2308 Season Pass Association
10 September 2308 Season Pass Series Game 1: Grand Hotel 6, Orange 1 Road Win Lifts Grand Hotel to 1-0 Lead in SPS The Grand Hotel Atoms powered past the hometown Orange Tourists, 6-1, in the opener of the Season Pass Series at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA today. Grand Hotel starting pitcher Michel Acadiaman threw 9.0 innings of 4-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Atoms now lead the series 1-0. Acadiaman went the distance for Grand Hotel. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. "I always intend to finish what I've started," said Acadiaman. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA in Bradberton. Game 2: Orange 3, Grand Hotel 1 Raucous Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA Crowd Propels Tourists to 3-1 Victory; Series Tied at 1 In a crucial game, the Orange Tourists put on their best show, beating the Grand Hotel Atoms by a final score of 3-1 today. Riff Tamson threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Orange and Grand Hotel are now tied at 1 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair. Had Bill Black not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Black hit a 2-run triple. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Tourists. "We're one game closer to our goal," Orange manager Bob Wire Carranza said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that." The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 4th , 2308 at Harbor Grand Hotel Grounds. Game 3: Grand Hotel 6, Orange 2 Grand Hotel Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in SPS The Grand Hotel Atoms got a strong performance from pitcher Bossy O'Malley, who stymied the visiting Orange Tourists en route to a win, 6-2, in Game 3 of the Season Pass Series today. The Tourists could never get a bead on the right-handed O'Malley, who threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The Atoms now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series. Ryan Ediger, the Grand Hotel second baseman, contributed a 2-run double in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 3-1, Atoms. For the game, Ediger was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. O'Malley told a Grand Hotel Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Saturday, September 5th , 2308. Game 4: Grand Hotel 10, Orange 5 Almost There: Grand Hotel On Cusp of Season Pass Series Triumph After 10-5 Win Riding the 2-hit performance of third baseman Danny Pineda, the Grand Hotel Atoms stopped the visiting Orange Tourists, 10-5, in Game 4 of the Season Pass Series today. Pineda was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Atoms, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1. Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at Harbor Grand Hotel Grounds seemed to enjoy watching the Vim! League action. "One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Pineda told the Grand Hotel Chronicle. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sunday, September 6th , 2308. Game 5: Orange 10, Grand Hotel 3 Ohnderitz Blasts Atoms, Tourists Take Game 5, 10-3 The Orange Tourists have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Grand Hotel Atoms, winning 10-3 at Harbor Grand Hotel Grounds today. Tourists center fielder Pudding Ohnderitz went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. The win cuts the deficit facing the Tourists to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Season Pass Series. In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Ohnderitz hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead. "It's nice to come out on top today," said Ohnderitz. The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 8th , 2308 at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA in Bradberton. Game 6: Orange 10, Grand Hotel 7 Raucous Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA Crowd Propels Tourists to 10-7 Victory; Series Tied at 3 In a crucial game, the Orange Tourists put on their best show, beating the Grand Hotel Atoms by a final score of 10-7 today. Gladder Questseeker was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Orange and Grand Hotel are now tied at 3 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair. In the bottom of the second inning with one out, Orange pitcher Matt Duty hit a bases-clearing double. It made the score 4-1, Tourists. For the day, Duty threw 2.0 innings allowing 1 runs. "I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Duty said. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Fizztop Mountain Park at Nuka-Town USA in Bradberton. Game 7: Grand Hotel 5, Orange 4 Grand Hotel Takes Season Pass Association Crown It was a storybook year for the Grand Hotel Atoms as they closed out a 4-3 series win over the Orange Tourists to claim the Season Pass Association Championship. They wrapped it up with a 5-4 victory to cap an incredible season after they brought home their 1st league championship earlier in the year. The Atoms manager offered his view of the series. "We had a lot of things going for us," he said, "offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes to win it all." The Tourists manager commented: "We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year. They played better baseball than us and they beat us." During the Vim! League Harbor Division regular season, Grand Hotel compiled a record of 54-36. Playoff Tree

