That's not nice. We rooted for your team against Indigenous Ohio, now you're rooting for Chili-flavored Ohio against us? Boo.

Mind you, I don't blame the Brewers for being afraid of us and attempting sabotage [/bravado], but Devin Williams is gone now. Maybe Megill's brother can pitch to Peeeete. You never know.

(In more relevant news, apparently I won't be able to see any of the Marlins games. That's a bit surprising; the Mets are still on a knife-edge and NY is still a bigger market than South Ohio, Detroit, Boston and Phoenix combined, I think. Hmm.)

That's why I was asking. If the Brewers send out some dingdong to pitch, it's only gonna help the Reds.

As if anybody is even surprised.

Dear Moron Mendoza: why are you pulling Sproat after Pete makes an error? What did Sproat do…not send enough good vibes?

(Yes, the Mets were now down, 3-2, but Moron should know that his bullpen is dead. He's the one who killed it, after all. )

Dear David "Wild Turkey" Stearns: Please explain the theory of roster construction under which you entrust critical late-inning outs in a crucial game to Kevin Herget. I mean, Kev was fine; he got the outs. But you will have a job of work to convince me that this was The Plan™.

So nice to see the offense go into such hibernation after the initial burst that Marlins PbP Kyle Sielaff described Future Philly Sandy Alcantara as being on "cruise control".

(House of Highlights didn't wait for the PIX feed; I got Sielaff [who doubtless laffed at what he got to Sie of the Mets] and Tommy Hutton, all the way through.)

Two days to Freedom! For Pete, too, alas, but "nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky", to quote Kansas…

(I would cite the title of that particular Kansas song, but Stearns would probably try to sign "Dustin deWind" and put him in our bullpen.)

The ups: Soto slid to make a catch. First time all year??

The downs: everything that wasn't Soto sliding to make a catch.

Reds won. Snakes lost. Is it too early to congratulate Cincinnati?

:-) Haha - My mind was so broken over the Tigers situation that I was completely misreading what the Mets needed in my delerium. Sorry folks, don't mind the man crying in the corner.

Checked my Excel list and I watched 117 Mets games so far this season, which is five more than last year (only regular season).

After last night's disaster, the Mets have gone 57-60 in games I watched (last year: 59-53), meaning that even if they win out from here, that Billion Dollar Lineup will have gone sub-.500 for me.

Funny how my Raccoons are a game out in their division on a shriveled budget, three pitchers, and a 35-year-old first baseman having a career year, but all the dosh in Uncle Steve's wallet ... and ... (waves paws) ... here they are in the fishtank and drowning...!

Yes, the Raccoons are the only thing that brings me joy right now.

New York legend Big Pete ties New York legend Bobby Thomson with homer #264, and all I can do is wonder how they're gonna blow that 2-0 lead...

Holmes saved the best for last. Granted, it still wasn't much, but at least he went six (what lofty heights) and didn't give up a run.

Pete had a nice day, the pen held tight, and the Mets will have a reason to put pants on tomorrow regardless of what the Reds due in Sausageland.

Nice win; can't wait to check the highlights. Holmes going 6 and allowing just one hit was certainly not on my Bingo™ card.

Is there literally NO national coverage tomorrow? MLBN is just showing "Game Day Live", which will presumably have "look-ins" but that's hardly a real broadcast. ESPn is showing Women's College Volleyball, of all things. FOX is showing the NFL.

Apparently my choices are limited to a cut-rate version of NFL RedZone and watching my "local" Braves playing out the string. Boo!

No. And that is *great*. The last thing I need when my team is bobbling away the final wild card is some SCHMOX tool and the random Barves player they could get off the street to provide "insight" to fawn over how bad the Mets are losing.

Give it to the local broadcasters!

Btw, Dodgers-Mariners is a "free game" on MLB TV. You CAN'T be "local" for that.

Since I'd have to pay for the basic MLB.TV service, I don't understand how they have a "free" game. I guess if you've only bought a "Mets only" package it's nice they throw a game you don't care about at you, but…

(I'm sorry, but I refuse to consider Ass Boy as being in the same category as The Babe. Just because I don't yet know what ****ery/cheating is going on doesn't mean I'm considering this legit. Aaron Judge is a huge guy playing in bandbox parks and with a rocket ball, so I can see him hitting very large amounts of HRs. This may simply be the opposite of recency bias, but I'm so much less impressed by Cal's 60 than I was by Cecil Fielder topping 50, back when.)

So I'll deal with the excitement that is Panthers-Patriots and then it's "whiparound" time, I guess.

One of us is massively confused, and to be honest I don't know who it is. But when I subsisted on free games in 2011, I didn't even need an account to watch the free games, let alone a subscription. I've had the annual subscription since 2012, so if anything has changed in the meantime, I might be entirely oblivious.

Anyway, about four, five hours until I can cry myself to death over the Mess having missed the playoffs.

Well, it's a computer-only thing, so I hardly claim expertise. I recognize that it's a necessity in your circumstances; I'm just a spoiled American who likes my sports on the TV so I can chat on message boards and such while I watch, rather than flipping tabs.

Five hours until…whatever.

On the bright paw: if they lose *today*, they don't toss me into the conundrum of having to somehow break my head and mind over how I can watch them getting bludgeoned by the Fudgers at four in the morning in the middle of a work week.

What the **** is Boom-Boom doing up in the fifth inning, down by four runs?

Fire the front office, fire the manager, fire the coaches.

Burn the whole **** to the ******* ground.

Except for Pete. Pete must stay.
