Steve White 1912

White appeared in 2/3 of an inning for Washington in 1912. He was still the recipient of a nice uniformed photo printed in the 6/2/1912 edition of The Washington Herald.

Jack Barnett 1907

This image is from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch of July 28, 1907. The paper consistently called the outfielder "Burnett", but this is definitely Barnett in his only major league season.

Willis "Kid" Butler 1907
The image on the left is from the St. Louis Globe Democrat, June 13, 1907, and the image on the right (showing Butler in profile) is from the St. Louis Post Dispatch, February 17, 1907. Butler appeared in 20 games for the Browns in 1907, his only major league season.

I see Dan Dumoulin's name & I think to myself 'A color pic of Dave Wallace with the Blue Jays has to be out there somewhere.'

Reason to give thanks? Or just another false lead?

Someone posted this here, I think, a long time ago in response to my request - I don't THINK it's a colorization. It came from a Blue Jays year book or magazine, and I adopted it as part of my 1978 project. You're welcome to chop it up and use it if it meets your needs. Not to say I still wouldn't want to replace it with a nice TV vault, image, but you know the chances of THAT at this point....

On the topic of 1978 whales, there are a few, but I'm convinced most are hiding out there someplace. I do think 2 are likely never to be found - Horacio Pina with the Phillies and Cito Gaston with the PIrates.

Yup....saw that on a search on this forum & located what Cusick had posted. It's good & I guess like you, I was waiting on something in color other than that headshot one. Same of Alfredo Griffin with Indians. There are some colorized B&W ones out there, but no color ones apparently.... gosh do I miss the weekly Vault file dumps....

Harry Betts 1903

The Facepack and Baseball Reference image for Betts actually pictures Huck Betts. I only had time to do a quick search with this rather poor photo from the 4/23/1904 edition of the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin being all I could find of the real Betts. He attended Christian Brothers College in St. Louis in 1902 and 1903 so if someone finds the yearbook for that he should be in it. It's also possible the Betts listed in the 1904 Newburg, NY team photo in the Spalding Guide could be him but I couldn't confirm it.

** Thanks to prewinter's lead, Betts is pictured in a family portrait on Ancestry. I'll forward this to Baseball-Reference.

There is a photo of Harold Matthew Betts and his family on Ancestry.com in one of the family trees. Judging from the age of the youngest of the three boys pictured, it was probably taken in the 1915-1917 time frame.

While the scan of the Newburg Team Photo isn't great, the profile generally matches the Ancestry.com photo.

It's not as clear a photo of George Tomer but how could I not post this local Iowa legend standing next to Babe Ruth. There's also a nice write-up on him courtesy of his hometown historical society.

Gary Thomasson - Oakland 1978

Nothing huge, but I know of only one other image of Thomasson with Oakland (apart from whatever images exist in the McWilliams collection). This one is now on eBay.

Still nothing in the wild in color (which probably is the source of his inscription on the photo here), but at least there's 2 B&Ws to choose from now.

Charlie Hickman - 1902 Red Sox

I've been searching for an image of Hickman with Boston for quite a while, and I just discovered this - clipped from a team portrait in the Boston Post, May 18, 1902.

George Crosby 1884

Came across this randomly this evening in the San Francisco Examiner of April 6, 1887 - a writeup about George W. Crosby, with a description of his heroics winning a game on Decoration Day in Chicago in 1884.