September 2308
BNN Report News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 14 September 2308 CBO Enters Final Week With just five games to go in the 2308 season, there are six teams officially in, 12 teams officially out, and six more teams vying for the final four spots. In the NCA, Salem has clinched the Brotherhood League title. Both Sunshine Tidings and Bunker Hill know they will be in the playoffs, though their seedings are still in doubt. That leaves two more spots among three teams. Let's break down the NCA first. Current Seeds: 1. z-Sunshine Tidings 73-42 2. x-Salem 72-43 3. z-Bunker Hill 72-43 4. Nordhagen Beach 66-49 5. Starlight 67-48 6. Easy Town 64-51 Salem has been cold, dropping them from the top spot, though they know their lowest seed will be #2 in the Hats' first-ever playoff appearance. They were the last team in the CBO to have ever made a playoff appearance. Meanwhile, the Chemists and 75ers are battling for the Minutemen League and the #1 seed in the playoffs, with Sunshine Tidings currently just a game up. Since these are the teas vying for the top three seeds, let's look at their remaining matchups: Salem - vs Bunker Hill, vs The Slog Sunshine Tidings - vs County Crossing, at Starlight Bunker Hill - at Salem, at Lexington Pam's predictions: Salem 3-2, Sunshine Tidings 2-3, Bunker Hill 4-1 Bunker Hill would win the tiebreaker due to run differential, giving them the #1 seed, with Salem at #2 and Sunshine Tidings at #3. For the other two seeds, Nordhagen Beach and Easy Town are battling for 2nd place in the BL, along with an outside shot for both teams to make the playoffs. The Party Boys swept the Assaultrons this past weekend, giving them a clutch series win down the stretch. The Killers could kill the Trons' hopes in the next two days. Remaining schedules: Nordhagen Beach - at Concord, vs County Crossing Starlight - vs Easy Town, vs Sunshine Tidings Easy Town - at Starlight, at Nahant Pam's predictions: Nordhagen Beach 4-1, Starlight 3-2, Easy Town 2-3 Based on Pam's predictions, the Party Boys and Killers will remain as the #4 and #5 seeds, while the Assaultrons will be out of the picture. In the SCA, three teams have also clinched and six teams are still alive for the five spots. Current seeds: 1. z-Oberland 71-44 2. z-Jamaica Plain 67-48 3. z-Vault 81 70-45 4. Spectacle Island 66-49 5. Egret 66-49 6. University Point 61-54 There is a lot to address here, so let us take on the most obvious. University Point needs a lot of help. First of all, the Reapers and Ninjas meet this week. If they split, they are both in. The Deathclaws needs one team to sweep the other and then the losing team gets swept over the weekend. The Claws would also need to win all five. Remaining schedule: University Point - vs Vault 81, vs Quincy Egret - at Spectacle Island, vs Vault 81 Spectacle Island - vs Egret, vs Jamaica Plain Pam's prediction: University Point will not go 5-0, neither Egret nor Spectacle Island will go 0-5. That means, the Deathclaws are out, while the Ninjas and Reapers are in to complete the final five. In the Minutemen League, the Red Rockets lead by a game for the league title. As we showed above the Rockets visit Spectacle Island. Before that, Jamaica Plain visits FHE. Pam's predictions: Jamaica Plain 3-2, Spectacle Island 3-2 That means the Rockets will be the #2 seed and the Reapers will be #4. In the Railroad League, Oberland has a slight lead for the #1 seed, but they also have the easiest opponents of any other team. The T-51s host Goodneighbor and then visit the Yao Guai. Meanwhile, the Dwellers travel to University Point and Egret. Pam's predictions: Oberland 4-1, Vault 81 2-3 Therefore, the T-51s are expected to be the #1 overall seed, with Vault 81 #3 and Egret #5. Current standings:

Though with the vim league winning, and that recent comment about great East Coast seafood, I'll once again say I'm morbidly intrigued by a seafood flavored soda

Jones also makes Fallout sodas too, ironically, and I actually considered buying some recently, but they're a bit pricy. |

Interesting. I guess you can make your own seafood-flavored soda. Just buy your soda of choice, and then put a shot or two of this:

September 2308
News from the CBO, Minors, College, and Youth Leagues
