Looking for Daniel Adams 1914 and Moxie Manual 1905

I'm looking for a photo of Daniel "Rube" Adams, who played with the Kansas City Federals in their two seasons (1914 and 1915). There is a head shot on Baseball Reference, but I was trying to find the original photo, or at least a larger version of the head shot.

I'm also looking for Moxie Manual, who debuted in 1905 with Washington and then played with the White Sox in 1908.

Neither seem to show up in a search of the posts here.

Thanks in advance!

Daniel Adams 1914

Adams appears in two group shots with the Packers. In the top photo, he is third from the left in the middle row (the source of the Baseball-Reference.com image), and in the bottom photo, he is sixth from the left. I've also included a better-quality image of just the left half of the bottom photo.

Moxie Manuel 1905

The image of Manuel in a Chicago uniform is in poor condition, but perhaps can be cleaned up. He also appeared in a Washington uniform on the far right (standing) in the group photo.

Moxie Manuel 1905

This was Moxie's card from the Jewish Major Leaguers Card Set, produced by Martin Abramowitz in 2003.

Tom (Fred) Walden 1912

Thomas Fred Walden appeared in one game for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1912. According to the article in the St. Louis Globe-Democrat the next day, manager George Stovall was so hard up for catchers he started Lou Criger, "who has not caught in a game for months." In the eight inning, Stovall pinch hit for Criger, and "Tom Walden, a local amateur, had to go behind the bat."

Tom Walden was Thomas Fred Walden. Given that all the references I found for him were either Tom or Tommy, I'm not sure who decided he should be referred to as Fred, but whatever. Walden signed with Dallas in the Texas League before the season started, but was sold to Fort Worth prior to the season starting. I have found at least one box score with his name in it playing for Fort Worth in the St. Louis papers. Once he came back to St. Louis, he played for the St. Louis Typos, a club of newspaper printers, which competed in a local league, but also annually in a national tournament of printers clubs. The won that tournament at least once in the 1910s, and Walden was on that club (I think).

In 1913, Tom played for the St. Louis Federals for a stretch, where again it was noted he played for the Typos. He worked as a printer for the Post-Dispatch and played for the Typos for many years after his brief excursion into professional baseball. In 1927, he managed the club.

He is pictured in a photo of the team in the August 8, 1926 St. Louis Globe-Democrat, back row, third from the left. I'm trying to determine if Benny Mertens is in fact Jack Mertens, another member of the 1913 St. Louis Federal club, who played for the club under the name Jack Collins.

Perhaps someone can run the image through the magic program. (One day I'll download it and figure out how to use it.) But this is an improvement over his image on Baseball-Reference, that's for sure.

Addendum: There is a slightly better version of this photo in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch from August 22, 1926 (pg. 19).

Here's another option for Kilroy, pictured with the 1892 Providence Grays. The team photo was printed in the 5/13/1892 edition of The Providence News.

Jim Lewis 1979

The first of a couple of obscure Yankees of the 1980's. These two images are from the bottomless pit that is Kyle's Sportscards on eBay, with a lot of clean-up that really boosts the images, although they're slightly too blue.

Lewis pitched once for New York, on June 6, 1982. Nine batters. As usual the prints have a hand-written date on the back, so these are from Spring Training in Ft. Lauderdale, 1981.

Roger Holt 1980

Here's two game Yankees' infielder Roger Holt (October 4-5, 1980).

Took this one myself that September. Here, the blue is correct: the New York pre-game shirts of that era (they were introduced in midseason, 1980) were a different color than the caps, undershirts, and pinstripes.

Expos 1969-2004, what's your source for these older B/W pictures, if I might ask?

Born in the province of Quebec in 1954, I discovered baseball in 1962 (Yankees and Elston Howard fan.) In 1969 the Expos played their first game. I followed them from the start until the sad ending in 2004. Six years ago I began purchasing Expos stuff on eBay (cards and magazines mostly). I started a picture collection of every player on the Expos all-time roster. Some help came when I found this magazine published in 1979. It contains a photo and a small resume of every player who played at least a game for the team. If the magazine is complete, it comes with a poster featuring all the players (B/W headshots) to this date.

Unfortunately, this good idea was forgotten after that. So, no special number of this kind for the other decades. I will be able to help a little bit for 1979 and after but some names on Pegasus27 UIN list are also on my want list.

Thanks for the picture. I will place it in my "prospects" file (never played a game but could have...)
So in working on a 1970 project, I wound up needing Ken Johnson as an Expo, and a number of years ago Merkle, I believe it was, pointed out there were still no known such images. Then I happened across this post. It reminded me that I have a 1982 Expos yearbook which also has a large poster folded inside of all Expo players, coaches and managers through the 1982 season. And there, of course on a crease, was Ken Johnson. It looks like an authentic image.

I don't know whether 1979 poster features this same image or not, but as I could find no evidence of it being posted here previously, here is Ken Johnson as an Expo....

Remini app

Thanks for the samples of what the Remini app can do for blurry photos. I own a large number of photos from the Brace collection, and as we all know George never did get the focus and clarity of photography in many of his pics. A white whale of mine has always been a full body or even thigh high image of Don Wilson wearing the 1971 orange uniform and also the 1972-74 orange zip ups. I tried the app and here are the results.

This is the Hartford Courant photo of Carbo's 1980 farewell cameo with the Pirates originally posted here https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...ostcount=32992 by Terry D., along with what the app did it with it.

A little experiment to see if I could minimize some of the residual "half-tone" dots:

Loaded the original (pre-remini) in Photoshop elements. Reduced the image size to 25% of the original. Applied a 1.5 pixel gaussian blur. Uploaded that to Remini and ran two passes. Each pass doubles the size so resultant image should be same size as the original. The "P" on the cap is a bit wonky but the face came out pretty good.
