Thanks, Merkle. The cap reminded me of San Jose, California, but that San Jose had never been affiliated with the Mets, so I had been left puzzled. Thanks for coming up with an explanation.

Del Bates
In working on a 1967 project I was searching for an image of Del Bates in a Braves Uni - he was on the active ML roster for the first month of the season before being sent to Richmond when the Braves cut back to the 25 max in early May. He didn't see any action.
The only one I could find was of him in the 1967 Braves team photo - so not great but something and the only thing I could find. |

Mike Trujillo Detroit Tigers 1988-1989
Here are some black and white choices for Trujillo. There's nothing in color yet as far as I know.

Thanks! And right you are - Mandile was sent to Tacoma on the 13th and replaced by Jon Upham and Olivares was, from newspaper reports I saw, sent packing on the 14th and replaced by Clarence Jones.

Mike Everett was called up to the Phillies around August 2, 1967, but never got into a major league game. This photo of him appeared on eBay in 2011. |

Chuck Hartenstein 1966
Sorry about the Baerga flop, above.
This isn't on the UIN list, but I haven't seen anything for Chuck Hartenstein's 3 week stay in St. Louis (June 22-July 14, 1970), barring simarc's admittedly-excellent created card (which is based on an MLB photo from "Twiggy's" Cubs days) and a custom card from bobw113 that I never saw an image-source for. Nothing out there, and I searched the thread and came up dry as well. So it's possible that this little thing, which was posted on the retrosimba blog, could be the only authentic Hartenstein/Cardinals pic found to date. Or I could be completely wrong. Wouldn't be the first time, obviously. |

Perhaps not what you're looking for but it's from 1967.

Johnny Kucks 1955
So fine. Thank you.
A search of the thread shows that we have JD McCarthy's planned postcard photo for Johnny Kucks during his failed 1963 Spring Training trial with the Mets (Kucks was technically on the Buffalo roster, having been a conditional purchase from the Atlanta Crackers in January, and would be returned to Atlanta after camp), but this is a nice portrait shot, I think: (Available from Steiner Sports.com) And while we have a Topps Vault of Kucks with Kansas City in 1959/1960, he's all bent over there. I think this SABR pic has the benefit of simplicity. Last edited by Amazin69; 05-22-2023 at 12:21 AM. |
