August 16th-August 22nd
August 16th, 2027: I sent Daylen Lile to AAA to begin a rehab assignment. Despite not playing in almost a month, he still leads the NL in steals with 28.
Juan Ramirez was named NL Player of the Week. He hit .444 with 3 homers and 10 RBI's. He's hitting .279 with 9 homers and 40 RBI's with 61 runs scored on the season. Down in AAA, 1B Spencer Jones won Player of the Week, hitting .429 with 4 homers and 12 RBI's. He's hitting .268 with 21 homers and 65 RBI's on the year. We're all the way up to #1 in the Power Rankings! At 72-45, we're now just 2 games behind the Phillies. We opened the series in Kansas City with Steve Paustian (9-6, 3.00 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Christopher A. Reynolds (5-9, 4.63 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). It was a pitching duel, and we escaped with a 2-1 victory. Paustian tossed a gem, 7 innings with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers got the hold, 1.2 innings with 2 hits and 3 strikeouts. Victor Arano got a two pitch fly out to end the game and earn the save. We only had three games, and none bigger then Mac Horvath's two run homer in the 8th. Eric Kisela and Juan Ramirez were both 1-for-4, but Ramirez stole a base. August 17th, 2027: We looked to stay hot with Luis Ardon (9-7, 3.07 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) taking on Axsel Jimenez (3-3, 4.59 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). Our streak had to end sometime, and we were edged 6-5. Ardon tossed 6 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell allowed a pair of hits, a run, and he struck out 2 in the 7th to earn a hold. Luis Alcantra struck out the only hitter he faced to earn a hold. Danny Niewald allowed a hit, who later scored, to the only batter he faced. Cho-ywong Hyoun got the loss, 0.2 innings with a two run homer (1 charged to him). Cole Brannen was 2-for-4 with a double. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, 2 walks, 2 RBI's, and a homer. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a run scored and steal. Jake Taylor was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI. Eric Kisela was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. August 18th, 2027: Jarred Kelenic will head down to the GCL for a rehab assignment. The Reds acquired LHP David Peterson from the Pirates for LF Jeremy Peterson. No relation between the two Petersons, but while this is an even deal, I like the Pirates side better. We looked to finish the series with a win before an off day, as Jake Florence (11-9, 3.45 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) took on Chris Helmick (8-5, 5.03 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). We got 4 in the first, and took the finale 8-3. Florence went just 4 innings with 2 hits, 3 runs, 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Tylor Megill got the win, 3 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts. Danny Niewald tossed 2 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Isaac Nunez was 4-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI's. Eric Kisela was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a run scored, and 2 RBI's. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Jackson Mller was 2-for-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and 2 walks. Tomorrow is a nice off day! August 19th, 2027: Arizona will be without RP Jared Miller for the rest of the season with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. He has a nice 2.47 ERA and has struck out 66 in 51 innings. We're headed home for a three game series with the Giants. We'll face Chris Rodriguez (5-10, 5.43 ERA), Jhoan Duran (10-7, 4.33 ERA), and Josh Canseco (3-8, 5.14 ERA). August 20th, 2027: Arizona SP Zach Linginfelter is out for the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. The 30-year-old vet was 5-9 with a 4.45 ERA. I optioned RF Palban Gamboa to AAA to recall LF Daylen Lile from his rehab assignment. Still a game back of the Phillies, we opened the series with the Giants as Devon Peterson (11-4, 4.18 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) looked to stay hot against Chris Rodriguez (5-10, 5.43 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). He was solid, and we shut them out 2-0 to take the opener. Peterson went 7.1 innings with 8 hits, a wlak, and 8 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra and Victor Arano got an out a piece to earn holds. Chad Scoles tossed a perfect 9th to earn the save. Chris Reid was the entire offense in the game, 2-for-3 with a pair of solo shots. Jhon Solarte and Jon Reid were both 1-for-3. The Phillies didn't play, so we are just half a game out. We also have a 10.5 game lead over the 2nd Wild Card... August 21st, 2027: Winners of 9 of our last 10, Ignacio Hinojos (6-4, 4.02 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) looked to take on Jhoan Duran (10-7, 4.33 ERA, 1.44 WHIP) as we looked to keep rolling. Both guys have earned good wins against the opposition. It was another great outing, and we topped them 4-2. Hinojos went 6 innings with just 2 hits, 2 unearned runs, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers tossed 2 innings with 3 strikeouts to get a hold. Chad Scoles allowed 2 hits in the 9th, but didn't break, and got the save. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Eric Kisela, who pinch hit for him, got an RBI single. Juan Ramimrez was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored. We're also now tied for first as the Phillies split a double header with the Dodgers! August 22nd, 2027: We looked to finish the sweep with Steve Paustian (10-6, 2.92 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) facing his former team. Josh Canseco (3-8, 5.14 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) took the mound for the Giants. Didi Gregorious tied up the game with a two run shot off Chad Scoles that force extras. In the 10th, Juan Ramirez hit a walk off RBI double off Nick Routt, and we picked up our 4th win in a row, 3-2. Paustian was brilliant, tossing 7 innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Scles allowed 2 hits and 2 runs in the 9th with a strikeout. Victor Arano and Alpha Quivers split the 8th to earn holds. We only had 4 hits! Matt Hogan was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with walk and the walk off double. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a run scored, walk, and double. And we're finally back in first! The Dodgers, who helped knock off the Phillies, come to town for a four game set we need to sweep. At 48-75, we should have no problem beating them. We'll see most of the rotation, Robinson Ortiz (6-9, 5.36 ERA), Luis Severino (4-11, 5.70 ERA), Bryce Bonnin (4-14, 5.43 ERA), and former Marlin Walker Buehler (1-1, 2.87 ERA). Jarred Kelenic will return for that series, with Matt Hogan being optioned down to AAA. |

August 23rd-August 29th
August 23rd, 2027: We remain 1st in the Power Rankings. At 77-46, we have a one game lead over the Phillies.
We opened the series hosting the Dodgers in front of a nice sold out crowd. Luis Ardon (9-7, 3.13 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) took on Robnson Ortiz (6-9, 5.36 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) who's having a rough season. We dominated the entire game, shutting out the Dodgers 10-0. Ardon was brilliant, 7 innings with 3 hits, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Cho-yeong Hyoun finished the game, 2 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts. In his return to the lineup, Jarred Kelenic hit 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and a double. Jhon Solarte was 2-for-3 with a run scored, 3 RBI's, a walk, and double. Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with a run scored, 3 RBI's, 2 doubles, and a walk. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and an RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Fun fact: In all of August, we've allowed more then 5 runs in only 2 games. On August 7th, we lost to the Indians 7-2 and on August 17th we lost to the Royals 6-5. We've only allowed 4 in back to back games, the 14th and 15th in 7-4 wins over the Braves. Pirates SP Mike West tossed a 2-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over the Padres. August 24th, 2027: Game two of four saw Jake Florence (11-9, 3.53 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) take on Luis Severino (4-11, 5.70 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). It was a tight one, but we edged them 5-4. Florence went just 4 with 7 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. The pen was great, 5 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Danny Niewald got the win, 1.1 innings with a strikeout. Victor Arano got the save with a perfect 9th. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI, and two hit by pitches. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly, a walk, and 2 steals. August 25th, 2027: RF Art Bryant will miss the rest of the year with a herniated disc in his neck. The former Marlin was hitting .328/.455/.536 with 17 homers and 76 RBI's. We looked to keep rolling with Devon Peterson (12-4, 3.97 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) taking on Bryce Bonnin (4-14, 5.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). They managed to get a win, taking the thrid game 5-3. Peterson went 5 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Niewald went 1.2 innings with a hit, run scored, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Jarred Kelenic went 2-for-3 with a run scored, walk, double, and 2 more steals. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a triple, run scored, walk, and RBI. Jhon Solarte had a pinch hit double in the 7th. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a run scored. And the Phillies won, so they tied us back in first... August 26th, 2027: We needed to win the series with Ignacio Hinojos (7-4, 3.80 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on former Marlin Walker Buehler (1-1, 2.87 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) who has really had injuries problems. We got four in the first, and added more on to win the finale 7-4. Hinojos went 5 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 8 strikoeuts. Tylor Megill allowed 2 runs and 2 hits in 1.2 innings with a strikeout. Luis Alcantra and Victor Arano got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a grand slam off Buehler in the first. He walked and scored a total of three times. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a double and 2 runs scored. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Daylen Lile and Jackson Miller were 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a run scored and sac-fly. Pirates RF Bobby Eaton hit three homers in a 9-6 win over the Giants. The Rockies come to town for three before an off day. We'll see Eric Warren (3-7, 5.90 ERA), Forrest Whitley (9-6, 3.11 ERA), and A.J. Puk (9-4, 3.71 ERA) as we look to seperate ourselves from the Phillies. August 27th, 2027: We opened the series with the Rox as Steve Paustian (10-6, 2.79 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) took on Eric Warren (3-7, 5.90 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). We got crushed, and they took the opener 11-3. Daylen Lile left with a bruised ankle, but he's likely to just miss tomorrow's contest. Paustian had a rare rough outing, 2 innings with 6 hits, 6 runs, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Hyoun tossed 2 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and strikeout. Tylor Megill went 2 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell tossed 2 innings with 4 hits, a run, and a strikeout. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, a double, and 2 steals. Jake Taylor was 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a steal, RBI, and walk. Astros 3B Alex Bregman extended his hit streak to 20 games. And we're down to 2nd... Minnesota will be without 2B Trea Turner for the season with a torn posterio cruciate ligament. The 34-year-old hit .244 with 18 homers and 89 RBI's. August 28th, 2027: We looked to bounce back with Luis Ardon (10-7, 2.97 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) facing Forrest Whitley (9-6, 3.11 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). The Rockies offense has been too much for us, and they crushed us 8-1. Ardon went 5 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Niewald allowed 3 runs, 2 walks, and a hit, while getting just a strikeout. Riley Ferrell tossed an inning with 2 hits, a run, walk, and strikeout. Alpha Quivers tossed 2.2 perfect frames with 4 strikeouts. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a double. Ramirez, Kelenic, and Reid were all 1-for-4. August 29th, 2027: Three players will miss the rest of the season. Arizona righty Chris Green tore his labrum, Cleveland righty Jeff Ramirez tore a flexor tendon in his elbow, and Brewers LF Kevin Ellis also tore his labrum. We looked to avoid the sweep with Jake Florence (11-9, 3.68 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) taking on A.J. Puk (9-4, 3.71 ERA, 1.21 WHIP). We pitched better, but were swept after a 3-2 loss. Wow... Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Cole Brannen was 1-for-3. Jarred Kelenic and Mac Horvath were both 1-for-4. At least we get tomorrow off... Tim Green of the Rays was 5-for-5 in a 9-7 win over the Yankees. Nationals 1B Garrett Frechette was 5-for-6 in a 8-6 win over the Royals. |

