 games Kilgore is batting .328 with 7 home runs, 47 RBIs and 44 runs scored. He has 102 hits in 311 at-bats. The votes have been tallied and the winner of the South Charles Association Player of the Week has been named. It was awarded earlier today to Orcin Cardinal for his great week at the plate. The Oberland right fielder took home the trophy by banging out 12 hits in 20 at-bats for a .600 batting average, driving in 10 runs and scoring 7 times. Currently Cardinal is batting .362 with 111 hits and 32 home runs. He has knocked in 94 runs and scored 63 times. July 27 - It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Matt Stickhouse, the Bunker Hill 75ers 24-year-old first baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for North Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He ripped 9 hits in 16 at-bats, compiling a .562 average with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. In his stats this season, Stickhouse has posted a batting average of .346 with 104 hits in 301 at-bats, 22 home runs and 61 RBIs. He has also scored 61 runs, walked 29 times and compiled a .403 OBP. Jake Doucette of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets had a super week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the South Charles Association. The 30-year-old shortstop put up a .526 average with a .550 on-base percentage, racking up 10 hits in 19 at-bats, 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored. For the year Doucette is batting .316 with 107 hits and 19 home runs. He has scored 66 times and driven in 47. CBO All-Star Game Commonwealth Baseball Organization put its best players on the field today, and the game certainly showed that. In the annual Midseason Classic, the South Charles Association came out over the North Charles Association by a final score of 6-2. Leading the way for the South Charles Association All-Stars was center fielder Missile Crews. "I go out there and do my best every game, All-Star game or not," the star said after his great show, going 1-for-1 in the contest. During his 197-game career Crews has batted .322 and collected 245 hits, 49 home runs and 141 RBIs. BYDL Update The regular season of 86 games has ended, but three teams in the North Region--Concord-Lexington, Beerthirty, and Lynn--are tied for the final wildcard spot. The Sippers and Gamers play the low tiebreaker game with the winner playing the Minuteboys tomorrow for the right to earn the 8th seed in the BYDL. We will give a full update in our first August update of the season. SCYL Update Eight teams clinched playoff berths as the 2308 (and perhaps final*) season of the Southern Commonwealth Youth League. In the CCL, Truro clinched the top seed, while three teams from the Nantucket Sound Division--Nauset Beach, Sandwich, and Wareham--make up the next three seeds. In the PL, Woodlawn and New Bedford each clinched the top two seeds, with the Gnomes two Seekonk River Division mates, Pawtucket and Freeplat, making up the next two seeds. In the first round of the playoffs, the Hatchlings and Screamers won their series, while the Gnomes and Paw Sox took their series in the PL. In the CCL Final, Truro is up 2-0, and Pawtucket is up 1-0 in the PL. * Talks are ramping up of combining the BYDL and SCYL into one coordinated youth league for the 2309 season. This would allow scouts to review prospects on an even playing field.

But for now the young Sunshine Tidings Chemists star can enjoy the numbers he put up in July, which have garnered him the nod as the North Charles Association Batter of the Month. His breakout month featured a .394 average with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 19 runs scored. This season Merchantman has hit at a .283 clip with 70 RBIs, 26 home runs and 63 runs scored. He has played in 83 games. SCA Hitter - At only 23 years of age, Ken Debate could very well have many more months like this last one during his career. That would be great news for fans of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets, as July was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the South Charles Association Batter of the Month award. On the month he hit .388 with 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and 18 runs scored. Debate on the season is batting .325 with 38 home runs. His totals include 90 RBIs and 67 runs scored. He has played in 83 games. NCA Pitcher - The top-rated pitcher this past month in the North Charles Association was Bill Sarnacki of the Starlight Killers. He really dominated league hitters, finishing July with a 5-0 won-lost mark and a 2.02 ERA. The Killers ace made 5 starts and surrendered 27 hits in 40 innings. He struck out 21 and walked 11. In the current season in 19 starts, Bill Sarnacki has a record of 11-5 with 92 strikeouts in 137 innings and a 3.55 ERA. SCA Pitcher - Roxbury starter Urm Rehfeldt really put the chill on opposing teams in July and today was acclaimed the South Charles Association Pitcher of the Month. He excelled with a 3-1 mark and 1.38 ERA in 5 starts. In 39 innings, he fanned 28 and walked 10. This year Rehfeldt has a 10-6 record with a 3.37 ERA. NCA Rookie - Family Sam Partridge is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest North Charles Association Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In July the Lexington hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .308 average with 20 hits, 3 home runs and 12 RBIs. In this current campaign Partridge is hitting at a .327 clip with 17 home runs and 47 RBIs. SCA Rookie - Sebastian Lort's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young FHE right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month. During the month he hit .294 with 4 doubles, no triples and 1 home run. Lort also scored 9 times and drove in 9 runs. In his season totals Lort has 7 home runs and a .254 batting average. MML Analysis Teams have played 81 of the season's 108 games now. The Abernathy Adamantium (BH) still have the best shot to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the season, now up 13 games in the Wade Boggs Division. Other division leaders are Everett (V81) of the Murtagh Division, Providence (Sal) in the Williams Division, and Warwick (Star) in the Yastrzemski Division. MML Players of the Month LL Hitter - Danny Honeycutt received the Legends League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month. "He might be getting older," Lynn's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Danny's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field." To win the honor Honeycutt put up a .412 batting average, 11 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 24 times in July. Currently Honeycutt is batting .290 with 29 home runs, 75 RBIs and 50 runs scored. SL Hitter - Kyle Angst feasted on Stars League pitching in July and today he walked off with the Batter of the Month award. The Castle second baseman rapped out a .370 batting average while collecting 30 hits, 13 home runs, 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored. This year Angst is hitting .306 with 90 hits, 33 home runs, 64 RBIs and has scored 67 runs. LL Pitcher - Which Legends League hurler dominated in the month of July? According to the voters who decide the Legends League Pitcher of the Month award, it was Jared Zaccone of the Finch Farm Shamrocks. He put together a record of 4-1 with an ERA of 2.43 in 5 starting assignments. In addition, he struck out 25 in 40.2 innings. For the year Zaccone has a 8-9 record with a 3.62 ERA in 19 starts. SL Pitcher - In the SL spotlight today is Person Mabty of the Cannons. The bullpen ace was acclaimed the #1 pitcher in the Stars League for July. The Worcester Cannons reliever had no saves for the month with a 5-0 record and 2.25 ERA. He made 2 relief appearances, hurled 40 innings, yielded 35 hits, fanned 32 and walked 9. To date this year, he has registered no saves, 11 wins and no losses with a 3.10 ERA. Mabty has made 12 relief appearances, worked a total of 87 innings and surrendered 78 hits. He has fanned 67, issued 31 free passes and held opposing clubs to a .246 batting average.