by Nat Wright-Kawolski 22 September 2308 CBO Analysis The regular season went +1 game to break the Institute League tie between Sunshine Tidings and Bunker Hill with the Chemists coming out on top, 14-8, to earn the home-field advantage in what will be a rematch with the 75ers in the NCA Semifinal Round. Otherwise, 10 teams are in, 14 teams are out and preparing for the draft and how to manage their team heading into the offseason. The playoffs seedings: NCA 1. Salem 2. Sunshine Tidings 3. Bunker Hill 4. Nordhagen Beach 5. Starlight Salem did not have a stellar finish in their first-ever trip to the playoffs, but the Witch Hats held on enough to earn home-field advantage throughout the entire playoffs with the CBO's top record. Sunshine Tidings and Bunker Hill finished tied for 1st, and the Chemists took the IL with the win in the extra game. Those two teams now face each other again with the home-field advantage going to Sunshine Tidings. Nordhagen Beach got hot at the end of the season, while Easy Town faded away. The biggest series came at the Assaultrons' home field, where the Party Boys won all three games to take the lead for 2nd place. The Trons were unable to recover, going 2-3 after that series to finish the final week, giving the Boys a Play-in Round matchup with 5th-seed Starlight. SCA 1. Oberland 2. Jamaica Plain 3. Vault 81 4. Spectacle Island 5. Egret Oberland was able to hold off Vault 81 for the Railroad League crown, their first since 2298, and the #1 overall seed. That pushed the Dwellers to the #3 seed where they will face the winners of the Minutemen League, Jamaica Plain, which as only topped by Roxbury in the final two weeks for the best run in the CBO. That means Spectacle Island fell to the 4th seed after going 5-5 in their final 10. They will match up with #5 Egret, a team that shook up the playoffs just three seasons ago as the #4 seed, upsetting #1 Roxbury in the SCA Semifinal Round before succumbing to eventual-champion University Point. The playoffs will look different in the SCA with neither the Deathclaws nor Rad Sox in the playoffs this season. Those two teams have been the representatives of the SCA in the Sole Survivor Series for the past six seasons with four championships, two each, between them. Here are the final team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization: Teams (Total Points, Tendency): 1) Bunker Hill 75ers (121.5, o) 2) Salem Witch Hats (116.0, ++) 3) Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (112.0, o) 4) Starlight Killers (110.5, ++) 5) Sunshine Tidings Chemists (109.5, --) 6) Vault 81 Dwellers (109.0, -) 7) Roxbury Rad Sox (108.5, ++) 8) Oberland T-51s (108.5, --) 9) Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (106.5, -) 10) Spectacle Island Reapers (102.5, -) 11) Egret Ninjas (99.0, --) 12) The Slog Ghouls (95.5, -) 13) Easy Town Assaultrons (93.0, -) 14) University Point Deathclaws (91.5, +) 15) Nahant Celtics (90.5, +) 16) County Crossing Bloodbugs (89.5, -) 17) Quincy Gunners (89.5, -) 18) Atom Cats (73.0, +) 19) Goodneighbor Hancocks (67.5, -) 20) FHE Yao Guai (65.0, +) 21) Lexington Synths (62.0, -) 22) Fort Hagen Silver Shroud (56.5, o) 23) Diamond City Swatters (51.0, o) 24) Concord Radstags (36.0, o) CBO Standings CBO Draft Preview The 2308 Rookie Draft is set for the November selections. Assuming no trades, here are the final Top 10 picks: 1. Concord 2. Fort Hagen 3. Diamond City 4. FHE 5. Lexington 6. Goodneighbor 7. Atom 8t. Country Crossing 8t. Nahant 8t. Quincy Note: All of the Bloodbugs, Celtics, and Gunners finished at 59-61. The order will be determined later for picks 8-10. Here are five more draft picks to preview: 16. 2B David Bloatfly, Marlborough - Bloatfly is a draft-declared junior since he got a late start on his freshman season. He is a heavily-talented kid who has the potential to hit for average and power. However, there are some character concerns that he is hard-headed. He dropped from major productivity in his freshman season where he hit 37 home runs to hitting only 38 combined the past two seasons. While he played at 2B with the Minigunners, he is expected to move to 1B in the pros unless he improves his range. 17. 3B Dell Ware, Taunton - Another draft-declared junior since he will age out, Ware is considered a solid talent. OSA scouts are torn on his abilities, with some having him going in the middle of the 1st round and others dropping him as late as the 3rd round. Ware does not seem to love baseball, but he is an effective hitter and defender. If he finds his love for the game, he could be a gem for a team that takes him. 18. 1B Pockets Wrench, Brockton - A talented hitter but a lousy defender, OSA scouts are also torn on Wrench. He has the build to develop into a power hitter, but he hit only 56 home runs in four seasons with Avon/Brockton. A good hitting coach from a good team in the late 1st is his best landing spot. 19. 