August 30th-September 5th
August 30th, 2027: Thomas Dillard will head to the GCL to begin a rehab assignment.
Our nemesis, the Phillies, will be without SP Francisco Morales for the rest of the year with a torn labrum. He was 7-5 with a 4.40 ERA in 20 starts, although he did have 6 relief appearences and a save. We fell into 3rd in the Power Rankings. at 80-50, we are back down to 3 out... We're off to Washington to face the Nats for three to end August. We'll see Cole Ragans (4-13, 4.71 ERA), Clint Hinshaw (11-13, 3.69 ERA), and Sonny Warner (7-2, 2.78 ERA). August 31st, 2027: Crdinals reliever Jesus Luzardo will likely miss all of 2028 with a torn rotator cuff. In his first season in Missouri, he was 2-2 with 3.36 ERA while striking out 67 in 59 innings. We looked to get back on track with Devon Peterson (12-5, 4.08 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) facing Cole Ragans (4-13, 4.71 ERA, 1.44 WHIP) to finish August which was a great month for us until about 4 days ago. Sadly, we'll end it with a four game losing streak, and the Nats topped us 8-5. Peterson tossed 4 innings with 5 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Cho-yeong Hyoung tossed 2 innings with a hit, run, and strikeout. Riley Ferrell allowed 2 runs in 0.2 innings with 2 hits and a strikeout. Chris Reid was 2-for-3 with a double, walk, and 3 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, a walk, and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a triple, walk, run scored, and RBI. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Alex Bregman's hit streak was ended at 23 in a 5-4 loss to the White Sox. September 1st, 2027: I had to move Dillard to Greensboro, since I didn't know the GCL ended. With rosters expanding, I recalled RF Palban Gamboa from AAA. Jarred Taylor won American Confrence Pitcher of the Month. The 26-year-old was 5-0 with a 1.35 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 40 innings. He also pitched out of the pen for us in the majors. Greensboro SP Jon Rothberg was named Pitcher of the Month. The former 23rd Overall Pick was 3-0 with 21.2 scoreless innings. He struck out 26 hitters. We needed to turn things back around with Ignacio Hinojos (8-4, 3.79 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Clint Hinshaw (11-13, 3.69 ERA, 1.19 WHIP). We couldn't get out of the rut, and fell 3-1. Hinojos tossed 5 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Danny Niewald allowed 3 hits and a run in the 6th inning. Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-5 with a triple and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with 2 walks. Jon Reid was 2-for-3 with a walk. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk. Reds 3B Rafael Devers hit his 400th career homer. The 30-year-old is a career .305/.363/.622 hitter with 1,194 RBI's in 1,608 career games. September 2nd, 2027: I recalled LF Matt Hogan from AAA. We looked to avoid consecutive sweeps with Steve Paustian (10-7, 3.09 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) facing Sonny Warner (7-2, 2.78 ERA, 1.00 WHIP). We finally straightened things back out with a 6-2 win to salvage the finale. Paustian tossed 7 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, and 8 strikeout. Quivers and Scoles tossed perfect frames, with the latter striking out 2. Chris Reid was 2-for-5 with a two run homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a steal and run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-5 with a steal and run scored. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and a run scored. Down in Jacksonville, SP Jerry Anthony tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the Biloxi Shuckers. Before heading to Atlanta for three, I recalled 1B Spencer Jones. In Atlanta, we'd see Ty Madden (9-10, 3.61 ERA), Mack Anglin (2-0, 2.67 ERA), and Ken Harty (12-2, 2.27 ERA). September 3rd, 2027: We opened the series with Luis Ardon (10-8, 3.12 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Ty Madden (9-10, 3.61 ERA, 1.21 WHIP). We got three insurance runs in the 9th, to take the opener 5-1. Ardon went 5.1 innings with 5 hits, a run, walk, and 5 strikeotus. Danny Niewald and Victor Arano got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Niewald struck out 3 in 1.2, and Arano struck out the side in the 8th. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double, walk, and solo homer. Jake Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Eric Kisela came off the bench and was 1-for-2 with a double and RBI. September 4th, 2027: Oakland and Cleveland swapped scrubs, with RHP Billy Peterson heading to Cleveland and 2B Nick Dunn heading to Oakland. Dunn is by far the better player, a productive bench piece, so the win goes to the A's. We looked to keep rolling with Jake Florence (11-10, 3.69 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) taking on the red-hot Mack Anglin (2-0, 2.67 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). Florence is 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA against the Braves this year. We got three in the first, and won the series with a 4-2 win. Florence went 5.1 innings with just 1 hit, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell, Victor Arano, Alpha Quivers, and Chad Scoles got holds before Danny Niewald got the save. Ferrell allowed a run and 2 hits with a walk in 1.2 innings. Jackson Miller was 1-for-2 with a sac-fly. Twins LF Mike Haskins launched three homers in a 10-8 win over the Rangers. September 5th, 2027: Royals lefty Arturo Andrade will miss the rest of the season and most of next with a torn rotator cuff. He worked in 37 games as a reliever with a 5-2 record and 5.61 ERA. We looked to finish the sweep with Devon Peterson (12-6, 4.27 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) taking on Ken Harty (12-2, 2.27 ERA, 0.95 WHIP). We couldn't really tough Harty, and they topped us 5-1 to salvage the finale. Peterson went 6 innings with 9 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Danny Niewald struck out the side in the 7th. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a walk. Tigers 2B Shane Shifflett launched three homers in a 13-8 win over the Indians. Mets CF Adrian Hernandez was 5-for-6 in an 8-7 win over the Nationals. I recalled C Thomas Dillard from his rehab assignment in Greensboro. The AA season ends tomorrow, the AAA the day after, so expect more callups soon. |

We dropped to 4th in the Power Rankings. At 83-53, we are somehow 3.5 games out of first. We opened a series in Chicago at Wrigley Field with Ignacio Hinojos (8-5, 3.78 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) taking on Ryan Dease (9-7, 4.47 ERA, 1.62 WHIP). Up 1-0 in the 9th, Jared Poland tied the game up with an RBI single off Cho-yeong Hyoun to force extras. In the 10th, Ben Henning hit a walk off homer off Luis Alcantra, and the Cubs won the opener 2-1. Hinojos went 5.1 innings with 5 hits, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell, Alpha Quivers, and Victor Arano got holds. Hyoun allowed 2 hits, a run, a walk, and 2 strikeouts in the 9th. Alcantra got a fly out before the walk off homer. Seattle C Brandon Martorano was 5-for-6 in a 21-7 Seahwaks win over the Chiefs (it could have been a Monday Night Football game). September 7th, 2027: Minnesota will be without SP Liam Norris for the rest of the year with a torn meiscus. He was 5-7 with a 4.27 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 130.2 innings. Callup time! 3B Roberto Pena, 2B Devonte Brown, C Dermott MacGregor, RP Joe Kramer, RP Joseph Jarneski, RP Mike Cowell, and SP Jared Taylor. Guys on 40 not activated: Jimmy Chapman (AAA DL, likely to be transfered when Montgomery comes back from the 60), Leonel Olvera (AAA DL), 2B Nesty Cirese (AAA DL, transfer candidate). The active roster is at 37/40. We looked to even up the series with Steve Paustian (11-7, 30.7 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) taking on Jorge Flores (9-9, 4.01 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). Both Roberto Pena and Devone Brown are making their 2027 season debuts today. It was a nice bounce back game, and we topped them 5-2 to even the series back up. Paustian tossed 6 innings with 3 htis, 2 runs, a walk, and 8 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers and Victor Arano got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Both Quivers and Scoles tossed an inning with 2 strikeouts. Pena was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Thomas Dillard and Jhon Solarte were both 1-for-4 with solo homers. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a run, steal, and hit by pitch. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a run scored. September 8th, 2027: We looked to win the finale with former Cubs Luis Ardon (11-8, 3.07 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Pablo Ochoa (8-11, 4.81 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). It was a high scoring affair, and we finished the finale with an 11-6 win. Ardon tossed 6 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), and 4 strikeouts. Joe Kramer had a rough outing, 1.2 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 strikeouts in his 2027 debut. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-5 with a homer, hit by pitch, 3 runs, and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, double, and 2 walks. Devonte Brown was 2-for-4 with a double, walk, and 3 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Jhon Solarte was 2-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI's. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Palban Gambo ahit a pinch hit solo homer in the 9th. We get tomorrow off, and will head homer to face the Nationals. September 9th, 2027: The Dodgers will be without RHP Mauricio Cabrera until 2028. Granted, he's an impending free agent, and will likely not sign a major league contract in the offseason. The 33-year-old had a 4.15 ERA and 1.94 WHIP with 31 strikeouts and 18 walks in 21.2 innings. In Washington, we'd see Mike Abrams (7-5, 3.78 ERA), Cole Ragans (5-13, 4.61 ERA), and Clint Hinshaw (12-14, 3.74 ERA). September 10th, 2027: We looked to open the series strong with Jake Florence (12-10, 3.57 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) facing Mike Abrams (7-5, 3.78 ERA, 1.02 WHIP). We tried blowing it, allowing 3 in the 8th, but we escaped with a 4-3 win. Florence was great, 6.1 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra and Victor Arano got holds while Chad Scoles got the save. Alpha Quivers pitched between Alcantra and Arano, allowing 3 runs, 2 hits, and a walk in 0.2 innings. Scoles struck out the side in the 9th. Daylen Lile was was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's. Matt Hogan was 2-for-3 with 2 runs and a double. Roberto Pena was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Florence was 1-for-1 with a sac-bunt and RBI. Luke Leto extended his hit streak to 20 games, but also suffered shoulder tendinitis, and will be day-to-day for 4 weeks. September 11th, 2027: We looked to keep rolling with Devon Peterson (12-7, 4.39 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) looking to turn things around against another cold pitcher in Cole Ragans (5-13, 4.61 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). Peterson is 2-1 with a 5.50 ERA against the Nats while Ragans is 2-2 with a 3.92 ERA against us. It took 12 innings, but the Nationals edged us 3-2 to even the series back up. Peterson pitched well, 7 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 8 strikeouts. Tylor Megill got the loss, 1.1 innings with 3 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Daylen Lile was 2-for-6 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a run scored and 2 walks. Mac Horavth was 1-for-4 with an RBI and 2 walks. September 12th, 2027: We looked to win the series with the red-hot Ignacio Hiojos (8-5, 3.61 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) taking on Clint Hinshaw (12-14, 3.74 ERA, 1.24 WHIP). We tried to give this one away, allowing 3 in the 9th, but we managed to win the finale 6-3 anyways. Cho-yeong Hyoun left with back tightness, and will be day-to-day for a few games. He tossed an inning plus with 2 hits and a run. Hinojos tossed 5 shutout innings with 2 hits, 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Joseph Jarneski allowed 3 hits and 2 runs without getting an out in the 9th. Chad Scoles got the final three batters out to earn his 13th Miami save (30 total). Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-3 with 2 runs, a hit by pitch, and a solo homer. Daylen Lile was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Devonte Brown was 1-for-2 with a sac-fly and solo homer. Atlanta will come to town for t=four, with Eric Burtrum (11-4, 2.80 ERA), Ty Madden (10-11, 3.43 ERA), Mack Anglin (2-1, 3.86 ERA), and the always annoying Ken Harty (13-3, 2.40 ERA) being featured. |

