Just add a Mets L to the list. It's only the top 2nd and I am already wishing to be lobotomized just to make the pain end.

Second straight day these teams play like a flock of juvenile raccoons that overengorged on fermented peaches and are now drifting face down in a puddle at the bottom of the dumpster.

And if somebody doesn't get Alvarez off his ******* knee, I'm gonna ******* snap.

OTOH, I was blacked out of Braves-Cats by MLBN, since I've yet to flee to Mississippi or wherever and so remain "local" to Atlanta, a mere 310 km away. A sneeze, I tell you! I can smell the Falcons from here!

This meant that I was pushed to the alter-Nate channel, where various people named Nate watched 'dians-Twinkies. Alas, that game didn't start until 2 PM ET, so by the time the Tribe had picked up their W, we were already showing Mets-Nats on the regular channel, and they kept me locked on the other ("Regional Coverage is Blacked Out on this Channel") and just fed me the ****ing Lindor documentary, "Behind the Smile". Personally, I don't need to see Frankie's behind smile at me…

Took them over an hour to correct the fork-up. We now join Terrible Mets Baseball in the top of the 8th, with Dickie Lovelady on the mound, who presumably doesn't smile at Lindor's behind, either. Sheesh.

Doesn't feel like fielding, won't slide, but will totally engage in some idiotic statspadding with that double steal that takes the bat away from Pete so that Nimmo and Marte can strike out with the bases loaded and the game goes to extras.

Must be great to be settled for life unto the seventh generation. You can just leave your brain at home when you leave for work...

********.

Aargh. They came back in the eighth and ninth innings, only to lose in the 11th. Soto, with auto-runner on second and two outs, struck out looking. The ball was a strike, on the outside lower corner, a great pitch. Oh well.

To be fair, Mr. 765 showed far more panache gracefully scooping the empty air in the 2nd than Cedy Mullins did watching the winning In-the-Park HR pinball past him in the 11th. And surely panache is part of what we're paying for, n'est-ce-pas?

Albeit I could do without the 2006 Voltron impression…

And so the Mets remain the only team out of the 30 not to have won a single, solitary game all season where they trailed heading into the 9th. Consistency…the hallmark of a winner, right?

I want to say that baseball isn't fair when the other team gets catches like Young's, but the Mets have been playing like they're blind, deaf, and dumb for three solid days, and I have no ground to complain from.

Y'know, nothing says "playoff drive" like dropping 2 out 3. At home. To the Gnats.

Error by Lindor.
Error by Alonso
Mental error (attempted statspadding) by Soto
Mental error (blanking out) by Mullins
Mental error (losing temper) by Vientos

Playoff form!

(I won't cry about Young playing good baseball. I hope he inspires us to follow suit.)

Yeah, I am not complaining about Young having had a showcase in centerfield at all.

My complaints were all about the blue team.

Blue in the face.

Mets at Cubs tonight on TBS.

I swear, I was actually rooting for them to show Tigers-Tribe instead.

I really cannot wait to see another 14 seasons of So-So "defense" in RF. The contrast with the efforts of PC-A and Suzuki was…instructive, to say the least.

David Peterson still hasn't found what he's looking for, to paraphrase U2.

And I don't know if I'm more angry at Squirrel for throwing that "hospital pass" to Polar Pete, or at Pete for not stretching for it.

But the bats saved our bacon. Congrats to Mr. Pointy for his career highs in HR and RBI.

Albeit I am almost resentful at the thought that people might see Boom-Boom going boom-boom-boom-siddown! to various Scrubs and wonder wtf we've been talking about lo, these many years…

ESPn tonight. (Oh, joy…but maybe Ravech will have a decent game.)

Moving this from MLB thread, since this pure Uncle Stevie's Dream Team business, but…

…36-52 since June 12?? That's over half a season of .409090909090909 ball! Do that for a full year, and finish 66-96!

Does this team look as though it should be playing anywhere near 66-96 ball?? If everybody other than the players and broadcasters aren't fired at season's end (barring miracles), I will…rage impotently, as usual.

But I will REALLY MEAN IT! I swear.

(Yes, yes, the pitching sucks. But not 66-96 sucks. Play 20 seasons with this team hands-off in OOTP, I can't imagine having a 36-52 stretch. This is on Boy Genius, methinks. And his assorted clowns.)

Look, I see the potential in Jonah Tong (and it's not as if we're drowning in alternatives), but perhaps we should not start him in important games for a while.

Say, until his balls drop? (And I don't mean his sinker.)

Doesn't look like young Jonah is gonna get another start until April anyway.

Nor, apparently is Manaearhea, who despite that nickname was, I thought, our starter for Saturday. Wtf is Moron Mendoza doing burning him in relief? The game was gone, so long gone that Soto hit a Strawberry Special. Make Holmes eat another inning, who cares if he absorbs some more runs?

Now instead of going McLean, Sproat, Manaea, Peterson, we seem to be going McLean, Sproat, random volunteers, forfeit. Geez.

Also, it would be nice if ESPinheads would layoff of Vientos for his "error". Yes, he threw a one-hopper, but Pete's supposed to be able to get those. Dave Concepcion gets HoF votes for those throws. Sigh.

McLean was good, but not great, and became the first Mets starter to whiff more than ten batters this year (!!), but also gave up three homers for a pawful of runs. Thankfully he picked the one day a week where the offense strikes early and often, and got the 8-5 W.

Half a game up in the standings.

Yeah, I know, it's a full game in the standings, but thanks to the stupid tie-breaker rules they can't afford to drop that game to the Reds. Hence, half a game.

I will DIE on that hill.

Hoping the Brewers are in full rest-the-starters mode against Cincy.