3B Lumpy Pumpkinhead, Wellesley - Pumpkinhead is projected to be an elite power hitter in the CBO. He showed that he was growing as a hitter, improving his home run production every season to a career-high 26 in 2308. Pumpkinhead is considered a boom or bust project who needs a good hitting coach to develop to be CBO-ready. 20. SP Spanky Sutherland, Boston Common - Sutherland is a developing pitcher who is long and lanky. He features a 97 top-speed fastball and an effective slider but needs to develop his changeup and sinker more. He seems to tire fast, being much less efficient in the 2nd and 3rd times through lineups, so he needs to work on his stamina in the minors where he may need a few years to develop. He could be similar to a top prospect in the CBO, Pokey Chatman of Salem, who has been in the GBRL for three years, but is considered a top pitcher prospect who will be able to find success in the CBO one day. MML Playoffs Braintree Sweeps Everett With a 4-3 win over the Everett Mutant Hounds at Eagles Park today, the Braintree Robobrains wrapped up their 1st title in team history. The Robobrains left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game. "Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Braintree manager Lance Cournoyer. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void." A jovial mood filled the air as Braintree celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order. "I hope they have a big celebration," Everett manager Drac Jaskula said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it." BMU Playoffs The Mystic Pines Raybathers ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Forest Grove Pugilists 4-1 to win the Boston Minor Series. Mystic Pines won the series 3-2, capturing the title for the 2nd time. "We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Mystic Pines manager Devon Museum. "It's a great feeling." The champs finished the regular season 57-31 and claimed first place in the Commonwealth Association Cambridge League. In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and second baseman Moby Dick Harborman said the Raybathers have "great fans and they deserve this." "I am so happy for our city right now," he said. GBRL Playoffs It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious Lynn Woods Bloatflies, that meant the Greater Boston Rookie League Rookie Series trophy. The Bloatflies took a 2-1 victory over the Greater Mass Vans at Kauffman Stadium, winning their 1st championship after taking the series 3-2. "We've got grit," said Bloatflies right fielder Mugsy Bowden, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to." The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the North League Northeast Division and a 51-37 record.

You know, tip of the hat to the Boys. We thought they were going to slide like our other favorites when this new era sort of time started, but they've hung on to playoff apperances.

2308 CBO Playoffs
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 23 September 2308 CBO Playoff Tree CBO Playoff Play-In Series Preview NCA Playoffs - #5 Starlight Killers (71-49) vs #4 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys (69-51) Season Series Starlight 5, Nordhagen Beach 3 May 2-3 @NB: Star 8-4, Star 6-1 May 5-6 @Star: NB 4-0, NB 5-2 Aug 4-5 @Star: Star 4-3, Star 7-4 Aug 11-12 @NB: NB 4-3, Star 9-6 Analysis Starlight returns to the Play-in Series for the third straight season. The Killers have not won the Institute League in their history, but this is their 6th playoff appearance. It is also the lowest seed they have had in their six appearances. Just two seasons ago, these two teams met, with the #5 Nordhagen Beach sweeping the Killers in the Play-in Series. For the Party Boys, they are in their 11th straight playoff appearance and coming off a championship season as the #3 seed a year ago. The Killers were a good all-around team and could be a threat as the #5 seed in the playoffs. They finished 3rd in both runs scored (627) and runs allowed (502). However, their number of runs scored was due to generated runs, including the top stolen bases number (63), despite being 8th in average (.263) and OPS (.769). The star on offense is of course 1B Oren Gep (.293/35/99). Other standout hitters include SS Nick Maris (.324/16/77), RF Hurr Lee Reyes (.306/17/65), and LF Glenn Higinbotham (.244/20/68). Pitching benefited more from the Bullpen (2nd at 3.57) than the Starters (5th at 4.22). SP Digger Vadim (12-9, 4.80) did not have a good season overall. He'll be joined in the starting rotation by SP Bill Sarnacki (16-6, 3.41) and rookie SP Shaak Ti (15-10, 3.64). SP Whokill Poole (11-11, 4.87), who struggled the most, has been relegated ot the bullpen. The bullpen is led by CL Ryan Mills (25 SV, 3.30). Other top contributors included