September 13th-September 19th
September 13th, 2027: Now 87-55 and 3.5 back, we jumped up to 3rd in the Power Rankings.
The Orioles clinched a playoff spot, and the Red Sox have been eliminated from postseason contention. Baltimore is 93-49 and Boston is 59-86 and 35.5 games back. We opened the four game set with the Braves, and Steve Paustian (12-7, 3.07 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) took on Eric Burtrum (11-4, 2.80 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). It was a close one, but a three run sixth was what the Braves needed for the 3-2 win. Paustian went 6.2 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers tossed 2 innings, and struck out every hitter, but one. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with a double, homer, walk, and 2 RBI's. Four other hitters were an average 1-for-4. Luke Leto's hit streak was snapped at 22. You know something crazy? We're likely headed to the playoffs for the 7th straight time, but we've only won our division twice? And we've won 92-97 games each year, and we're on pace for our highest win percentage this year, and we're 4 games out of first... September 14th, 2027: Astros RHP Diosmerky Taveras will likely miss all of 2028 with a torn flexor tendon. He was 6-10 with a 4.63 ERA in 26 starts and 1 relief appearence, the one he got hurt in. We looked to even the series back up with Luis Ardon (12-8, 3.07 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Ty Madden (10-11, 3.43 ERA, 1.19 WHIP). We got a three run inning of our own, the 7th, and won 5-2. Ardon tossed 5.2 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, and 4 strikeouts. Joe Kramer got the win, despite allowing a hit and 3 walks in 1.1 innings with a strikeout. Luis Alcantra got the hold and Victor Arano a save. He has a 0.61 ERA and 0.68 WHIP with us since being acquired from Milwaukee. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Eric Kisela was 2-for-4. Palban Gamboa hit a pinch hit three run homer in the 7th. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a triple and run scored. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a walk. September 15th, 2027: We looked to take the series lead with Jake Florence (13-10, 3.44 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Mack Anglin (2-1, 3.86 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). Florence is 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA against the Braves this season. The offense came to play, and we won the third of four 8-2. Florence went 7+ with 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Jared Taylor finished the 8th, striking out the side. Chris Reid was 2-for-3 with a homer, walk, double, and 3 RBI's. Jhon Solarte was 2-for-2 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, double, and homer. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk. Florence was 1-for-2 with a sac-bunt. September 16th, 2027: The Houston Astros have been eliminated from the postseason. At 61-85, they are 19.5 games behind the Athletics. They haven't been back to the playoffs since 2023. We looked to win the finale with Devon Peterson (12-7, 4.32 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) facing perhaps the best pitcher in the NL, Ken Harty (13-3, 2.40 ERA, 0.98 WHIP). He looked beatable today, and we finished the series with a 7-4 win. But both Devon Peterson and Jarred Kelenic left with injuries. Peterson's diagnosis is pending, and Kelenic was diagnosed with a quadricep strain. He'll head to the DL for about 6 weeks. Peterson went 2 innings with a hit, run, 2 walks, and strikeout. Roberto Pena got the win, 3 innings with 3 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell, Alpha Quivers, and Victor Arano got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Ferrell didn't really deserve one, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and he got a strike out. Arano struck out the side in the 8th. Kelenic was 2-for-2 with a RBI double, walk, and three run homer before leaving with his injury. He'll end the year with a .301/.410/.528 triple slash with 15 homers and 52 RBI's in 92 games. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a solo shot. Devovnte Brown was 1-for-3 with a solo shot. Daylen LIle was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's. I had to check if Harty was the best pitcher in the NL, and based off the flawed stat known as WAR, he sits at 6.4, 2.2 ahead of the next highest, my now injured starter Devon Peterson. I can't believe that someone with his numbers (12-7, 4.32 ERA, 150 K's, 1.34 WHIP, 100 ERA+) would be the second most valuable pitcher. Harty leads the league in ERA at 2.57, ahead of Luis Ardon (3.07) and Steve Paustian (3.11). He's tied for 2nd in wins at 13, behind Jake Florence (14). He leads the league in strikeouts with 251, far more then Jorge Flores (182) who is in 2nd. Based on ratings, there is only one starter, Minnesota's Jeremy Hynek, who's rated a 5*, although Hynek is 10-7 with a 4.23 ERA and 1.19 WHIP this season with an equally impressive 251 strikeouts. Yes, Hynek is in the AL, but it's crazy how there is only one 5* in the whole game. In the NL, Harty is tied at 4.5* with Esteban Aguirre (Reds, 4.5/5), Tra'Mayne Blackburn (4.5/5), and Sonny Warner (Nationals, 4.5/4.5). My best are Jake Florence (3.5/4) and Devon Peterson (3.5/4) with Steve Paustian (3.5/3.5) right behind. Back to baseball, we're off to New York for three with the Mets. We'll see Noah Syndergaard (9-4, 2.78 ERA), Livio Montella (6-13, 4.48 ERA), and Mashairo Tanaka (7-12, 4.65 ERA). September 17th, 2027: We opened the Mets series at Citi Field with Ignacio Hinojos (9-5, 3.47 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Noah Syndergaard (9-4, 2.78 ERA, 1.05 WHIP). We decided to leave the bats at home, and the Mets shut us out 2-0. Jon Reid left with an injury... Hinojos got the loss, 4.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Cho-yeong Hyoun tossed 2.1 innings with a strikeout. We had just 3 hits, all singles. Chris Reid was 1-for-3, Devonte Brown came off the bench and was 1-for-3, and Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 off the bench. September 18th, 2027: Reid was diagnosed with back tightness, but it's not serious, so he'll be able to resume playing immediately. Toronto's Zach King might miss the start of spring training with a torn rotator cuff. He was 2-0 with a 6.39 ERA. The Philadelphia Phillies have clinched a postseason birth. At 94-53, they have a 4 game lead over us. We looked to even the series back up with Steve Paustian (12-8, 3.11 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) taking on Livio Montella (6-13, 4.48 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). We let the Mets get back to .500 with a 4-2 win over us. Paustian went 5.2 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra got the loss, an inning with 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Cole Brannen was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a steal. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with a walk, RBI, and steal. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-3 with a run scored. September 19th, 2027: Devon Peterson will head to the DL with a strained hamstring. He'll miss 5 weeks. Cho-yeong Hyoun will take his spot in the rotation, but Jarred Taylor will likely get a spot start tomorrow. We looked to avoid the sweep with former Mets pitcher Luis Ardon (12-8, 3.07 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Mashiaro Tanaka (7-12, 4.65 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). Ardon was brilliant, showing the Mets what they missed out on when waiving him, and we shut them out 5-0. Ardon tossed 7.1 innings with 6 hits, although without a walk or strikeout. Every batter he faced put the ball in play. Victor Arano tossed 1.1 innings with a hit and strikeout. Isaac Nunez was 3-for-4 with a double, walk, and RBI. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with 3 runs, a walk, double, and steal. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a solo homer and 2 walks. Matt Hogan was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and an RBI. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with an RBI. We'd continue our road trip with a three game set in Philly. We'll see Jim Gilbert (10-5, 3.56 ERA), Dursun Erbakan (8-4, 3.12 ERA), and Josh Weske (11-11, 5.25 ERA). Last edited by ayaghmour2; 08-06-2018 at 02:06 PM. |

September 20th-September 26th
It's a late one tonight, but I had a very long car ride (where I got a lot of writing in):
September 20th, 2027: We remained 3rd in the Power Rankings. The Phillies are 2nd, and we'd look to jump them with this series. The Orioles clinched the East. At 97-52, they have a 14.5 game lead over the Blue Jays. The Angels have been eliminated. At 67-82, they are 14 games behind the A's. Jared Taylor (2-1, 3.95 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) got a spot start, his first of the season, against Jim Gilbert (10-5, 3.56 ERA, 1.08 WHIP). It took 15 innings before Thomas Dillard hit a solo homer to take a 5-4 lead that we'd keep. Joseph Jarneski left with a sore elbow, and he'll miss 2 weeks. Taylor went 5 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell allowed 2 hits and a run in an inning. Tylor Megill got the win, 3 innings with 2 hits and as trikeout. Chad Scoles tossed 2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Deshawn Hardamon was 3-for-5 with a double, 2 runs, and a solo homer. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-5 with a walk and solo homer. Juan Ramirez came off the bench, 1-for-3 with an RBI double. Mac Horvath was 1-for-5 with a run scored and 2 walks. Angels RF Sergio Alayaa was 5-for-6 in a 15-6 win over the Athletics. His teammamte Nick Senzel was 5-for-5. September 21st, 2027: The Brewers will be without SP Shane Baz for the year with shoulder inflammation. He was 7-7 with a 4.18 ERA in 19 starts. We clinched a playoff spot. At 92-58, we have a 9 game lead over the Nationals. The Padres weren't so lucky, and they were eliminated. At 68-81, they are 13 games out of first. We looked to take the second game with Jake Florence (14-10, 3.41 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Dursun Erbakan (8-4, 3.12 ERA, 1.13 WHIP). It was another long one, and tied at 5 after 9, we scored 2 in the 14th. Enter Ignacio Ramos, who hit a walk-off grand slam off Megill. Florence tossed 5 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers allowed a run off 3 hits in 0.2 innings with a strikeout. Joe Kramer alloewd a hit and run with 2 strikeouts. Megill allowed 2 htis, 2 walks, and 4 runs with 2 strikeouts in 1.1 innings. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, an RBI, double, 2 walks, and 2 steals. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a grand slam of his own. Chris Reid was 1-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and a steal. Devonte Brown was 1-for-3 with a steal. September 22nd, 2027: The White Sox will be out of the playoffs. At 72-80, they are 12 games behind the Twins. The Yankess will also not participate in the postseaosn. At 71-80, they are 27.5 games out of first. I trasnfered Jimmy Chapman to the 60-Day DL and purchased the contract of Sam Minniefield. Minniefield, a former 3rd rounder of mine, is currently ranked a 2.5/3.5 at 24 years of age. Here's what I wrote about him: 3rd Round, 101st Overall: RP Sam Minniefield (2.5): Yes, it's that bad that I have to grab another college reliever early in the draft. Minniefield can eat a lot of innings in the pen, and can touch 100 with his plus-plus fastball. He's got a plus splitter as well, but needs to work on it's movement. He still has both plus pitches, and his movement has moved up to 55, which is decent enough. He's also increased in potential, and was decent for a 3rd round pick. We looked to finish the finale with Ignacio Hinojos (9-6, 3.42 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) taking on former Marlin Josh Weske (11-11, 5.25 ERA, 1.47 WHIP). They got four in the 5th, and took the finale and series 5-2. Hinojos went 5 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Minniefield made his MLB debut, 1.1 innings with 3 hits, a run, a walk, and a strikeout. Devonte Brown was 2-for-3 with a steal and solo homer. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Spencer Jones was 1-for-3 with a double and walk. Astros RF Mookie Betts hit his 2,000th career hit. THe 34-year-old has a career .285/.349/.468 stat line with 234 homers and 994 RBI's. We're off to Washington for four with the Nationals. We'll see Sonny Warner (9-2, 2.22 ERA), Tyler Dyson (8-3, 2.31 ERA), Mike Abrams (8-6, 3.64 ERA), and Cole Ragans (6-14, 4.53 ERA). September 23rd, 2027: Thomas Dillard wants an extension, but I don't have the money to extend him. The Indians fired Manager Norm Charlton. The former reliever had a great 2022, going 99-63, but has not had a winning season since. He was 59-93 this year and 446-516 in his 6 year career. We opened the four game set with Cho-yeong Hyoun (2-2, 2.87 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) making his first start of the year against Sonny Warner (9-2, 2.22 ERA, 1.01 WHIP). We scored a single run in the 6th through 9th to tie the game at 5. They were able to walk it off, however, and they won the opener 6-5. Hyoun went 5.2 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Roberto Pena went 1.2 innings with a hit, run ,3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Chad Scoles got the loss, a hit and run in 0.1 innings. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a double, walk, 2 runs, and a solo homer. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a steal and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Jhon Solarte was 1-for-2 with a solo homer. September 24th, 2027: Brewers SP Alfredo Rivera tore his flexor tendon, and will miss the beginning of next year. He was 11-9 with a 4.65 ERA this year. The two time defending champion Tampa Bay Rays have been eliminated from the playoffs. At 73-79, they are 27 games out of first. The Colorado Rockies clinched the NL West. At 84-70 they have an 11 game lead over the Diamondbacks. At 92-61, I'm 5.5 games out of first and have to play a stupid 1 game playoff... We looked to turn things aroung with Steve Paustian (12-8, 3.11 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) taking on the hot Tyler Dyson (8-3, 2.31 ERA, 0.96 WHIP).We looked awful, and lost 7-2... Paustian went 6 innings with 5 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra walked a hitter who later scored, and got one out. Roberto Pena tossed 1.2 innings with 4 strikeouts. Jon Reid was 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and solo homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Palban Gamboa was 1-for-3 with a double and walk. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-2 with a double, hit by pitch, and sac-fly. Padres starter Dallas Woolfolk tossed a 1-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the Dodgers. September 25th, 2027: Toronto starter Nick Sprengel tore his flexor tendon, and will likely miss all of 2028. He was 2-3 in 6 starts with a 3.58 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. We desperatley needed a win as the red-hot Luis Ardon (13-8, 2.93 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) looked to stay hot against Mike Abrams (8-6, 3.64 ERA, 1.04 WHIP). We preferred to lose 3-2 instead... Ardon tossed 6 innings with 4 htis, 3 runs, 4 walks, nad 3 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers struck out 2 in the 7th and Victor Arano struck out 1 and allowed a hit in the 8th. Roberto Pena was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Eric Kisela had a pinch hit double in the 8th. September 26th, 2027: Jordan Mongtomery was activated from the DL, and Nesty Cirese was transferred to the 60. Monty will head back to the rotation. We looked to avoid the embarassing 4-game sweep wtih Jake Florence (14-10, 3.46 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) looking to stay hot against Cole Ragans (6-14, 4.53 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). Florence has dominated the Nationals, 2-1 with a 0.93 ERA. We scored 5 in the 7th and 8th to crush Washington 11-1 and leave the capital with a little dignity. Florence wasn't perfect, but tossed 7 innings with 7 htis, a run, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Jarred Taylor finished the game, 2 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Isaac Nunez was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a double, homer, and 2 steals. Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Matt Hogan was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Spencher Jones hit a pinch hit grand slam in the 7th. Jon Reid hit a pinch hit two run single and later scored in the 8th. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-3. We're headed back home for a three game series with the first place Phillies. We'll see Durusn Erbakan (8-4, 3.42 ERA), Josh Weske (12-11, 5.13 ERA), and Chad Afghani (2-1, 2.49 ERA). I'm pretty sure they clinched the division, and they have a 7.5 game lead over us. Oh well, when we won the Series we were the Wild Card. |

September 27th-October 3rd
Setpetember 27th, 2027: Well, the end of the season came up too quick. I just found out we played our last road game, and these next two home series finish out 2027.
Former Marlin Brennan Malone fractured his elbow, but will likely be back for spring training. The 27-year-old was a full time starter this year, going 8-12 with a 3.87 ERA. We dropped to 4th in the Power Rankings. At 93-63, we are 7.5 games behind the Phillies, who officially clinched the NL East. At 100-55, this will be their first playoff appearence since 2020 where they were a Wild Card. They are also 2 wins away from their franchise high of 102. We opened the series with the Phillies as Jordan Montgomery (2-2, 2.25 ERA, 0.93 WHIP) took on Dursun Erbakan (8-4, 3.42 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). It took 13 innings before Erick Kisela hit a walk-off single off Steve Fettig, and we won the opener 8-7. Riley Ferrell left with a sprained ankle, and will miss over a month. Montgomery had a rough outing, 2.2 innings with 5 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and just 1 strikeout. Roberto Pena tossed 2.2 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 4 strikeouts. Victor Arano got a hold, striking out 2 in the 8th. Chad Scoles blew the save, 0.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, walk, and strikeout. Mike Cowell got the win, 1.1 innings with ah it and walk. Joe Kramer tossed 1.1 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts. September 28th, 2027: We looked to take the series a game early with Ignacio Hinojos (9-7, 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Josh Weske (12-11, 5.13 ERA, 1.44 WHIP). Talk about a crazy ninth: the Phillies got 2 insurance runs to take a 6-2 lead. We got a run back, before closer, and former Marlin prospect Sergio Monreal (traded for Jackson Miller) came in to the game with a runner on. He allowed a walk, and then Thomas Dillard took him deep for a three run homer to tie the game at 6 and force extras. Some more late inning heorics, and Jhon Solarte walked it off with a single off Marco Jimenez in the 11th. Hinojos tossed 5.1 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra tossed 1.2 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Tylor Megill allowed 2 hits and 2 runs with 2 walks in an inning plus. Alpha Quivers improved to 7-1 with a two strikeout 11th. Roberto Pena was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI, and walk. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4 wwith a hit by pitch, double, walk, and run scored. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, 3 walks, the homer. Solarte was 2-for-7 with a run scored and the game winning RBI. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-6 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Spencer Jones hit a pinch hit homer in the 8th. September 29th, 2027: Yankees starter Juan Figeuroa will miss the rest of the year with a torn back muscle. Likely, he'll be ready for Spring Training, and he was 4-3 with a 4.38 ERA. The Twins and Royals have clinched playoff spots. Tied for first at 87-70, one team would win the Central, the other will be forced the play a one game playoff. We look to finish the sweep with Steve Paustian (12-9, 3.25 ERA, 1.23 WHIP), the likely Wild Card starter, taking on Chad Afghani (2-1, 2.49 ERA, 1.13 WHIP). We couldn't finish them off, and they took the finale 7-4. Paustian tossed 6 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Joe Kramer got the loss, allowing 3 runs, a hit, a walk, and recording a strikeout. Sam Minniefield allowed a hit, run, and strikeout in 0.2 innings. Cole Brannen went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored, and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Eric Kisela was 2-for-5 with a run scored. We get tomorrow off before finishing the regular season! September 30th, 2027: I claimed infielder Jimmy Turnage off waivers from the Dodgers. A versatile speedster, the 24-year-old, he's a great defender with a solid bat. To make room for him, I transfered Ferrell to the 60. We will host the Nationals in the Wild Card game, as they clinched a spot. At 88-71, they'll be back in the postseason for the first time since 2018. The Cardinals have been eliminated. At 80-79, they are 4 games behind the Reds. The Tigers come to town tomrrow for the final three games of the regular season. We'll see Pat Saitta (13-9, 3.42 ERA), Nick Neidert (4-7, 4.11 ERA), and Michael Fulmer (9-13, 4.79 ERA). October 1st, 2027: RHP Bradley Spooner was named 2027 American Confrence Reliever of the Year. The 29-year-old is a former 14th Round Pick back in 2021, and he had a really nice 1.50 ERA in 48 innings with 67 strikeouts, 14 walks, and 5 saves. Luis Ardon (13-9, 2.99 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) will make his last start of the year against Pat Saitta (13-9, 3.42 ERA, 1.29 WHIP), who I wanted to trade for at the deadline, but the Tigres wouldn't move. He's a 3.5/4.5 26-year-old with great stamina, a durable arm, and a five pitch arsernal (three elite, one plus, and a below-average). It was a solid pitching matchup, but we managed to come on top 4-2. Ardon went 5.1 innings with 7 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 6 stirkeouts. Alpha Quivers and Victor Arano got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Matt Hogan was 2-for-2 with 2 steals, 2 walks, and an RBI. Daylen Lile was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, walk, and steal. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored and walk. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Yankees starter Mitch Hart tossed a 3-hit shutout in an 8-0 win over the Astros. He struck out 13 and walked just 1. October 2nd, 2027: Joseph Jarneski was activated from the DL. Jake Florence (15-10, 3.38 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) looked to stay hot against former Marlin Nick Neidert (4-7, 4.11 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). It was a wild one, as the Tigers tied the game at 7 with 3 in the 9th. They got 1 more in the 12th to take an 8-7 lead. But, we weren't done, as we scored 2 in the bottom half to win a walk-off pinch hit single from Roberto Pena after a Chris Reid RBI double. Florence tossed just 4 innings with 4 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Joe Kramer and Danny Niewald got holds before Chad Scoles blew the save. Kramer struck out 3 in 1.2 innings with a hit. Scoles allowed 4 hits, 3 runs, and a walk in 0.2 innings. Megill got the win, 1.2 innings with 4 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-6 with a homer, 3 runs, a steal, and 2 RBI's. Chris Reid was 2-for-6 with a double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored.Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a homer, 2 runs, and 3 RBI's. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. October 3rd, 2027: Lots of playoff news on the final day: Toronto clinched the Wild Card, the Twins the Central, and the Reds the Central. The Brewers were eliminated. The only spot up for grabs in the AL West, where the A's have a 1 game lead over the Rangers. Game 162 would see Jordan Montgomery (2-2, 3.52 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) take on Michael Fulmer (9-13, 4.79 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). The Tigers got 3 in the 9th, and took the finale 5-3. Monty tossed 4 innings with 2 hits, an unearned run, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Jarred Taylor got a hold, 2 innings with 3 hits, a run, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Alpha Quiers, Mike Cowell, and Victor Arano got holds before Luis Alcantra blew the save. He allowed 2 hits, 3 runs, and 3 walks in 0.2 innings. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a walk and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a steal, run scored, and hit by pitch. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk, run scored, hit by pitch, and RBI. We end the year 97-65, tied for the best season in Marlins history with last year when we were NL East champions. On to the postseason! |

Awards, Arbitration, and Pre-Free Agency
November 4th, 2027: I started the offseason by executing a $3.4 million option instead of paying the $340,000 buyout. He tossed 66.2 innings with 64 strikeouts, a 2.97 ERA, and 1.17 WHIP in his first sseason with us.
My budget is up to $204 million, which is an acutal increase. I still have basically nothing to spend, but it's better then nothing at all. I also increased my stadium capacity to 40,000 in an attempt to make a little money. My assistant GM Michael Hill decided he wanted to puruse a job elsewhere. Milwaukee fired manager Mark Johnson. He was 84-78 and had a winning record the past three years, including winning the NL Central last year. He has a career 331-317 record in four seasons with Milwaukee. I outrighted 1B Jimmy Turnage to AAA. I added minor league affilates at the A level for the four new expansion teams that will come next year. November 14th, 2027: Thomas Dillard was named the Platinum Stick winner for NL Catchers. November 15th, 2027: I signed former Braves Scout Brian Bridges as my Assistant GM. Think of him as my backup scout. Royals LF Alfredo Ordorica (30, 150) and Mets 1B Billy Davis (28, 146) were named Rookie of the Year. November 16th, 2027: Royals Manager Tony Pena Jr. and Phillies Manager Gabe Kapler were named Manager of the Year. Free Agency Pt. 1
November 27th, 2027: It sounds crazy, but I actually have a bit more then $7 million to spend on Free Agents; a lot better then having to cut $20 million or move...
The top 10 in no perticular order are: RHP Mitchell White RHP Brady Singer 1B Kris Bryant LF Kyle Tucker C Thomas Dillard (tears) LHP Jose Quintana RHP Victor Arano 2B Bo Bichette LHP/1B Brendan McKay RHP Edwin Diaz One trade to start Free Agency: The Braves sent 1B Danny Contreras and cash to the Pirates for C Will Banfield and RHP Dan Farrell. It's an even deal, with a slight edge to the Pirates. It's really a weak free agent class... Here's my plan: 1. Acquire a SP 2. Upgrade 2B 3. Add to the pen (always) November 28th, 2027: Here's my Hall of Fame ballot: 2B Robinson Cano SP Zack Greinkie SP Felix Hernandez LF Matt Holliday RF Nick Markakis C Russell Martin C Joe Mauer C Yadier Molina C Buster Posey CL Francisco Rodriguez Cano, Hernandez, Holliday, Markakis, Mauer, Molina, Posey, and K-Rod all have shots. Cano, Greinkie, and Mauer seem like locks, all getting over 60% last season. Trade action: The Rangers acquired RHP Mike West from the Pirates for RHP Sergio Andrade. It's a decent deal for both teams, but I like the Pirates side. November 29th, 2027: I claimed former Marlin Ernesto Estrella off waivers. I traded him midseason to the Brewers in the Arano deal. November 30th, 2027: Pair of deals were made, with the trade happy Pirates sending RHP Deavan Watts and RHP Nate Dick to the Royals for C Mike Price. It's a salary dump that the Royals really capitalize on, with Price being the worst player. The Cardinals sent 1B Mike Barrett to Toronto for 3B Mike Tobler. It's an even deal. December 3rd, 2027: The Rays sent LF Colt Barker to the Pirates for RHP Bobby Nicholson. I like this deal for Tampa. Pittsburgh is really making moves, as GM David Quinowski has really been shuffling the roster. I purchased the contract of pitchers Alfredo Herrera and Zaire Moneyham to fill my 40. December 6th, 2027: I made a deal with the Nationals, acquiring 2B Noah Smith for SP Logan Shore, LF Dong-hak Noh, 3B Dansby Swanson, and SP Jake Parker. It's not the biggest haul to give up, a former 4th rounder in Parker and 3 minor league free agents, although Shore and Swanson are both 2.5*. Smith, the former 9th Overall Pick, is a 25-year-old rated a 3.5/4. He's an elite defender with elite speed, plus contact, plus eye, and he doesn't strike out too much. In three full big league seasons, he's hit .264/.328/.365 with 23 homers, 173 RBI's, and 68 steals. I'd have to make room for him later. December 7th, 2027: I DFA'd Mike Cowell to make room for Smith. December 8th, 2027: C Thomas Dillard signed really early, and will continue his career with the Cardinals. Generally considered the best catcher in the game, he signed for 4-years, $132,000,000. The 30-year-old is a career .256/.364/.493 hitter with 141 homers and 428 RBI's. December 10th, 2027: I outrighted Cowell to AAA. December 14th, 2027: The Winter Meetings start today! Lot's of signing happened as well! Toronto signed P/1B Brendan McKay to a 5-year, $168,500,000 contract, with the final year a player option. As a pitcher, he's 87-55 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 1,123 strikeouts in 1,255.1 innings. As a hitter, he's a career .275/.337/.472 with 86 homers and 311 RBI's. They also inked 38-year-old vet Jose Quintana to a 3-year, $19.2 million per year deal, with the third year a 25 game started vesting option. "Q" has a career 166-129 record with a 3.46 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 2,471 strikeouts in 2,785.2 innings. The Cubs Signed LF Kyle Tucker to a 4-year, $19.8 million per year, with the fourth year a player option. He's a career .297/.357/.539 hitter with 291 homers and 889 RBI's. We got some trade action, with the Cubs acquiring former Marlin Jorge Moya and RHP Jim Lately from the Yankees for 2B Jared Poland. It's a steal for the Cubs. The Rangers sent SS Nander De Sedas to the Red Sox for RHP Dinelson Lamet and RHP Randy Profitt. I like this deal for the Rangers, although De Sedas is a stud. December 15th, 2027: More moves, starting with the Astros signing RHP Nick Burdi to a 3-year, $34.7 million contract with the third year a 40 games finished vesting option. The 34-year-old has tossed 647 innings with 778 strikeouts, a 3.53 ERA, and 1.25 WHIP. They also added a new catcher, Noah Naylor, to a 7-year, $14.4 million per year deal. The former Royal is a career .243/.307/.414 hitter with 102 homers, 372 RBI's, and 85 steals with a cannon behind the plate. The Rays signed RHP Craig Kimbrel to a 1-year, $4,840,000 contract. With 552 career saves, a 2.40 ERA, a.d 1.00 WHIP, Kimbrel showed no signs of slowing down with the Angels last year, 33 saves, a 1.76 ERA, and 0.78 WHIP. The Reds got RHP Dallas Woolfolk from the Padres for RHP's Arturo Magana and Brad Montgomery, as well as LHP Jonathan Hager. It's a good haul for Woolfolk. The Cardinals got C Kurtis Byrne from the Mariners for RHP Jorge Reyna. I like this deal for both sides. Lastly, the Twins got RF Sergio Ayala from the Angels for LHP Liam Norris. I like this deal for both teams. December 16th, 2027: I signed veteran C and team leader Grant Koch to a 1-year, $1,610,000 deal. The 30-year-old is a career .218/.306/.377 hitter, but he's signed for his leadership and he should be able to mentor Jackson Miller well. I moved 2B Devonte Brown to the Rays for CF Omari Tetteh to make room for Koch. Tetteh, who just turned 24, is a former 1st Round Pick with a ton of speed who will be a plus defender in center. He's got excellent gap to gap power, plus contact, and decent home run pop. December 17th, 2027: The Meetings ended with a pair of trades. First, the Nats got C Daulton Varsho from the Diamondbacks for LF Ezequiel Pagan and LHP Tim Downs. I like this deal for the D'Backs. The Cubs sent LHP Graeme Stinson to the Padres for 3B Jordan Groshans. It's an even deal. I finished the meetings by sending 3B Ben Davis to the Twins for SP Jared Jackson. Jackson, 24, was selected by the Twins 26th Overall in 2025. He's rated a 3.5* potential with a plus fastball, plus-plus slider, and elite change up. He tosses 92-94 with the fastball, keeps the ball on the ground, and will get you deep into the game. His control is just average, but he should develop into a great #2 or #3. December 20th, 2027: The Indians signed 2B Bo Bichette to a 6-year, $139.6 million contract. A long time Blue Jay, he hit .271/.342/.485 with 192 homers, 558 RBI's, and 170 steals. December 24th, 2027: The Rays signed former Ray Brent Honeywell to a 1-year, $10.3 million contract. After spending 2019-2024 pitching for the Rays, he left to Milwaukee for three years before returning. He's tossed 932.1 innings with 933 strikeouts, a 3.25 ERA, and 1.07 WHIP. He won Cy Young in 2021, where he lead the league with 20 wins, a 1.91 ERA, and 0.91 WHIP. The Rule 5-Draft is also today! There was no one worth taking, but I didn't lose anyone either. December 28th, 2027: Lot's of signings today, but I'll start with the small one. I signed RHP Blayne Enlow to a 1-year, $1.9 million contract that is a lot like the Dinelson Lamet signing way back when. Enlow is also a borderline starter, rated a 2.5/3 with an elite curve, plus-plus fastball, and developing change. He's got plus control as well, and can toss a lot of innings. He's also a team leader. The Indians signed Isaac Paredes to a 3-year, $24.9 million contract. The 28-year-old is a career .277/.339/.441 hitter with 87 homers and 403 RBI's as a Tiger and Royal. The Nationals signed my former reliever Victor Arano to a 3-year, $17.8 million per year deal. He was unhittable for me after the deadline, a 0.42 ERA and 0.65 WHIP with 30 strikeouts in 21.2 innings. He has 105 career saves, and will likely serve as the closer. The Nats also signed his ex-teammate, Alpha Quivers, to a 3-year, $20 million per year deal. Quivers has a career 3.67 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and he struck out 672 hitters in just 490 innings. He also has 84 saves and can be another late inning option. December 29th, 2027: The Mariners signed LF Mickey Moniak to a 5-year, $61,400,000 contract. The former #1 Overall pick has a career .275/.357/.405 line with 56 homers and 273 RBI's, as well as 165 steals. December 30th, 2027: The Reds replace Mickey Moniak with LF Ramon Flores. They signed him to a 3-year, $13.3 million per year contract. He really broke out with Arizona after bouncing a round a bit, and has a career .256/.373/.474 line with 268 homers and 803 RBI's. He's also walked more times (907) then he's struck out (839) in 4,928 at bats. December 31st, 2027: I DFA'd Jimmy Chapman to make room for Blayne Enlow. We'll pick this back up next year! |