RP Closecall Jones (4-2, 2.27), RP Sam Molina (5-5, 3.48), and RP Capstone Goofson (3-0, 2.51). Nordhagen Beach had a good season despite entering the playoffs with the 5th-best record, something that does not fully make sense. The Party Boys finished 2nd in runs scored (634), including being tops in average (.282), OBP (.361), and WAR (25.0). MVP candidate, CF Maxx Murtagh (.319/37/92) was a true force along with star RF Jonathan Angelou (.265/44/107). The Boys were only 6th in home runs (165) but still had four other players with over 10 home runs: LF Young Goodman (19), 1B Bryan Assman (14), 3B Aaron Sinn (13), and 2B Jumper Hayes (13). C Biter Trout (.358/5/61) won the batting title. The Boys were also 2nd in runs allowed (482) with the 2nd-best Starters ERA (3.81) and 7th-best Bullpen ERA (4.49). Star SPs, Beachboy Nut (17-4, 2.77) and Ugio Church (16-7, 2.92), dominated all season and could be the reason why Nordhagen Beach could advance far in the playoffs. SP Deedee Martinson (14-10, 4.39) is the third starter. Outside of three pitchers with sub-4,00 ERAs, RP Ted Iam (3.86), RP Derek Gist (2.61), and Marc Woodsman (2.40), the bullpen struggled at times, especially starter David "AntAgonist" Kidd (25 SV, 6.14) who went 6-7 and had six blown saves, which was actually down from 2307. Prediction We cannot see the Party Boys being out of the running until they are out. Starlight is trying to get over the hump, but we do not believe they can do it this time. Boys 2, Killers 1. SCA Playoffs - #5 Egret Ninjas (68-52) vs #4 Spectacle Island Reapers (69-51) Season Series Spectacle Island 6, Egret 2 May 5-6 @Egr: Egr 9-5, SI 5-3 August 11-12 @SI: SI 6-3, SI 9-3 September 8-9 @Egr: SI 6-2, Egr 8-2 September 15-16 @SI: SI 7-1, SI 4-3 Analysis Egret is making just its third-ever playoff appearance and second in the full CBO. In 2305, they also played in the Play-in Round, winning that series and then upsetting the #1 Rad Sox in the next round before losing the SCA Championship Series to eventual champions, University Point. Spectacle Island is making its 5th playoff appearance, including its third straight as the Reapers. Last season, they were the 5th seed, winning the Play-In Series before losing to Roxbury in the next round. The Ninjas were in the middle of the pack in most offensive series, including 6th in runs scored (599). Power production was little for Egret as 10th in home runs (102). LF Jesus Church (.313/13/71) led the team in home runs. He was also one of three batters who hit over .300, including 2B Justin Tootles (.338), CF Pockets Aintfull (.315), and RF Rick Pickle (.308). Egret was much more successful on the mound, allowing 524 runs (4th) with the 3rd-best Starters ERA (4.14) and 7th-best Bullpen ERA (4.41). SP Tup Mallory (15-8, 3.84) and SP Max Grove (12-10, 3.65) had successful seasons, including SP Matt Nielsen (12-11, 3.94) who will be in the bullpen for the playoffs. SP/OF Admiral Kelm (13-11, 5.18) will be the 3rd starter in the playoffs. In the bullpen, RP Chief Edwards (4-1, 1.61) had the best season. CL Midnight Flowers (28 SV, 4.02) struggled some. Spectacle Island was much better on offense than Egret, including finishing 3rd in runs scored (652). The Reapers' 2nd-7th hitters all had good seasons: LF Waze Waiting (.313/22/73), 3B Diamond Ball (.367/35/90), 1B Homestay Lovetap (.315/51/106), SS Pipewrench Mathis (.266/17/57), RF Matt Basile (.264/42/94), and C Ayag Mour (.249/16/56). For pitching, the Reapers were 6th in runs allowed (563), Starters ERA (4.73), and Bullpen ERA (4.17). SP Chris Teddybear (15-9, 3.85) is the ace. Interestingly, SP Justin Sumbich (15-8, 3.86), who tied for the team lead in wins, will be moved to the closer role for the playoffs, according to reports. Therefore, the other two starters will be Corey Ware (11-12, 5.74) and Jonathan Newman (10-12, 5.45). The two closers, Alien Mars (20 SV, 2.68) and Ghost Kyudalson (12 SV, 5.04) will help Sumbich in the bullpen. Prediction We have one big question about the pitching decisions Spectacle Island is making. We would have no qualms about picking the Reapers to sweep. Instead, the Ninjas may have a fighting chance to take this series. In the end, we just think the Reapers' lineup is too talented to tame. Spectacle Island 2, Egret 0.

They have been to the Sole Survivor Series 4 of the past 7 seasons, so they are definitely yearly contenders. Like some of the other teams that have fallen off, though, once their stars start to age out, they will not have enough in their farm system to sustain them. In other words, their fall will be sooner than later.

An exciting and different looking playoff field this season. Not sure how it's going to shake out. Hoping the Red Rockets stay hot but something tells me Sunshine Tidings will really use that play-in win to their advantage. Should be exciting!