Free Agency Pt. 2
January 2nd, 2028: The Cubs signed SP German Marquez to a 5-year, $111,400,000 contract. He was as Cub for part of 2025 and all of 2026 before heading to the Blue Jays for a season. He's a career 93-93 pitcher with a 4.53 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 1,393 strikeouts in 1,517 innings.
January 3rd, 2028: The Indians claimed Jimmy Chapman off waivers. January 7th, 2028: I needed to add a lefty to the pen, so I sent RHP Mason Barnett to the Orioles for former Marlin LHP Sanshiro Onuma (75% retained). Onuma is a 3* reliever and team captain. His stuff is elite, the ball never leaves the ground, and leftys can't hit his slider. Jaunary 8th, 2028: The Red Sox made a big splash, signing Brady Singer to a 5-year, $114,600,000 contract. It's a big deal for a pitcher with injury problems. The long time Met is 56-53 with a 3.81 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and he's struck out 824 in 901.2 innings. January 9th, 2028: I claimed SS Rodolfo Navarro off waivers from the Reds. He's an elite defender, but doesn't have any speed. He does run the bases well, and will contribute a bit on with the bat. He was sent to AA Jacksonville. The Cubs signed SP Mitchell White to a 5-year, $30 million per year contract, with the final a 180 innings pitched vesting option. In 237 career starts, mostly with the Mariners, he's 74-78 with a 4.11 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and he's struck out 1,142 in 1,227 innings. January 10th, 2028: The Mariners signed LF Kris Bryant to a 3-year, $47,100,000 contract, with the last season a 550 plate appearence option. The long time Cubs has a career .269/.369/.511 hitter with 427 homers and 1,183 RBI's. The Brewers acquired RHP Lucas Sims from the Braves for RF Monte Harrison and CF Steve Clarke. I like this deal for the Braves... January 12th, 2028: Joe Mauer (78%) was inducted to the Hall of Fame on his 4th attempt. Zack Greinke (73.6%), Robinson Cano (73%), and Justin Verlander (69.3%) just missed it. Other close guys were Mat Holiday (63.5%), Buster Posey (51.4%), and Yadir Molina (44.3%). The Rangers signed RHP Chris Rodriguez to a 3-year, $21.2 million contract. He's a career 73-70 pitcher with a 4.27 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and he's struck out 993 in 1,251 innings. January 13th, 2028: The Dodgers signed RHP Forrest Whitley to a 2-year, $32.4 million contract. The Astro and Rockie has a career 71-78 record with a 4.32 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. He's struck out 1,264 hitters in just 1,253 innings. January 15th, 2028: I claimed C Pat Hughes off waivers from the Rangers and sent him to A+ Jupiter. He's an interesting prospect, a 3* spec with a decent glove. He's got elite gap power and plus eye, and can devleop into a solid hitter. The Yankees signed Kyle Molnar to a 3-year, $6.9 million per year deal. He owns a 4.36 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 182 games (119 starts). He's 41-45 with 466 strikeouts. January 23rd, 2028: After a little bit of nothing, the Astros made the news by signing RF Juan Soto to a 4-year, $45.1 million contract. He's got a career .296/.354/.491 line with 132 homers and 490 RBI's and has been selected to 3 All-Star games. The preseason is next! Last edited by ayaghmour2; 08-08-2018 at 08:44 PM. |

Preseason
January 28th, 2028: The presesaon begins today! The Braves announced they extedned Ronald Acuna 5 years, despite him being on the trade block. He'll make $136 million through the length of the deal. He's a career .286/.352/.500 hitter with 225 homers and 813 RBI's to go with 230 steals.
January 31st, 2028: I claimed Juan Zamora off waivers from the Giants and sent him to A Greensboro. The 22-year-old reliever has plus stuff, movement, and control. The Astros inked RHP Justin Lawrence to a 1-year, $3,640,000 contract. The long time Rockie has a 4.27 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 664.1 innings with 706 strikeouts. His career ERA+ is 114, so expect the ERA numbers to fall now that he's out of Coors Field. February 6th, 2028: I sent 1B Spencer Jones to the Phillies for SP Juan Maya. Maya, who turned 24 today, was the 3rd Overall pick in 2024 and the 4th in 2025, both times by the Phillies. He's rated a 1.5/4 and looks like a legit top of the rotation pitcher that I can't afford to let Philadelphia keep. He's got an elite change up, elite stuff, and is a durable arm who can go deep into games. Expect him to be a top prospect in the upcoming year. February 14th, 2028: I sent C Jakek Taylor to the Rays for CL Sean Clark. Clark, 19, was selected in the 4th Round last season. He's a borderline starter rated a 4.5*. He's got a ton of stamina out of the pen, elite stuff with an elite fastball and curve (below average change too), but needs to work on his control and movement. He's got a ton of upside, but a lot of developing left. February 20th, 2028: I signed veteran releiver Trevor Gott to a 2-year contract. The first, he'll earn $2.3 million and the second, a team option at $2.4 million. Rated a 3.5*, he's tossed 770.2 big league innings with a 3.11 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 190 saves, and he's struck out 813. It was a very uneventful preseason, and we'd start Spring Training next! |

Spring Training
February 27th, 2028: Spring Training starts today, so I made my callups.
February 29th, 2028: Not sure I've ever had a February 29th entry, but it's one I wish I didn't need. C Jackson Miller is headed to the DL with a severe hip strain, and will miss 5 weeks. I'm hoping he'll be ready for Opening Day. March 7th, 2028: The Braves will be without RHP Kyle Zurak for the year with a torn UCL. March 17th, 2028: The Rangers will be without RHP Hector Antonio Perez for the season with a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. March 30th, 2028: The Spring was really quiet, and today I made most of my roster cuts. I traded Ernesto Estrella to the Mariners for RF Mike Siani. I need a backup outfielder, and Siani will fill that roll once he recovers from a strained back in about 2 weeks. He's a 3* speedster who's got a cannon of an arm. He's a decent hitter as well, and can pitch a bit. April 1st, 2028: The official 2028 roster is set: SP Jake Florence (3.5/3.5) SP Ignacio Hinojos (3/3.5) SP Jordan Montgomery (3/3) SP Steve Paustian (3.5/3.5) SP Devon Peterson (4/4) RP Luis Alcantra (4/4.5) RP Luis Ardon (2.5/2.5) RP Blayne Enlow (3.5/3.5) RP Riley Ferrell (3.5/3.5) RP Trevor Gott (3.5/3.5) RP Danny Niewald (2.5/2.5) RP Sanshiro Onuma (3/3) CL Chad Scoles (5/5) C Grant Koch (1.5/1.5) C Dermott MacGregor (0.5/2) 1B Mac Horvath (3.5/3.5) 2B Nesty Cirese (2/2.5) 2B Deshawn Hardamon (2/2.5) 2B Noah Smith (3.5/3.5) 3B Chris Reid (3.5/3.5) SS Isaac Nunez (3.5/3.5) SS Jon Reid (2/3.5) LF Juan Ramirez (4.5/5) LF Matt Hogan (2/2) RF Daylen Lile (3/3.5) RF Jarred Kelenic (4/4) And then these guys on the DL: C Jackson Miller (4/4.5) RF Mike Siani (3/3) I'm hyped for 2028! |

April 2nd-April 9th
April 2nd, 2028: Happy Opening Day! While we don't play today, the regular season officially starts and baseball is back!
We are predicted to finish 100-62 for the best record in the NL, followed by the Nationals (87-75), Braves (86-76), Phillies (82-80), and Mets (74-88). The Brewers (82-80) and Padres (81-81) are the other projected leaders, but no teams in either division is projected under 77 wins. Luckily, expansion will come at the end of the season to hopefully get rid of all the mediocrity. I have a few top players: Jarred Kelenic (.348/.438/.552, 25 HR, 91 RBI'S, 22 sb) Juan Ramirez (.333/.415/.588, 31 HR, 130 RBI, 22 SB), Devon Peterson (14-7, 3.59 ERA, 173 K) and Steve Paustian (14-10, 3.80 ERA, 171 K). The top 100 prospects were published, with RHP Rob Stratton of the Tigers ranked #1. He's a former 7th Round Pick from 2024 who's rated a 4.5* potential from my scout. My system ranks 5th. Rogelio Maldonado (3rd), Eric Richer (30th), and Sergio Serrano (79th) rank in the top 100. Omari Tetteh (147th) is my only opther top 200 guys. I am shocked Juan Maya is my 8th prospect and not top 100. We start the season hosting the Braves for three. We'll face reigning Cy Young winner Ken Harty, Ty Madden, and Jonathan Groff. I think Harty will always haunt me as the "one who got away" even with a little drop in his ratings. April 3rd, 2028: Game 1 of 162 takes place in beautiful Marlins park that is a near capacity 39,631 fans will witness. Devon Peterson will take on Ken Harty. The lineup is as follows: CF Lile, RF Kelenic, LF Ramirez, 3B Reid, 1B Horvath, SS Nunez, 2B Smith, C Koch, P Peterson. We actually got 6 off Harty, and won the opener 7-2. Peterson tossed 5.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell earned a hold, 1.1 innings with a strikeout. Blayne Enlow made his Marlins debut, 2 innings with 2 hits and a strikeout. Chris Reid started his 2028 off right, 2-for-3 with a three run homer, a two run homer, and a walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a steal and run scored. Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with a steal and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a walk and steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with an RBI in his Marlins debut. April 4th, 2028: Game two saw Steve Paustian face Ty Madden. Paustian almost went the distance, and we shut the Braves out 6-0. Paustian tossed 8.1 innings with 3 hits and 9 strikeouts. Luis Ardon got the last two outs. Dewitt MacGregor was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, walk, and three run homer. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a solo shot. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a run scored and hit by pitch. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and a run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-3 with a walk. Brewers 1B Drew Mendoza hit for the cycle in a 10-5 win over the Rockies. April 5th, 2028: The Tigers signed CL Jairo Labourt to a 1-year, $4.8 million contract. Origionally acquired by the Tigers in the David Price deal with the Blue Jays, he played in 6 games for them in 2017. Then he made a cameo with us in 2021 before spending 2022 to 2027 with the Reds. We looked to finish the opening sweep with Jake Florence taking on Michael Doolin. It was a close one, but a five run 6th helped us finish the sweep with a 8-6 win. Trevor Gott (back tightness) and Riley Ferrell (mild abdominal strain) will both be day-to-day for about 5 days. Florence went 5 innings with 9 hits, 4 runs (3 earned) 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Danny Niewald got the win, an inning with 2 walks and a strikeout. Ignacio Hinojos allowed a hit and walk, but struck out the side in the 7th to get a hold. Gott and Ferrell both got holds in the 8th. Chad Scoles hit the first batter he faced in 2028, and then gave up a two run homer in the 9th without getting an out. Enlow ended up striking out the side and got the save. Chris Reid was 1-for-2 with a solo shot and 2 walks. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Matt Hogan hit a pinch hit solo homer in the 8th. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Grant Koch was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. White Sox SS Carlos Correa hit his 2,000th career hit. He has a career .300/.371/.517 hitter with 341 homers and 1,173 RBI's. We get the day off tomorrow before our Florida rivals Tampa come to town for three. April 6th, 2028: I optioned MacGregor to AAA and activated Jackson Miller from the Disabled List. The Rockies signed RHP Dovydas Neverauskas to a 1-year, $3,760,000 contract. With the Rays, we'll see Brent Honeywell, Jarod Bayless, and Jacob Faria (0-0, 6.75 ERA). April 7th, 2028: Jordan Montgomery took on Brent Honeywell as we started the series with the Rays. Miller was in the lineup and will hit 6th. Tied at four in the 9th, Juan Ramirez drew a bases loaded walk and we continued our perfect start to the season. Montgomery tossed 6 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, and 3 strikeouts. Niewald allowed a run and 2 hits with a strikeout in the 7th. Scoles got the win, a strikeout in a perfect 9th. Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with a three run homer. Miller didn't look rusty, 2-for-4 with a double and steal. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double and walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 walks. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a run scored. April 8th, 2028: We looked to keep rolling with Devon Peterson (1-0, 1.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Jarod Bayless. We have the position advantage at every spot, and absoultely demolished the Rays 15-1. Peterson tossed 7.1 innings with 7 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed 1.2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Jarred Kelenic was 4-for-5 with 3 runs and a walk. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with a double, hit by pitch, and 3 runs scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-1 with 3 runs, 3 RBI's, 3 walks, a double, sac-fly, and 2 steals. Chris Reid was 2-for-3 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, and his 4th homer of the year. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a walk, double, and 3 RBI's. Blue Jays teammates CF Ron Burk and 2B Mike Barrett recorded 5 hits in a 10-9 win over the Orioles. Burk was 5-for-6 and Barrett was 5-for-5. April 9th, 2028: Recent signing Mitchell Whtie tore his ulnar collateral ligament, and it was so severe, that he was forced to retire. The Cubs stupidly released him, and now they are out of $150 million. He tossed just 0.2 innings with them, allowing 2 runs and 3 hits with a strikeout. We looked to finish the sweep and a perfect homestand with Steve Paustian (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.36 WHIP) taking on Jacob Faria (0-0, 6.75 ERA, 2.00 WHIP). Paustian was great again, and we topped them 7-1 to finish a 6-0 homestand. Two problems: Daylen Lile left with an injury and the diagnosis is pending. Juan Ramirez left as well, but it's just a sore back he can play through. Paustian tossed 6.2 innings with 2 hits, a run, 4 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Trevor Gott got the hold, 1.1 innings with a hit and strikeout. Chris Reid was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a steal. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nesty Cirese came off the bench for Lile, going 1-for-3 with 2 runs, a RBI, and steal. Ramirez was 1-for-3 with an RBI double before leaving with injury. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a steal and 2 runs scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a double. AAA RF Joe Weigand was 5-for-5 in a 4-3 loss to the Memphis Redbirds. Can't really start much better then we did, and we're off to Atlanta for three with the Braves. We'll see Ty Madden (0-1, 6.75 ERA), Jim Tate (0-0, 6.00 ERA), and Jonathan Groff (0-0, 3.38 ERA). Can we make it 9-0? Let's focus on seven first... |

April 10th-April 16th
April 10th, 2028: The Indians will be without RF Eric Gaffney for the year with a concussion. He was 1-for-11 with an RBI.
The Rangers signed RHP Jason Foley to a 1-year, $2.8 million deal. As you might guess, at 6-0, we rank #1 in the Power Rankings. Can we make it 7 straight to start the year? Our first game came in Atlanta, the team we swept to start the season, with Jake Florence (0-0, 5.40 ERA, 2.40 WHIP) took on Ty Madden (0-1, 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) who lost to us in his first start. Down 3-0 heading into the 9th, Nesty Cirese started the scoring with an RBI single off Drew Smith. We ended up loading the bases, and Chris Reid hit a grand slam off Josh Mattress to take a 5-3 lead! They got 1 off Chad Scoles in the 9th, but we stayed perfect with a 5-4 edging. Florence tossed 5.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Danny Niewald tossed 1.2 innings with 3 hits, a run, and a strikeout. Scoles got the save, an inning with a hit, run, and 2 strikeouts. Isaac Nunez was a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Reid was 2-for-4 with a walk and the grand slam. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-5 with a double. Desahwn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a run scored. April 11th, 2028: I made a free agent singning, adding LF Ian Happ on a 1-year, $2.5 million contract. He's a 3* hitter who can play all three outfield spots and a little second base. The swtich hitter spent his whole career with the Cubs, hitting .250/.334/.456 with 265 homers, 770 RBI's, and 148 steals. I optioned Matt Hogan to AAA to make room. Daylen Lile was diagnosed with a sore hamstring, and will just be day-to-day. I also sent RF Mike Siani on a AAA rehab assignment. Happ hit 5th and played LF as Ignacio Hinojos (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP) made his first start of the year against Jim Tate (0-0, 6.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) who is also making his first start. We just kept rolling, and topped them 3-1 to improve to an impressive 8-0. Hinojos tossed 6 innings with a hit, run, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Trevor Gott and Sanshiro Onuma before Chad Scoles picked up another save. He allowed a hit and walk with 2 strikeouts. Happ was impressive, 2-for-4 with a two run homer and a solo homer. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a steal. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk. April 12th, 2028: Giants righty John Swanda will miss the rest of the year with a torn labrum. He tossed 4 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and he struck out 3. Corey Knebel is joining the Tigers on a 1-year, $12.1 million contract. The 36-year-old is 55-59 with a 3.89 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 1,253 strikeouts in 866 innings. Three straight sweeps? Jordan Montgomery (0-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) will take on Jonathan Groff (0-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) in the finale. Tied at 2 in the 9th, Deshawn Hardamon hit a pinch-hit RBI double off Curtis Taylor, and Luis Alcantra tossed a perfect 9th to cap off a 3-2 win. Monty tossed 6.2 innings with 9 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell got the win, 1.1 innings with 2 strikeouts. Alcantra struck out 1 in his inning of work. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-2 with a double and RBI. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a double and hit by pitch. Monty was 1-for-3 with a double. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored. We're off to New York for four with the Mets! We'll see Arturo Romo (1-0, 0.00 ERA), Noah Syndergaard (0-0, 4.09 ERA), Livio Montella (1-1, 2.25 ERA), and Jhoan Duran (0-2, 4.38 ERA). April 13th, 2028: Could we possibly start 10-0? Devon Peterson (2-0, 1.38 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) looked to make that happen against Arturo Romo (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.00 WHIP), who's making his first start of the year. We just kept rolling with a 6-4 win to open the four game set. Daylen Lile left with back stiffness, and I'm gonig to bench him the rest of the series to be safe. Peterson tossed 5.2 innings with 8 hits, 4 runs, 6 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Niewald got the win, getting the final out of the 6th. Gott and Alcantra got holds before Riley Ferrell got the save. Isaac Nunez was 3-for-3 with a homer, walk, and 4 RBI's. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and a two-bagger. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk. April 14th, 2028: There's no way we can do 11, right? Steve Paustian (2-0, 0.60 ERA, 0.60 WHIP) will battle Noah Syndergaard (0-0, 4.09 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) as the Mets look to do something that hasn't been done all season. It was another close one, and we escaped with a 4-3 win. Wow! Paustian went 5.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 5 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Niewald got another win, going 1.1 innings with a walk. Gott and Onuma got holds before Scoles got the save. He allowed a hit and unearned run with 2 strikeouts in the 9th. Chris Reid was 2-for-2 with 2 walks and a solo homer. He's hitting .457 with 6 homers and 13 RBI's so far. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with a two run homer and a steal. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a run scored, walk, and steal. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with an RBI. April 15th, 2028: Okay, there is no way we'll win our 12th straight game... Jake Florence (0-0, 4.35 ERA, 1.94 WHIP) took the mound against Livio Montella (1-1, 2.25 ERA, 0.83 WHIP). The streak finally ended, and we dropped the third of four 2-1. Florence went 5.2 innings with 2 hits, a run, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow got the loss, an inning with a hit, run, 2 walks, and a strikeout. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and a run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Grant Koch was 1-for-3. Rockies starter Eric Dawson tossed a 5-hitter in a 5-0 win over the Dodgers. April 16th, 2028: We looked to start a new streak with Ignacio Hinojos (1-0, 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP) taking on Jhoan Duran (0-2, 4.38 ERA, 1.05 WHIP). We flipped yesterday's score, and won 2-1 to finish the series. Hinojos went 6 with 4 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell got the win, an inning with a strikeout. Luis Alcantra got the hold and Chad Scoles had a turbulent 9th to get the save. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a solo shot. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo shot. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a walk. Isaac Nunez and Mac Horvath were both 1-for-4. Tomorrow is an off day, although I don't know if I want to stop playing baseball! |