BNN Report News from the CBO, MML, BMU, GBRL, and Youth Leagues by Nat Wright-Kawolski 25 September 2308 NCA Play-in Series Game 1 - Starlight 7, Nordhagen Beach 5 Road Win Lifts Starlight to 1-0 Lead in PiS With center fielder Willy Mazehaze leading the charge, the Starlight Killers got a road win over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 7-5, in Game 1 of the Play-in Series today. Mazehaze went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium to help Starlight take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series. The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Mazehaze delivered big-time for Starlight, stroking a dramatic 2-run double off David AntAgonist Kidd. The game-changing hit put the Killers on top, 7-5. "I like our moxie," said Killers manager Austin Shuler. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium in Winthrop. Game 2 - Starlight 3, Nordhagen Beach 0 Killers Win Play-in Series With a 3-0 win to wrap up the series at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium, the Starlight Killers have eliminated the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys in the Play-in Series and move on to the Association Semifinal. SCA Play-in Series Game 1 - Spectacle Island 5, Egret 4 Home Field Advantage: Teddybear, Spectacle Island Open Play-in Series with Win The Spectacle Island Reapers powered past the visiting Egret Ninjas, 5-4, in the opener of the Play-in Series at Drumlin Diner Park today. Spectacle Island starting pitcher Chris Teddybear threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs, to lead the charge. The Reapers now lead the series 1-0. Waze Waiting, who finished 4th in the SCA in runs with 90 in 2301, aided the Spectacle Island cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. "We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Teddybear. The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Drumlin Diner Park in Spectacle Island. Game 2 - Spectacle Island 10, Egret 4 Reapers Heading to Association Semifinal With a 10-4 victory at Drumlin Diner Park, the Spectacle Island Reapers have completed a sweep of the Egret Ninjas in the Play-in Series. For the series, Mathis hit .500 and won series MVP honors. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Spectacle Island Reapers will play against the Oberland T-51s in the next round. Oberland had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Association Semifinal schedule will be announced after the Play-in Series finishes.

Well, this could be Jamaica Plain's year. They are the most playoff-experienced (with some success) team left. The eight teams left have combined for ZERO Sole Survivor Series appearances since the merge in 2298. Oberland won the SSS in 2297.

2308 CBO Playoffs
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 23 September 2308 CBO Playoff Tree CBO Playoff Association Semifinal Preview NCA Playoffs - #5 Starlight Killers (71-49) vs #1 Salem Witch Hats (76-44) Season Series Salem 4, Starlight 4 April 23-24 @Star: Star 6-1, Star 9-5 May 12-13 @Sal: Sal 4-2, Sal 6-5 September 1-2 @Sal: Star 7-5, Sal 7-6 September 8-9 @Star: Sal 7-4, Star 14-0 Analysis Usually, we begin the analysis with a look at each team's playoff history. Since we do a full preview of the Play-in Series, in this round we typically feature just the #1 seed. Well, Salem is unique as a #1 seed because they are making their first playoff appearance in the 13th season of organized professional baseball in the Commonwealth. They have a 0-0 record and a roster with little playoff experience. They are the noobs. What we have not been able to figure out is how Salem is the #1 seed in the playoffs. Their statistics do not match their success. Except for a couple of tidbits: they were good in close games. In one-run games, the Hats were 22-10. They were 11-3 in extra-innings games; Salem was 1-1 versus the Killers in those games. On offense, the Witch Hats ranked 5th in runs scored (605) thanks in part to finishing 2nd in home runs (185). The Hats' top four hitters are all boomers: 2B Michael Hoopring (.312/29/69), 1B Needham Tickler (.280/33/86), RF Brian DeLong (.290/24/66), and LF Dan Erb (.315/26/73). CF Andy Dogleash (.295/14/59) contributed. For pitching, the Hats finished 6th in runs allowed (535), including 4th in Starters ERA (4.09) and 8th in Bullpen ERA (4.55). All three of the playoff starters had an ERA of 4.00 or less: SP Jaa Thirtysix (13-7, 3.74), SP Bry McBourbon (15-9, 3.71), and SP Chase Wede (12-13, 4.00). In the bullpen, CL Justin Wilkerson (39 SV, 2.85) with good support from RP Ben Huber (8-0, 3.65). Prediction The playoffs tend to be the time