April 17th-April 23rd
April 17th, 2028: Unsurprisingly, we rank #1 in the Power Rankings at an insane 12-1. We got today off as we'd head to Philadelphia for a three game set. We'd see Steve Fettig (0-1, 10.13 ERA), Josh Wolf (0-1, 7.20 ERA), and Jim Gilbert (0-0, 2.93 ERA).
April 18th, 2028: The Dodgers signed RHP Tirston McKenzie to a 1-year, $3,360,000 contract. We opened the Philly series with Jordan Montgomery (0-0, 3.55 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) taking on Steve Fettig (0-1, 10.13 ERA, 1.88 WHIP). We piled up the runs, and took the opener 16-4. Montgomery left with a sore elbow, and will head to the DL for likely the minimum. He tossed 3 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 4 strikeouts. Luis Ardon got the win, 3 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow tossed 1.1 innings with a hit, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Danny Niewald threw 1.2 innings with a hit, walk, and strikeout. Mac Horvath was 4-for-5 with 3 runs, an RBI, a walk, and a steal. Chris Reid was a perfect 3-for-3 with 4 runs, 3 RBI's, 2 walks, and two homers. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a pair of solo homers, 3 runs, and 2 walks. Isaac Nuenz was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a three run homer, a walk, and 4 RBI's. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-6 with 2 runs and a solo homer. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-6, but hit a three run homer. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and steal. Mariners 3B Freudis Nova hit for the cycle in a 6-5 win over the Astros. April 19th, 2028: The Cubs signed RHP Edwin Diaz to a 1-year, $34.5 million contract. Diaz has made a living off huge 1-year deals, the 6th straight $30+ million contract. He's made a total of $236,905,000 in his career. I recalled Jared Taylor from AAA. Game two saw Devon Peterson (2-0, 2.89 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) take on Jim Gilbert (0-0, 2.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP). Peterson was dominate, and we shut them out 7-0. Peterson almost went the distance, 8.2 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 4 strikeouts. Enlow needed just 3 pitches to get a fly out to end the game. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, and a homer. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with a steal and run scored. Nest Cirese was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a run scored. April 20th, 2028: Another sweep? Steve Paustian (2-0, 1.31 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) looked to make it happen against Dursan Erbakan (1-1, 2.37 ERA, 0.74 WHIP). It was a close one, but the Phillies managed to salvage the finale with a 6-5 win. Paustian went 5.2 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Trevor Gott allowed 2 runs and 2 htis with a strikeout in 0.1 innings. Sanshiro Onuma got the loss, allowing a homer to the only batter he faced. Despite the 5 runs, we only had 3 hits! Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-43 with a double, RBI, and walk. Daylen Lile was 0-for-2, but walked twice, scored once, and hit a sac-fly. We're headed back home to host the Nationals for three. We'll face Clint Hinshaw (1-2, 3.50 ERA), Steve Vincent (1-1, 5.52 ERA), and Cole Ragans (1-1, 7.71 ERA). April 21st, 2028: I DFA'd Deshawn Haradamon and recalled RF Mike Siani from his rehab assignment. Hardamon once looked like a stud 2B, but has really falled off as of late. He's not happy, not the best clubhouse influence, and costly. At just 25, he's a good bounce back target, and I'd look to trade him after the game today. We hosted Washington at a packed Marlins Park as Jake Florence (0-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.63 RHIP) took on Clint Hinshaw (1-2, 3.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP). Treyjn Fletcher, the Nats star, hits just 4-for-27 against Florence. It was a pitcher's duel, and the Nats topped us 2-1, the first time we've lost back-to-back all year... Florence pitched well, 6 innings with 4 hits and 6 strikeouts, although he did walk 5. Trevor Gott got the loss, allowing 2 runs and 3 hits with a strikeout in an inning. He might still have a little connection to his former team... Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-4 with a steal and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with 2 walks. April 22nd, 2028: We looked to even the series up with Ignacio Hinojos (1-0, 1.38 ERA, 0.92 WHIP) taking on Steve Vinent (1-1, 5.52 ERA, 1.70 WHIP). It took 10 innings, but Luis Robert hit a two run shot off Luis Alcantra, and the Nats won 5-3. Hinojos went 5 innings with 2 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell blew the save with 2 hits, 2 runs, and a strikeout. Alcantra got the loss, 2 runs, a hit, a walk, and 2 strikeouts in the 10th. Daylen Lile was 1-for-5 with a double and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, walk, and double. Mac Horath was 1-for-3 with a RBI nd walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly. Down in A+ Jupiter, SS Sergio Cardenas was 5-for-6 in a 7-6 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers. April 23rd, 2028: We needed to avoid the sweep as Luis Ardon (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.64 WHIP) got his first start of the year against Cole Ragans (1-1, 7.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP). Despite digging ourselves into a 5-0 deficit, we scored 7 unanswered to win the finale 7-5. Ardon went 3 innings, allowing 4 hits, 5 runs (1 earned!), 2 walks, and he struck out three. Blayne Enlow tossed 3 innings with a walk and 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra got the win, 1.2 innings with a hit and 2 strikeouts. Jarred Taylor got a two pitch ground out to end the 9th and get the save. Daylen Lile was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 doubles, and an RBI. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a triple, walk, and 2 runs scored. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, a double, and RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly and 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 1-for-2 with a walk, sac-fly, and 2 RBI's. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored, but was responsible for the almost costly error. Reds 3B Rafael Devers recorded his 2,000th career hit. The 31-year-old owns a career .303/.362/.565 batting line with 412 homers and 1,227 RBI's. We get to stay home as the Mets come to town for three. We'll see Noah Syndergaard (0-0, 3.86 ERA), Arturo Romo (2-0, 4.15 ERA), and Livio Montella (2-1, 2.10 ERA) before an off day. |

April 24th-April 30th
April 30th, 2028: I outrighted 2B Deshawn Hardamon to AAA.
Astro starter Brennan Malone will miss the rest of the season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. THe former Marlin was 1-0 with a 4.86 REA. At 15-4, we remain 1st in the Power Rankings, and hav ea 4 game lead on our next opponent, the Mets, and our last opponent, the Nationals. We opened the Mets series with Devon Peterson (3-0, 1.98 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Noah Syndergaard (0-0, 3.86 ERA, 1.53 WHIP). They faced off earlier in the season, and Peterson had his only bad start of the year. Gregorio Alvarenga really hits Peterson well, 7-for-20 in his career, and he woudl lead the game off. The Mets got 4 in the 3rd, and took the opener 5-4. Peterson went 5.2 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Mike Siani, my new OF, tossed 1.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. He also had an RBI double in his only at bat. Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Noah Smit was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and an RBI triple. Peterson was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with 2 walks. April 25th, 2028: We looked to even the series back up, and shake out of this small rut, with Steve Paustian (2-0, 2.05 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) taking on Livio Montella (2-1, 2.10 ERA, 0.70 WHIP). There was a ton of scoring, and the Mets had a 10-5 lead heading in to the bottom of the 8th after an Andrain Hernandez grand slam of Jarred Kelenic... We battled back for 3 in the 8th, and Noah Smith hit a 2-run single off Jamie Callahan to tie the game in the 9th and force extras. With the bases loaded in the 10th, Jackson Miller hit a walk-off grand slam off Cal Coughlin, and we won a crazy one 14-10. Chris Reid left with a bruised shin, but he'll be day-to-day for about 4 days after getting hit by a pitch. Paustian went 4 innings with 7 htis, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Trevor Gott blew the save, 1.1 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, and a strikeout. Kelenic didn't get an out, allowing 3 hits and 4 runs. Chad Scoles got the win, tossing a perfect 10th with a strike out. Noah Smith was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, and a homer. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with 3 runs, a walk, an RBI, and a double. Daylen Lile was 3-for-6 with 2 runs scored and a double. Reid was 2-for-4 with a two run homer and the hi tby pitch. Miller actually came off the bench, 1-for-1 with a run scored (running for Reid who got hurt) and then another on the walk-ff grand slam. Nest Cirese came off the bench and was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. April 26th, 2028: Mariners 3B Freudis Nova is out for the year with a torn ACL. He was hitting .323/.348/.585 with 2 homers and 16 RBI's. We looked to take the finale with Jake Florence (0-0, 2.45 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) taking on Chandler Ferguson, who's making his first start of the season. It was a close one, and we edged them out 5-4 to take the finale. Florence went 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Jarred Taylor got the win, 2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra got a save, an inning with 2 strikeouts. Yesterday's hero Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with 2 walks, a steal, run scored, and RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly. Tomorrow is an off day before the Phillies come to town for three! Arpil 27th, 2028: The Phillies make their way to Miami, where we'll see Steve Fettig (0-3, 10.47 WHIP), Jim Gilbert (0-1, 4.55 ERA), and Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 2.70 ERA). April 28th, 2028: We opened up the Phillies with Ignacio Hinojos (1-0, 1.58 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) taking on the struggling Steve Fettig (0-3, 10.47 ERA, 1.71 WHIP) who we demolished in his first start against us. Chris Reid is 6-for-16 against him with three longballs. Only Horvath and Hinojos in the lineup haven't hit a homer off him. We got 4 in the first, and took the oepner 9-3. Hinojos went 6 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell tossed 2 innings with 2 hits and a strikeout. Blayne Enlow tossed an inning with a strikeout. Daylen Lile was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a steal. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a run scored, steal, and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly, three run homer, and hit by pitch. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, steal, and 2 runs scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chris Reid and Jackson Miller were both 1-for-4 with a run scored. April 29th, 2028: Jordan Montgomery was ready to come back from the DL, so I optioend Jarred Taylor back to AAA. Montgomery will pitch out of the pen, as we hope to both limit injuries and maxamize effectiveness. He's pitched in 264 games in his MLB career, all coming from the rotation. There were a pair of season ending injuries. The Reds lost RHP Ernesto Abilez for the year with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. Rays CF Travis Swaggerty ruptured his medial collateral ligament. We looked to take the middle game as well with Devon Peterson (3-1, 3.00 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) taking on Jim Gilbert (0-1, 4.55 ERA, 1.08 WHIP). Peterson beat the Phils earlier in the year, while Gilbert loss to us. The same happened today, and we beat them 6-1. Isaac Nunez left with an injury from running the bases... Peterson was great, 8 innings with 4 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery tossed the 9th, needing just 6 pitched for a 1-2-3 inning. Each batter got out on a 1-0 count. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, and a homer. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored, and RBI. Nunez was 1-for-3 with a double and walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with a steal and run scored. April 30th, 2028: The Pirates will be without CL Robby Steinmetz for the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. The former 19th Rounder has blossomed into a great closer, and he had 8 saves and a 1.42 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 12.2 innigns. We looked to finish the sweep with Luis Ardon (1-0, 1.17 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) taking on Dursan Erbakan (2-1, 2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP). Ardon beat the Phillies when he came out of the pen for the injured Montgomery. Today was a much, much different game... The Phillies took a quick 3-0 lead, but we tied it in the 4th with a base clearing double from Jackson Miller. We then added a run in the 5th and 6th to take a 5-3 lead. In the 8th, Xavier Carter tied the game up with a two run homer. Neither team scored in the 9th, so we went to extras. Form the 10th-16th, the pitching was near-perfect, as neither team scored. Then in the 17th, in Jordan Montgomery's 4th inning, Zaire Denton hit a two run homer to give the Phillies a 7-5 lead. Then, starter Steve Paustian came in to get the last two outs. In the bottom half, Jarred Kelenic hit a two-run homer off former Marlin Reynaldo Lopez to tie the game up. Paustian had to keep pitching, and brought it to the 19th. The Phillies ran out of pitchers, and sent Tyler Callihan to the mound. He did get 2 outs, but allowed a hit and walked 5, so we walked off winners 8-7 of a crazy, crazy game... Wow... Ardon tossed 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out just 1. Trevor Gott struck out 1, allowed a hit, and run. Danny Niewald allowed a homer to the only batter he faced. Luis Alcantra, Chad Scoles, Riley Ferrell, and Blayne Enlow combined for 6 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery tossed 3.1 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Paustian got the win, 2.2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. He was planned to start tomorrow, but I'll cross that bridge when it comes. It was his first big league relief appearence. Paustian actually walked it off, and was 1-for-2 with an RBI single to end the game. What a fitting way to end the game, a pitcher gets a single off a hitter to end the game. Noah Smith was 4-for-8 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with 3 runs and 4 walks. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-8 with a steal, walk, and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-7 with the two run homer, a double, and 2 walks. Jackson Miller was 1-for-7 with 2 walks and a base clearing double. Well, that was crazy! I'm eventually going to have to find a way to get a starter in for Paustian, but I'll leve that to later. Now it's off to Washington for three with the Nationals! We'll see Clint Hinshaw (2-3, 2.90 ERA), Steve Vincent (1-1, 3.77 ERA), and Cole Ragans (1-1, 6.75 ERA). A few interesting stats for April: obviously, 20-5 is insanely impressive, but it's crazy that we had a 3 game losing streak. So that means we won the 11 straight, but then later lossed 4 of 5 before our current 5 game winning streak. All our losses except 1, a 5-3 loss to the Nationals, have been 1 run losses. We're still 7-4 in 1 run games. We're 5-0 against left starters, 12-3 at home, and 8-2 on the road. Our Pythagorean is 19-6, so we aren't super lucky based off our run scoring and allowing. We're also top 6 in every stat except pitching walks, where we are 14th in the league. Last edited by ayaghmour2; 08-11-2018 at 06:46 PM. |