when pitchers take over, which seems to favor Salem for its close-game success. However, we think Starlight is actually the better team. Killers 3, Hats 2 NCA Playoffs - #3 Bunker Hill 75ers (75-46) vs #2 Sunshine Tidings (76-45) Season Series Bunker Hill 7, Sunshine Tidings 6 June 5-7 @BH: BH 5-2, BH 3-2, ST 6-3 June 26-28 @ST: ST 6-1, ST 10-4, BH 3-1 July 24-26 @BH: BH 4-2, BH 10-1, BH 8-7 August 28-30 @ST: BH 7-4, ST 4-3, ST 4-2 September 21 @BH: ST 14-8 Analysis These two teams are evenly matched in 2308, though they have taken a different path to get here. For Bunker Hill, this is their third-ever playoff appearance and first since they moved from Abernathy to Bunker Hill. As the #4 seed in 2296, the Abernathy Adamantium advanced to the semifinals before losing to eventual champions, The Slog, three games to zero. Sunshine Tidings, on the other hand, started as a bad franchise but worked their way up and now are in their sixth-straight playoff appearance and sixth overall. The Chemists also won the Institute League for the 5th-straight season after disposing of Bunker Hill in the tiebreaker game. For the 75ers, they have been an improved team but have proven to be incapable of making any dominant runs. Part of their struggles comes from offense where they finished 6th in runs scored (591). They were 4th in home runs (174) with six players hitting double digits and four with 20 or more home runs: 1B Matt Stickhouse (32), SS Aaron Squire (22), CF Jig McGhee (20), and LF Donny Kowalski (20). Their pitching was 4th in runs allowed (510) with the 3rd-best Starters ERA (4.08) and 4th-best Bullpen ERA (4.27). All four of their starters hovered around their team average with the playoff starters doing the best: Jason Tonelli (15-9, 4.11), Max Thunderdome (18-7, 4.04), and Mike Cartrette (9-7, 4.05). CL Rafe Sauce (36 SV, 3.65) led the bullpen, though most of the pen allowed an ERA of 4.00 or more. For Sunshine Tidings, the pick to win the Sole Survivor Series by PAM in her midseason prediction, they appear to be baseball's best team. On offense, the Chemists were 1st in runs scored (677) and home runs (220). Six of their lineup hit 20 or more home runs: 3B Ross Merchantman (45), SS Lernz Tentsleep (40), 1B Dusty Brownell (29), RF Baktu DaWell (28), CF Ricky Ticky Laughy (.201/24/55), and C Red Sone (20). The Chemists also were 1st in the NCA in runs allowed (460), Starters ERA (3.76), and Bullpen ERA (3.22). Manager Art Clarke had to make a tough decision about the three-man rotation, selecting Eugene Gym (17-9, 3.59), Mike Rubric (15-12, 4.44), and Joey Dimes (16-8, 3.42) over Brian Bridges (16-7, 3.41), who will be designated to the bullpen despite leading the team in ERA and being considered the second-best talent of the pitchers. CL Cush Baker (28 SV, 3.13) is the leader of the bullpen, complimented by an excellent year by RP Kamal Singleton (2-1, 0.95). Prediction Bunker Hill will be a contender for years to come. However, the Chemists appear that they are ready to get over the hump this season. Maybe the 75ers will take a game in this series, maybe not. We'll vote not. Sunshine Tidings 3, Bunker Hill 0

I feel like we jinxed the Boys.
Also with this recent resurgence of the Franchise, Vault 81 is a location I find myself liking quite a bit. For the purposes of your Dynasty I always rated them below-average, probably the team interplay bias nothing story wise bias, but I think I've warmed up again to them recently because they're one of the most 'out of the box' nice settlements to live in. |

2308 CBO Playoffs
BNN Weekly Report This Week in the CBO, BMU, and GBRL by Nat Wright-Kawolski 24 September 2308 CBO Playoff Association Semifinal Preview SCA Playoffs - #5 Spectacle Island Reapers (69-51) vs #1 Oberland T-51s (73-47) Season Series Oberland 4, Spectacle Island 4 April 29-30 @SI: Obe 5-4, SI 4-2 May 12-13 @Obe: Obe 6-1, SI 7-1 July 7-8 @SI: SI 3-2, SI 7-6 August 4-5 @Obe: Obe 4-3, Obe 7-4 Analysis Oberland returns to the playoffs for the second-straight season, this time as the #1 overall seed, after an eight-year absence from 2299-2306. The T-51s approached the 2296 Inaugural Draft by picking seasoned players ready to win games. After winning the Sole Survivor Series in 2297 over Nordhagen Beach, though, the T-51s lost their squad that got them there and started to build through the draft and acquisitions of other teams' prospects. It paid off, making Oberland built to win for some time to come though they have acquired some veterans to get them there as of late. During the regular season, Oberland and Spectacle Island matched up well with each team going 3-1 at home, and the T-51s outscoring the Reapers 33-32 in their eight matchups. On offense, Oberland was good at getting people on base, including finishing 1st in average (.288) but they were not as good at driving them in, finishing 5th in runs scored (622). One player who was amazing at getting on base and driving in runs was RF Orcin Cardinal (.326/42/122), the CBO's leader in RBI. Other key contributors include SS Stormin Normin MacDonald (.353/23/70), 1B Chase Doctorman (.259/26/64), LF/SP Zaire Inquisitor (.287/20/52), and 2B Da Game (.308/13/72). The pitching was the strongest part of the T-51s game, finishing 1st in both runs allowed (460) and Starters ERA (3.63) and 3rd in Bullpen ERA (3.87). All three playoff starters--Emperry Alizm (18-8, 2.77), Mesquite Williams (13-8, 3.78), and Trolley Dodge (12-9, 3.78)--are capable of taking over games. CL William Butcherman (28 SV, 1.89) may be the best in the game, flanked by RP Dan Beantown (7-6, 3.19) and Inquisitor (7-3, 3.92) who started 14 games for the T-51s. Prediction Oberland does not have much playoff experience, but neither does Spectacle Island. As it stands, we think that Oberland is rightfully the top team in the SCA, so we're picking them to win this one in close fashion. Oberland 3, Spectacle Island 2 SCA Playoffs - #3 Vault 81 Dwellers (72-48) vs #2 Jamaica Plain Red Rockets (70-50) Season Series Jamaica Plain 5, Vault 81 3 April 23-24 @V81: V81 7-5, V81 3-2 May 12-13 @JP: JP 5-4, JP 7-3 July 7-8 @V81: JP 15-7, V81 4-3 August 4-5 @JP: JP 4-2, JP 3-1 Analysis Vault 81 is making its fifth trip to the playoffs and second since 2306 when they surprised everyone to earn the #1 seed in the playoffs before succumbing to Roxbury in the SCA Championship Series. This season, they come in as the #3 seed, but they may have a better shot than they did in 2306 to win a title. Jamaica Plain has been in the playoffs 8 of the past 9 seasons. In those previous seven seasons, they have gone as far as the SCA Championship Series three times, but fell all three years, including last season to Roxbury in six games. This season, they come in a topsy-turvy year where both the Rad Sox and University Point are out, which will break a six-year spell of those two teams representing the SCA in the Sole Survivor Series. For the Dwellers, they never were able to dominate in any one area, though they were above average in everything. On offense, they finished 4th in runs scored (627) led by star 2B Harry Byrd (.328/24/79). Other top contributors include CF Stu Gains (.292/32/86), RF Joe Rathmann (.272/20/58), and SS End Yamada (.278/17/68). The Vault 81 pitching was also decent but not spectacular, finishing 5th in runs allowed (548), 4th in Starters ERA (4.26), and 8th in Bullpen ERA (4.70). First-year Dweller ace pitcher Scruffy Taguchi (11-12, 4.24) struggled the most and also having his third-straight season of over a 4.00 ERA since leaving Atom for Fort Hagen in 2306. The other three SPs more than made up for Taguchi's struggles, especially last season's ace, Exxie Summerset (18-6, 3.12) who set the CBO wins record (22) just two seasons ago. SP Ryan Downing (13-10, 3.96) will be the third playoffs starter with SP Ryan Goodpryce (14-7, 4.06) moving to the bullpen. CL Chris Salazar (30 SV, 3.79) was tied for the SCA lead in saves with the Rocket's Doug Dee El. Jamaica Plain may have a lower record thanks to a tougher league, but they performed better statistically. The Rockets finished 2nd in the SCA in runs scored (660) and 3rd in home runs (183). LF Ken Debate (.312/46/115) was a large part of that success, as was SS Jake Doucette (.314/23/68), 2B Bulleye Shooterson (.281/23/67), and 1B Hazmatt Zuniga (.329/26/76). The Red Rockets were also 2nd in runs allowed (497) with the 5th-best Starters ERA (4.31) and best Bullpen ERA (3.34). Like the Dwellers, the Rockets' ace struggled: SP Derek Green (14-10, 4.41) who had the highest ERA since his 2298 rookie season (4.95) with the Silver Shroud. His 164 career wins is the best in the CBO, though, so he is always a threat to dominate. The other playoff starters are SP/RP Glenn Patnode (7-4, 3.19) and SP Dobbie Radoncis (13-7, 4.26). SPs Chris Deathclaw (9-10, 4.61) and Tim Fusion (10-6, 3.91) will move to the bullpen for the playoffs. As mentioned, Dee El (3.36) tied for the SCA lead in saves and RP Rob O'Cop (6-3, 1.71) emerged as a force after becoming a full-time bullpen pitcher since last season. Prediction Jamaica Plain took the season series, including winning all four home games. They look primed to win a championship, and we do not see the Dwellers putting up enough of a fight to stop it. We're taking the Rockets in four: Jamaica Plain 3, Vault 81 1