May 1st-May 7th
Mat 1st, 2028: Good news to start the month: Isaac Nunez just has a hyperextended knee, and I'll give him the next two days off to recover.
Devon Peterson was named Pitcher of the Month for April. He was 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA and he struck out 29 in 41 innings. At 20-5, we still remain #1 in the Power Rankings. It'd be great to stay there all season! We'd start May at Nationals Park with Jake Florence (0-0, 3.29 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) taking on Clint Hinshaw (2-3, 2.90 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). We couldn't score, and were shutout 5-0. Hinshaw went the distance, allowing just 4 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts against the team that origionally drafted him, but he declined to sign with... Florence went 5.1 innings with 5 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. The pen tossed 2.2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. We had just 4 hits, and Florence had half of them. He was 2-fr-2 with a double. Noah Smith and Jon Reid were both 1-for-3. A's 2B Nick Dunn was 5-for-5 in a 6-3 loss to the Twins. May 2nd, 2028: I needed someone to start today, so teompararily DFA'd Luis Ardon to add Leonel Olvera to the active roster to start today. He made his Major League debut against Steve Vincent (1-1, 3.77 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). Nunez is actually healthy today, so I let him start at short, especially considering Jon Reid got sick. The Nats got 4 in the 8th, and won 6-3. I miss April... Olvera pitched well, 6.2 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Mike Siani allowed 3 hits and 4 runs in the 8th with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Nunez was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, a walk, and a two run homer in the 9th. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Olvera headed back to AAA, and Ardon was re-activated. May 3rd, 2028: We looked to avoid the sweep with Ignacio Hinojos (2-0, 2.25 ERA, 0.96 WHIP) taking on Cole Ragans (1-1, 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP). In 43 at bats, Isaac Nunez is hitting .349 with 2 homers off the Nats' lefty. The offense was excellent, and we topped the Nationals 10-2 to salvage the finale. Danny Niewald left with back stiffness, and will head to the DL for 2 weeks. Hinojos went just 4.1 innings with 4 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell allowed 3 hits and a run in an inning, while also recording a strikeout. Niewald struck out both batters he faced in the 9th before the back stiffness kicked in. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a steal, double, run scored, walk, and 2 RBI's. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5 with a double, solo homer, and 2 runs scored. Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with a walk and 3 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 3-for-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a homer. We're off to San Francisco for four with the first place Giants. We'll see Josh Canseco (1-2, 5.16 ERA), Joe Brausen (2-0, 2.97 ERA), Dan Poinsette (2-1, 2.78 ERA), and Wes Hicks (0-2, 3.91 ERA). May 4th, 2028: I recalled Joseph Jarneski from AAA to replace Niewald. We opened the series in San Francisco with the reigning NL Pitcher of the Month Devon Peterson (4-1, 2.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) taking on Josh Canseco (1-2, 5.16 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). The game was tied at 1 after 9, so we had to play extras. In the 13th, Jarred Kelenic hit a solo homer off Stiward Aquino to take a 2-1 lead. Sadly, Sanshiro Onuma allowed 2 in the bottom half, and they took the opener 3-2. Peterson pitched 5 innings with 4 hits, a run, 5 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Onuma got the loss, 1.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a walk and run scored. Kelenic was 1-for-4 with 2 walks and the solo homer. Chris Reid was 1-for-6 with an RBI double. Grant Koch was 1-for-3 with a double. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with 2 walks. May 5th, 2028: Orioles righty and former Marlin Nick Rumbelow is out for the year with a torn flexor tendon. The 36-year-old had a 3.12 ERA in 8.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and just 1 walk. We looked to even the series with former Giant Steve Paustian (3-0, 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) taking on Joe Brausen (2-0, 2.97 ERA, 1.42 WHIP). It was another 1 run game, but we came up on top this time, edging the hosts 5-4. Paustian went 5.2 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Joseph Jarneski, Jordan Montgomery, and Riley Ferrell got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Scoles allowed a hit, run, and walk in the 9th with 2 punch outs. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Paustian was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI's and a sac-bunt. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double, walk, and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk, double, and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a RBI and walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk. May 6th, 2028: The 2028 Draft Pool was published, and this is who OSA views as the top 10 guys in the drat: 1. LHP Tim Demlow (2/4.5) 2. Salinas (0.5/0.5) 24th Round: CF Mike Allen (0.5/0.5) 25th Round: SP Nate Resnick (0.5/2) 27th Round: SS Naquan Stiggers (2/1.5) 31st Round: SP Joe Cox (0.5/0.5) 34th Round: 1B Ameirin Amilakhvarov (0.5/0.5) 35th Round: SP Chris Brummel (1.5/1.5) 36th Round: CF Danny Squires (0.5/0.5) 38th Round: 2B Luis Robles (0.5/0.5) At least a decent amount of these guys should get re-drafted this year! We looked to take the series lead with Luis Ardon (1-0, 2.63 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Dan Poinsette (2-1, 2.78 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). So we won 9-1, which doesn't sound too weird, until you find out that it was a 10 inning game. We scored 8 runs in the 10th... Ardon was brilliant, 6.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Jarred Kelenic, Trevor Gott, and Jordan Montgomery got holds. Chad Scoles did too, although he allowed a run and walk with a strikeout to tie up the game. Luis Alcantra got the win, allowing a hit, walk, and strikeout in 0.2 innings. Daylen Lile was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, an RBI, a walk, hut by pitch, steal, and a double. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with 2 walks, a double, and run scored. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with a run scored and 2 RBI's to go with a steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Ian Happ was 1-for-4 with a run scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with a walk. Orioles RF Benni Vogl hit his 300th career homer today. The 27-year-old has a career .284/.366/.585 triple slash with 300 homers and 757 RBI's since debuting in 2021. Tampa will be without Jarod Bayless (not the basketball player) for the rest of the season with a torn labrum. He was 0-2 with 12 strikeouts in 11 innings despite a 11.45 ERA. We looked to finish the sereies on a high note with Jake Florence (0-1, 4.13 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) taking on Wes Hicks (0-2, 3.91 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). We won 9-1 again, but this time in 9 innings. Florence was great, 7.1 innings with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Mike Siani tossed 1.2 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a walk, steal, and grand slam. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, and two run homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a wlak and 2 runs scored. Juan ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run scored and base clearing triple. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-5 with a double. A day fter Vogl's historical homer, Blue Jays LF Derek Fisher hit his 300th. The 34-year-old has a career .276/.375/.499 slash in 1,559 games with 301 homers (he hit two in the game) and 951 RBI's with Houston and Toronto. We don't have too far to travel, as we're off to LA to finish a long stretch of games with three against the Dodgers. We'll see Kevin Jalbert (3-0, 3.86 ERA), Robinson Ortiz (1-3, 6.84 ERA), and Nate Ransom (3-1, 3.70 ERA). |

May 8th-May 14th
May 8th, 2028: Another week, another top rank in the Power Rankings. At 24-8, we have a 5 game lead over the Nationals.
We opened the series in Los Angeles with Ignacio Hinojos (2-0, 2.22 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) taking on Kevin Jalbert (3-0, 3.86 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). We must love playing extra inning games, as we allowed former Marlin Ashton McGee to tie the game at 6 in the 9th with a solo homer. In the 11th, Daylen Lile gave us a 7-6 lead with a RBI single. We let young stud Juan Orea hit a 2-run, walk off single in the bottom half, to allow the Dodgers to steal a 8-7 win. Hinojos allowed 7 hits and 4 runs in 5 innings with 10 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell allowed a run in 1.1 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Joseph Jarneski allowed 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and a strikeout in 2.1 innings. Enlow allowed the game winning single and was charged with one of the runs in 0.1 innings. Lile was great, 3-for-6 with a homer and 3 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a double, solo homer, and 2 runs scored. Chris Reid was 2-for-3 with a run scored, walk, 2 RBI's, a double, and triple. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk and steal. May 9th, 2028: Astros lefty Braham Rosario is out for the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He was 0-1 with a 8.03 ERA in 3 starts. We looked to even the series back up with Devon Peterson (4-1, 2.54 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Robinson Ortiz (1-3, 6.84 ERA, 1.90 WHIP). The pitching was amazing, and we shut them out 2-0. Peterson tossed 6.1 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Trevor Gott and Luis Alcantra got holds to set up Chad Scoles, who tossed a perfect 9th to earn the save. Chris Reid was 2-for-2 with a double, 2 RBI's, a walk, and sac-fly. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a steal. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4. May 10th, 2028: We looked to take the finale with Steve Paustian (4-0, 2.79 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) battling Nate Ransom (3-1, 3.70 ERA, 1.21 WHIP). The Dodgers got 4 in the 8th, and took the finale 5-1. Paustian went just 5 innings with 4 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Blayne Enlow was charged with 2 hits, 4 runs, and 2 walks in 0.1 innings with 2 walks. Daylen Lile was 2-for-4 with a steal. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with an RBI double in the 9th. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with a walk. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk. Just a quick note on Horvath, his batting line is so quirky to say the least: .295/.453/.344. He has just 4 extra base hits (3 doubles and a homer) and has walked more then he's struck out (35 to 31). It's even crazier that he's never walked more then he's struck out (he does have a really good eye), but his career OBP is higher then his career slugging (.363 to .354). Tomorrow is an off day before we head to Atlanta for three. May 11th, 2028: We're headed back home to face the last place Braves for three. We'll see Jonathan Groff (1-1, 3.38 ERA), Ken Harty (2-1, 3.38 ERA), and Ty Madden (2-2, 3.29 ERA). May 12th, 2028: Blockbuster time: I acquired Cubs ace Jorge Flores (100% retained) for SP Jared Taylor. Flores, 34, is a pure rental who's contract expires at the end of the season, but he gives us a stud at the top of the rotation for a pretty low price. The lefty has had a bit of a down year, but he's a career 84-44 pitcher with a 3.30 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, and has stuck out 200 or more hitters every year of his career. I optioned Joseph Jarneski to AAA to make room. The Pirates will be without rookie righty Jon Myers for the year with a damaged elbow ligament. In 8 relief appearences, the former 2nd Rounder had a 1.98 ERA. Jake Florence (1-1, 3.60 ERA, 1.48 WHIP) started the series against Jonathan Groff (1-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). Tied at two in the 9th, Ian Happ hit a pinch-hit, two-run, walk-off homer off Curtis Taylor as we took the opener 4-2. Florence went 6 with 2 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell got a hold, allowing a hit and striking out 2 in the 7th. Luis Alcantra allowed a hit and run with 2 strikeouts in the 8th. Chad Scoles got the win, a hit and 2 strikeouts in the 9th. Noah Smith was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a double and walk. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Nesty Cirese was 1-for-3 with 2 steals. May 13th, 2028: Luis Ardon (1-0, 1.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) took on Ken Harty (2-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) as we looked to stay perfect against the Braves. We hit Harty again, and won 5-2 with help from a 3 run 1st. Ardon tossed 5 innings with 3 hits, a run, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Mike Siani tossed 2.1 innings with 2 hits, a run, walk, and 2 strikeouts. Chad Scoles allwoed a hit, but then struck out the final 2 hitters to get the save. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a steal. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a triple, run scored, and RBI. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a double. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a RBI and walk. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with an RBI. May 14th, 2028: Jorge Flores (3-4, 4.53 ERA, 1.35 WHIP), who went from very unhappy to great, made his Marlins debut against Ty Madden (2-2, 3.29 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). The debut wasn't great, and the Braves took the finale 5-1. Flores went 6 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, and 8 strikeouts. Trevor Gott allowed 2 hits, a run, and got a strikeout in the 7th. Ignacio Hinojos allwoed 2 hits in the 8th, but eventually struck out the side. Jarred Kelenic and Chris Reid were both 2-for-4. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Juan Ramirez and Mike Siani were both 1-for-4. Arizona will come to town next. We'll face Jeff Slezak (1-3, 3.79 ERA), Steven Gingery (1-4, 4.94 ERA), Jean-Christophe Hernandez (3-2, 7.53 ERA), and Tyler Glasnow (1-4, 6.46 ERA) in the four game set. Tyler Glasnow, however, may not start, and is listed DTD with neck stiffness. |
